2:273 ˹Charity is˺ for the poor, those who are engaged in the way of Allah, and they are not able to move about in the land. The ignorant will think about them that they (i.e., the poor) do not need anything because of their holding back ˹from asking for charity˺. You will recognize them by their mark (i.e., appearance). They do not ask the people persistently. And whatever of good you spend, then indeed, Allah is All-Knower of it.

2:275 Those who consume interest (i.e., usury), they can not stand up except like the one who stands with mental imbalance by the touch of Satan. That is because they say, “the trade (i.e., business) is Only like interest.” While Allah has permitted the trade but has forbidden interest. Then to whoever the warning from His Lord comes to him and he refrains, then whatever ˹he gained in the˺ passed is for him, and his case is with Allah, and whoever repeated then those are the companions of the Fire, they will stay in it forever.

2:282 O you who believe! When you contract any debt with one another for a fixed term, then write it. And let a scribe write it down with justice between you (i.e., parties). And a scribe should not refuse to write as Allah has taught him ˹to write˺. So let him (i.e., scribe) write and let the one on whom is the right (i.e., borrower) dictate and let him (i.e., borrower) fear Allah, his Lord, and do not diminish anything from it (i.e., debt he owes). Then if the one on whom is the right (i.e., borrower) is of limited understanding, or weak, or not capable that he can dictate, then let his guardian dictate with justice. And call two witnesses among your men for evidence. And if two men are not there, then one man and two women of whom you agree from the witnesses, so that if one of the two women errs, then the other will remind one of the two. And the witnesses must not refuse when ever they are called. And do not be against (i.e., burdensome) that you write it (i.e., contract) – whether it is small or large with its term. That is more just near Allah, and more upright for evidence and nearer that you do not doubt, except that be an immediate transaction you carry out ˹hand to hand˺ between you, then there is not any sin on you that you do not write it. And take witnesses when you make commercial transaction and ˹make sure that the˺ scribe should not be harmed and nor the witness, and if you do ˹harm them˺, then indeed it is sinful conduct for you, and fear Allah. And Allah ˹is the One Who˺ teaches you. And Allah is All-Knower of every thing.

2:283 And if you are on a journey and you do not find a scribe, then take a security deposit. Then if you trust one another then ˹do not take security deposit˺, but the one who is trusted should fulfill his trust ˹by repaying the debt˺. And let him fear Allah, his Lord. And do not hide the evidence. And whoever hides it, then indeed he, his heart is sinful. And Allah is All-Knower of what you do.
2:283 And if you are on a journey and you do not find a scribe, then pledge/take in hand/security deposit). Then if one of you trusts another then let discharge (do not take the security deposit) the one who is trusted his trust. And let him fear Allah, his Lord. And do not conceal/hide the evidence. And whoever conceals/hides it, then indeed he, his heart is sinful – . And Allah is All-Knower of what you do.

2:286 Allah does not burden any soul more than its capacity, for it is whatever ˹good˺ it earned, and against it is whatever ˹evil˺ it earned. ˹The believers pray,˺ “Our Lord! Do not punish us if we forget or we make a mistake. Our Lord! And do not place a burden on us like that which You placed it on those who were from before us. Our Lord! And do not place on us for what we do not have the strength ˹to bear˺ of it. And pardon us, and forgive us and have mercy on us. You are our Protector, so help us against the disbelieving people.
