1. الر ۚ كِتَابٌ أُحْكِمَتْ آيَاتُهُ ثُمَّ فُصِّلَتْ مِنْ لَدُنْ حَكِيمٍ خَبِيرٍ
‘Alif–Lām–Rā Kitābun ‘Uĥkimat ‘Āyātuhu Thumma Fuşşilat Min Ladun Ĥakīmin Khabīrin
11:1 Alif Lam Ra. ˹This is˺ a Book whose Verses are perfected and then fully explained from the One ˹Who is˺ All-Wise, All-Aware.
1. Alif-Laaam-Raa; Kitaabun uhkimat Aayaatuhoo summa fussilat mil ladun Hakeemin Khabeer
2. أَلَّا تَعْبُدُوا إِلَّا اللَّهَ ۚ إِنَّنِي لَكُمْ مِنْهُ نَذِيرٌ وَبَشِيرٌ
‘Allā Ta`budū ‘Illā Al-Laha ‘Innanī Lakum Minhu Nadhīrun Wa Bashīrun
11:2 ˹Tell them, O Prophet,˺ That “You do not worship except Allah. Indeed, I (i.e., Prophet) am a warner and a deliverer of good news to you from Him ˹Allah˺.”
2. Allaa ta’budooo illal laah; innanee lakum minhu nazeerunw wa basheer
3. وَأَنِ اسْتَغْفِرُوا رَبَّكُمْ ثُمَّ تُوبُوا إِلَيْهِ يُمَتِّعْكُمْ مَتَاعًا حَسَنًا إِلَىٰ أَجَلٍ مُسَمًّى وَيُؤْتِ كُلَّ ذِي فَضْلٍ فَضْلَهُ ۖ وَإِنْ تَوَلَّوْا فَإِنِّي أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ كَبِيرٍ
Wa ‘Ani Astaghfirū Rabbakum Thumma Tūbū ‘Ilayhi Yumatti`kum Matā`āan Ĥasanāan ‘Ilá ‘Ajalin Musammáan Wa Yu’uti Kulla Dhī Fađlin Fađlahu Wa ‘In Tawallaw Fa’innī ‘Akhāfu `Alaykum `Adhāba Yawmin Kabīrin
11:3 and that “Ask your Lord for forgiveness and turn to Him in repentance, He will grant you a good provision for an appointed term. And give His Grace to every owner of Grace (i.e., doers of good). But if you turn away then indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a Great Day.
3. Wa anis taghfiroo Rabbakum summa toobooo ilaihi yumatti’kum mataa’an hasanan ilaaa ajalim musammanw wa yu’ti kulla zee fadlin fadlahoo wa in tawallaw fa inneee akhaafu ‘alaikum ‘azaaba Yawmin Kabeer
4. إِلَى اللَّهِ مَرْجِعُكُمْ ۖ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
‘Ilá Al-Lahi Marji`ukum Wa Huwa `Alá Kulli Shay’in Qadīrun
11:4 To Allah is your return, and He is All-Powerful over every thing.”
4. Ilal laahi marji’ukum wa Huwa ‘alaa kulli shai’in Qadeer
5. أَلَا إِنَّهُمْ يَثْنُونَ صُدُورَهُمْ لِيَسْتَخْفُوا مِنْهُ ۚ أَلَا حِينَ يَسْتَغْشُونَ ثِيَابَهُمْ يَعْلَمُ مَا يُسِرُّونَ وَمَا يُعْلِنُونَ ۚ إِنَّهُ عَلِيمٌ بِذَاتِ الصُّدُورِ
‘Alā ‘Innahum Yathnūna Şudūrahum Liyastakhfū Minhu ‘Alā Ĥīna Yastaghshūna Thiyābahum Ya`lamu Mā Yusirrūna Wa Mā Yu`linūna ‘Innahu `Alīmun Bidhāti Aş-Şudūri
11:5 Unquestionably! They cover their chests so that they may hide it from Him. Surely, even when they cover themselves with their clothes, He knows what they conceal and what they reveal. Indeed, He is All-Knower of what is ˹hidden˺ in the chests.
5. Alaa innahum yasnoona sudoorahum liyastakhfoo minh; alaa heena yastaghshoona siyaabahum ya’lamu maa yusirroona wa maa yu’linoon; innahoo ‘aleemun bizaatis sudoor (End Juz 11)
6. وَمَا مِنْ دَابَّةٍ فِي الْأَرْضِ إِلَّا عَلَى اللَّهِ رِزْقُهَا وَيَعْلَمُ مُسْتَقَرَّهَا وَمُسْتَوْدَعَهَا ۚ كُلٌّ فِي كِتَابٍ مُبِينٍ
Wa Mā Min Dābbatin Fī Al-‘Arđi ‘Illā `Alá Al-Lahi Rizquhā Wa Ya`lamu Mustaqarrahā Wa Mustawda`ahā Kullun Fī Kitābin Mubīnin
11:6 And there is not any moving creature on the earth but that its provision is on Allah. And He knows its dwelling/living place and its resting place. All is in a clear Record.
6. Wa maa min daaabbatin fil ardi illaa ‘alal laahi rizquhaa wa ya’lamu mustaqarrahaa wa mustawda’ahaa; kullun fee Kitaabim Mubeen
7. وَهُوَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ فِي سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٍ وَكَانَ عَرْشُهُ عَلَى الْمَاءِ لِيَبْلُوَكُمْ أَيُّكُمْ أَحْسَنُ عَمَلًا ۗ وَلَئِنْ قُلْتَ إِنَّكُمْ مَبْعُوثُونَ مِنْ بَعْدِ الْمَوْتِ لَيَقُولَنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا إِنْ هَٰذَا إِلَّا سِحْرٌ مُبِينٌ
Wa Huwa Al-Ladhī Khalaqa As-Samāwāti Wa Al-‘Arđa Fī Sittati ‘Ayyāmin Wa Kāna `Arshuhu `Alá Al-Mā’i Liyabluwakum ‘Ayyukum ‘Aĥsanu `Amalāan Wa La’in Qulta ‘Innakum Mab`ūthūna Min Ba`di Al-Mawti Layaqūlanna Al-Ladhīna Kafarū ‘In Hādhā ‘Illā Siĥrun Mubīnun
11:7 And He is the One Who created the heavens and the earth in six Days, and his throne was on/upon the water, so that He might test you/ in order to test you as to which of you is best in deed. And if you ˹O Prophet˺ say, “Indeed, you will ˹all˺ be resurrected from after the death,” those who disbelieve will surely say, “This is nothing but clear magic.”
7. Wa Huwal lazee khalaqas samaawaati wal arda fee sittati aiyaaminw wa kaana ‘Arshuhoo alal maaa’i liyabluwakum aiyukum ahsanu ‘amalaa; wa la’in qulta innakum mab’oosoona min ba’dil mawti la yaqoolannal lazeena kafaroo in haazaaa illaa sihrum mubeen
8. وَلَئِنْ أَخَّرْنَا عَنْهُمُ الْعَذَابَ إِلَىٰ أُمَّةٍ مَعْدُودَةٍ لَيَقُولُنَّ مَا يَحْبِسُهُ ۗ أَلَا يَوْمَ يَأْتِيهِمْ لَيْسَ مَصْرُوفًا عَنْهُمْ وَحَاقَ بِهِمْ مَا كَانُوا بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِئُونَ
Wa La’in ‘Akhkharnā `Anhumu Al-`Adhāba ‘Ilá ‘Ummatin Ma`dūdatin Layaqūlunna Mā Yaĥbisuhu ‘Alā Yawma Ya’tīhim Laysa Maşrūfāan `Anhum Wa Ĥāqa Bihim Mā Kānū Bihi Yastahzi’ūn
11:8 And if We delay the punishment from them for a determined/ appointed/ specified/ limited time, they will surely say, “What is holding it back?” Unquestionably! on the Day it comes to them, it will not be diverted from them and what they used to mock about it will surround them.

8. Wala’in akharnaa ‘anhumul ‘azaaba ilaaa ummatim ma’doodatil la yaqoolunna maa yahbisuh; alaa yawma ya’teehim laisa masroofan ‘anhum wa haaqa bihim maa kaanoo bihee yastahzi’oon (section 1)
9. وَلَئِنْ أَذَقْنَا الْإِنْسَانَ مِنَّا رَحْمَةً ثُمَّ نَزَعْنَاهَا مِنْهُ إِنَّهُ لَيَئُوسٌ كَفُورٌ
Wa La’in ‘Adhaqnā Al-‘Insāna Minnā Raĥmatan Thumma Naza`nāhā Minhu ‘Innahu Laya’ūsun Kafūrun
11:9 And if We give man a taste of Mercy from Us, then We withdraw it/ We take it away from him, indeed, he is despairing (i.e., loses all hope) and ungrateful.
9. Wa la’in azaqnal insaana minnaa rahmatan summa naza’naahaa minhu, innahoo laya’oosun kafoor
10. وَلَئِنْ أَذَقْنَاهُ نَعْمَاءَ بَعْدَ ضَرَّاءَ مَسَّتْهُ لَيَقُولَنَّ ذَهَبَ السَّيِّئَاتُ عَنِّي ۚ إِنَّهُ لَفَرِحٌ فَخُورٌ
Wa La’in ‘Adhaqnāhu Na`mā’a Ba`da Đarrā’a Massat/hu Layaqūlanna Dhahaba As-Sayyi’ātu `Annī ‘Innahu Lafariĥun Fakhūrun
11:10 But if We give him a taste of favor after hardship has touched him, surely, he will say, “The evils have gone away from me.” Indeed, he is exultant/ totally prideful and boastful.
10. Wala’in azaqnaahu na’maaa’a ba’da darraaa’a massat hu la yaqoolanna zahabas saiyiaatu ‘anneee; innahoo lafarihun fakhoor
11. إِلَّا الَّذِينَ صَبَرُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ أُولَٰئِكَ لَهُمْ مَغْفِرَةٌ وَأَجْرٌ كَبِيرٌ
‘Illā Al-Ladhīna Şabarū Wa `Amilū Aş-Şāliĥāti ‘Ūlā’ika Lahum Maghfiratun Wa ‘Ajrun Kabīrun
11:11 Except those who are patient and do good deeds, those, for them will be forgiveness and a great reward.
11. Illal lazeena sabaroo wa ‘amilus saalihaati ulaaa’ika lahum maghfiratunw wa ajrun kabeer
12. فَلَعَلَّكَ تَارِكٌ بَعْضَ مَا يُوحَىٰ إِلَيْكَ وَضَائِقٌ بِهِ صَدْرُكَ أَنْ يَقُولُوا لَوْلَا أُنْزِلَ عَلَيْهِ كَنْزٌ أَوْ جَاءَ مَعَهُ مَلَكٌ ۚ إِنَّمَا أَنْتَ نَذِيرٌ ۚ وَاللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَكِيلٌ
Fala`allaka Tārikun Ba`đa Mā Yūĥá ‘Ilayka Wa Đā’iqun Bihi Şadruka ‘An Yaqūlū Lawlā ‘Unzila `Alayhi Kanzun ‘Aw Jā’a Ma`ahu Malakun ‘Innamā ‘Anta Nadhīrun Wa Allāhu `Alá Kulli Shay’in Wa Kīlun
11:12 Then possibly you ˹O Prophet˺ may give up a part of what is revealed to you and your chest may be straitened/ distressed/ tightened by it because they say, “Why has a treasure not been sent down for him or an Angel has come with him?” You are only a warner. And Allah is a Guardian on/over every thing.
Why not is sent down for him a treasure
12. Fala’allaka taarikum ba’da maa yoohaaa ilaika wa daaa’iqum bihee sadruka ai yaqooloo law laaa unzila ‘alaihi kanzun aw jaaa’a ma’ahoo malak; innamaa anta nazeer; wallaahu ‘alaa kulli shai’inw wakeel
13. أَمْ يَقُولُونَ افْتَرَاهُ ۖ قُلْ فَأْتُوا بِعَشْرِ سُوَرٍ مِثْلِهِ مُفْتَرَيَاتٍ وَادْعُوا مَنِ اسْتَطَعْتُمْ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ صَادِقِينَ
‘Am Yaqūlūna Aftarāhu Qul Fa’tū Bi`ashri Suwarin Mithlihi Muftarayātin Wa Ad`ū Mani Astaţa`tum Min Dūni Al-Lahi ‘In Kuntum Şādiqīna
11:13 Or do they say, “He has fabricated/invented it (i.e., Quran).” Say, “Then bring ten fabricated/invented Surahs like it, and call (i.e., for help) whoever you can from besides Allah if you are truthful.”
13. Am yaqooloonaf taraahu qul faatoo bi’ashri Suwarim mislihee muftarayaatinw wad’oo manis tata’tum min doonil laahi in kuntum saadiqeen
14. فَإِلَّمْ يَسْتَجِيبُوا لَكُمْ فَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّمَا أُنْزِلَ بِعِلْمِ اللَّهِ وَأَنْ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۖ فَهَلْ أَنْتُمْ مُسْلِمُونَ
Fa’illam Yastajībū Lakum Fā`lamū ‘Annamā ‘Unzila Bi`ilmi Al-Lahi Wa ‘An Lā ‘Ilāha ‘Illā Huwa Fahal ‘Antum Muslimūna
11:14 Then if they (i.e., helpers) do not respond to you, then know that it was/has been sent down/ revealed with the knowledge of Allah, and that there is no god except Him. Then will you submit to Him ˹Allah˺?
11:14 Then if not they respond to you then know that it was sent down with the knowledge , (of) Allah and that (there is) no god except Him. Then, would you (be) Muslims?
14. Fa il lam yastajeeboo lakum fa’lamooo annamaaa unzilla bi’ilmil laahi wa al laaa ilaaha illaa Huwa fahal antum muslimoon
15. مَنْ كَانَ يُرِيدُ الْحَيَاةَ الدُّنْيَا وَزِينَتَهَا نُوَفِّ إِلَيْهِمْ أَعْمَالَهُمْ فِيهَا وَهُمْ فِيهَا لَا يُبْخَسُونَ
Man Kāna Yurīdu Al-Ĥayāata Ad-Dunyā Wa Zīnatahā Nuwaffi ‘Ilayhim ‘A`mālahum Fīhā Wa Hum Fīhā Lā Yubkhasūna
11:15 Whoever is desiring ˹only˺ the life of the world and its adornments/luxuries, We will repay to them in full for their deeds in it, and they will not be lessened in it.
luxuries15. Man kaana yureedul hayaatad dunyaa wa zeenatahaa nuwaffi ilaihim a’maa lahum feehaa wa hum feehaa laa yubkhasoon
16. أُولَٰئِكَ الَّذِينَ لَيْسَ لَهُمْ فِي الْآخِرَةِ إِلَّا النَّارُ ۖ وَحَبِطَ مَا صَنَعُوا فِيهَا وَبَاطِلٌ مَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ
‘Ūlā’ika Al-Ladhīna Laysa Lahum Fī Al-‘Ākhirati ‘Illā An-Nāru Wa Ĥabiţa Mā Şana`ū Fīhā Wa Bāţilun Mā Kānū Ya`malūna
11:16 Those are the ones who will have nothing for them in the Hereafter except the Fire. And what they did therein is/will be fruitless, and what they used to do is/will be worthless.
16. Ulaaa’ikal lazeena laisa lahum fil Aakhirati illan Naaru wa habita maa sana’oo feehaa wa baatilum maa kaanoo ya’maloon
17. أَفَمَنْ كَانَ عَلَىٰ بَيِّنَةٍ مِنْ رَبِّهِ وَيَتْلُوهُ شَاهِدٌ مِنْهُ وَمِنْ قَبْلِهِ كِتَابُ مُوسَىٰ إِمَامًا وَرَحْمَةً ۚ أُولَٰئِكَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِ ۚ وَمَنْ يَكْفُرْ بِهِ مِنَ الْأَحْزَابِ فَالنَّارُ مَوْعِدُهُ ۚ فَلَا تَكُ فِي مِرْيَةٍ مِنْهُ ۚ إِنَّهُ الْحَقُّ مِنْ رَبِّكَ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ
‘Afaman Kāna `Alá Bayyinatin Min Rabbihi Wa Yatlūhu Shāhidun Minhu Wa Min Qablihi Kitābu Mūsá ‘Imāmāan Wa Raĥmatan ‘Ūlā’ika Yu’uminūna Bihi Wa Man Yakfur Bihi Mina Al-‘Aĥzābi Fālnnāru Maw`iduhu Falā Takun Fī Miryatin Minhu ‘Innahu Al-Ĥaqqu Min Rabbika Wa Lakinna ‘Akthara An-Nāsi Lā Yu’uminūna
11:17 As for the one/he who is on a clear proof from his Lord, and a witness from Him recites it, and from before it was a Book of Musa ˹which was revealed˺ as a guide and mercy? Those ˹believers˺ believe in it. But whoever from the ˹disbelieving˺ group disbelieves in it, then the Fire will be/ is his promised place/destination. So do not be in doubt about it. Indeed, it is the truth from your Lord, but most of the people do not believe.
17. Afaman kaana ‘ala baiyinatim mir Rabbihee wa yatloohu shaahidum minhu wa min qablihee Kitaabu Moosaaa imaamanw wa rahmah; ulaaa ‘ika yu’minoona bih; wa mai yakfur bihee minal Ahzaabi fan Naaru maw’iduh; falaa taku fee miryatim minh; innahul haqqu mir Rabbika wa laakinna aksaran naasi laa yu’minoon
18. وَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّنِ افْتَرَىٰ عَلَى اللَّهِ كَذِبًا ۚ أُولَٰئِكَ يُعْرَضُونَ عَلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ وَيَقُولُ الْأَشْهَادُ هَٰؤُلَاءِ الَّذِينَ كَذَبُوا عَلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ ۚ أَلَا لَعْنَةُ اللَّهِ عَلَى الظَّالِمِينَ
Wa Man ‘Ažlamu Mimmani Aftará `Alá Al-Lahi Kadhibāan ‘Ūlā’ika Yu`rađūna `Alá Rabbihim Wa Yaqūlu Al-‘Ash/hādu Hā’uulā’ Al-Ladhīna Kadhabū `Alá Rabbihim ‘Alā La`natu Al-Lahi `Alá Až-Žālimīna
11:18 And who is/can be/ does more wrong than ˹someone˺ who invents a lie against Allah? Those will be presented before their Lord, and the witnesses will say, “These are those who lied against their Lord.” Unquestionably! The curse of Allah is on the wrongdoers,
18. Wa man azlamu mimmanif taraa ‘alal laahi kazibaa; ulaaa’ika yu’radoona ‘alaa Rabbihim wa yaqoolul ashhaa duhaaa’ulaaa’il lazeena kazaboo ‘alaa Rabbihim; alaa la’natul laahi alaz zaalimeen
19. الَّذِينَ يَصُدُّونَ عَنْ سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ وَيَبْغُونَهَا عِوَجًا وَهُمْ بِالْآخِرَةِ هُمْ كَافِرُونَ
Al-Ladhīna Yaşuddūna `An Sabīli Al-Lahi Wa Yabghūnahā `Iwajāan Wa Hum Bil-‘Ākhirati Hum Kāfirūna
11:19 those who hinder/ obstruct/ prevent from the way of Allah and seek crookedness in it, while/and they in the Hereafter, they are disbelievers.
19. Allazeena yasuddoona ‘an sabeelil laahi wa yabghoonahaa ‘iwajanw wa hum bil Aakhiratihum kaafiroon
20. أُولَٰئِكَ لَمْ يَكُونُوا مُعْجِزِينَ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَمَا كَانَ لَهُمْ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ مِنْ أَوْلِيَاءَ ۘ يُضَاعَفُ لَهُمُ الْعَذَابُ ۚ مَا كَانُوا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ السَّمْعَ وَمَا كَانُوا يُبْصِرُونَ
‘Ūlā’ika Lam Yakūnū Mu`jizīna Fī Al-‘Arđi Wa Mā Kāna Lahum Min Dūni Al-Lahi Min ‘Awliyā’a Yuđā`afu Lahumu Al-`Adhābu Mā Kānū Yastaţī`ūna As-Sam`a Wa Mā Kānū Yubşirūna
11:20 Those will not/never be able to escape in the earth and nor is for them any protectors from besides Allah. And for them the punishment will be doubled, ˹for˺ they were not able to hear and they did not see ˹the truth˺.
20. Ulaaa’ika lam yakoonoo mu’jizeena fil ardi wa maa kaana lahum min doonil laahi min awliyaaa’; yudaa’afu lahumul ‘azaab; maa kaanoo yastatee’oonas sam’a wa maa kaanoo yubsiroon
21. أُولَٰئِكَ الَّذِينَ خَسِرُوا أَنْفُسَهُمْ وَضَلَّ عَنْهُمْ مَا كَانُوا يَفْتَرُونَ
‘Ūlā’ika Al-Ladhīna Khasirū ‘Anfusahum Wa Đalla `Anhum Mā Kānū Yaftarūna
11:21 Those are the ones who have lost themselves, and what they used to invent is lost from them.
21. Ulaaa’ikal lazeena khasirooo anfusahum wa dalla ‘anhum maa kaanoo yaftaroon
22. لَا جَرَمَ أَنَّهُمْ فِي الْآخِرَةِ هُمُ الْأَخْسَرُونَ
Lā Jarama ‘Annahum Fī Al-‘Ākhirati Humu Al-‘Akhsarūna
11:22 No doubt that they in the Hereafter, they will be the greatest losers.
22. Laa jarama annahum fil Aakhirati humul akhsaroon
23. إِنَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ وَأَخْبَتُوا إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ أُولَٰئِكَ أَصْحَابُ الْجَنَّةِ ۖ هُمْ فِيهَا خَالِدُونَ
‘Inna Al-Ladhīna ‘Āmanū Wa `Amilū Aş-Şāliĥāti Wa ‘Akhbatū ‘Ilá Rabbihim ‘Ūlā’ika ‘Aşĥābu Al-Jannati Hum Fīhā Khālidūna
11:23 Indeed, those who believe and do good deeds and humble themselves before their Lord, those are the companions of Paradise, they will stay in it forever.
23. Innal lazeena aamanoo wa ‘amilus saalihaati wa akhbatooo ilaa Rabbihim ulaaa’ika Ashaabul Jannati hum feehaa khaalidoon
24. مَثَلُ الْفَرِيقَيْنِ كَالْأَعْمَىٰ وَالْأَصَمِّ وَالْبَصِيرِ وَالسَّمِيعِ ۚ هَلْ يَسْتَوِيَانِ مَثَلًا ۚ أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ
Mathalu Al-Farīqayni Kāl’a`má Wa Al-‘Aşammi Wa Al-Başīri Wa As-Samī`i Hal Yastawiyāni Mathalāan ‘Afalā Tadhakkarūna
11:24 The example of the two parties/groups is like the blind and the deaf, and the seeing and the hearing. Are they equal in comparison? Then, will you not take heed/ be mindful/ remember?
24. Masalul fareeqaini kal a’maa wal asammi walbaseeri wassamee’; hal yastawiyaani masalaa; afalaa tazakkaroon (section 2)
25. وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحًا إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِ إِنِّي لَكُمْ نَذِيرٌ مُبِينٌ
Wa Laqad ‘Arsalnā Nūĥāan ‘Ilá Qawmihi ‘Innī Lakum Nadhīrun Mubīnun
11:25 And verily We sent Noah to his people, ˹Noah said,˺ “Indeed, I am a clear warner to you
25. Wa laqad arsalnaa Noohan ilaa qawmihee innee lakum nazeerum mubeen
26. أَنْ لَا تَعْبُدُوا إِلَّا اللَّهَ ۖ إِنِّي أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ أَلِيمٍ
‘An Lā Ta`budū ‘Illā Al-Laha ‘Innī ‘Akhāfu `Alaykum `Adhāba Yawmin ‘Alīmin
11:26 that you should not worship except Allah. Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a painful Day.”

26. Al laa ta’budooo illal laaha inneee akhaafu ‘alaikum ‘azaaba Yawmin aleem
27. فَقَالَ الْمَلَأُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِنْ قَوْمِهِ مَا نَرَاكَ إِلَّا بَشَرًا مِثْلَنَا وَمَا نَرَاكَ اتَّبَعَكَ إِلَّا الَّذِينَ هُمْ أَرَاذِلُنَا بَادِيَ الرَّأْيِ وَمَا نَرَىٰ لَكُمْ عَلَيْنَا مِنْ فَضْلٍ بَلْ نَظُنُّكُمْ كَاذِبِينَ
Faqāla Al-Mala’u Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Min Qawmihi Mā Narāka ‘Illā Basharāan Mithlanā Wa Mā Narāka Attaba`aka ‘Illā Al-Ladhīna Hum ‘Arādhilunā Bādiya Ar-Ra’yi Wa Mā Nará Lakum `Alaynā Min Fađlin Bal Nažunnukum Kādhibīna
11:27 So the chiefs of those who disbelieved from his people said, “we do not see you but a man like us, and we see that none follows you except those who are they the lowest among us ˹who˺ obviously do so ˹hastily˺ without thinking. And we do not see in you any superiority/ excellence over us; Infact, we think you are liars.”

27. Faqaalal mala ul lazeena kafaroo min qawmihee ma naraaka illaa basharam mislanaa wa maa naraakat taba’aka illal lazeena hum araazilunaa baadiyar raayi wa maa naraa lakum ‘alainaa min fadlim bal nazunnukum kaazibeen
28. قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ أَرَأَيْتُمْ إِنْ كُنْتُ عَلَىٰ بَيِّنَةٍ مِنْ رَبِّي وَآتَانِي رَحْمَةً مِنْ عِنْدِهِ فَعُمِّيَتْ عَلَيْكُمْ أَنُلْزِمُكُمُوهَا وَأَنْتُمْ لَهَا كَارِهُونَ
Qāla Yā Qawmi ‘Ara’aytum ‘In Kuntu `Alá Bayyinatin Min Rabbī Wa ‘Ātānī Raĥmatan Min `Indihi Fa`ummiyat `Alaykum ‘Anulzimukumūhā Wa ‘Antum Lahā Kārihūna
11:28 He said, “O my people! Do you see/consider if I am on the clear proof from my Lord, and He has given me mercy from Himself but it has been made hidden/ concealed/ blind from you, should We ˹then˺ force it on you while you are averse/ dislike it ?

11:28 He said, “O my people! Do you see/consider if I am on the clear proof from my Lord, while He has given me mercy from Himself but it has been obscured from you, should We compel you (to accept) it while you (are) to it averse?
28. Qaala yaa qawmi ara’aitum in kuntu ‘alaa baiyinatim mir Rabbee wa aataanee rahmatam min ‘indihee fa’um miyat ‘alaikum anulzimuku moohaa wa antum lahaa kaarihoon
29. وَيَا قَوْمِ لَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مَالًا ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَى اللَّهِ ۚ وَمَا أَنَا بِطَارِدِ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا ۚ إِنَّهُمْ مُلَاقُو رَبِّهِمْ وَلَٰكِنِّي أَرَاكُمْ قَوْمًا تَجْهَلُونَ
Wa Yāqawmi Lā ‘As’alukum `Alayhi Mālāan ‘In ‘Ajriya ‘Illā `Alá Al-Lahi Wa Mā ‘Anā Biţāridi Al-Ladhīna ‘Āmanū ‘Innahum Mulāqū Rabbihim Wa Lakinnī ‘Arākum Qawmāan Tajhalūna
11:29 And O my people! I do not ask you for it (i.e., message) any wealth. My reward is from none except Allah. And I am not going to drive away those who believed. Indeed, they will be meeting their Lord, but I see you are a people acting ignorant/ly.
29. Wa yaa qawmi laaa as’alukum ‘alaihi maalan in ajriya illaa ‘alal laah; wa maaa ana bitaaridil lazeena aamanoo; innahum mulaaqoo Rabbihim wa laakinneee araakum qawman tajhaloon
30. وَيَا قَوْمِ مَنْ يَنْصُرُنِي مِنَ اللَّهِ إِنْ طَرَدْتُهُمْ ۚ أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ
Wa Yāqawmi Man Yanşurunī Mina Al-Lahi ‘In Ţaradtuhum ‘Afalā Tadhakkarūna
11:30 And O my people! Who would help me against Allah if I drove them (i.e., believers) away? Then, will you not take heed/ be mindful/ remember?
30. Wa yaa qawmi mai yansurunee minal laahi in tarattuhum; afalaa tazak karoon
31. وَلَا أَقُولُ لَكُمْ عِنْدِي خَزَائِنُ اللَّهِ وَلَا أَعْلَمُ الْغَيْبَ وَلَا أَقُولُ إِنِّي مَلَكٌ وَلَا أَقُولُ لِلَّذِينَ تَزْدَرِي أَعْيُنُكُمْ لَنْ يُؤْتِيَهُمُ اللَّهُ خَيْرًا ۖ اللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا فِي أَنْفُسِهِمْ ۖ إِنِّي إِذًا لَمِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ
Wa Lā ‘Aqūlu Lakum `Indī Khazā’inu Al-Lahi Wa Lā ‘A`lamu Al-Ghayba Wa Lā ‘Aqūlu ‘Innī Malakun Wa Lā ‘Aqūlu Lilladhīna Tazdarī ‘A`yunukum Lan Yu’utiyahumu Al-Lahu Khayrāan Al-Lahu ‘A`lamu Bimā Fī ‘Anfusihim ‘Innī ‘Idhāan Lamina Až-Žālimīna
11:31 And I do not say to you that the treasures of Allah are with me, and nor do I know the unseen, and nor do I say that I am an Angel, and nor do I say for those whom your eyes look down upon, that Allah will never give them any good. Allah knows best what is in their souls. ˹If I did,˺ Indeed, then I will be surely among the wrongdoers.”
31. Wa laa aqoolu lakum ‘indee khazaa’inul laahi wa laaa a’lamul ghaiba wa laa aqoolu innee malakunw wa laaa aqoolu lillazeena tazdareee a’yunukum lai yu’tiyahumul laahu khairan Allaahu a’lamu bimaa feee anfusihim innee izal laminaz zaalimeen
32. قَالُوا يَا نُوحُ قَدْ جَادَلْتَنَا فَأَكْثَرْتَ جِدَالَنَا فَأْتِنَا بِمَا تَعِدُنَا إِنْ كُنْتَ مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ
Qālū Yā Nūĥu Qad Jādaltanā Fa’aktharta Jidālanā Fa’tinā Bimā Ta`idunā ‘In Kunta Mina Aş-Şādiqīna
11:32 They said, “O Noah! Indeed, you disputed/ have argued with us and you have increased in arguing with us. So bring us what you threaten us, if you are of the truthful.”
11:32 They said, “O Noah! Indeed, you disputed/ have argued with us and you (have been) frequent (in) dispute with us. So bring us what you threaten us, if you are of the truthful.”
32. Qaaloo yaa Noohu qad jaadaltanaa fa aksarta jidaalanaa faatinaa bimaa ta’idunaaa in kunta minas saadiqeen
33. قَالَ إِنَّمَا يَأْتِيكُمْ بِهِ اللَّهُ إِنْ شَاءَ وَمَا أَنْتُمْ بِمُعْجِزِينَ
Qāla ‘Innamā Ya’tīkum Bihi Al-Lahu ‘In Shā’a Wa Mā ‘Antum Bimu`jizīna
11:33 He said, “Only Allah will bring it upon you if He wills, and you will have no escape.
33. Qaala innamaa yaateekum bihil laahu in shaaa’a wa maaa antum bimu’jizeen
34. وَلَا يَنْفَعُكُمْ نُصْحِي إِنْ أَرَدْتُ أَنْ أَنْصَحَ لَكُمْ إِنْ كَانَ اللَّهُ يُرِيدُ أَنْ يُغْوِيَكُمْ ۚ هُوَ رَبُّكُمْ وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ
Wa Lā Yanfa`ukum Nuşĥī ‘In ‘Aradtu ‘An ‘Anşaĥa Lakum ‘In Kāna Al-Lahu Yurīdu ‘An Yughwiyakum Huwa Rabbukum Wa ‘Ilayhi Turja`ūna
11:34 And my advice will not benefit you, even if I wish to advise you, if Allah would/should intend to leave you stray. He is your Lord, and to Him you will be returned.“

34. Wa laa yanfa’ukum nusheee in arattu an ansaha lakum in kaanal laahu yureedu ai yughwi yakum; Huwa Rabbukum wa ilaihi turja’oon
35. أَمْ يَقُولُونَ افْتَرَاهُ ۖ قُلْ إِنِ افْتَرَيْتُهُ فَعَلَيَّ إِجْرَامِي وَأَنَا بَرِيءٌ مِمَّا تُجْرِمُونَ
‘Am Yaqūlūna Aftarāhu Qul ‘Ini Aftaraytuhu Fa`alayya ‘Ijrāmī Wa ‘Anā Barī’un Mimmā Tujrimūna
11:35 Or do they say, “He has invented it (i.e., Quran)?” Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “If I have invented it, then on me is my crime, but I am innocent/free of what crimes you commit.”
35. Am yaqooloonaf taraahu qul inif taraituhoo fa’alaiya ijraamee wa ana bareee’um mimmaa tujrimoon (section 3)
36. وَأُوحِيَ إِلَىٰ نُوحٍ أَنَّهُ لَنْ يُؤْمِنَ مِنْ قَوْمِكَ إِلَّا مَنْ قَدْ آمَنَ فَلَا تَبْتَئِسْ بِمَا كَانُوا يَفْعَلُونَ
Wa ‘Ūĥiya ‘Ilá Nūĥin ‘Annahu Lan Yu’umina Min Qawmika ‘Illā Man Qad ‘Āmana Falā Tabta’is Bimā Kānū Yaf`alūna
11:36 And it was revealed to Noah, “That none of your people will believe except those who have already believed. So do not be distressed by what they have been doing.
36. Wa oohiya ilaa Noohin annahoo lany-yu’mina min qawmika illaa man qad aamana falaa tabta’is bimaa kaanoo yaf’aloon
37. وَاصْنَعِ الْفُلْكَ بِأَعْيُنِنَا وَوَحْيِنَا وَلَا تُخَاطِبْنِي فِي الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا ۚ إِنَّهُمْ مُغْرَقُونَ
Wa Aşna`i Al-Fulka Bi’a`yuninā Wa Waĥyinā Wa Lā Tukhāţibnī Fī Al-Ladhīna Žalamū ‘Innahum Mughraqūna
11:37 And build the ship under Our ˹watchful˺ Eyes (i.e., watch) and Our inspiration (i.e., direction) and do not address (i.e., plead) Me concerning those who wronged; indeed, they are to be drowned.”
37. Wasna’il fulka bi-a’yuninaa wa wahyinaa wa laa tukhaa tibnee fil lazeena zalamoo; innahum mughraqoon
38. وَيَصْنَعُ الْفُلْكَ وَكُلَّمَا مَرَّ عَلَيْهِ مَلَأٌ مِنْ قَوْمِهِ سَخِرُوا مِنْهُ ۚ قَالَ إِنْ تَسْخَرُوا مِنَّا فَإِنَّا نَسْخَرُ مِنْكُمْ كَمَا تَسْخَرُونَ
Wa Yaşna`u Al-Fulka Wa Kullamā Marra `Alayhi Mala’un Min Qawmihi Sakhirū Minhu Qāla ‘In Taskharū Minnā Fa’innā Naskharu Minkum Kamā Taskharūna
11:38 And he ˹began˺ to build the ship, and every time the chiefs of his people passed by him, they mocked him. He said, “If you ridicule us, then we will ˹soon˺ ridicule you just as you ridicule us.
11:38 And he was constructing the ship, and every time passed by him (the) chiefs of his people, they ridiculed [of] him. He said, “If you ridicule us, then we can ridicule you as you ridicule.
38. Wa yasna’ul fulka wa kullamaa marra ‘alaihi mala’um min qawmihee sakhiroo minh; qaala in taskharoo minnaa fa innaa naskharu minkum kamaa taskharoon
39. فَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ مَنْ يَأْتِيهِ عَذَابٌ يُخْزِيهِ وَيَحِلُّ عَلَيْهِ عَذَابٌ مُقِيمٌ
Fasawfa Ta`lamūna Man Ya’tīhi `Adhābun Yukhzīhi Wa Yaĥillu `Alayhi `Adhābun Muqīmun
11:39 And you will soon know who will receive a punishment that will humiliate him ˹in this life˺, and on whom will descend an everlasting punishment ˹in the next˺.”
39. Fasawfa ta’lamoona mai ya’teehi ‘azaabuny yukhzeehi wa yahillu ‘alaihi ‘azaabun muqeem
40. حَتَّىٰ إِذَا جَاءَ أَمْرُنَا وَفَارَ التَّنُّورُ قُلْنَا احْمِلْ فِيهَا مِنْ كُلٍّ زَوْجَيْنِ اثْنَيْنِ وَأَهْلَكَ إِلَّا مَنْ سَبَقَ عَلَيْهِ الْقَوْلُ وَمَنْ آمَنَ ۚ وَمَا آمَنَ مَعَهُ إِلَّا قَلِيلٌ
Ĥattá ‘Idhā Jā’a ‘Amrunā Wa Fāra At-Tannūru Qulnā Aĥmil Fīhā Min Kullin Zawjayni Athnayni Wa ‘Ahlaka ‘Illā Man Sabaqa `Alayhi Al-Qawlu Wa Man ‘Āmana Wa Mā ‘Āmana Ma`ahu ‘Illā Qalīlun
11:40 Until when Our command came, and the oven overflowed ˹with water˺, We said ˹to Noah˺, “Load/Take in it two pair of every kind, and your family except against who the word ˹to drown˺ has preceded/passed, and whoever believed.” And none believed with him except a few.

40. Hattaaa izaa jaaa’a amrunaa wa faarat tannooru qulnah mil feehaa min kullin zawjainis naini wa ahlaka illaa man sabaqa ‘alaihil qawlu wa man aaman; wa maaa aamana ma’ahooo illaa qaleel
41. وَقَالَ ارْكَبُوا فِيهَا بِسْمِ اللَّهِ مَجْرَاهَا وَمُرْسَاهَا ۚ إِنَّ رَبِّي لَغَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ
Wa Qāla Arkabū Fīhā Bismi Al-Lahi Majrāhā Wa Mursāhā ‘Inna Rabbī Laghafūrun Raĥīmun
11:41 And he said, “Board in it! In the name of Allah it will sail and cast anchor. Indeed, my Lord is certainly All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.”
41. Wa qaalar kaboo feehaa bismil laahi majraihaa wa mursaahaa; inna Rabbee la Ghafoorur Raheem
42. وَهِيَ تَجْرِي بِهِمْ فِي مَوْجٍ كَالْجِبَالِ وَنَادَىٰ نُوحٌ ابْنَهُ وَكَانَ فِي مَعْزِلٍ يَا بُنَيَّ ارْكَبْ مَعَنَا وَلَا تَكُنْ مَعَ الْكَافِرِينَ
Wa Hiya Tajrī Bihim Fī Mawjin Kāljibāli Wa Nādá Nūĥun Abnahu Wa Kāna Fī Ma`zilin Yā Bunayya Arkab Ma`anā Wa Lā Takun Ma`a Al-Kāfirīna
11:42 And it sailed/flowed with them on the waves like mountains, and Noah called out to his son, and he (i.e., son) was in place apart/ a separate place ˹from them˺, “O my son! Board with us and do not be with the disbelievers.”
42. Wa hiya tajree bihim fee mawjin kaljibaali wa naadaa Noohunib nahoo wa kaana fee ma’ziliny yaa bunai yarkam ma’anaa wa laa takum ma’al kaafireen
43. قَالَ سَآوِي إِلَىٰ جَبَلٍ يَعْصِمُنِي مِنَ الْمَاءِ ۚ قَالَ لَا عَاصِمَ الْيَوْمَ مِنْ أَمْرِ اللَّهِ إِلَّا مَنْ رَحِمَ ۚ وَحَالَ بَيْنَهُمَا الْمَوْجُ فَكَانَ مِنَ الْمُغْرَقِينَ
Qāla Sa’āwī ‘Ilá Jabalin Ya`şimunī Mina Al-Mā’i Qāla Lā `Āşima Al-Yawma Min ‘Amri Al-Lahi ‘Illā Man Raĥima Wa Ĥāla Baynahumā Al-Mawju Fakāna Mina Al-Mughraqīna
11:43 he (i.e., son) said, “I will take refuge on a mountain, that will protect me from the water.” He (i.e., noah) said, ” There is no protector today from the Command of Allah except, on whom He has mercy.” And the waves came in between them, so he (i.e., son) was among the drowned.
43. Qaala sa aaweee ilaa jabaliny ya’simunee minal maaa’; qaala laa ‘aasimal yawma min amril laahi illaa mar rahim; wa haala bainahumal mawju fakaana minal mughraqeen
44. وَقِيلَ يَا أَرْضُ ابْلَعِي مَاءَكِ وَيَا سَمَاءُ أَقْلِعِي وَغِيضَ الْمَاءُ وَقُضِيَ الْأَمْرُ وَاسْتَوَتْ عَلَى الْجُودِيِّ ۖ وَقِيلَ بُعْدًا لِلْقَوْمِ الظَّالِمِينَ
Wa Qīla Yā ‘Arđu Abla`ī Mā’aki Wa Yā Samā’u ‘Aqli`ī Wa Ghīđa Al-Mā’u Wa Quđiya Al-‘Amru Wa Astawat `Alá Al-Jūdīyi Wa Qīla Bu`dāan Lilqawmi Až-Žālimīna
11:44 And it was said, “O earth! Swallow up your water, and O sky! Withhold ˹your rain˺,” And the water subsided, and the Command was fulfilled. And it (i.e., ship) rested on the Mount Judi. And it was said, “Away with the wrongdoing people.”
44. Wa qeela yaaa ardubla’ee maaa’aki wa yaa samaaa’u aqli’ee wa gheedal maaa’u wa qudiyal amru wastawat ‘alal joodiyyi wa qeela bu’dal lilqawmiz zaalimeen
45. وَنَادَىٰ نُوحٌ رَبَّهُ فَقَالَ رَبِّ إِنَّ ابْنِي مِنْ أَهْلِي وَإِنَّ وَعْدَكَ الْحَقُّ وَأَنْتَ أَحْكَمُ الْحَاكِمِينَ
Wa Nādá Nūĥun Rabbahu Faqāla Rabbi ‘Inna Abnī Min ‘Ahlī Wa ‘Inna Wa`daka Al-Ĥaqqu Wa ‘Anta ‘Aĥkamu Al-Ĥākimīna
11:45 And Noah called to his Lord and said, “O my Lord! Indeed, my son is/was of my family, and indeed, Your promise is true, and You are the Most Just of all the judges.”
45. Wa naadaa noohur Rabbahoo faqaala Rabbi innabnee min ahlee wa inna wa’dakal haqqu wa Anta ahkamul haakimeen
46. قَالَ يَا نُوحُ إِنَّهُ لَيْسَ مِنْ أَهْلِكَ ۖ إِنَّهُ عَمَلٌ غَيْرُ صَالِحٍ ۖ فَلَا تَسْأَلْنِ مَا لَيْسَ لَكَ بِهِ عِلْمٌ ۖ إِنِّي أَعِظُكَ أَنْ تَكُونَ مِنَ الْجَاهِلِينَ
Qāla Yā Nūĥu ‘Innahu Laysa Min ‘Ahlika ‘Innahu `Amalun Ghayru Şāliĥin Falā Tas’alni Mā Laysa Laka Bihi `Ilmun ‘Innī ‘A`ižuka ‘An Takūna Mina Al-Jāhilīna
11:46 He ˹Allah˺ said, “O Noah! Indeed, he is not of your family; indeed, he, had deed other than righteous, so do not ask Me about what you do not have any knowledge of it. Indeed, I warn/advise you lest/so you do not be among the ignorant.“
I warn you not to be among the ignorant.“
46. Qaala yaa Noohu innahoo laisa min ahlika innahoo ‘amalun ghairu saalihin falaa tas’alni maa laisa laka bihee ‘ilmun inneee a’izuka an takoona minal jaahileen
47. قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ أَنْ أَسْأَلَكَ مَا لَيْسَ لِي بِهِ عِلْمٌ ۖ وَإِلَّا تَغْفِرْ لِي وَتَرْحَمْنِي أَكُنْ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ
Qāla Rabbi ‘Innī ‘A`ūdhu Bika ‘An ‘As’alaka Mā Laysa Lī Bihi `Ilmun Wa ‘Illā Taghfir Lī Wa Tarĥamnī ‘Akun Mina Al-Khāsirīna
11:47 he ˹Noah˺ said, “O my Lord! Indeed, I seek refuge in You, that I should ask You about what I have no knowledge of it. And unless You forgive me and You have mercy on me, I will be among the losers.“
47. Qaala rabbi inneee a’oozu bika an as’alaka maa laisa lee bihee ‘ilmunw wa illaa taghfir lee wa tarhamneee akum minal khaasireen
48. قِيلَ يَا نُوحُ اهْبِطْ بِسَلَامٍ مِنَّا وَبَرَكَاتٍ عَلَيْكَ وَعَلَىٰ أُمَمٍ مِمَّنْ مَعَكَ ۚ وَأُمَمٌ سَنُمَتِّعُهُمْ ثُمَّ يَمَسُّهُمْ مِنَّا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ
Qīla Yā Nūĥu Ahbiţ Bisalāmin Minnā Wa Barakātin `Alayka Wa `Alá ‘Umamin Mimman Ma`aka Wa ‘Umamun Sanumatti`uhum Thumma Yamassuhum Minnā `Adhābun ‘Alīmun
11:48 It was said, “O Noah! Go down with peace from Us and blessings on you and on the nations ˹descending˺ from those with you. But ˹to other˺ nations We will grant ˹a brief˺ enjoyment; then a painful punishment from Us will touch/reach them.”
48. Qeela yaa Noohuh bit bisalaamim minnaa wa barakaatin ‘alaika wa ‘alaaa umamim mimmam ma’ak; wa umamun sanumatti’uhum summa yamassuhum minna ‘azaabun aleem
49. تِلْكَ مِنْ أَنْبَاءِ الْغَيْبِ نُوحِيهَا إِلَيْكَ ۖ مَا كُنْتَ تَعْلَمُهَا أَنْتَ وَلَا قَوْمُكَ مِنْ قَبْلِ هَٰذَا ۖ فَاصْبِرْ ۖ إِنَّ الْعَاقِبَةَ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ
Tilka Min ‘Anbā’i Al-Ghaybi Nūĥīhā ‘Ilayka Mā Kunta Ta`lamuhā ‘Anta Wa Lā Qawmuka Min Qabli Hādhā Fāşbir ‘Inna Al-`Āqibata Lilmuttaqīna
11:49 This is from the news of the unseen, which We reveal to you ˹O Prophet˺. Neither you and nor your people were knowing it from before this. So be patient; indeed, the outcome is for the righteous.“
You were not knowing it, ˹neither˺ you and nor your people from before this.
You and nor your people were not knowing it from before this.
Neither you and nor your people were knowing it from before this.
49. Tilka min ambaaa’il ghaibi nooheehaaa ilaika maa kunta ta’lamuhaaaa anta wa laa qawmuka min qabli haazaa fasbir innal ‘aaqibata lilmuttaqeen (section 4)
50. وَإِلَىٰ عَادٍ أَخَاهُمْ هُودًا ۚ قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مَا لَكُمْ مِنْ إِلَٰهٍ غَيْرُهُ ۖ إِنْ أَنْتُمْ إِلَّا مُفْتَرُونَ
Wa ‘Ilá `Ādin ‘Akhāhum Hūdāan Qāla Yā Qawmi A`budū Al-Laha Mā Lakum Min ‘Ilahin Ghayruhu ‘In ‘Antum ‘Illā Muftarūna
11:50 And to ˹the people of˺ Aad ˹We sent˺ their brother Hud. He ˹Hud˺ said, “O my people! Worship Allah, You do not have any god, other than Him. You are nothing but inventors ˹of lies against Allah˺ ˹of lies˺.
For you do not have any god, other than Him.
There is not for you any god, other than Him.
There is not any god for you, other than Him.
For you there is not any god, other than Him.
You do not have any god, other than Him.
50. Wa ilaa ‘aadin akhaahum Hoodaa; qaala yaa qawmi’ budul laaha maa lakum min ilaahin ghairuhooo in antum illaa muftaroon
51. يَا قَوْمِ لَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ أَجْرًا ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَى الَّذِي فَطَرَنِي ۚ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ
Yā Qawmi Lā ‘As’alukum `Alayhi ‘Ajrāan ‘In ‘Ajriya ‘Illā `Alá Al-Ladhī Faţaranī ‘Afalā Ta`qilūna
11:51 O my people! I do not ask you for it (i.e., message) any wealth. My reward is from none except the One Who created me. Then will you not understand/use reason?
51. Yaa qawmi laaa as’alukum ‘alaihi ajran in ajriya illaa ‘alal lazee fataranee; afalaa ta’qiloon
52. وَيَا قَوْمِ اسْتَغْفِرُوا رَبَّكُمْ ثُمَّ تُوبُوا إِلَيْهِ يُرْسِلِ السَّمَاءَ عَلَيْكُمْ مِدْرَارًا وَيَزِدْكُمْ قُوَّةً إِلَىٰ قُوَّتِكُمْ وَلَا تَتَوَلَّوْا مُجْرِمِينَ
Wa Yā Qawmi Astaghfirū Rabbakum Thumma Tūbū ‘Ilayhi Yursili As-Samā’a `Alaykum Midrārāan Wa Yazidkum Qūwatan ‘Ilá Qūwatikum Wa Lā Tatawallaw Mujrimīna
11:52 And O my people! Ask your Lord for forgiveness and turn to Him in repentance. He will send upon you ˹rain from˺ the sky in abundance and increase you in strength ˹in addition˺ to your strength. And do not turn away being/as criminals.”
52. Wa yaa qawmis taghfiroo Rabbakum summa toobooo ilaihi yursilis samaaa’a ‘alaikum midraaranw wa yazidkum quwwatan ilaa quwwatikum wa laa tatawallaw mujrimeen
53. قَالُوا يَا هُودُ مَا جِئْتَنَا بِبَيِّنَةٍ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِتَارِكِي آلِهَتِنَا عَنْ قَوْلِكَ وَمَا نَحْنُ لَكَ بِمُؤْمِنِينَ
Qālū Yā Hūdu Mā Ji’tanā Bibayyinatin Wa Mā Naĥnu Bitārikī ‘Ālihatinā `An Qawlika Wa Mā Naĥnu Laka Bimu’uminīna
11:53 They said, “O Hud! You have not brought us clear proofs, and we will not leave our gods on/upon your saying/word, and nor are we believers in you.
and nor will we believe in you.
53. Qaaloo yaa Hoodu maa ji’tanaa bibaiyinatinw wa maa nahnu bitaarikeee aalihatinaa ‘an qawlika wa maa nahnu laka bimu’mineen
54. إِنْ نَقُولُ إِلَّا اعْتَرَاكَ بَعْضُ آلِهَتِنَا بِسُوءٍ ۗ قَالَ إِنِّي أُشْهِدُ اللَّهَ وَاشْهَدُوا أَنِّي بَرِيءٌ مِمَّا تُشْرِكُونَ
‘In Naqūlu ‘Illā A`tarāka Ba`đu ‘Ālihatinā Bisū’in Qāla ‘Innī ‘Ush/hidu Al-Laha Wa Ash/hadū ‘Annī Barī’un Mimmā Tushrikūna
11:54 We say nothing, except that, some of our gods have seized you with evil.” He ˹Hud˺ said, “Indeed, I call Allah to witness and ˹you too˺ bear witness that I am innocent/free of what you associate
54. In naqoolu illa’ taraaka ba’du aalihatinaa bisooo’; qaala inneee ushhidul laaha wash hadooo annee bareee’um mimmaa tushrikoon
55. مِنْ دُونِهِ ۖ فَكِيدُونِي جَمِيعًا ثُمَّ لَا تُنْظِرُونِ
Min Dūnihi Fakīdūnī Jamī`āan Thumma Lā Tunžirūni
11:55 from other than Him ˹in worship˺. So plot against me all together, then do not give me respite/delay.
55. Min doonihee fakeedoonee jamee’an summa laa tunziroon
56. إِنِّي تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ رَبِّي وَرَبِّكُمْ ۚ مَا مِنْ دَابَّةٍ إِلَّا هُوَ آخِذٌ بِنَاصِيَتِهَا ۚ إِنَّ رَبِّي عَلَىٰ صِرَاطٍ مُسْتَقِيمٍ
‘Innī Tawakkaltu `Alá Al-Lahi Rabbī Wa Rabbikum Mā Min Dābbatin ‘Illā Huwa ‘Ākhidhun Bināşiyatihā ‘Inna Rabbī `Alá Şirāţin Mustaqīmin
11:56 Indeed, I put my trust upon Allah — my Lord, and your Lord. There is not from a moving creature but He has grasp of its forelock. Indeed, my Lord is on a straight path.
56. Innee tawakkaltu ‘alallaahi Rabbee wa Rabbikum; maa min daaabbatin illaa Huwa aakhizum binaasiyatihaa; inna Rabbee ‘alaa Siraatim mustaqeem
57. فَإِنْ تَوَلَّوْا فَقَدْ أَبْلَغْتُكُمْ مَا أُرْسِلْتُ بِهِ إِلَيْكُمْ ۚ وَيَسْتَخْلِفُ رَبِّي قَوْمًا غَيْرَكُمْ وَلَا تَضُرُّونَهُ شَيْئًا ۚ إِنَّ رَبِّي عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ حَفِيظٌ
Fa’in Tawallaw Faqad ‘Ablaghtukum Mā ‘Ursiltu Bihi ‘Ilaykum Wa Yastakhlifu Rabbī Qawmāan Ghayrakum Wa Lā Tađurrūnahu Shay’āan ‘Inna Rabbī `Alá Kulli Shay’in Ĥafīžun
11:57 But if you turn away, then verily I have delivered to you what I was sent to you with. And my Lord will give succession/ replace you to/with a people other than you, and you can not harm Him in anything. Indeed, my Lord is a Guardian over all things.“
57. Fa in tawallaw faqad ablaghtukum maaa ursiltu biheee ilaikum; wa yastakhlifu Rabbee qawman ghairakum wa laa tadur roonahoo shai’aa; inna Rabbee ‘alaa kulli shai’in Hafeez
58. وَلَمَّا جَاءَ أَمْرُنَا نَجَّيْنَا هُودًا وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مَعَهُ بِرَحْمَةٍ مِنَّا وَنَجَّيْنَاهُمْ مِنْ عَذَابٍ غَلِيظٍ
Wa Lammā Jā’a ‘Amrunā Najjaynā Hūdāan Wa Al-Ladhīna ‘Āmanū Ma`ahu Biraĥmatin Minnā Wa Najjaynāhum Min `Adhābin Ghalīžin
11:58 And when Our command came, We saved/ rescued Hud and those who believed with him by a Mercy from Us and We saved them from a severe punishment.
58. Wa lammaa jaaa’a amrunaa najainaa Hoodanw wallazeena aamanoo ma’ahoo birahmatim minnaa wa najainaahum min ‘azaabin ghaleez
59. وَتِلْكَ عَادٌ ۖ جَحَدُوا بِآيَاتِ رَبِّهِمْ وَعَصَوْا رُسُلَهُ وَاتَّبَعُوا أَمْرَ كُلِّ جَبَّارٍ عَنِيدٍ
Wa Tilka `Ādun Jaĥadū Bi’āyāti Rabbihim Wa `Aşaw Rusulahu Wa Attaba`ū ‘Amra Kulli Jabbārin `Anīdin
11:59 And this was Aad, they rejected the Signs of their Lord and disobeyed His Messengers and followed the command of every stubborn tyrant.
59. Wa tilka ‘aad, jahadoo bi Aayaati Rabbihim wa ‘asaw Rusulahoo wattaba’ooo amra kulli jabbaarin ‘aneed
60. وَأُتْبِعُوا فِي هَٰذِهِ الدُّنْيَا لَعْنَةً وَيَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ۗ أَلَا إِنَّ عَادًا كَفَرُوا رَبَّهُمْ ۗ أَلَا بُعْدًا لِعَادٍ قَوْمِ هُودٍ
Wa ‘Utbi`ū Fī Hadhihi Ad-Dunyā La`natan Wa Yawma Al-Qiyāmati ‘Alā ‘Inna `Ādāan Kafarū Rabbahum ‘Alā Bu`dāan Li`ādin Qawmi Hūdin
11:60 And they were followed by a curse in this world and on the Day of the Resurrection. Unquestionably! Indeed, Aad disbelieved their Lord, So away with Aad, the people of Hud.
11:60 And they were followed in this world by a curse and (on the) Day (of) the Resurrection. No doubt! Indeed, Aad disbelieved their Lord, So away with Aad, (the) people (of) Hud.
60. Wa utbi’oo fee haazihid dunyaa la’natanw wa Yawmal Qiyaamah; alaaa inna ‘Aadan kafaroo Rabbahum; alaa bu’dal li ‘Aadin qawmin Hood (section 5)
61-123
61. وَإِلَىٰ ثَمُودَ أَخَاهُمْ صَالِحًا ۚ قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مَا لَكُمْ مِنْ إِلَٰهٍ غَيْرُهُ ۖ هُوَ أَنْشَأَكُمْ مِنَ الْأَرْضِ وَاسْتَعْمَرَكُمْ فِيهَا فَاسْتَغْفِرُوهُ ثُمَّ تُوبُوا إِلَيْهِ ۚ إِنَّ رَبِّي قَرِيبٌ مُجِيبٌ
Wa ‘Ilá Thamūda ‘Akhāhum Şāliĥāan Qāla Yā Qawmi A`budū Al-Laha Mā Lakum Min ‘Ilahin Ghayruhu Huwa ‘Ansha’akum Mina Al-‘Arđi Wa Asta`marakum Fīhā Fāstaghfirūhu Thumma Tūbū ‘Ilayhi ‘Inna Rabbī Qarībun Mujībun
11:61 And to the people of Thamud We sent their brother Salih. He said, “O my people! Worship Allah, You do not have any god other than Him. He produced you from the earth and settled you in it. So ask forgiveness of/from Him, and turn to Him in repentance. Indeed, my Lord is Ever Near, All-Responsive ˹to prayers˺.”
61. Wa ilaa Samooda akhaahum Saalihaa; qaala yaa qawmi’ budul laaha maa lakum min ilaahim ghairuhoo Huwa ansha akum minal ardi wasta’ marakum feehaa fastaghfiroohu summa toobooo ilaih; inna Rabbee Qareebum Mujeeb
62. قَالُوا يَا صَالِحُ قَدْ كُنْتَ فِينَا مَرْجُوًّا قَبْلَ هَٰذَا ۖ أَتَنْهَانَا أَنْ نَعْبُدَ مَا يَعْبُدُ آبَاؤُنَا وَإِنَّنَا لَفِي شَكٍّ مِمَّا تَدْعُونَا إِلَيْهِ مُرِيبٍ
Qālū Yā Şāliĥu Qad Kunta Fīnā Marjūwāan Qabla Hādhā ‘Atanhānā ‘An Na`buda Mā Ya`budu ‘Ābā’uunā Wa ‘Innanā Lafī Shakkin Mimmā Tad`ūnā ‘Ilayhi Murībin
11:62 They said, O Salih! Verily you were among us the one in whom hope was placed before this. Do you forbid us that we worship what our forefathers worshipped? And indeed we surely are in doubt about what you call us to, as suspicious.”
Do you forbid us to worship what our forefathers worshipped? And indeed we surely are in suspicious doubt about what you call us to.”
62. Qaaloo yaa Saalihu qad kunta feenaa marjuwwan qabla haazaaa atanhaanaaa an na’bu da maa ya’budu aabaaa’unaa wa innanaa lafee shakkim mimmaa tad’oonaaa ilaihi mureeb
63. قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ أَرَأَيْتُمْ إِنْ كُنْتُ عَلَىٰ بَيِّنَةٍ مِنْ رَبِّي وَآتَانِي مِنْهُ رَحْمَةً فَمَنْ يَنْصُرُنِي مِنَ اللَّهِ إِنْ عَصَيْتُهُ ۖ فَمَا تَزِيدُونَنِي غَيْرَ تَخْسِيرٍ
Qāla Yā Qawmi ‘Ara’aytum ‘In Kuntu `Alá Bayyinatin Min Rabbī Wa ‘Ātānī Minhu Raĥmatan Faman Yanşurunī Mina Al-Lahi ‘In `Aşaytuhu Famā Tazīdūnanī Ghayra Takhsīrin
11:63 He said, “O my people! Do you see/consider, if I am on the clear proof from my Lord, and He has given me Mercy from Him, then who can/could help me against Allah, if I were to disobey Him? So you would not increase me except in loss.
“O my people! Do you see/consider if I am on the clear proof from my Lord, while He has given me mercy from Himself
63. Qaala yaa qawmi ara’aytum in kuntu ‘alaa baiyinatim mir Rabbee wa aataanee minhu rahmatan famai yansurunee minal laahi in ‘asaituhoo famaa tazeedoonanee ghaira takhseer
64. وَيَا قَوْمِ هَٰذِهِ نَاقَةُ اللَّهِ لَكُمْ آيَةً فَذَرُوهَا تَأْكُلْ فِي أَرْضِ اللَّهِ وَلَا تَمَسُّوهَا بِسُوءٍ فَيَأْخُذَكُمْ عَذَابٌ قَرِيبٌ
Wa Yā Qawmi Hadhihi Nāqatu Al-Lahi Lakum ‘Āyatan Fadharūhā Ta’kul Fī ‘Arđi Al-Lahi Wa Lā Tamassūhā Bisū’in Faya’khudhakum `Adhābun Qarībun
11:64 And O my people! This she-camel of Allah is a Sign for you, so leave her to eat ˹freely˺ in the earth of Allah, and do not touch her with harm, then/or a near punishment will seize/overtake you.“
64. Wa yaa qawmi haazihee naaqatul laahi lakum aayatan fazaroohaa taakul feee ardil laahi wa laa tamassoohaa bisooo’in fa yaakhuzakum azaabun qareeb
65. فَعَقَرُوهَا فَقَالَ تَمَتَّعُوا فِي دَارِكُمْ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ ۖ ذَٰلِكَ وَعْدٌ غَيْرُ مَكْذُوبٍ
Fa`aqarūhā Faqāla Tamatta`ū Fī Dārikum Thalāthata ‘Ayyāmin Dhālika Wa`dun Ghayru Makdhūbin
11:65 But they hamstrung (i.e., slaughtered) her. So he ˹Salih˺ said ˹to them˺, “Enjoy yourselves in your homes ˹only˺ for three ˹more˺ days. That is a promise not to be false.”
That is not a false promise.”
65. Fa ‘aqaroohaa faqaala tamatta’oo fee daarikum salaasata aiyaamin zaalika wa’dun ghairu makzoob
66. فَلَمَّا جَاءَ أَمْرُنَا نَجَّيْنَا صَالِحًا وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مَعَهُ بِرَحْمَةٍ مِنَّا وَمِنْ خِزْيِ يَوْمِئِذٍ ۗ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ الْقَوِيُّ الْعَزِيزُ
Falammā Jā’a ‘Amrunā Najjaynā Şāliĥāan Wa Al-Ladhīna ‘Āmanū Ma`ahu Biraĥmatin Minnā Wa Min Khizyi Yawmi’idhin ‘Inna Rabbaka Huwa Al-Qawīyu Al-`Azīzu
11:66 So when Our command came, We saved Salih and those who believed with him by a Mercy from Us and ˹spared them˺ from the disgrace of that Day. Indeed, your Lord, He is All-Powerful, All-Mighty.
66. Falammaa jaaa’a amrunaa najjainaa Saalihanw wal lazeena aamanoo ma’ahoo birahmatim minnaa wa min khizyi Yawmi’iz inna Rabbaka Huwal Qawiyyul ‘Azeez
67. وَأَخَذَ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا الصَّيْحَةُ فَأَصْبَحُوا فِي دِيَارِهِمْ جَاثِمِينَ
Wa ‘Akhadha Al-Ladhīna Žalamū Aş-Şayĥatu Fa’aşbaĥū Fī Diyārihim Jāthimīna
11:67 And the ˹mighty˺ blast overtook those who wronged, so they fell lifeless in their homes.

67. Wa akhazal lazeena zalamus saihatu fa asbahoo fee diyaarihim jaasimeena
68. كَأَنْ لَمْ يَغْنَوْا فِيهَا ۗ أَلَا إِنَّ ثَمُودَ كَفَرُوا رَبَّهُمْ ۗ أَلَا بُعْدًا لِثَمُودَ
Ka’an Lam Yaghnaw Fīhā ‘Alā ‘Inna Thamūda Kafarū Rabbahum ‘Alā Bu`dāan Lithamūda
11:68 as if they had never lived there. Unquestionably! Indeed, Thamud disbelieved their Lord, so away with Thamud.
68. Ka al lam yaghnaw feehaaa; alaaa inna Samooda kafaroo Rabbahum; alaa bu’dal li Samood. (section 6)
69. وَلَقَدْ جَاءَتْ رُسُلُنَا إِبْرَاهِيمَ بِالْبُشْرَىٰ قَالُوا سَلَامًا ۖ قَالَ سَلَامٌ ۖ فَمَا لَبِثَ أَنْ جَاءَ بِعِجْلٍ حَنِيذٍ
Wa Laqad Jā’at Rusulunā ‘Ibrāhīma Bil-Bushrá Qālū Salāmāan Qāla Salāmun Famā Labitha ‘An Jā’a Bi`ijlin Ĥanīdhin
11:69 And certainly Our messengers (i.e., the angels) came to Abraham with good news ˹of a son˺, they said, “Peace.” He said, “Peace,” and he did not delay to bring ˹them˺ a roasted calf.
69. Wa laqad jaaa’at Rusulunaaa Ibraaheema bilbushraa qaaloo salaaman qaala salaamun famaa labisa an jaaa’a bi’ijlin haneez
70. فَلَمَّا رَأَىٰ أَيْدِيَهُمْ لَا تَصِلُ إِلَيْهِ نَكِرَهُمْ وَأَوْجَسَ مِنْهُمْ خِيفَةً ۚ قَالُوا لَا تَخَفْ إِنَّا أُرْسِلْنَا إِلَىٰ قَوْمِ لُوطٍ
Falammā Ra’á ‘Aydiyahum Lā Taşilu ‘Ilayhi Nakirahum Wa ‘Awjasa Minhum Khīfatan Qālū Lā Takhaf ‘Innā ‘Ursilnā ‘Ilá Qawmi Lūţin
11:70 But when he saw their hands not reaching towards it (i.e., food), he felt unfamiliar of them and felt fearful of them. They said, “Do not fear. Indeed, we (i.e., angels) have been sent to the people of Lot.“
70. Falammaa ra aaa aidiyahum laa tasilu ilaihi nakirahum wa awjasa minhum kheefah; qaaloo laa takhaf innaaa ursilnaaa ilaa qawmi Loot
71. وَامْرَأَتُهُ قَائِمَةٌ فَضَحِكَتْ فَبَشَّرْنَاهَا بِإِسْحَاقَ وَمِنْ وَرَاءِ إِسْحَاقَ يَعْقُوبَ
Wa Amra’atuhu Qā’imatun Fađaĥikat Fabashsharnāhā Bi’isĥāqa Wa Min Warā’i ‘Isĥāqa Ya`qūba
11:71 And his wife was standing and she laughed. Then We gave her good news of ˹the birth of˺ Isaac, and from after Isaac of ˹his son˺ Jacob.
71. Wamra atuhoo qaaa’imatun fadahikat fabashsharnaahaa bi Ishaaqa wa minw waraaa’i Ishaaqa Ya’qoob
72. قَالَتْ يَا وَيْلَتَىٰ أَأَلِدُ وَأَنَا عَجُوزٌ وَهَٰذَا بَعْلِي شَيْخًا ۖ إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَشَيْءٌ عَجِيبٌ
Qālat Yā Waylatā ‘A’alidu Wa ‘Anā `Ajūzun Wa Hadhā Ba`lī Shaykhāan ‘Inna Hādhā Lashay’un `Ajībun
11:72 She said, “Oh my! Shall I give birth while I am an old woman and my husband here is an old man? Indeed, this is surely an astonishing thing.”
72. Qaalat yaa wailataaa ‘aalidu wa ana ‘ajoozunw wa haaza ba’lee shaikhan inna haazaa lashai’un ‘ajeeb
73. قَالُوا أَتَعْجَبِينَ مِنْ أَمْرِ اللَّهِ ۖ رَحْمَتُ اللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ عَلَيْكُمْ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ ۚ إِنَّهُ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ
Qālū ‘Ata`jabīna Min ‘Amri Al-Lahi Raĥmatu Al-Lahi Wa Barakātuhu `Alaykum ‘Ahla Al-Bayti ‘Innahu Ĥamīdun Majīdun
11:73 They said, “Are you astonished at the decree of Allah? May the Mercy of Allah and His blessings be upon you, O people of the house. Indeed, He is All-Praiseworthy, All-Glorious.”
73. Qaalooo ata’jabeena min amril laahi rahmatul laahi wa barakaatuhoo ‘alaikum Ahlal Bayt; innahoo Hameedun Majeed
74. فَلَمَّا ذَهَبَ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الرَّوْعُ وَجَاءَتْهُ الْبُشْرَىٰ يُجَادِلُنَا فِي قَوْمِ لُوطٍ
Falammā Dhahaba `An ‘Ibrāhīma Ar-Raw`u Wa Jā’at/hu Al-Bushrá Yujādilunā Fī Qawmi Lūţin
11:74 And when the fear had gone away from Abraham, and the good news had reached him, he pleaded with Us, concerning the people of Lot.
74. Falammaa zahaba an Ibraaheemar raw’u wa jaaa’at hul bushraaa yujaadilunaa fee qawmi Loot
75. إِنَّ إِبْرَاهِيمَ لَحَلِيمٌ أَوَّاهٌ مُنِيبٌ
‘Inna ‘Ibrāhīma Laĥalīmun ‘Awwāhun Munībun
11:75 Indeed, Ibrahim was certainly forbearing (i.e., tolerant) , tender-hearted and ever turning ˹to his Lord˺.
75. Inna Ibraaheema la haleemun awwaahun muneeb
76. يَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ أَعْرِضْ عَنْ هَٰذَا ۖ إِنَّهُ قَدْ جَاءَ أَمْرُ رَبِّكَ ۖ وَإِنَّهُمْ آتِيهِمْ عَذَابٌ غَيْرُ مَرْدُودٍ
Yā ‘Ibrāhīmu ‘A`riđ `An Hādhā ‘Innahu Qad Jā’a ‘Amru Rabbika Wa ‘Innahum ‘Ātīhim `Adhābun Ghayru Mardūdin
11:76 O Abraham! Turn away from this. Indeed, certainly the Command of your Lord has come, and indeed there will come to them a punishment that cannot be turned back.
76. Yaaa Ibraaheemu a’rid ‘an haazaaa innahoo qad jaaa’a amru Rabbika wa innahum aateehim ‘azaabun ghairun mardood
77. وَلَمَّا جَاءَتْ رُسُلُنَا لُوطًا سِيءَ بِهِمْ وَضَاقَ بِهِمْ ذَرْعًا وَقَالَ هَٰذَا يَوْمٌ عَصِيبٌ
Wa Lammā Jā’at Rusulunā Lūţāan Sī’a Bihim Wa Đāqa Bihim Dhar`āan Wa Qāla Hādhā Yawmun `Aşībun
11:77 And when Our messengers (i.e., the angels) came to Lot, he was distressed for them and felt straitened/limited/ tightened for them being helpless/powerless, and said, “This is a difficult/terrible day.”
77. Wa lammaa jaaa’at Rusulunaa Lootan seee’a bihim wa daaqa bihim zar’anw wa qaala haazaa yawmun ‘aseeb
78. وَجَاءَهُ قَوْمُهُ يُهْرَعُونَ إِلَيْهِ وَمِنْ قَبْلُ كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ السَّيِّئَاتِ ۚ قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ هَٰؤُلَاءِ بَنَاتِي هُنَّ أَطْهَرُ لَكُمْ ۖ فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَلَا تُخْزُونِ فِي ضَيْفِي ۖ أَلَيْسَ مِنْكُمْ رَجُلٌ رَشِيدٌ
Wa Jā’ahu Qawmuhu Yuhra`ūna ‘Ilayhi Wa Min Qablu Kānū Ya`malūna As-Sayyi’āti Qāla Yā Qawmi Hā’uulā’ Banātī Hunna ‘Aţharu Lakum Fa Attaqū Al-Laha Wa Lā Tukhzūnī Fī Đayfī ‘Alaysa Minkum Rajulun Rashīdun
11:78 And his people came to him rushing to him, and from before ˹this˺ they had been doing the evil deeds. He said, “O my people! These are my daughters ˹for marriage˺, they are purer for you. So fear Allah, and do not humiliate me concerning my guests. Is there not ˹even˺ a right-minded man among you?”
78. Wa jaaa’ahoo qawmuhoo yuhra’oona ilaihi wa min qablu kaanoo ya’maloonas saiyiaat; qaala yaa qawmi haaa’ulaaa’i banaatee hunna atharu lakum fattaqul laaha wa laa tukhzooni fee daifee alaisa minkum rajulur rasheed
79. قَالُوا لَقَدْ عَلِمْتَ مَا لَنَا فِي بَنَاتِكَ مِنْ حَقٍّ وَإِنَّكَ لَتَعْلَمُ مَا نُرِيدُ
Qālū Laqad `Alimta Mā Lanā Fī Banātika Min Ĥaqqin Wa ‘Innaka Lata`lamu Mā Nurīdu
11:79 They said, “Verily you know that we do not have any right concerning your daughters. And indeed, you surely know what we want.”
79. Qaaloo laqad ‘alimta maa lanaa fee banaatika min haqq, wa innaka lata’lamu maa nureed
80. قَالَ لَوْ أَنَّ لِي بِكُمْ قُوَّةً أَوْ آوِي إِلَىٰ رُكْنٍ شَدِيدٍ
Qāla Law ‘Anna Lī Bikum Qūwatan ‘Aw ‘Āwī ‘Ilá Ruknin Shadīdin
11:80 He said, “If only I had power over you ˹to resist you˺ or I could take refuge in a strong support.”
80. Qaala law anna lee bikum quwwatan aw aaweee ilaa ruknin shadeed
81. قَالُوا يَا لُوطُ إِنَّا رُسُلُ رَبِّكَ لَنْ يَصِلُوا إِلَيْكَ ۖ فَأَسْرِ بِأَهْلِكَ بِقِطْعٍ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ وَلَا يَلْتَفِتْ مِنْكُمْ أَحَدٌ إِلَّا امْرَأَتَكَ ۖ إِنَّهُ مُصِيبُهَا مَا أَصَابَهُمْ ۚ إِنَّ مَوْعِدَهُمُ الصُّبْحُ ۚ أَلَيْسَ الصُّبْحُ بِقَرِيبٍ
Qālū Yā Lūţu ‘Innā Rusulu Rabbika Lan Yaşilū ‘Ilayka Fa’asri Bi’ahlika Biqiţ`in Mina Al-Layli Wa Lā Yaltafit Minkum ‘Aĥadun ‘Illā Amra’ataka ‘Innahu Muşībuhā Mā ‘Aşābahum ‘Inna Maw`idahumu Aş-Şubĥu ‘Alaysa Aş-Şubĥu Biqarībin
11:81 They ˹the angle˺ said, “O Lot! Indeed, we are messengers of your Lord, they will never reach you. So travel with your family in a part of the night and do not let anyone of you look back, except your wife. Indeed, it will strike her what will strike them. Indeed, their appointed time is morning. Is the morning not near?”
81. Qaaloo yaa Lootu innaa Rusulu Rabbika lai yasiloo ilaika fa asri bi ahlika biqit ‘im minal laili wa laa yaltafit minkum ahadun illam ra ataka innahoo museebuhaa maaa asaabahum; inna maw’i dahumus subh; alaisas subhu biqareeb
82. فَلَمَّا جَاءَ أَمْرُنَا جَعَلْنَا عَالِيَهَا سَافِلَهَا وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهَا حِجَارَةً مِنْ سِجِّيلٍ مَنْضُودٍ
Falammā Jā’a ‘Amrunā Ja`alnā `Āliyahā Sāfilahā Wa ‘Amţarnā `Alayhā Ĥijāratan Min Sijjīlin Manđūdin
11:82 So when Our Command came, We made its upside, its downside, and We rained upon them stones of baked clay in layers.
82. Falammaa jaaa’a amrunaa ja’alnaa ‘aaliyahaa saafilahaa wa amtarnaa ‘alaihaa hijaaratam min sijjeelim mandood
83. مُسَوَّمَةً عِنْدَ رَبِّكَ ۖ وَمَا هِيَ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ بِبَعِيدٍ
Musawwamatan `Inda Rabbika Wa Mā Hiya Mina Až-Žālimīna Biba`īdin
11:83 marked from your Lord. And it is not far from the wrongdoers.
83. Musawwamatan ‘inda Rabbik; wa maa hiya minaz zaalimena biba’eed (section 7)
84. وَإِلَىٰ مَدْيَنَ أَخَاهُمْ شُعَيْبًا ۚ قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مَا لَكُمْ مِنْ إِلَٰهٍ غَيْرُهُ ۖ وَلَا تَنْقُصُوا الْمِكْيَالَ وَالْمِيزَانَ ۚ إِنِّي أَرَاكُمْ بِخَيْرٍ وَإِنِّي أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ مُحِيطٍ
Wa ‘Ilá Madyana ‘Akhāhum Shu`aybāan Qāla Yā Qawmi A`budū Al-Laha Mā Lakum Min ‘Ilahin Ghayruhu Wa Lā Tanquşū Al-Mikyā La Wa Al-Mīzāna ‘Innī ‘Arākum Bikhayrin Wa ‘Innī ‘Akhāfu `Alaykum `Adhāba Yawmin Muĥīţin
11:84 And to the people of Midian, we sent their brother Shuaib. He said, “O my people! Worship Allah, You do not have any god other than Him. And do not give short measure and weight. Indeed, I see you in prosperity, but indeed, I fear for you the punishment of an all-encompassing Day.
For you do not have any god, other than Him.
There is not for you any god, other than Him.
There is not any god for you, other than Him.
For you there is not any god, other than Him.
You do not have any god, other than Him.
84. Wa ilaa Madyana akhaahum Shu’aibaa; qaala yaa qawmi’ budul laaha maa lakum min ilaahin ghairuhoo wa laa tanqusul mikyaala walmeezaan; inneee araakum bikhairinw wa innee akhaafu ‘alaikum ‘azaaba Yawmim muheet
85. وَيَا قَوْمِ أَوْفُوا الْمِكْيَالَ وَالْمِيزَانَ بِالْقِسْطِ ۖ وَلَا تَبْخَسُوا النَّاسَ أَشْيَاءَهُمْ وَلَا تَعْثَوْا فِي الْأَرْضِ مُفْسِدِينَ
Wa Yā Qawmi ‘Awfū Al-Mikyāla Wa Al-Mīzāna Bil-Qisţi Wa Lā Tabkhasū An-Nāsa ‘Ashyā’ahum Wa Lā Ta`thaw Fī Al-‘Arđi Mufsidīna
11:85 And O my people! Give full measure, and weight with justice and do not deprive the people of their things, and do not act wickedly spreading corruption in the earth.
85. Wa yaa qawmi awful mikyaala walmeezaana bilqisti wa laa tabkhasun naasa ashyaaa’ahum wa laa ta’saw fil ardi mufsideen
86. بَقِيَّتُ اللَّهِ خَيْرٌ لَكُمْ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ مُؤْمِنِينَ ۚ وَمَا أَنَا عَلَيْكُمْ بِحَفِيظٍ
Baqīyatu Al-Lahi Khayrun Lakum ‘In Kuntum Mu’uminīna Wa Mā ‘Anā `Alaykum Biĥafīžin
11:86 What remains ˹as a lawful gain˺ from Allah is best for you, if you are believers. And I am not a guardian over you.
86. Baqiyyatul laahi khairul lakum in kuntum mu’mineen; wa maa ana ‘alaikum bihafeez
87. قَالُوا يَا شُعَيْبُ أَصَلَاتُكَ تَأْمُرُكَ أَنْ نَتْرُكَ مَا يَعْبُدُ آبَاؤُنَا أَوْ أَنْ نَفْعَلَ فِي أَمْوَالِنَا مَا نَشَاءُ ۖ إِنَّكَ لَأَنْتَ الْحَلِيمُ الرَّشِيدُ
Qālū Yā Shu`aybu ‘Aşalātuka Ta’muruka ‘An Natruka Mā Ya`budu ‘Ābā’uunā ‘Aw ‘An Naf`ala Fī ‘Amwālinā Mā Nashā’u ‘Innaka La’anta Al-Ĥalīmu Ar-Rashīdu
11:87 They said, ˹sarcastically˺ “O Shuaib! Does your prayer command you that we should leave/abandon what our forefathers worshipped, or not do with our wealth what we please? Indeed you, you are surely the forbearing (i.e., tolerant), the rightly guided man.”
11:87 They said, “O Shuaib! Does your prayer command you that we should leave/abandon what our forefathers worshipped, or that we can not do concerning our wealth what we will/please/ want? Indeed you, you are surely the forbearing (i.e., tolerant), the right-minded man.”
87. Qaaloo yaa Shu’aybu ‘a salaatuka ta’muruka an natruka maa ya’budu aabaaa’unaaa aw an naf’ala feee amwaalinaa maa nashaaa’oo innaka la antal haleemur rasheed
88. قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ أَرَأَيْتُمْ إِنْ كُنْتُ عَلَىٰ بَيِّنَةٍ مِنْ رَبِّي وَرَزَقَنِي مِنْهُ رِزْقًا حَسَنًا ۚ وَمَا أُرِيدُ أَنْ أُخَالِفَكُمْ إِلَىٰ مَا أَنْهَاكُمْ عَنْهُ ۚ إِنْ أُرِيدُ إِلَّا الْإِصْلَاحَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُ ۚ وَمَا تَوْفِيقِي إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ ۚ عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَإِلَيْهِ أُنِيبُ
Qāla Yā Qawmi ‘Ara’aytum ‘In Kuntu `Alá Bayyinatin Min Rabbī Wa Razaqanī Minhu Rizqāan Ĥasanāan Wa Mā ‘Urīdu ‘An ‘Ukhālifakum ‘Ilá Mā ‘Anhākum `Anhu ‘In ‘Urīdu ‘Illā Al-‘Işlāĥa Mā Astaţa`tu Wa Mā Tawfīqī ‘Illā Bil-Lahi `Alayhi Tawakkaltu Wa ‘Ilayhi ‘Unību
11:88 He said, “O my people! Do you see if I am on a clear proof from my Lord, and He has provided me a good provision from Him? And I do not want that I contradict you by doing it myself to what I am forbidding you from it. I want nothing but to set things right as much as I am can/ to the best of my ability. And my success is not except with Allah. Upon Him I trust and to Him I turn.
11:88 He said, “O my people! Do you see if I am on a clear proof from my Lord, and He has provided me a good provision from Him? And I do not intend that I differ from you in what I forbid you from it. Not I intend except the reform from as much as I am able. And my success is not except/but with Allah. Upon Him I trust and to Him I turn.
88. Qaala yaa qawmi ara’aitum in kuntu ‘alaa baiyinatim mir Rabbee wa razaqanee minhu rizqan hasanaa; wa maaa ureedu an ukhaalifakum ilaa maaa anhaakum ‘anh; in ureedu illal islaaha mastata’t; wa maa tawfeeqeee illaa billaah; ‘alaihi tawakkaltu wa ilaihi uneeb
89. وَيَا قَوْمِ لَا يَجْرِمَنَّكُمْ شِقَاقِي أَنْ يُصِيبَكُمْ مِثْلُ مَا أَصَابَ قَوْمَ نُوحٍ أَوْ قَوْمَ هُودٍ أَوْ قَوْمَ صَالِحٍ ۚ وَمَا قَوْمُ لُوطٍ مِنْكُمْ بِبَعِيدٍ
Wa Yā Qawmi Lā Yajrimannakum Shiqāqī ‘An Yuşībakum Mithlu Mā ‘Aşāba Qawma Nūĥin ‘Aw Qawma Hūdin ‘Aw Qawma Şāliĥin Wa Mā Qawmu Lūţin Minkum Biba`īdin
11:89 And O my people! Do not let your opposition to me prevent you so that a similar fate (i.e., punishment) strikes you to what struck the people of Noah or the people of Hud or the people of Salih. And the people of Lot are not far away from you.
11:89 And O my people! Do not let your opposition to me cause you to sin to befalls you similar(to) what befell the people of Noah or the people of Hud or the people of Salih, and the people of Lot are not far off/away from you.
89.shiqāqī Wa yaa qawmi laa yajri mannakum shiqaaqeee ai yuseebakum mislu maaa asaaba qawma Noohin aw qawma Hoodin aw qawma Saalih; wa maa qawmu Lootim minkum biba’eed
90. وَاسْتَغْفِرُوا رَبَّكُمْ ثُمَّ تُوبُوا إِلَيْهِ ۚ إِنَّ رَبِّي رَحِيمٌ وَدُودٌ
Wa Astaghfirū Rabbakum Thumma Tūbū ‘Ilayhi ‘Inna Rabbī Raĥīmun Wadūdun
11:90 And ask your Lord for forgiveness, then/and turn to Him in repentance. Indeed, my Lord is Most Merciful, Most Loving.“
90. Wastaghfiroo Rabbakum summa toobooo ilaih; inna Rabbee Raheemunw Wadood
91. قَالُوا يَا شُعَيْبُ مَا نَفْقَهُ كَثِيرًا مِمَّا تَقُولُ وَإِنَّا لَنَرَاكَ فِينَا ضَعِيفًا ۖ وَلَوْلَا رَهْطُكَ لَرَجَمْنَاكَ ۖ وَمَا أَنْتَ عَلَيْنَا بِعَزِيزٍ
Qālū Yā Shu`aybu Mā Nafqahu Kathīrāan Mimmā Taqūlu Wa ‘Innā Lanarāka Fīnā Đa`īfāan Wa Lawlā Rahţuka Larajamnāka Wa Mā ‘Anta `Alaynā Bi`azīzin
11:91 They said, “O Shuaib! We do not understand much of what you say, and indeed, we surely see you weak among us. And were it not for your family we would have surely stoned you and you are not mighty/ powerful/ with power/ in power against us.”

91. Qaaloo yaa Shu’aibu maa nafqahu kaseeram mimmaa taqoolu wa innaa lanaraaka feenaa da’eefanw wa law laa rahtuka larajamnaaka wa maaa anta ‘alainaa bi’azeez
92. قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ أَرَهْطِي أَعَزُّ عَلَيْكُمْ مِنَ اللَّهِ وَاتَّخَذْتُمُوهُ وَرَاءَكُمْ ظِهْرِيًّا ۖ إِنَّ رَبِّي بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ مُحِيطٌ
Qāla Yā Qawmi ‘Arahţī ‘A`azzu `Alaykum Mina Al-Lahi Wa Attakhadhtumūhu Warā’akum Žihrīyāan ‘Inna Rabbī Bimā Ta`malūna Muĥīţun
11:92 He ˹Shuaib˺ said, “O my people! Is my family mightier on you than Allah? And you have put Him behind your backs (i.e., neglecting Him). Indeed, my Lord is All-Encompassing of what you do.
92. Qaala yaa qawmi arahteee a’azzu ‘alaikum minal laahi wattakhaztumoohu waraaa’akum zihriyyan inna Rabbee bimaa ta’maloona muheet
93. وَيَا قَوْمِ اعْمَلُوا عَلَىٰ مَكَانَتِكُمْ إِنِّي عَامِلٌ ۖ سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ مَنْ يَأْتِيهِ عَذَابٌ يُخْزِيهِ وَمَنْ هُوَ كَاذِبٌ ۖ وَارْتَقِبُوا إِنِّي مَعَكُمْ رَقِيبٌ
Wa Yā Qawmi A`malū `Alá Makānatikum ‘Innī `Āmilun Sawfa Ta`lamūna Man Ya’tīhi `Adhābun Yukhzīhi Wa Man Huwa Kādhibun Wa Artaqibū ‘Innī Ma`akum Raqībun
11:93 And O my people! Work ˹according˺ to your position, indeed, I am ˹too/likewise˺ working. You will soon know on whom will come a punishment that will/to disgrace him, and who/ whoever it is, he is a liar. And watch, indeed, I am a watcher with you.”
93. Wa yaa qawmi’ maloo ‘alaa makaanatikum innee ‘aamilun sawfa ta’lamoona many ya’teehi ‘azaabuny yukhzeehi wa man huwa kaazib; wartaqibooo innnee ma’akum raqeeb
94. وَلَمَّا جَاءَ أَمْرُنَا نَجَّيْنَا شُعَيْبًا وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مَعَهُ بِرَحْمَةٍ مِنَّا وَأَخَذَتِ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا الصَّيْحَةُ فَأَصْبَحُوا فِي دِيَارِهِمْ جَاثِمِينَ
Wa Lammā Jā’a ‘Amrunā Najjaynā Shu`aybāan Wa Al-Ladhīna ‘Āmanū Ma`ahu Biraĥmatin Minnā Wa ‘Akhadhati Al-Ladhīna Žalamū Aş-Şayĥatu Fa’aşbaĥū Fī Diyārihim Jāthimīna
11:94 And when Our Command came, We saved Shuaib and those who believed with him by a Mercy from Us. And the ˹mighty˺ blast overtook those who wronged, so they became ˹motionless bodies˺ lying prone in their homes.
so they fell lifeless in their homes.
94. Wa lammaa jaaa’a amrunaa najjainaa shu’aibanw wal lazeena aamanoo ma’ahoo birahmatim minnaa wa akhazatil lazeena zalamus saihatu fa asbahoo fee diyaarihim jaasimeen
95. كَأَنْ لَمْ يَغْنَوْا فِيهَا ۗ أَلَا بُعْدًا لِمَدْيَنَ كَمَا بَعِدَتْ ثَمُودُ
Ka’an Lam Yaghnaw Fīhā ‘Alā Bu`dāan Limadyana Kamā Ba`idat Thamūdu
11:95 As if they had never lived there. So, away with the people of Midian as the people of Thamud was taken away.
95. Ka-al-lam yaghnaw feehaaa; alaa bu’dal li Madyana Kamaa ba’idat Samood (section 8)
96. وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا مُوسَىٰ بِآيَاتِنَا وَسُلْطَانٍ مُبِينٍ
Wa Laqad ‘Arsalnā Mūsá Bi’āyātinā Wa Sulţānin Mubīnin
11:96 And certainly We sent Musa with Our Signs and a clear authority,
96. Wa laqad arsalnaa Moosaa bi Aayaatinaa wa sultaanim mubeen
97. إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَئِهِ فَاتَّبَعُوا أَمْرَ فِرْعَوْنَ ۖ وَمَا أَمْرُ فِرْعَوْنَ بِرَشِيدٍ
‘Ilá Fir`awna Wa Mala’ihi Fa Attaba`ū ‘Amra Fir`awna Wa Mā ‘Amru Fir`awna Birashīdin
11:97 to pharaoh and his chiefs, but they followed the command of pharaoh, and the command of pharaoh was not right.
97. Ilaa Fir’awna wa mala’ihee fattaba’ooo amra Fir’awna wa maaa amru Fir’awna birasheed
98. يَقْدُمُ قَوْمَهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فَأَوْرَدَهُمُ النَّارَ ۖ وَبِئْسَ الْوِرْدُ الْمَوْرُودُ
Yaqdumu Qawmahu Yawma Al-Qiyāmati Fa’awradahumu An-Nāra Wa Bi’sa Al-Wirdu Al-Mawrūdu
11:98 He will go before his people on the Day of the Resurrection and lead them into the Fire. And evil is the place to which they are led.
98. Yaqdumu qawmahoo Yawmal Qiyaamati fa awrada humun Naara wa bi’sal wirdul mawrood
99. وَأُتْبِعُوا فِي هَٰذِهِ لَعْنَةً وَيَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ۚ بِئْسَ الرِّفْدُ الْمَرْفُودُ
Wa ‘Utbi`ū Fī Hadhihi La`natan Wa Yawma Al-Qiyāmati Bi’sa Ar-Rifdu Al-Marfūdu
11:99 And they were followed by a curse in this ˹life˺ and ˹will receive another˺ on the Day of the Resurrection. Evil is the gift which will be given.
99. Wa utbi’oo fee haazihee la’natanw wa Yawmal Qiyaamah; bi’sar rifdul marfood
100. ذَٰلِكَ مِنْ أَنْبَاءِ الْقُرَىٰ نَقُصُّهُ عَلَيْكَ ۖ مِنْهَا قَائِمٌ وَحَصِيدٌ
Dhālika Min ‘Anbā’i Al-Qurá Naquşşuhu `Alayka Minhā Qā’imun Wa Ĥaşīdun
11:100 That is from the news of the ˹destroyed˺ cities which We relate to you ˹O Prophet˺ of them, some are still standing and some are mowed down.
100. Zaalika min ambaaa’il quraa naqussuhoo ‘alaika minhaa qaaa’imunw wa haseed
101. وَمَا ظَلَمْنَاهُمْ وَلَٰكِنْ ظَلَمُوا أَنْفُسَهُمْ ۖ فَمَا أَغْنَتْ عَنْهُمْ آلِهَتُهُمُ الَّتِي يَدْعُونَ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ مِنْ شَيْءٍ لَمَّا جَاءَ أَمْرُ رَبِّكَ ۖ وَمَا زَادُوهُمْ غَيْرَ تَتْبِيبٍ
Wa Mā Žalamnāhum Wa Lakin Žalamū ‘Anfusahum Famā ‘Aghnat `Anhum ‘Ālihatuhumu Allatī Yad`ūna Min Dūni Al-Lahi Min Shay’in Lammā Jā’a ‘Amru Rabbika Wa Mā Zādūhum Ghayra Tatbībin
11:101 And We did not wrong them but they wronged themselves. So their gods which they called on from other than Allah did not benefit them in any thing when the command of your Lord came. And they did not increased them other than in ruin.
So not availed them their gods which they invoked from other than Allah, any thing, when the command of your Lord came.
101. Wa maa zalamnaahum wa laakin zalamooo anfusahum famaaa aghnat ‘anhum aalihatuhumul latee yad’oona min doonil laahi min shai’il lammaa jaaa’a amru Rabbika wa maa zaadoohum ghaira tatbeeb
102. وَكَذَٰلِكَ أَخْذُ رَبِّكَ إِذَا أَخَذَ الْقُرَىٰ وَهِيَ ظَالِمَةٌ ۚ إِنَّ أَخْذَهُ أَلِيمٌ شَدِيدٌ
Wa Kadhalika ‘Akhdhu Rabbika ‘Idhā ‘Akhadha Al-Qurá Wa Hiya Žālimatun ‘Inna ‘Akhdhahu ‘Alīmun Shadīdun
11:102 And thus is the grip of your Lord when He seizes the cities while they are doing wrong. Indeed, His grip is painful, and severe.
102. Wa kazaalika akhzu Rabbika izaaa akhazal quraa wa hiya zaalimah; inna akhzahooo aleemun shadeed
103. إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَةً لِمَنْ خَافَ عَذَابَ الْآخِرَةِ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ يَوْمٌ مَجْمُوعٌ لَهُ النَّاسُ وَذَٰلِكَ يَوْمٌ مَشْهُودٌ
‘Inna Fī Dhālika La’āyatan Liman Khāfa `Adhāba Al-‘Ākhirati Dhālika Yawmun Majmū`un Lahu An-Nāsu Wa Dhalika Yawmun Mash/hūdun
11:103 Indeed, in that is surely a Sign for those who fear the punishment of the Hereafter. That is a Day on it/ for which the mankind will be gathered and that is a Day witnessed ˹by all˺.
103. Inna fee zaalika la aayatal liman khaafa ‘azaabal Aakhirah; zaalika Yawmum majmoo’ul lahun naasu wa zaalika Yawmum mashhood
104. وَمَا نُؤَخِّرُهُ إِلَّا لِأَجَلٍ مَعْدُودٍ
Wa Mā Nu’uakhkhiruhu ‘Illā Li’jalin Ma`dūdin
11:104 And We do not delay it except for a limited term.
104. Wa maa nu’akhkhiruhooo illaa li ajalim ma’dood
105. يَوْمَ يَأْتِ لَا تَكَلَّمُ نَفْسٌ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِهِ ۚ فَمِنْهُمْ شَقِيٌّ وَسَعِيدٌ
Yawma Ya’ti Lā Takallamu Nafsun ‘Illā Bi’idhnihi Faminhum Shaqīyun Wa Sa`īdun
11:105 When that Day comes/arrives, no soul will speak except with/by His permission. Then among them will be the miserable, and the joyful.
105. Yawma yaati laa takallamu nafsun illaa bi iznih; faminhum shaqiyyunw wa sa’eed
106. فَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ شَقُوا فَفِي النَّارِ لَهُمْ فِيهَا زَفِيرٌ وَشَهِيقٌ
Fa’ammā Al-Ladhīna Shaqū Fafī An-Nāri Lahum Fīhā Zafīrun Wa Shahīqun
11:106 As for those who were miserable, then they will be in the Fire. For them in it is sighing (i.e., exhalation), and wailing/gasping (i.e., inhalation).

106. Fa ammal lazeena shaqoo fafin Naari lahum feehaa zafeerunw wa shaheeq
107. خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا مَا دَامَتِ السَّمَاوَاتُ وَالْأَرْضُ إِلَّا مَا شَاءَ رَبُّكَ ۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ فَعَّالٌ لِمَا يُرِيدُ
Khālidīna Fīhā Mā Dāmati As-Samāwātu Wa Al-‘Arđu ‘Illā Mā Shā’a Rabbuka ‘Inna Rabbaka Fa“ālun Limā Yurīdu
11:107 staying in it forever from as long as the heavens and the earth remain, except from what your Lord wills. Indeed, your Lord is All-Accomplisher/does of what He intends.
107. Khaalideena feehaa maa daamatis samaawaatu wal ardu illaa maa shaaa’a Rabbuk; inna Rabbaka fa’ ‘aalul limaa yureed
108. وَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ سُعِدُوا فَفِي الْجَنَّةِ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا مَا دَامَتِ السَّمَاوَاتُ وَالْأَرْضُ إِلَّا مَا شَاءَ رَبُّكَ ۖ عَطَاءً غَيْرَ مَجْذُوذٍ
Wa ‘Ammā Al-Ladhīna Su`idū Fafī Al-Jannati Khālidīna Fīhā Mā Dāmati As-Samāwātu Wa Al-‘Arđu ‘Illā Mā Shā’a Rabbuka `Aţā’an Ghayra Majdhūdhin
11:108 And as for those who were joyful, then they will be in Paradise, will be staying in it forever from as long as the heavens and the earth remains, except from what your Lord wills – a bestowal/ gift not interrupted.
108. Wa ammal lazeena su’idoo fafil Jannati khaalideena feehaa maa daamatis samaawaatu wal ardu illaa maa shaaa’a Rabbuk; ataaa’an ghaira majzooz
109. فَلَا تَكُ فِي مِرْيَةٍ مِمَّا يَعْبُدُ هَٰؤُلَاءِ ۚ مَا يَعْبُدُونَ إِلَّا كَمَا يَعْبُدُ آبَاؤُهُمْ مِنْ قَبْلُ ۚ وَإِنَّا لَمُوَفُّوهُمْ نَصِيبَهُمْ غَيْرَ مَنْقُوصٍ
Falā Taku Fī Miryatin Mimmā Ya`budu Hā’uulā’ Mā Ya`budūna ‘Illā Kamā Ya`budu ‘Ābā’uuhum Min Qablu Wa ‘Innā Lamuwaffūhum Naşībahum Ghayra Manqūşin
11:109 So do not be in doubt ˹O Prophet˺ about what these ˹pagans/polytheists˺ worship. They worship nothing except as what/ as/ like what their forefathers worshipped from before ˹them˺. And indeed, We will surely pay them their share in full without being diminished/ any reduction/ being reduced/ reduction.
109. Falaa taku fee miryatim mimmmaa ya’budu haaa’ulaaa’; maa ya’budoona illaa kamaa ya’budu aabaaa’uhum min qabl; wa innaa lamuwaf foohum naseebahum ghaira manqoos (section 9)
110. وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَا مُوسَى الْكِتَابَ فَاخْتُلِفَ فِيهِ ۚ وَلَوْلَا كَلِمَةٌ سَبَقَتْ مِنْ رَبِّكَ لَقُضِيَ بَيْنَهُمْ ۚ وَإِنَّهُمْ لَفِي شَكٍّ مِنْهُ مُرِيبٍ
Wa Laqad ‘Ātaynā Mūsá Al-Kitāba Fākhtulifa Fīhi Wa Lawlā Kalimatun Sabaqat Min Rabbika Laquđiya Baynahum Wa ‘Innahum Lafī Shakkin Minhu Murībin
11:110 And verily We gave Moses the Book, but differences arose therein/ regarding it. And had it not been a prior Word (i.e., decree) from your Lord, surely, it would have been judged between them. And indeed, they are surely in suspicious doubt about it.
110. Wa laqad aatainaa Moosal Kitaaba fakhtulifa feeh; wa law laa Kalimatun sabaqat mir Rabbika laqudiya bainahum; wa innahum lafee shakkim minhu mureeb
111. وَإِنَّ كُلًّا لَمَّا لَيُوَفِّيَنَّهُمْ رَبُّكَ أَعْمَالَهُمْ ۚ إِنَّهُ بِمَا يَعْمَلُونَ خَبِيرٌ
Wa ‘Inna Kullā Lammā Layuwaffiyannahum Rabbuka ‘A`mālahum ‘Innahu Bimā Ya`malūna Khabīrun
11:111 And indeed, then/when to each ˹of them˺ your Lord will surely pay them in full for their deeds. Indeed, He is All-Aware of what they do.

Each [of them] will be fully repaid for their deeds when your Lord payes them

11:111 And indeed, [to each] when surely will pay them in full your Lord their deeds. Indeed, He is All-Aware of what they do.
111. Wa inna kullal lammaa la yuwaffiyannahum Rabbuka a’maalahum; innahoo bimaa ya’maloona Khabeer
112. فَاسْتَقِمْ كَمَا أُمِرْتَ وَمَنْ تَابَ مَعَكَ وَلَا تَطْغَوْا ۚ إِنَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرٌ
Fāstaqim Kamā ‘Umirta Wa Man Tāba Ma`aka Wa Lā Taţghaw ‘Innahu Bimā Ta`malūna Başīrun
11:112 So stand firm as you are commanded ˹O Prophet˺ and those who turn ˹in repentance/submission to Allah˺ with you, and do not transgress (i.e., over step limits). Indeed, He is All-Seeing of what you do.
112. Fastaqim kamaaa umirta wa man taaba ma’aka wa laa tatghaw; innahoo bimaa ta’maloona Baseer
113. وَلَا تَرْكَنُوا إِلَى الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا فَتَمَسَّكُمُ النَّارُ وَمَا لَكُمْ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ مِنْ أَوْلِيَاءَ ثُمَّ لَا تُنْصَرُونَ
Wa Lā Tarkanū ‘Ilá Al-Ladhīna Žalamū Fatamassakumu An-Nāru Wa Mā Lakum Min Dūni Al-Lahi Min ‘Awliyā’a Thumma Lā Tunşarūna
11:113 And do not incline to those who do wrong lest/ so that the Fire touches you, and there will not be for you any protectors from besides Allah; then nor will you be helped.
113. Wa laa tarkanooo ilal lazeena zalamoo fatamassa kumun Naaru wa maa lakum min doonil laahi min awliyaaa’a summa laa tunsaroon
114. وَأَقِمِ الصَّلَاةَ طَرَفَيِ النَّهَارِ وَزُلَفًا مِنَ اللَّيْلِ ۚ إِنَّ الْحَسَنَاتِ يُذْهِبْنَ السَّيِّئَاتِ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ ذِكْرَىٰ لِلذَّاكِرِينَ
Wa ‘Aqimi Aş-Şalāata Ţarafayi An-Nahāri Wa Zulafāan Mina Al-Layli ‘Inna Al-Ĥasanāti Yudh/hibna As-Sayyi’āti Dhālika Dhikrá Lildhdhākirīna
11:114 And establish the prayer ˹O Prophet˺ at the two ends of the day and at the approach/early part of the night. Indeed, the good deeds remove/wipe out the evil deeds. That is a reminder for those who remember/ for the mindful.
114. Wa aqimis Salaata tarafayin nahaari wa zulafam minal layl; innal hasanaati yuzhibnas saiyi aat; zaalika zikraa liz zaakireen
115. وَاصْبِرْ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يُضِيعُ أَجْرَ الْمُحْسِنِينَ
Wa Aşbir Fa’inna Al-Laha Lā Yuđī`u ‘Ajra Al-Muĥsinīna
11:115 And be patient, for indeed, Allah does not waste the reward of the good-doers.
115. Wasbir fa innal laaha laa yudee’u ajral muhsineen
116. فَلَوْلَا كَانَ مِنَ الْقُرُونِ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ أُولُو بَقِيَّةٍ يَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ الْفَسَادِ فِي الْأَرْضِ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا مِمَّنْ أَنْجَيْنَا مِنْهُمْ ۗ وَاتَّبَعَ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا مَا أُتْرِفُوا فِيهِ وَكَانُوا مُجْرِمِينَ
Falawlā Kāna Mina Al-Qurūni Min Qablikum ‘Ūlū Baqīyatin Yanhawna `Ani Al-Fasādi Fī Al-‘Arđi ‘Illā Qalīlāan Mimman ‘Anjaynā Minhum Wa Attaba`a Al-Ladhīna Žalamū Mā ‘Utrifū Fīhi Wa Kānū Mujrimīna
11:116 So why were there not among the ˹destroyed˺ generations from before you those with a remnant ˹of good sense˺, forbidding from the corruption in the earth except a few of those We had saved among them ˹from the torment˺? But those who did wrong ˹only˺ followed what luxury they were given therein, and they were criminals.
116. Falaw laa kaana minal qurooni min qablikum ooloo baqiyyatiny yanhawna ‘anil fasaadi fil ardi illaa qaleelam mimman anjainaa minhum; wattaba’al lazeena zalamoo maaa utrifoo feehi wa kaanoo mujrimeen
117. وَمَا كَانَ رَبُّكَ لِيُهْلِكَ الْقُرَىٰ بِظُلْمٍ وَأَهْلُهَا مُصْلِحُونَ
Wa Mā Kāna Rabbuka Liyuhlika Al-Qurá Bižulmin Wa ‘Ahluhā Muşliĥūna
11:117 And your Lord would not destroy the cities unjustly while its people were doing good (i.e., reformers).
117. Wa maa kaana Rabbuka liyuhlikal quraa bizulminw wa ahluhaa muslihoon
118. وَلَوْ شَاءَ رَبُّكَ لَجَعَلَ النَّاسَ أُمَّةً وَاحِدَةً ۖ وَلَا يَزَالُونَ مُخْتَلِفِينَ
Wa Law Shā’a Rabbuka Laja`ala An-Nāsa ‘Ummatan Wāĥidatan Wa Lā Yazālūna Mukhtalifīna
11:118 And if your Lord had willed surely He would have made the mankind one community, but they will not cease/stop to differ/ to disagree/ disagreeing.
118. Wa law shaaa’a Rabbuka laja’alannnaasa ummatanw waa hidatanw wa laa yazaaloona mukhtalifeen
119. إِلَّا مَنْ رَحِمَ رَبُّكَ ۚ وَلِذَٰلِكَ خَلَقَهُمْ ۗ وَتَمَّتْ كَلِمَةُ رَبِّكَ لَأَمْلَأَنَّ جَهَنَّمَ مِنَ الْجِنَّةِ وَالنَّاسِ أَجْمَعِينَ
‘Illā Man Raĥima Rabbuka Wa Lidhalika Khalaqahum Wa Tammat Kalimatu Rabbika La’amla’anna Jahannama Mina Al-Jinnati Wa An-Nāsi ‘Ajma`īna
11:119 except on whom your Lord has given/shown Mercy, and for that He created them. And the Word of your Lord will be fulfilled, “Surely I will fill Hell with the Jinn and the men all together.“
119. Illaa mar rahima Rabbuk; wa lizaalika khalaqahum; wa tammat Kalimatu Rabbika la amla’ana Jahannama minal jinnati wannnaasi ajma’een
120. وَكُلًّا نَقُصُّ عَلَيْكَ مِنْ أَنْبَاءِ الرُّسُلِ مَا نُثَبِّتُ بِهِ فُؤَادَكَ ۚ وَجَاءَكَ فِي هَٰذِهِ الْحَقُّ وَمَوْعِظَةٌ وَذِكْرَىٰ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
Wa Kullāan Naquşşu `Alayka Min ‘Anbā’i Ar-Rusuli Mā Nuthabbitu Bihi Fu’uādaka Wa Jā’aka Fī Hadhihi Al-Ĥaqqu Wa Maw`ižatun Wa Dhikrá Lilmu’uminīna
11:120 And each ˹story˺, We relate to you ˹O Prophet˺ from the news of the Messengers for that We make your heart firm with it. And there has come to you in this the truth and a warning/ instruction and a reminder for the believers.
120. Wa kullan naqussu ‘alaika min ambaaa’ir Rusuli maa nusabbitu bihee fu’aadak; wa jaaa’aka fee haazihil haqqu wa maw’izatunw wa zikraa lilmu’ mineen
121. وَقُلْ لِلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ اعْمَلُوا عَلَىٰ مَكَانَتِكُمْ إِنَّا عَامِلُونَ
Wa Qul Lilladhīna Lā Yu’uminūna A`malū `Alá Makānatikum ‘Innā `Āmilūna
11:121 And say to those who do not believe, “Work ˹according˺ to your position; indeed, we ˹are also/too are˺ working.
121. Wa qul lillazeena laa yu’minoo na’maloo ‘alaa makaanatikum innaa ‘aamiloon
122. وَانْتَظِرُوا إِنَّا مُنْتَظِرُونَ
Wa Antažirū ‘Innā Muntažirūna
11:122 And wait! indeed, we ˹are also/too are˺ waiting.”
122. Wantaziroo innaa mun taziroon
123. وَلِلَّهِ غَيْبُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَإِلَيْهِ يُرْجَعُ الْأَمْرُ كُلُّهُ فَاعْبُدْهُ وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَيْهِ ۚ وَمَا رَبُّكَ بِغَافِلٍ عَمَّا تَعْمَلُونَ
Wa Lillahi Ghaybu As-Samāwāti Wa Al-‘Arđi Wa ‘Ilayhi Yurja`u Al-‘Amru Kulluhu Fā`bud/hu Wa Tawakkal `Alayhi Wa Mā Rabbuka Bighāfilin `Ammā Ta`malūna
11:123 And for Allah belongs the unseen of the heavens and the earth, and to Him the matter, all of it will be returned, so worship Him, and put your trust upon Him. And your Lord is not unaware of what you do.
123. Wa lillaahi ghaibus samaawaati wal ardi wa ilaihi yurja’ul amru kulluhoo fa’bud hu wa tawakkal ‘alaih; wa maa Rabbuka bighaafilin ‘ammaa ta’maloon (section 10)
