1. الر ۚ تِلْكَ آيَاتُ الْكِتَابِ وَقُرْآنٍ مُبِينٍ
‘Alif-Lām-Rā Tilka ‘Āyātu Al-Kitābi Wa Qur’ānin Mubīnin
15:1 Alif Laam Ra. These are the Verses of the Book and the clear Quran.
1. Alif-Laaam-Raa; tilka Aayaatul Kitaabi wa Qur-aa-nim Mubeen
2. رُبَمَا يَوَدُّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لَوْ كَانُوا مُسْلِمِينَ
Rubamā Yawaddu Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Law Kānū Muslimīna
15:2 ˹The day will come when˺ perhaps those who disbelieved will wish, if they had submitted ˹to Allah˺/they had been (i.e., Muslims.
2. Rubamaa yawaddul lazeena kafaroo law kaanoo muslimeen
3. ذَرْهُمْ يَأْكُلُوا وَيَتَمَتَّعُوا وَيُلْهِهِمُ الْأَمَلُ ۖ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ
Dharhum Ya’kulū Wa Yatamatta`ū Wa Yulhihimu Al-‘Amalu Fasawfa Ya`lamūna
15:3 ˹So˺ let them eat and enjoy themselves and be diverted by the ˹false˺ hope, then soon they will come to know.
3. Zarhum yaakuloo wa yatamatta’oo wa yulhihimul amalu fasawfa ya’lamoon
4. وَمَا أَهْلَكْنَا مِنْ قَرْيَةٍ إِلَّا وَلَهَا كِتَابٌ مَعْلُومٌ
Wa Mā ‘Ahlaknā Min Qaryatin ‘Illā Wa Lahā Kitābun Ma`lūmun
15:4 And We have never destroyed any town except there was for it a known decree (i.e., set term).
4. Wa maaa ahlaknaa min qaryatin illaa wa lahaa kitaabum ma’loom
5. مَا تَسْبِقُ مِنْ أُمَّةٍ أَجَلَهَا وَمَا يَسْتَأْخِرُونَ
Mā Tasbiqu Min ‘Ummatin ‘Ajalahā Wa Mā Yasta’khirūna
15:5 Nor can any nation advance its term and nor can they delay it.
5. Maa tasbiqu min ummatin ajalahaa wa maa yastaakhiroon
6. وَقَالُوا يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِي نُزِّلَ عَلَيْهِ الذِّكْرُ إِنَّكَ لَمَجْنُونٌ
Wa Qālū Yā ‘Ayyuhā Al-Ladhī Nuzzila `Alayhi Adh-Dhikru ‘Innaka Lamajnūnun
15:6 And they say, “O you to whom the Reminder has been sent down on him! Indeed, you are surely mad!
15:6 And they say, “O you upon whom the Reminder has been sent down! Indeed, you are surely mad/ insane!
6. Wa qaaloo yaaa aiyuhal lazee nuzzila ‘alaihiz Zikru innaka lamajnoon
7. لَوْ مَا تَأْتِينَا بِالْمَلَائِكَةِ إِنْ كُنْتَ مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ
Law Mā Ta’tīnā Bil-Malā’ikati ‘In Kunta Mina Aş-Şādiqīna
15:7 Why do you not bring us the Angels, if you are of the truthful?”
7. Law maa taateenaa bil malaaa’ikati in kunta minas saadiqeen
8. مَا نُنَزِّلُ الْمَلَائِكَةَ إِلَّا بِالْحَقِّ وَمَا كَانُوا إِذًا مُنْظَرِينَ
Mā Nunazzilu Al-Malā’ikata ‘Illā Bil-Ĥaqqi Wa Mā Kānū ‘Idhāan Munžarīna
15:8 We do not send down the Angels except with the truth (i.e., to bring justice); and then they (i.e., disbelievers) will not be delayed/ given delay/ given respite.
8. Maa nunazzilul malaaa’i kata illaa bilhaqqi wa maa kaanooo izam munzareen
9. إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا الذِّكْرَ وَإِنَّا لَهُ لَحَافِظُونَ
‘Innā Naĥnu Nazzalnā Adh-Dhikra Wa ‘Innā Lahu Laĥāfižūna
15:9 Indeed, We have sent down the Reminder, and indeed, We will surely be Guardians of it.
9. Innaa Nahnu nazalnaz Zikra wa Innaa lahoo lahaa fizoon
10. وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا مِنْ قَبْلِكَ فِي شِيَعِ الْأَوَّلِينَ
Wa Laqad ‘Arsalnā Min Qablika Fī Shiya`i Al-‘Awwalīna
15:10 And certainly We sent ˹messengers˺ from before you ˹O Prophet˺ among the sects/groups of the former/early/ earlier ˹peoples˺.
10. Wa laqad arsalnaa min qablika fee shiya’il awwaleen
11. وَمَا يَأْتِيهِمْ مِنْ رَسُولٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِئُونَ
Wa Mā Ya’tīhim Min Rasūlin ‘Illā Kānū Bihi Yastahzi’ūna
15:11 And never came to them any Messenger except they did mock at him.
15:11 And never came any Messenger to them except they did mock at him.
15:11 And not came to them any Messenger except they did mock at him.
11. Wa maa yaateehim mir Rasoolin illaa kaanoo bihee yastahzi’oon
12. كَذَٰلِكَ نَسْلُكُهُ فِي قُلُوبِ الْمُجْرِمِينَ
Kadhālika Naslukuhu Fī Qulūbi Al-Mujrimīna
15:12 Thus/ This is how We let it enter into the hearts of the criminals.
12. kazaalika naslukuhoo fee quloobil mujrimeen
13. لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِ ۖ وَقَدْ خَلَتْ سُنَّةُ الْأَوَّلِينَ
Lā Yu’uminūna Bihi Wa Qad Khalat Sunnatu Al-‘Awwalīna
15:13 They will not believe in it, and verily the ˹many˺ way/ examples of the former/earlier ˹people destroyed˺ have passed away.
13. Laa yu’minoona bihee wa qad khalat sunnatul awwaleen
14. وَلَوْ فَتَحْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ بَابًا مِنَ السَّمَاءِ فَظَلُّوا فِيهِ يَعْرُجُونَ
Wa Law Fataĥnā `Alayhim Bābāan Mina As-Samā’i Fažallū Fīhi Ya`rujūna
15:14 And ˹even˺ if We opened for them a gate from the heaven, and they continued to ascend into it,
14. Wa law fatahnaa ‘alaihim baabam minas samaaa’i fazaloo feehi ya’rujoon
15. لَقَالُوا إِنَّمَا سُكِّرَتْ أَبْصَارُنَا بَلْ نَحْنُ قَوْمٌ مَسْحُورُونَ
Laqālū ‘Innamā Sukkirat ‘Abşārunā Bal Naĥnu Qawmun Masĥūrūna
15:15 They would surely say “Our eyes have only been dazzled. Rather, we ˹must have been˺ a people affected by magic.”
15. Laqaaloo innamaa sukkirat absaarunaa bal nahnu qawmum mashooroon (section 1)
16. وَلَقَدْ جَعَلْنَا فِي السَّمَاءِ بُرُوجًا وَزَيَّنَّاهَا لِلنَّاظِرِينَ
Wa Laqad Ja`alnā Fī As-Samā’i Burūjāan Wa Zayyannāhā Lilnnāžirīna
15:16 And verily We have placed constellations (i.e., group of great stars) in the sky and We have beautified it for the observers/ for all to see.
16. Wa laqad ja’alnaa fissamaaa’i buroojanw wa zaiyannaahaa linnaazireen
17. وَحَفِظْنَاهَا مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْطَانٍ رَجِيمٍ
Wa Ĥafižnāhā Min Kulli Shayţānin Rajīmin
15:17 And We have protected it from every accursed devil.
17. Wa hafiznaahaa min kulli Shaitaanir rajeem
18. إِلَّا مَنِ اسْتَرَقَ السَّمْعَ فَأَتْبَعَهُ شِهَابٌ مُبِينٌ
‘Illā Mani Astaraqa As-Sam`a Fa’atba`ahu Shihābun Mubīnun
15:18 Except the one who steals the hearing (i.e., secretly listen), then a clear burning flame follows him.
15:18 Except the one who gains the hearing by stealing, then a clear burning flame follows him.
18. Illaa manis taraqas sam’a fa atba’ahoo shihaabum mubeen
19. وَالْأَرْضَ مَدَدْنَاهَا وَأَلْقَيْنَا فِيهَا رَوَاسِيَ وَأَنْبَتْنَا فِيهَا مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ مَوْزُونٍ
Wa Al-‘Arđa Madadnāhā Wa ‘Alqaynā Fīhā Rawāsiya Wa ‘Anbatnā Fīhā Min Kulli Shay’in Mawzūnin
15:19 And the earth, We have spread it out and We placed on it firm mountains and We caused to grow in it of every thing well-balanced.
19. Wal arda madadnaahaa wa alqainaa feehaa rawaasiya wa ambatnaa feehaa min kulli shai’im mawzoon
20. وَجَعَلْنَا لَكُمْ فِيهَا مَعَايِشَ وَمَنْ لَسْتُمْ لَهُ بِرَازِقِينَ
Wa Ja`alnā Lakum Fīhā Ma`āyisha Wa Man Lastum Lahu Birāziqīna
15:20 And We have made means of living in it for you and for him (i.e., others) whom you are not providers.
15:20 And We have made means of living in it for you and whom you are not for him providers.
20. Wa ja’alnaa lakum feehaa ma’aayisha wa mal lastum lahoo biraaziqeen
21. وَإِنْ مِنْ شَيْءٍ إِلَّا عِنْدَنَا خَزَائِنُهُ وَمَا نُنَزِّلُهُ إِلَّا بِقَدَرٍ مَعْلُومٍ
Wa ‘In Min Shay’in ‘Illā `Indanā Khazā’inuhu Wa Mā Nunazziluhu ‘Illā Biqadarin Ma`lūmin
15:21 And there is not any thing but with Us are its treasures, and We do not send it down except in a known measure.
21. Wa im min shai’in illaa ‘indanaa khazaaa ‘inuhoo wa maa nunazziluhooo illaa biqadarim ma’loom
22. وَأَرْسَلْنَا الرِّيَاحَ لَوَاقِحَ فَأَنْزَلْنَا مِنَ السَّمَاءِ مَاءً فَأَسْقَيْنَاكُمُوهُ وَمَا أَنْتُمْ لَهُ بِخَازِنِينَ
Wa ‘Arsalnā Ar-Riyāĥa Lawāqiĥa Fa’anzalnā Mina As-Samā’i Mā’an Fa’asqaynākumūhu Wa Mā ‘Antum Lahu Bikhāzinīna
15:22 And We have sent the fertilizing winds, and We sent down water from the sky, and We gave it to you to drink. And you are not its retainers/storers.
22. Wa arsalnar riyaaha la waaqiha fa anzalnaa minas samaaa’i maaa’an fa asqai naakumoohu wa maaa antum lahoo bikhaazineen
23. وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ نُحْيِي وَنُمِيتُ وَنَحْنُ الْوَارِثُونَ
Wa ‘Innā Lanaĥnu Nuĥyī Wa Numītu Wa Naĥnu Al-Wārithūna
15:23 And indeed, We, surely We, We give life and We cause death, and We are the Inheritors.
23. Wa innnaa la nahnu nuhyee wa numeetu wa nahnul waarisoon
24. وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْنَا الْمُسْتَقْدِمِينَ مِنْكُمْ وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْنَا الْمُسْتَأْخِرِينَ
Wa Laqad `Alimnā Al-Mustaqdimīna Minkum Wa Laqad `Alimnā Al-Musta’khirīna
15:24 And verily We know those who have gone before among you and verily, We know those who will come after ˹you˺.
15:24 And verily We know those who were before among you and verily, We know those who will come after ˹you˺.
15:24 And verily We know the preceding ones/ those of you who come first among you and verily, We know the later ones/ those who come later.
24. Wa la qad ‘alimnal mustaqdimeena minkum wa laqad ‘alimnal mustaakhireen
25. وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ يَحْشُرُهُمْ ۚ إِنَّهُ حَكِيمٌ عَلِيمٌ
Wa ‘Inna Rabbaka Huwa Yaĥshuruhum ‘Innahu Ĥakīmun `Alīmun
15:25 And indeed, your Lord, He will gather them ˹for judgment˺. Indeed, He is All-Wise, All-Knowing.
25. Wa inna Rabbaka Huwa yahshuruhum; innahoo Hakeemun ‘Aleem (section 2)
26. وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الْإِنْسَانَ مِنْ صَلْصَالٍ مِنْ حَمَإٍ مَسْنُونٍ
Wa Laqad Khalaqnā Al-‘Insāna Min Şalşālin Min Ĥama’iin Masnūnin
15:26 And verily, We created humankind of sounding clay altered/ moulded from dark/black mud.
15:26 And verily, We created humankind of sounding clay from dark/black mud altered/ moulded.
15:26 And verily, We created humankind of sounding clay from altered/ moulded dark/black mud.
26. Wa laqad khalaqnal insaana min salsaalim min hama im masnoon
27. وَالْجَانَّ خَلَقْنَاهُ مِنْ قَبْلُ مِنْ نَارِ السَّمُومِ
Wa Al-Jānna Khalaqnāhu Min Qablu Min Nāri As-Samūmi
15:27 And the jinn We created it from before from scorching fire.
27. Waljaaanna khalaqnaahu min qablu min naaris samoom
28. وَإِذْ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلْمَلَائِكَةِ إِنِّي خَالِقٌ بَشَرًا مِنْ صَلْصَالٍ مِنْ حَمَإٍ مَسْنُونٍ
Wa ‘Idh Qāla Rabbuka Lilmalā’ikati ‘Innī Khāliqun Basharāan Min Şalşālin Min Ĥama’iin Masnūnin
15:28 And when your Lord said to the Angels, “Indeed, I will create a human being of clay altered/moulded from dark/black mud.

28. Wa iz qaala Rabbuka lilmalaaa’ ikati innee khaaliqum basharam min salsaalim min hama im masnoon
29. فَإِذَا سَوَّيْتُهُ وَنَفَخْتُ فِيهِ مِنْ رُوحِي فَقَعُوا لَهُ سَاجِدِينَ
Fa’idhā Sawwaytuhu Wa Nafakhtu Fīhi Min Rūĥī Faqa`ū Lahu Sājidīna
15:29 So, when I have fashioned him and I breathed of My ˹created˺ spirit into him, then fall down in prostration to him.”

29. Fa izaa sawwaituhoo wa nafakhtu feehi mir roohee faqa’oo lahoo saajideen
30. فَسَجَدَ الْمَلَائِكَةُ كُلُّهُمْ أَجْمَعُونَ
Fasajada Al-Malā’ikatu Kulluhum ‘Ajma`ūna
15:30 So the Angels prostrated – all of them (i.e., angels) together,
30. Fasajadal malaaa’ikatu kulluhum ajma’oon
31. إِلَّا إِبْلِيسَ أَبَىٰ أَنْ يَكُونَ مَعَ السَّاجِدِينَ
‘Illā ‘Iblīsa ‘Abá ‘An Yakūna Ma`a As-Sājidīna
15:31 Except Iblis. He refused to be with those who prostrated.
31. Illaaa ibleesa abaaa ai yakoona ma’as saajideen
32. قَالَ يَا إِبْلِيسُ مَا لَكَ أَلَّا تَكُونَ مَعَ السَّاجِدِينَ
Qāla Yā ‘Iblīsu Mā Laka ‘Allā Takūna Ma`a As-Sājidīna
15:32 He ˹Allah˺ said, “O Iblis! What is ˹the matter˺ for/with you that you are not with those who prostrated?“
32. Qaala yaaa Ibleesu maa laka allaa takoona ma’as saajideen
33. قَالَ لَمْ أَكُنْ لِأَسْجُدَ لِبَشَرٍ خَلَقْتَهُ مِنْ صَلْصَالٍ مِنْ حَمَإٍ مَسْنُونٍ
Qāla Lam ‘Akun Li’sjuda Libasharin Khalaqtahu Min Şalşālin Min Ĥama’iin Masnūnin
15:33 he ˹Iblis˺ said, “I will not prostrate to a human whom You created of clay altered/ moulded from black mud.”
15:33 he ˹Iblis˺ said, “I am not the one to prostrate to a human whom You created of clay altered/ moulded from black mud.”

33. Qaala lam akul li asjuda libasharin khalaqtahoo min salsaalim min hama im masnoon
34. قَالَ فَاخْرُجْ مِنْهَا فَإِنَّكَ رَجِيمٌ
Qāla Fākhruj Minhā Fa’innaka Rajīmun
15:34 He ˹Allah˺ said, “Then get out of it (i.e., paradise), for indeed, you are cursed.
34. Qaala fakhruj minhaa fa innaka rajeem
35. وَإِنَّ عَلَيْكَ اللَّعْنَةَ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ
Wa ‘Inna `Alayka Al-La`nata ‘Ilá Yawmi Ad-Dīni
15:35 And indeed, upon you is the curse until the Day of Judgment.”
35. Wa inna ‘alaikal la’nata ilaa Yawmid Deen
36. قَالَ رَبِّ فَأَنْظِرْنِي إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ
Qāla Rabbi Fa’anžirnī ‘Ilá Yawmi Yub`athūna
15:36 he ˹Iblis˺ said, “O my Lord! Then give me respite/ delay my end/time until the Day they are resurrected/raised from dead (i.e., raised from dead).”
36. Qaala Rabbi fa anzirneee ilaa Yawmi yub’asoon
37. قَالَ فَإِنَّكَ مِنَ الْمُنْظَرِينَ
Qāla Fa’innaka Mina Al-Munžarīna
15:37 He ˹Allah˺ said, “Then indeed you, are of the ones given respite/ the ones given time/ the ones given delay in time/ those who are given time.
37. Qaala fa innaka minal munzareen
38. إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ الْوَقْتِ الْمَعْلُومِ
‘Ilá Yawmi Al-Waqti Al-Ma`lūmi
15:38 Until the Day of the known time.”
38. Ilaa Yawmil waqtil ma’loom
39. قَالَ رَبِّ بِمَا أَغْوَيْتَنِي لَأُزَيِّنَنَّ لَهُمْ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلَأُغْوِيَنَّهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
Qāla Rabbi Bimā ‘Aghwaytanī La’uzayyinanna Lahum Fī Al-‘Arđi Wa La’ughwiyannahum ‘Ajma`īna
15:39 he ˹Iblis˺ said, “My Lord! Because You left me to stray/ You let me go stray, I will surely make ˹the path of error˺ attractive for them in the earth and I will mislead them all
15:39 he ˹Iblis˺ said, “My Lord! Because You misled me, surely, I will make (evil) fair-seeming to them in the earth and I will mislead them all
39. Qaala Rabbi bimaaa aghwaitanee la uzayyin anna lahum fil ardi wa la ughwiyan nahum ajma’een
40. إِلَّا عِبَادَكَ مِنْهُمُ الْمُخْلَصِينَ
‘Illā `Ibādaka Minhumu Al-Mukhlaşīna
15:40 Except, Your chosen servants among them.”
40. Illaa ‘ibaadaka minhumul mukhlaseen
41. قَالَ هَٰذَا صِرَاطٌ عَلَيَّ مُسْتَقِيمٌ
Qāla Hādhā Şirāţun `Alayya Mustaqīmun
15:41 He ˹Allah˺ said, “This is the straight way/path to Me.
15:41 He ˹Allah˺ said, “This is the way/path to Me that is straight .
15:41 He ˹Allah˺ said, “This is the way/path leading straight to Me.
15:41 He ˹Allah˺ said, “This is the way on Me straight.
15:41 He ˹Allah˺ said, “This is the way to Me straight.
41. Qaala haaza Siraatun ‘alaiya Mustaqeem
42. إِنَّ عِبَادِي لَيْسَ لَكَ عَلَيْهِمْ سُلْطَانٌ إِلَّا مَنِ اتَّبَعَكَ مِنَ الْغَاوِينَ
‘Inna `Ibādī Laysa Laka `Alayhim Sulţānun ‘Illā Mani Attaba`aka Mina Al-Ghāwīna
15:42 Indeed, My servants – you will not have any authority over them, except those who follow you, from the ones who go astray.”

42. Inna ‘ibaadee laisa laka ‘alaihim sultaanun illaa manittaba’aka minal ghaaween
43. وَإِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ لَمَوْعِدُهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
Wa ‘Inna Jahannama Lamaw`iduhum ‘Ajma`īna
15:43 And indeed, Hell is surely the promised place for them all together.
43. Wa inna jahannama lamaw’iduhum ajma’een
44. لَهَا سَبْعَةُ أَبْوَابٍ لِكُلِّ بَابٍ مِنْهُمْ جُزْءٌ مَقْسُومٌ
Lahā Sab`atu ‘Abwābin Likulli Bābin Minhum Juz’un Maqsūmun
15:44 For it/ it has seven gates, for every gate a portion of them is assigned/designated.
15:44 For it (are) seven gates, for each gate among them (is) a portion assigned.
44. Lahaa sab’atu abwaab; likulli baabim minhum juz’um maqsoom (section 3)
45. إِنَّ الْمُتَّقِينَ فِي جَنَّاتٍ وَعُيُونٍ
‘Inna Al-Muttaqīna Fī Jannātin Wa `Uyūnin
15:45 Indeed, the righteous will be in Gardens and springs.
45. Innal muttaqeena fee Jannaatinw wa ‘uyoon
46. ادْخُلُوهَا بِسَلَامٍ آمِنِينَ
Adkhulūhā Bisalāmin ‘Āminīna
15:46 ˹It will be said to them,˺ “Enter it in peace, safe.”
46. Udkhuloohaa bisalaamin aamineen
47. وَنَزَعْنَا مَا فِي صُدُورِهِمْ مِنْ غِلٍّ إِخْوَانًا عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مُتَقَابِلِينَ
Wa Naza`nā Mā Fī Şudūrihim Min Ghillin ‘Ikhwānāan `Alá Sururin Mutaqābilīna
15:47 And We will remove whatever of bitterness is in their chest, ˹so they will be˺ brothers, on thrones facing each other.
15:47 And We will remove what (is) in their breasts of rancor (they will be) brothers on thrones facing each other.
47. Wa naza’naa ma fee sudoorihim min ghillin ikhwaanan ‘alaa sururim mutaqaabileen
48. لَا يَمَسُّهُمْ فِيهَا نَصَبٌ وَمَا هُمْ مِنْهَا بِمُخْرَجِينَ
Lā Yamassuhum Fīhā Naşabun Wa Mā Hum Minhā Bimukhrajīna
15:48 No fatigue will touch them there/therein, and nor they will be removed/ asked to leave from it.

48. Laa yamas suhum feehaa nasabunw wa maa hum minhaa bimukhrajeen
49. نَبِّئْ عِبَادِي أَنِّي أَنَا الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ
Nabbi‘ `Ibādī ‘Annī ‘Anā Al-Ghafūru Ar-Raĥīmu
15:49 Inform My servants ˹O Prophet˺ that I am the All-Forgiving, the Most Merciful.
49. Nabbi’ ‘ibaadeee annneee anal Ghafoorur Raheem
50. وَأَنَّ عَذَابِي هُوَ الْعَذَابُ الْأَلِيمُ
Wa ‘Anna `Adhābī Huwa Al-`Adhābu Al-‘Alīmu
15:50 and that My punishment, it is the most painful punishment.
50. Wa anna ‘azaabee huwal ‘azaabul aleem
51. وَنَبِّئْهُمْ عَنْ ضَيْفِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ
Wa Nabbi’hum `An Đayfi ‘Ibrāhīma
15:51 And inform them ˹O Prophet˺ about the guests of Abraham,
51. Wa nabbi’hum ‘an daifi Ibraaheem
52. إِذْ دَخَلُوا عَلَيْهِ فَقَالُوا سَلَامًا قَالَ إِنَّا مِنْكُمْ وَجِلُونَ
‘Idh Dakhalū `Alayhi Faqālū Salāmāan Qāla ‘Innā Minkum Wajilūna
15:52 When they entered upon him and said, “Peace.” He ˹later˺ said, “Indeed, we are afraid of you.”
52. Iz dakhaloo ‘alaihi faqaaloo salaaman qaala innaa minkum wajiloon
53. قَالُوا لَا تَوْجَلْ إِنَّا نُبَشِّرُكَ بِغُلَامٍ عَلِيمٍ
Qālū Lā Tawjal ‘Innā Nubashshiruka Bighulāmin `Alīmin
15:53 They said ˹to him˺, “Do not be afraid, indeed, we bring good news to you of a knowledgeable boy/son.”
53. Qaaloo la tawjal innaa nubashshiruka bighulaamin ‘aleem
54. قَالَ أَبَشَّرْتُمُونِي عَلَىٰ أَنْ مَسَّنِيَ الْكِبَرُ فَبِمَ تُبَشِّرُونَ
Qāla ‘Abashshartumūnī `Alá ‘An Massaniya Al-Kibaru Fabima Tubashshirūna
15:54 He ˹Abraham˺ said, “Do you give me good news although/ even though that old age has overtaken/ reached/ touched me ? Then about/of what do you give me good news?”
15:54 He ˹Abraham˺ said, “Do you give good news to me although/ even though/when old age has overtaken/ reached/ touched me ? Then about what do you give me good news?”
54. Qaala abashshartumoonee ‘alaaa am massaniyal kibaru fabima tubashshiroon
55. قَالُوا بَشَّرْنَاكَ بِالْحَقِّ فَلَا تَكُنْ مِنَ الْقَانِطِينَ
Qālū Bashsharnāka Bil-Ĥaqqi Falā Takun Mina Al-Qāniţīna
15:55 They said, “We give you good news in truth, so do not be of the despairing/ those who lose hope.”
55. Qaaloo bashsharnaaka bilhaqqi falaa takum minal qaaniteen
56. قَالَ وَمَنْ يَقْنَطُ مِنْ رَحْمَةِ رَبِّهِ إِلَّا الضَّالُّونَ
Qāla Wa Man Yaqnaţu Min Raĥmati Rabbihi ‘Illā Ađ-Đāllūna
15:56 He ˹Abraham˺ said, “And who loses hope of the Mercy of his Lord except the misguided.”
15:56 He ˹Abraham˺ said, “And who would despairs/lose hopes/ loses hope of the Mercy of his Lord except those who are astray.”
56. Qaala wa mai yaqnatu mir rahmati Rabbiheee illad daaaloon
57. قَالَ فَمَا خَطْبُكُمْ أَيُّهَا الْمُرْسَلُونَ
Qāla Famā Khaţbukum ‘Ayyuhā Al-Mursalūna
15:57 He ˹Abraham˺ said, (i.e., to the guest) “Then what is your mission, O messengers?”
57. Qaala famaa khatbukum aiyuhal mursaloon
58. قَالُوا إِنَّا أُرْسِلْنَا إِلَىٰ قَوْمٍ مُجْرِمِينَ
Qālū ‘Innā ‘Ursilnā ‘Ilá Qawmin Mujrimīna
15:58 They said, “Indeed, we have been sent to a people who are criminals,
15:58 They said, “Indeed, we have ˹actually˺ been sent to ˹punish˺ a criminal people,
58. Qaaloo innaaa ursilnaaa ilaa qawmim mujrimeen
59. إِلَّا آلَ لُوطٍ إِنَّا لَمُنَجُّوهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
‘Illā ‘Āla Lūţin ‘Innā Lamunajjūhum ‘Ajma`īna
15:59 Except the family of Lot; indeed, we surely will save them all
59. Illaaa Aala Loot; innaa lamunajjoohum ajma’een
60. إِلَّا امْرَأَتَهُ قَدَّرْنَا ۙ إِنَّهَا لَمِنَ الْغَابِرِينَ
‘Illā Amra’atahu Qaddarnā ‘Innahā Lamina Al-Ghābirīna
15:60 Except his wife.” We have determined that she will surely be of those who remain behind.

60. Illam ra atahoo qaddarnaaa innahaa laminal ghaabireen (section 4)
61. فَلَمَّا جَاءَ آلَ لُوطٍ الْمُرْسَلُونَ
Falammā Jā’a ‘Āla Lūţin Al-Mursalūna
15:61 And when the messengers came to the family of Lot,
61. Falamma jaaa’a Aala Lootinil mursaloon
62. قَالَ إِنَّكُمْ قَوْمٌ مُنْكَرُونَ
Qāla ‘Innakum Qawmun Munkarūna
15:62 He ˹Lot˺ said, “Indeed, you are an unknown/unfamiliar people!”
62. Qaala innakum qawmum munkaroon
63. قَالُوا بَلْ جِئْنَاكَ بِمَا كَانُوا فِيهِ يَمْتَرُونَ
Qālū Bal Ji’nāka Bimā Kānū Fīhi Yamtarūna
15:63 They said, “But, we have come to you with that ˹punishment˺ (i.e., punishment) about which they were disputing,
15:63 They said, “Nay, we have come to you with what/that ˹punishment˺ they were in it disputing,
63. Qaaloo bal ji’naaka bimaa kaanoo feehi yamtaroon
64. وَأَتَيْنَاكَ بِالْحَقِّ وَإِنَّا لَصَادِقُونَ
Wa ‘Ataynāka Bil-Ĥaqqi Wa ‘Innā Laşādiqūna
15:64 And we have come to you with the truth, and indeed, we are surely truthful.
64. Wa atainaaka bilhaqqi wa innaa lasaadiqoon
65. فَأَسْرِ بِأَهْلِكَ بِقِطْعٍ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ وَاتَّبِعْ أَدْبَارَهُمْ وَلَا يَلْتَفِتْ مِنْكُمْ أَحَدٌ وَامْضُوا حَيْثُ تُؤْمَرُونَ
Fa’asri Bi’ahlika Biqiţ`in Mina Al-Layli Wa Attabi` ‘Adbārahum Wa Lā Yaltafit Minkum ‘Aĥadun Wa Amđū Ĥaythu Tu’umarūna
15:65 So travel with your family in a part of the night and follow their backs/behind them, and do not let anyone among/of you look back, and go on where you are ordered/ commanded.”
65. Fa asri bi ahlika biqit’im minal laili wattabi’ adbaarahum wa laa yaltafit minkum ahadunw wamdoo haisu tu’maroon
66. وَقَضَيْنَا إِلَيْهِ ذَٰلِكَ الْأَمْرَ أَنَّ دَابِرَ هَٰؤُلَاءِ مَقْطُوعٌ مُصْبِحِينَ
Wa Qađaynā ‘Ilayhi Dhālika Al-‘Amra ‘Anna Dābira Hā’uulā‘ Maqţū`un Muşbiĥīna
15:66 And We conveyed to him ˹Lot˺ that decision; that the root of these ˹sinners˺ would be cut off by early morning.

66. Wa qadainaaa ilaihi zaalikal amra anna daabira haaa’ulaaa’i maqtoo’um musbiheen
67. وَجَاءَ أَهْلُ الْمَدِينَةِ يَسْتَبْشِرُونَ
Wa Jā’a ‘Ahlu Al-Madīnati Yastabshirūna
15:67 And there came the people of the city, rejoicing.
15:67 And the people of the city came rejoicing.
67. Wa jaaa’a ahlul madeenati yastabshiroon
68. قَالَ إِنَّ هَٰؤُلَاءِ ضَيْفِي فَلَا تَفْضَحُونِ
Qāla ‘Inna Hā’uulā‘ Đayfī Falā Tafđaĥūni
15:68 He ˹Lot˺ said, “Indeed, these are my guests, so do not embarrass me.
68. Qaala inna haaa’ulaaa’i daifee falaa tafdahoon
69. وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَلَا تُخْزُونِ
Wa Attaqū Al-Laha Wa Lā Tukhzūni
15:69 So/And fear Allah, and do not humiliate me.”
69. Wattaqul laaha wa laa tukhzoon
70. قَالُوا أَوَلَمْ نَنْهَكَ عَنِ الْعَالَمِينَ
Qālū ‘Awalam Nanhaka `Ani Al-`Ālamīna
15:70 They said, “Did we not forbid you from ˹protecting˺ the people/anyone?”
15:70 They said, “Did we not forbid you from ˹protecting the people of˺ the world?”
15:70 They said, “Did we not forbid you from ˹protecting˺ the people/ beings/ any beings/ all beings?”
70. Qaalooo awalam nanhaka ‘anil ‘aalameen
71. قَالَ هَٰؤُلَاءِ بَنَاتِي إِنْ كُنْتُمْ فَاعِلِينَ
Qāla Hā’uulā‘ Banātī ‘In Kuntum Fā`ilīna
15:71 He ˹Lot˺ said, “These are my daughters ˹for marriage˺ if you would do so.”
71. Qaala haaa’ulaaa’i banaateee in kuntum faa’ileen
72. لَعَمْرُكَ إِنَّهُمْ لَفِي سَكْرَتِهِمْ يَعْمَهُونَ
La`amruka ‘Innahum Lafī Sakratihim Ya`mahūna
15:72 By your life indeed, they were in their intoxication, wandering blindly.
15:72 By your life indeed, they were wandering blindly in their intoxication.
72. La’amruka innahum lafee sakratihim ya’mahoon
73. فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ الصَّيْحَةُ مُشْرِقِينَ
Fa’akhadhat/humu Aş-Şayĥatu Mushriqīna
15:73 So, the ˹mighty˺ blast overtook them at sunrise.
73. Fa akhazat humus saihatu mushriqeen
74. فَجَعَلْنَا عَالِيَهَا سَافِلَهَا وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ حِجَارَةً مِنْ سِجِّيلٍ
Faja`alnā `Āliyahā Sāfilahā Wa ‘Amţarnā `Alayhim Ĥijāratan Min Sijjīlin
15:74 And We made ˹the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah turn˺ upside down, and We rained upon them stones of baked clay.
15:74 And We made its highest (part) its lowest, and We rained upon them stones of baked clay.
74. Faja’alnaa ‘aaliyahaa saafilahaa wa amtarnaa ‘alaihim hijaaratam min sijjeel
75. إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِلْمُتَوَسِّمِينَ
‘Inna Fī Dhālika La’āyātin Lilmutawassimīna
15:75 Indeed, in that are the Signs for those who discern/ for those who have insight/ use their understanding/ for those who interpret the signs/ for those who see and understand .
75. Inna fee zaalika la Aayaatil lilmutawassimeen
76. وَإِنَّهَا لَبِسَبِيلٍ مُقِيمٍ
Wa ‘Innahā Labisabīlin Muqīmin
15:76 And indeed, it (i.e., those cities) is ˹situated˺ on a established road.
15:76 And indeed, ˹those cities are situated˺ on a established road.
76. Wa innahaa labi sabeelim muqeem
77. إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَةً لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
‘Inna Fī Dhālika La’āyatan Lilmu’uminīna
15:77 Indeed, in that surely is a Sign for the believers/ for those who believe.
77. Inna fee zaalika la Aayatal lilmu’mineen
78. وَإِنْ كَانَ أَصْحَابُ الْأَيْكَةِ لَظَالِمِينَ
Wa ‘In Kāna ‘Aşĥābu Al-‘Aykati Lažālimīna
15:78 And indeed the companions/residents (i.e., residents) of the thick-wood (i.e., Madian) were surely wrongdoers.
78. Wa in kaana Ashaabul Aikati lazaalimeen
79. فَانْتَقَمْنَا مِنْهُمْ وَإِنَّهُمَا لَبِإِمَامٍ مُبِينٍ
Fāntaqamnā Minhum Wa ‘Innahumā Labi’imāmin Mubīnin
15:79 So We took retribution/revenge from them, and indeed, they both are on a clear/well-known open highway.
79. Fantaqamnaa minhum wa innahumaa labi imaamim mubeen (section 5)
80. وَلَقَدْ كَذَّبَ أَصْحَابُ الْحِجْرِ الْمُرْسَلِينَ
Wa Laqad Kadhdhaba ‘Aşĥābu Al-Ĥijri Al-Mursalīna
15:80 And certainly the companions/residents/ people (i.e., residents) of al-Hijr (i.e., the Rock) the Rocky Tract/ Stone Valley/ the Rock (i.e., Thamud) denied the Messengers.
80. Wa laqad kazzaba ashaabul Hijril mursaleen
81. وَآتَيْنَاهُمْ آيَاتِنَا فَكَانُوا عَنْهَا مُعْرِضِينَ
Wa ‘Ātaynāhum ‘Āyātinā Fakānū `Anhā Mu`riđīna
15:81 And We gave them Our Signs, but they were turning away from them.
81. Wa aatainaahum Aayaatinaa fakaanoo ‘anhaa mu’rideen
82. وَكَانُوا يَنْحِتُونَ مِنَ الْجِبَالِ بُيُوتًا آمِنِينَ
Wa Kānū Yanĥitūna Mina Al-Jibāli Buyūtāan ‘Āminīna
15:82 And they used to carve houses from the mountains, ˹feeling˺ secure.
82. Wa kaanoo yanhitoona minal jibaali buyootan aamineen
83. فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ الصَّيْحَةُ مُصْبِحِينَ
Fa’akhadhat/humu Aş-Şayĥatu Muşbiĥīna
15:83 So/But, the ˹mighty˺ blast overtook them in the morning.
15:83 But seized them the awful cry (at) early morning,
83. Fa akhazat humus saihatu musbiheen
84. فَمَا أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُمْ مَا كَانُوا يَكْسِبُونَ
Famā ‘Aghná `Anhum Mā Kānū Yaksibūna
15:84 And what they used to earn did not availed/help/benefit them.
15:84 And did nothing helped them ˹from˺ what they used to earn.
15:84 And did not availed/help them what they used (to) earn.
84. Famaaa aghnaa ‘anhum maa kaanoo yaksiboon
85. وَمَا خَلَقْنَا السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا إِلَّا بِالْحَقِّ ۗ وَإِنَّ السَّاعَةَ لَآتِيَةٌ ۖ فَاصْفَحِ الصَّفْحَ الْجَمِيلَ
Wa Mā Khalaqnā As-Samāwāti Wa Al-‘Arđa Wa Mā Baynahumā ‘Illā Bil-Ĥaqqi Wa ‘Inna As-Sā`ata La’ātiyatun Fāşfaĥi Aş-Şafĥa Al-Jamīla
15:85 And We have not created the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them except in truth/ with purpose (i.e., with purpose). And indeed, the Hour is surely coming. So overlook/forgive with gracious forgiveness.
85. Wa maa khalaqnas samaawaati wal arda wa maa bainahumaaa illaa bilhaqq; wa innas Saa’ata la aatiyatun fasfahis safhal jameel
86. إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ الْخَلَّاقُ الْعَلِيمُ
‘Inna Rabbaka Huwa Al-Khallāqu Al-`Alīmu
15:86 Indeed, your Lord, He is the Creator, the All-Knower.
86. Inna Rabbaka Huwal khallaaqul ‘aleem
87. وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَاكَ سَبْعًا مِنَ الْمَثَانِي وَالْقُرْآنَ الْعَظِيمَ
Wa Laqad ‘Ātaynāka Sab`āan Mina Al-Mathānī Wa Al-Qur’āna Al-`Ažīma
15:87 And certainly, We have given you seven of the often-repeated ˹verses˺ and the Great Quran.
87. Wa laqad aatainaaka sab’am minal masaanee wal Qur-aanal ‘Azeem
88. لَا تَمُدَّنَّ عَيْنَيْكَ إِلَىٰ مَا مَتَّعْنَا بِهِ أَزْوَاجًا مِنْهُمْ وَلَا تَحْزَنْ عَلَيْهِمْ وَاخْفِضْ جَنَاحَكَ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
Lā Tamuddanna `Aynayka ‘Ilá Mā Matta`nā Bihi ‘Azwājāan Minhum Wa Lā Taĥzan `Alayhim Wa Akhfiđ Janāĥaka Lilmu’uminīna
15:88 Do not extend your eyes towards that by which We have bestowed/provided to certain categories of them and do not grieve over/for them. And lower your wing to the believers.
15:88 Do not extend your eyes towards what We have bestowed/provided with it to ˹certain/some˺ categories of them and do not grieve over them. And lower your wing to the believer.
88. Laa tamuddanna ‘ainaika ilaa maa matta ‘naa biheee azwaajam minhum wa laa tahzan ‘alaihim wakhfid janaahaka lilmu ‘mineen
89. وَقُلْ إِنِّي أَنَا النَّذِيرُ الْمُبِينُ
Wa Qul ‘Innī ‘Anā An-Nadhīru Al-Mubīnu
15:89 And say, “Indeed, I am a clear warner.”
89. Wa qul inneee anan nazeerul mubeen
90. كَمَا أَنْزَلْنَا عَلَى الْمُقْتَسِمِينَ
Kamā ‘Anzalnā `Alá Al-Muqtasimīna
15:90 Just as We sent down (i.e., warning) on those who divided.
90. Kamaaa anzalnaa ‘alal muqtasimeen
91. الَّذِينَ جَعَلُوا الْقُرْآنَ عِضِينَ
Al-Ladhīna Ja`alū Al-Qur’āna `Iđīna
15:91 Those who have made the Quran in parts.
91. Allazeena ja’alul Quraana’ideen
92. فَوَرَبِّكَ لَنَسْأَلَنَّهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
Fawarabbika Lanas’alannahum ‘Ajma`īna
15:92 So by your Lord! surely We will question them all
92. Fawa Rabbika lanas’a lannahum ajma’een
93. عَمَّا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ
`Ammā Kānū Ya`malūna
15:93 About what they used to do.
93. ‘Ammaa kaanoo ya’maloon
94. فَاصْدَعْ بِمَا تُؤْمَرُ وَأَعْرِضْ عَنِ الْمُشْرِكِينَ
Fāşda` Bimā Tu’umaru Wa ‘A`riđ `Ani Al-Mushrikīna
15:94 So proclaim/ openly declare what/ with what/ of what/ that which you are ordered/ commanded and turn away from the polytheists.
94. Fasda’ bimaa tu’maru wa a’rid anil mushrikeen
95. إِنَّا كَفَيْنَاكَ الْمُسْتَهْزِئِينَ
‘Innā Kafaynāka Al-Mustahzi’īna
15:95 Indeed, We are sufficient for you ˹against˺ the mockers
95. Innaa kafainaakal mustahzi’een
96. الَّذِينَ يَجْعَلُونَ مَعَ اللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا آخَرَ ۚ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ
Al-Ladhīna Yaj`alūna Ma`a Al-Lahi ‘Ilahāan ‘Ākhara Fasawfa Ya`lamūna
15:96 Those who set up another god with Allah. But soon they will come to know.
96. Allazeena yaj’aloona ma’al laahi ilaahan aakhar; fasawfa ya’lamoon
97. وَلَقَدْ نَعْلَمُ أَنَّكَ يَضِيقُ صَدْرُكَ بِمَا يَقُولُونَ
Wa Laqad Na`lamu ‘Annaka Yađīqu Şadruka Bimā Yaqūlūna
15:97 And verily, We know that your chest is straitened/distressed by what they say.
97. Wa laqad na’lamu annaka yadeequ sadruka bimaa yaqooloon
98. فَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ وَكُنْ مِنَ السَّاجِدِينَ
Fasabbiĥ Biĥamdi Rabbika Wa Kun Mina As-Sājidīna
15:98 So glorify the praises of your Lord and be of those who prostrate/ bow down to pray/ bow down ˹to Him˺.

98. Fasabbih bihamdi Rabbika wa kum minas saajideen
99. وَاعْبُدْ رَبَّكَ حَتَّىٰ يَأْتِيَكَ الْيَقِينُ
Wa A`bud Rabbaka Ĥattá Ya’tiyaka Al-Yaqīnu
15:99 And worship your Lord until the certainty/the inevitable/the death comes to you.
99. Wa’bud Rabbaka hattaa yaatiyakal yaqeen (section 6)
