1. ن ۚ وَالْقَلَمِ وَمَا يَسْطُرُونَ
Nūn Wa Al-Qalami Wa Mā Yasţurūna
68:1 Nun. By the pen and what they write,
1. Noon; walqalami wa maa yasturoon
2. مَا أَنْتَ بِنِعْمَةِ رَبِّكَ بِمَجْنُونٍ
Mā ‘Anta Bini`mati Rabbika Bimajnūnin
68:2 Not you (are), by (the) Grace (of) your Lord, a madman.
2. Maa anta bini’mati Rabbika bimajnoon
3. وَإِنَّ لَكَ لَأَجْرًا غَيْرَ مَمْنُونٍ
Wa ‘Inna Laka La’ajrāan Ghayra Mamnūnin
68:3 And indeed, for you surely (is) a reward without end.
3. Wa inna laka la ajran ghaira mamnoon
4. وَإِنَّكَ لَعَلَىٰ خُلُقٍ عَظِيمٍ
Wa ‘Innaka La`alá Khuluqin `Ažīmin
68:4 And indeed, you surely (are) (of) a moral character great.
4. Wa innaka la’alaa khuluqin ‘azeem
5. فَسَتُبْصِرُ وَيُبْصِرُونَ
Fasatubşiru Wa Yubşirūna
68:5 So you will see and they will see,
5. Fasatubsiru wa yubsiroon
6. بِأَيْيِكُمُ الْمَفْتُونُ
Bi’ayyyikumu Al-Maftūnu
68:6 Which of you (is) the afflicted one.
6. Bi ayyikumul maftoon
7. إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَنْ ضَلَّ عَنْ سَبِيلِهِ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِالْمُهْتَدِينَ
‘Inna Rabbaka Huwa ‘A`lamu Biman Đalla `An Sabīlihi Wa Huwa ‘A`lamu Bil-Muhtadīna
68:7 Indeed, your Lord, He (is) most knowing of (he) who has strayed from His way, and He (is) most knowing of the guided ones.
7. Innaa Rabbaka Huwa a’lamu biman dalla ‘an sabeelihee wa Huwa a’lamu bilmuhtadeen
8. فَلَا تُطِعِ الْمُكَذِّبِينَ
Falā Tuţi`i Al-Mukadhdhibīna
68:8 So (do) not obey the deniers.
8. Falaa tuti’il mukazzibeen
9. وَدُّوا لَوْ تُدْهِنُ فَيُدْهِنُونَ
Wa Ddū Law Tud/hinu Fayud/hinūna
68:9 They wish that you should compromise, so they would compromise.
9. Waddoo law tudhinu fa-yudhinoon
10. وَلَا تُطِعْ كُلَّ حَلَّافٍ مَهِينٍ
Wa Lā Tuţi` Kulla Ĥallāfin Mahīnin
68:10 And (do) not obey every habitual swearer worthless,
10. Wa laa tuti’ kulla hallaa fim maheen
11. هَمَّازٍ مَشَّاءٍ بِنَمِيمٍ
Hammāzin Mashshā’in Binamīmin
68:11 Defamer going about with malicious gossip,
11. Hammaazim mash shaaa’im binameem
12. مَنَّاعٍ لِلْخَيْرِ مُعْتَدٍ أَثِيمٍ
Mannā`in Lilkhayri Mu`tadin ‘Athīmin
68:12 A preventer, of (the) good, transgressor, sinful,
12. Mannaa’il lilkhairi mu’tadin aseem
13. عُتُلٍّ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ زَنِيمٍ
`Utullin Ba`da Dhālika Zanīmin
68:13 Cruel, after (all) that utterly useless.
13. ‘Utullim ba’da zaalika zaneem
14. أَنْ كَانَ ذَا مَالٍ وَبَنِينَ
‘An Kāna Dhā Mālin Wa Banīna
68:14 Because (he) is a possessor (of) wealth and children,
14. An kaana zaa maalinw-wa baneen
15. إِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ آيَاتُنَا قَالَ أَسَاطِيرُ الْأَوَّلِينَ
‘Idhā Tutlá `Alayhi ‘Āyātunā Qāla ‘Asāţīru Al-‘Awwalīna
68:15 When are recited to him Our Verses, he says, “Stories (of) the former (people).”
15. Izaa tutlaa ‘alaihi aayaatunaa qaala asaateerul awwaleen
16. سَنَسِمُهُ عَلَى الْخُرْطُومِ
Sanasimuhu `Alá Al-Khurţūmi
68:16 We will brand him on the snout.
16. Sanasimuhoo ‘alal khurtoom
17. إِنَّا بَلَوْنَاهُمْ كَمَا بَلَوْنَا أَصْحَابَ الْجَنَّةِ إِذْ أَقْسَمُوا لَيَصْرِمُنَّهَا مُصْبِحِينَ
‘Innā Balawnāhum Kamā Balawnā ‘Aşĥāba Al-Jannati ‘Idh ‘Aqsamū Layaşrimunnahā Muşbiĥīna
68:17 Indeed, We have tried them as We tried (the) companions (of) the garden, when they swore to pluck its fruit (in the) morning,
17. Innaa balawnaahum kamaa balawnaaa As-haabal jannati iz ‘aqsamoo la-yasri munnahaa musbiheen
18. وَلَا يَسْتَثْنُونَ
Wa Lā Yastathnūna
68:18 And not making exception.
18. Wa laa yastasnoon
19. فَطَافَ عَلَيْهَا طَائِفٌ مِنْ رَبِّكَ وَهُمْ نَائِمُونَ
Faţāfa `Alayhā Ţā’ifun Min Rabbika Wa Hum Nā’imūna
68:19 So there came upon it a visitation from your Lord, while they were asleep.
19. Fataafa ‘alaihaa taaa’i fum mir rabbika wa hum naaa’imoon
20. فَأَصْبَحَتْ كَالصَّرِيمِ
Fa’aşbaĥat Kālşşarīmi
68:20 So it became as if reaped.
20. Fa asbahat kassareem
21. فَتَنَادَوْا مُصْبِحِينَ
Fatanādaw Muşbiĥīna
68:21 And they called one another (at) morning,
21. Fatanaadaw musbiheen
22. أَنِ اغْدُوا عَلَىٰ حَرْثِكُمْ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ صَارِمِينَ
‘Ani Aghdū `Alá Ĥarthikum ‘In Kuntum Şārimīna
68:22 That “Go early to your crop if you would pluck (the) fruit.”
22. Anighdoo ‘alaa harsikum in kuntum saarimeen
23. فَانْطَلَقُوا وَهُمْ يَتَخَافَتُونَ
Fānţalaqū Wa Hum Yatakhāfatūna
68:23 So they went, while they lowered (their) voices,
23. Fantalaqoo wa hum yatakhaafatoon
24. أَنْ لَا يَدْخُلَنَّهَا الْيَوْمَ عَلَيْكُمْ مِسْكِينٌ
‘An Lā Yadkhulannahā Al-Yawma `Alaykum Miskīnun
68:24 That “Not will enter it today upon you any poor person.”
24. Al laa yadkhulannahal yawma ‘alaikum miskeen
25. وَغَدَوْا عَلَىٰ حَرْدٍ قَادِرِينَ
Waghadaw `Alá Ĥardin Qādirīna
68:25 And they went early with determination able.
25. Wa ghadaw ‘alaa hardin qaadireen
26. فَلَمَّا رَأَوْهَا قَالُوا إِنَّا لَضَالُّونَ
Falammā Ra’awhā Qālū ‘Innā Lađāllūna
68:26 But when they saw it, they said, “Indeed, we (are) surely lost.
26. Falammaa ra awhaa qaalooo innaa ladaaalloon
27. بَلْ نَحْنُ مَحْرُومُونَ
Bal Naĥnu Maĥrūmūna
68:27 Nay! We (are) deprived.”
27. Bal nahnu mahroomoon
28. قَالَ أَوْسَطُهُمْ أَلَمْ أَقُلْ لَكُمْ لَوْلَا تُسَبِّحُونَ
Qāla ‘Awsaţuhum ‘Alam ‘Aqul Lakum Lawlā Tusabbiĥūna
68:28 Said (the) most moderate of them, “Did not I tell you, ‘Why not you glorify (Allah)?'”
28. Qaala awsatuhum alam aqul lakum law laa tusabbihoon
29. قَالُوا سُبْحَانَ رَبِّنَا إِنَّا كُنَّا ظَالِمِينَ
Qālū Subĥāna Rabbinā ‘Innā Kunnā Žālimīna
68:29 They said, “Glory be (to) our Lord! Indeed, we [we] were wrongdoers.”
29. Qaaloo subhaana rabbinaaa innaa kunnaa zaalimeen
30. فَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَلَاوَمُونَ
Fa’aqbala Ba`đuhum `Alá Ba`đin Yatalāwamūna
68:30 Then approached, some of them to others blaming each other.
30. Fa aqbala ba’duhum ‘alaa ba’diny yatalaawamoon
31. قَالُوا يَا وَيْلَنَا إِنَّا كُنَّا طَاغِينَ
Qālū Yā Waylanā ‘Innā Kunnā Ţāghīna
68:31 They said, “O woe to us! Indeed, we [we] were transgressors.
31. Qaaloo yaa wailanaaa innaa kunnaa taagheen
32. عَسَىٰ رَبُّنَا أَنْ يُبْدِلَنَا خَيْرًا مِنْهَا إِنَّا إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا رَاغِبُونَ
`Asá Rabbunā ‘An Yubdilanā Khayrāan Minhā ‘Innā ‘Ilá Rabbinā Rāghibūna
68:32 Perhaps, our Lord, [that] will substitute for us a better than it. Indeed, we to our Lord turn devoutly.”
32. ‘Asaa rabbunaaa any yubdilanaa khairam minhaaa innaaa ilaa rabbinaa raaghiboon
33. كَذَٰلِكَ الْعَذَابُ ۖ وَلَعَذَابُ الْآخِرَةِ أَكْبَرُ ۚ لَوْ كَانُوا يَعْلَمُونَ
Kadhālika Al-`Adhābu Wa La`adhābu Al-‘Ākhirati ‘Akbaru Law Kānū Ya`lamūna
68:33 Such (is) the punishment. And surely the punishment (of) the Hereafter (is) greater, if they know.
33. Kazaalikal azaab, wa la’azaabul aakhirati akbar; law kaanoo ya’lamoon
34. إِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ عِنْدَ رَبِّهِمْ جَنَّاتِ النَّعِيمِ
‘Inna Lilmuttaqīna `Inda Rabbihim Jannāti An-Na`īmi
68:34 Indeed, for the righteous with their Lord (are) Gardens (of) Delight.
34. Inna lilmuttaqeena ‘inda rabbihim jannaatin na’eem
35. أَفَنَجْعَلُ الْمُسْلِمِينَ كَالْمُجْرِمِينَ
‘Afanaj`alu Al-Muslimīna Kālmujrimīna
68:35 Then will We treat the Muslims like the criminals?
35. Afanaj’alul muslimeena kalmujrimeen
36. مَا لَكُمْ كَيْفَ تَحْكُمُونَ
Mā Lakum Kayfa Taĥkumūna
68:36 What (is) for you? How (do) you judge?
36. Maa lakum kaifa tahkumoon
37. أَمْ لَكُمْ كِتَابٌ فِيهِ تَدْرُسُونَ
‘Am Lakum Kitābun Fīhi Tadrusūna
68:37 Or (is) for you a book wherein you learn,
37. Am lakum kitaabun feehi tadrusoon
38. إِنَّ لَكُمْ فِيهِ لَمَا تَخَيَّرُونَ
‘Inna Lakum Fīhi Lamā Takhayyarūna
68:38 Indeed for you in it what you choose?
38. Inna lakum feehi lamaa takhaiyaroon
39. أَمْ لَكُمْ أَيْمَانٌ عَلَيْنَا بَالِغَةٌ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ ۙ إِنَّ لَكُمْ لَمَا تَحْكُمُونَ
‘Am Lakum ‘Aymānun `Alaynā Bālighatun ‘Ilá Yawmi Al-Qiyāmati ‘Inna Lakum Lamā Taĥkumūna
68:39 Or for you oaths from us, reaching to (the) Day (of) the Resurrection, indeed, for you (is) what you judge?
39. Am lakum aymaanun ‘alainaa baalighatun ilaa yawmil qiyaamati inna lakum lamaa tahkumoon
40. سَلْهُمْ أَيُّهُمْ بِذَٰلِكَ زَعِيمٌ
Salhum ‘Ayyuhum Bidhālika Za`īmun
68:40 Ask them, which of them for that (is) responsible.
40. Salhum ayyuhum bizaa lika za’eem
41. أَمْ لَهُمْ شُرَكَاءُ فَلْيَأْتُوا بِشُرَكَائِهِمْ إِنْ كَانُوا صَادِقِينَ
‘Am Lahum Shurakā’u Falya’tū Bishurakā’ihim ‘In Kānū Şādiqīna
68:41 Or (are) for them partners? Then let them bring their partners, if they are truthful.
41. Am lahum shurakaaa’u fal ya’too bishurakaaa ‘ihim in kaanoo saadiqeen
42. يَوْمَ يُكْشَفُ عَنْ سَاقٍ وَيُدْعَوْنَ إِلَى السُّجُودِ فَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ
Yawma Yukshafu `An Sāqin Wa Yud`awna ‘Ilá As-Sujūdi Falā Yastaţī`ūna
68:42 (The) Day will be uncovered from the shin and they will be called to prostrate, but not they will be able,
42. Yawma yukshafu ‘an saaqinw wa yud’awna ilas sujoodi falaa yastatee’oon
43. خَاشِعَةً أَبْصَارُهُمْ تَرْهَقُهُمْ ذِلَّةٌ ۖ وَقَدْ كَانُوا يُدْعَوْنَ إِلَى السُّجُودِ وَهُمْ سَالِمُونَ
Khāshi`atan ‘Abşāruhum Tarhaquhum Dhillatun Wa Qad Kānū Yud`awna ‘Ilá As-Sujūdi Wa Hum Sālimūna
68:43 Humbled, their eyes, will cover them humiliation. And indeed, they were called to prostrate while they (were) sound.
43. Khaashi’atan absaaruhum tarhaquhum zillatunw wa qad kaanoo yud’awna ilassujoodi wa hum saalimoon
44. فَذَرْنِي وَمَنْ يُكَذِّبُ بِهَٰذَا الْحَدِيثِ ۖ سَنَسْتَدْرِجُهُمْ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
Fadharnī Wa Man Yukadhdhibu Bihadhā Al-Ĥadīthi Sanastadrijuhum Min Ĥaythu Lā Ya`lamūna
68:44 So leave Me and whoever denies this Statement, We will progressively lead them from where not they know.
44. Fazarnee wa many yukazzibu bihaazal hadeesi sanastad rijuhum min haisu laa ya’lamoon
45. وَأُمْلِي لَهُمْ ۚ إِنَّ كَيْدِي مَتِينٌ
Wa ‘Umlī Lahum ‘Inna Kaydī Matīnun
68:45 And I will give respite to them. Indeed, My plan (is) firm.
45. Wa umlee lahum; inna kaidee mateen
46. أَمْ تَسْأَلُهُمْ أَجْرًا فَهُمْ مِنْ مَغْرَمٍ مُثْقَلُونَ
‘Am Tas’aluhum ‘Ajrāan Fahum Min Maghramin Muthqalūna
68:46 Or you ask them a payment, so they from (the) debt (are) burdened?
46. Am tas’aluhum ajran fahum min maghramin musqaloon
47. أَمْ عِنْدَهُمُ الْغَيْبُ فَهُمْ يَكْتُبُونَ
‘Am `Indahumu Al-Ghaybu Fahum Yaktubūna
68:47 Or (is) with them the unseen, so they write it?
47. Am ‘indahumul ghaibu fahum yaktuboon
48. فَاصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ وَلَا تَكُنْ كَصَاحِبِ الْحُوتِ إِذْ نَادَىٰ وَهُوَ مَكْظُومٌ
Fāşbir Liĥukmi Rabbika Wa Lā Takun Kaşāĥibi Al-Ĥūti ‘Idh Nādá Wa Huwa Makžūmun
68:48 So be patient for (the) decision (of) your Lord, and (do) not be like (the) companion (of) the fish, when he called out, while he (was) distressed.
48. Fasbir lihukmi rabbika wa laa takun kasaahibil hoot; iz naadaa wa huwa makzoom
49. لَوْلَا أَنْ تَدَارَكَهُ نِعْمَةٌ مِنْ رَبِّهِ لَنُبِذَ بِالْعَرَاءِ وَهُوَ مَذْمُومٌ
Lawlā ‘An Tadārakahu Ni`matun Min Rabbihi Lanubidha Bil-`Arā’i Wa Huwa Madhmūmun
68:49 If not that overtook him a Favor from his Lord, surely he would have been thrown onto (the) naked shore while he (was) blamed.
49. Law laaa an tadaara kahoo ni’matum mir rabbihee lanubiza bil’araaa’i wa huwa mazmoom
50. فَاجْتَبَاهُ رَبُّهُ فَجَعَلَهُ مِنَ الصَّالِحِينَ
Fājtabāhu Rabbuhu Faja`alahu Mina Aş-Şāliĥīna
68:50 But chose him, his Lord, and made him of the righteous.
50. Fajtabaahu rabbuhoo faja’alahoo minas saaliheen
51. وَإِنْ يَكَادُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لَيُزْلِقُونَكَ بِأَبْصَارِهِمْ لَمَّا سَمِعُوا الذِّكْرَ وَيَقُولُونَ إِنَّهُ لَمَجْنُونٌ
Wa ‘In Yakādu Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Layuzliqūnaka Bi’abşārihim Lammā Sami`ū Adh-Dhikra Wa Yaqūlūna ‘Innahu Lamajnūnun
68:51 And indeed, would almost those who disbelieve, surely make you slip with their look when they hear the Message, and they say, “Indeed, he (is) surely mad.”
51. Wa iny-yakaadul lazeena kafaroo la-yuzliqoonaka biabsaarihim lammaa sami’uz-Zikra wa yaqooloona innahoo lamajnoon
52. وَمَا هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ لِلْعَالَمِينَ
Wa Mā Huwa ‘Illā Dhikrun Lil`ālamīna
68:52 And not it (is) but a Reminder to the worlds.
52. Wa maa huwa illaa zikrul lil’aalameen
