7. Surah Al-A’raf

7:1 Alif Laam Meem Saad.
1. Alif-Laaam-Meeem-Saaad
2. كِتَابٌ أُنْزِلَ إِلَيْكَ فَلَا يَكُنْ فِي صَدْرِكَ حَرَجٌ مِنْهُ لِتُنْذِرَ بِهِ وَذِكْرَىٰ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
KitābunUnzila ‘Ilayka Falā Yakun Şadrika Ĥarajun Minhu Litundhira Bihi Wa Dhikrá Lilmu’uminīna
7:2 ˹This is˺ a Book revealed/ sent down to you ˹O Prophet˺ – so do not let any uneasiness be in your chest from it, so that you warn with it, and as a reminder for the believers.
2. Kitaabun unzila ilaika falaa yakun fee sadrika harajum minhu litunzira bihee wa zikraa lilmu’mineen
3. اتَّبِعُوا مَا أُنْزِلَ إِلَيْكُمْ مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ وَلَا تَتَّبِعُوا مِنْ دُونِهِ أَوْلِيَاءَ ۗ قَلِيلًا مَا تَذَكَّرُونَ
Attabi`ū Unzila Ilaykum Min Rabbikum Wa Lā Tattabi`ū Min Dūnihi Awliyā’a Qalīlāan Tadhakkarūna
7:3 Follow what has been revealed/ sent down to you from your Lord, and do not follow any allies/ guardians from beside Him. Little is what/do you remember.
3. Ittabi’oo maaa unzila ‘ilaikum mir Rabbikum wa laa tattabi’oo min dooniheee awliyaaa’a; qaleelam maa tazakkaroon
4. وَكَمْ مِنْ قَرْيَةٍ أَهْلَكْنَاهَا فَجَاءَهَا بَأْسُنَا بَيَاتًا أَوْ هُمْ قَائِلُونَ
Wa Kam Min QaryatinAhlaknāhā Fajā’ahā Ba’sunā Bayātāan Aw Hum Qā’ilūna

7:4 And how many of the towns have We destroyed, and Our punishment came to it at night or while they were sleeping at noon/ afternoon/ midday/ for afternoon rest
7:4 And how many of a city We destroyed it, and came to it Our punishment (at) night or (while) they were sleeping at noon.
4. Wa kam min qaryatin ahlaknaahaa fajaaa’ahaa ba’sunaa bayaatan aw hum qaaa’iloon
5. فَمَا كَانَ دَعْوَاهُمْ إِذْ جَاءَهُمْ بَأْسُنَا إِلَّا أَنْ قَالُوا إِنَّا كُنَّا ظَالِمِينَ
Famā Kāna Da`wāhum ‘Idh Jā’ahum Ba’sunāIllā ‘An Qālū ‘Innā Kunnā Žālimīna

7:5 Then when Our punishment came to them their cry was nothing except that they said, “Indeed, we were wrongdoers.”

7:5 Then not was their plea when came to them Our punishment except that they said, “Indeed, we were wrongdoers.”
5. Famaa kaana da’waahum iz jaaa’ahum ba’sunaa illaaa an qaalooo innaa kunnaa zaalimeen
6. فَلَنَسْأَلَنَّ الَّذِينَ أُرْسِلَ إِلَيْهِمْ وَلَنَسْأَلَنَّ الْمُرْسَلِينَ
Falanas’alanna Al-LadhīnaUrsila Ilayhim Wa Lanas’alanna Al-Mursalīna
7:6 Then surely We will question those to whom the Messengers/ Message were sent to them, and surely We will question the Messengers ˹themselves˺.

7:6 Then surely We will question to them, those to whom the Messengers/ Message were sent, and surely We will question the Messengers ˹themselves˺.
6. Falanas ‘alannal lazeena ursila ilaihim wa lanas ‘alannal mursaleen
7. فَلَنَقُصَّنَّ عَلَيْهِمْ بِعِلْمٍ ۖ وَمَا كُنَّا غَائِبِينَ
Falanaquşşanna `Alayhim Bi`ilmin Wa Mā Kunnā Ghā’ibīna
7:7 Then surely We will narrate to them with knowledge, and We were not absent.
7. Falanaqussanna ‘alaihim bi’ilminw wa maa kunnaa ghaaa’ibeen
8. وَالْوَزْنُ يَوْمَئِذٍ الْحَقُّ ۚ فَمَنْ ثَقُلَتْ مَوَازِينُهُ فَأُولَٰئِكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُونَ
Wa Al-Waznu Yawma’idhin Al-Ĥaqqu Faman Thaqulat Mawāzīnuhu Fa’ūlā’ika Humu Al-Mufliĥūna
7:8 And the weighing ˹of deeds˺ that day will be the truth. So whose/ As for the one whose/ So those whose – (will be) heavy his scales, then those, they/ are will be the successful ones.

7:8 And the weighing ˹of deeds˺ that day will be the truth. So whoever has his scales heavy, then those are/ they will be the successful ones.
8. Walwaznu Yawma’izinil haqq; faman saqulat mawaa zeenuhoo fa-ulaaa’ika humul muflihoon
9. وَمَنْ خَفَّتْ مَوَازِينُهُ فَأُولَٰئِكَ الَّذِينَ خَسِرُوا أَنْفُسَهُمْ بِمَا كَانُوا بِآيَاتِنَا يَظْلِمُونَ
Wa Man Khaffat Mawāzīnuhu Fa’ūlā’ika Al-Ladhīna Khasirū Anfusahum Bimā Kānū Bi’āyātinā Yažlimūna

7:9 And whoever has his scales light, so those will be the ones who lost themselves, because they were doing injustice/wrong to Our Verses.

7:9 And (for) those (will be) light his scales, so those will be the ones who lost, themselves because they were to Our Verses (doing) injustice.
9. Wa man khaffat mawaazeenuhoo fa ulaaa’ikal lazeena khasirooo anfusahum bimaa kaanoo bi Aayaatinaa yazlimoon
10. وَلَقَدْ مَكَّنَّاكُمْ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَجَعَلْنَا لَكُمْ فِيهَا مَعَايِشَ ۗ قَلِيلًا مَا تَشْكُرُونَ
Wa Laqad Makkannākum Al-‘Arđi Wa Ja`alnā Lakum Fīhā Ma`āyisha Qalīlāan Tashkurūna
7:10 And certainly We established you in/ on the earth and We made livelihood for you in it. Little is what you are grateful/ you give thanks.
10. Wa laqad makkannaakum fil ardi wa ja’alnaa lakum feehaa ma’aayish; qaleelam maa tashkuroon (section 1)
11. وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَاكُمْ ثُمَّ صَوَّرْنَاكُمْ ثُمَّ قُلْنَا لِلْمَلَائِكَةِ اسْجُدُوا لِآدَمَ فَسَجَدُوا إِلَّا إِبْلِيسَ لَمْ يَكُنْ مِنَ السَّاجِدِينَ
Wa Laqad Khalaqnākum Thumma Şawwarnākum Thumma Qulnā Lilmalā’ikati Asjudū Li’dama Fasajadū ‘Illā Iblīsa Lam Yakun Mina As-Sājidīna
7:11 And certainly We created you ˹humankind˺ then We fashioned/ shaped/ formed you. Then We said to the Angels, “Prostrate to Adam,So they prostrated, except Iblees/Iblis; he was not of those who prostrated.
11. Wa laqad khalaqnaakum summa sawwarnaakum summa qulnaa lilmalaaa’ikatis judoo li Aadama fa-sajadooo illaaa Ibleesa lam yakum minas saajideen
12. قَالَ مَا مَنَعَكَ أَلَّا تَسْجُدَ إِذْ أَمَرْتُكَ ۖ قَالَ أَنَا خَيْرٌ مِنْهُ خَلَقْتَنِي مِنْ نَارٍ وَخَلَقْتَهُ مِنْ طِينٍ
Qāla Mana`aka ‘Allā Tasjuda ‘IdhAmartuka Qāla Anā Khayrun Minhu Khalaqtanī Min Nārin Wa Khalaqtahu Min Ţīnin
7:12 ˹Allah˺ said, What prevented you that you did not prostrate when I commanded you?” ˹satan˺ said,I am better than him ˹Adam˺. You created me ˹satan˺ from fire and You created him ˹Adam˺ from clay.
12. Qaala maa mana’aka allaa tasjuda iz amartuka qaala ana khairum minhu khalaqtanee min naarinw wa khalaqtahoo min teen
13. قَالَ فَاهْبِطْ مِنْهَا فَمَا يَكُونُ لَكَ أَنْ تَتَكَبَّرَ فِيهَا فَاخْرُجْ إِنَّكَ مِنَ الصَّاغِرِينَ
Qāla Fāhbiţ Minhā Famā Yakūnu LakaAn Tatakabbara Fīhā Fākhruj Innaka Mina Aş-Şāghirīna
7:13 ˹Allah˺ said, Then go down from it (i.e., Paradise)! for it is not for you that you be arrogant in it (i.e., Paradise). So get out! indeed, you are of those who are disgraced/ the disgraced ones.”
13. Qaala fahbit minhaa famaa yakoonu laka an tatakabbara feehaa fakhruj innaka minas saaghireen
14. قَالَ أَنْظِرْنِي إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ
Qāla ‘Anžirnī ‘Ilá Yawmi Yub`athūna
7:14 ˹satan˺ said, “Give me respite/time/delay/postponement until the Day they are raised up/ they are resurrected (i.e. the Day of Resurrection).
14. Qaala anzirneee ilaa Yawmi yub’asoon
15. قَالَ إِنَّكَ مِنَ الْمُنْظَرِينَ
Qāla ‘Innaka Mina Al-Munžarīna
7:15 ˹Allah˺ said,Indeed, you are of the ones given respite/postponement/ those given postponement ˹until the appointed Day˺.
15. Qaala innaka minal munzareen
16. قَالَ فَبِمَا أَغْوَيْتَنِي لَأَقْعُدَنَّ لَهُمْ صِرَاطَكَ الْمُسْتَقِيمَ
Qāla Fabimā Aghwaytanī La’aq`udanna Lahum Şirāţaka Al-Mustaqīma
7:16 ˹then satan˺ said,Because You have sent me astray/ put me in error/ sent me out of place/path/track, surely I will sit ˹waiting˺ for them (i.e., humans) on Your Straight Path.
16. Qaala fabimaaa aghway tanee la aq’udanna lahum Siraatakal Mustaqeem
17. ثُمَّ لَآتِيَنَّهُمْ مِنْ بَيْنِ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمِنْ خَلْفِهِمْ وَعَنْ أَيْمَانِهِمْ وَعَنْ شَمَائِلِهِمْ ۖ وَلَا تَجِدُ أَكْثَرَهُمْ شَاكِرِينَ
Thumma La’ātiyannahum Min Bayni Aydīhim Wa Min Khalfihim Wa `AnAymānihim Wa `An Shamā’ilihim Wa Lā Tajidu Aktharahum Shākirīna
7:17 Then surely, I will come to them (i.e., humans) from between their hands and from behind them and from their right and from their left, and you will not find most of them grateful (to You).”
17. Summa la aatiyannahum mim baini aideehim wa min khalfihim wa ‘an aimaanihim wa ‘an shamaaa’ilihim wa laa tajidu aksarahum shaakireen
18. قَالَ اخْرُجْ مِنْهَا مَذْءُومًا مَدْحُورًا ۖ لَمَنْ تَبِعَكَ مِنْهُمْ لَأَمْلَأَنَّ جَهَنَّمَ مِنْكُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
Qāla Akhruj Minhā Madh’ūmāan Madĥūrāan Laman Tabi`aka Minhum La’amla’anna Jahannama Minkum ‘Ajma`īna
7:18 ˹Allah˺ said, ˹to Iblees˺ “Get out of it (i.e., Paradise)! disgraced and expelled. Certainly, whoever among them (i.e., humans) follows you, surely, I will fill Hell with you all together/ with all of you.
18. Qaalakhruj minhaa maz’oomam madhooraa; laman tabi’aka minhum la amla’anna Jahannama minkum ajma’een
19. وَيَا آدَمُ اسْكُنْ أَنْتَ وَزَوْجُكَ الْجَنَّةَ فَكُلَا مِنْ حَيْثُ شِئْتُمَا وَلَا تَقْرَبَا هَٰذِهِ الشَّجَرَةَ فَتَكُونَا مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ
Wa Yā’ādamu Us’kun Anta Wa Zawjuka Al-Jannata Fakulā Min Ĥaythu Shi’tumā Wa Lā Taqrabā Hadhihi Ash-Shajarata Fatakūnā Mina Až-Žālimīna
7:19 ˹Allah said,˺ And O Adam! live, you and your wife in the Garden, and you both eat from wherever you both wish, but do not approach/go near this tree, or else/then you both will be among the wrongdoers.

then both of you will be among the wrongdoers.
19. Wa yaaa Aadamus kun anta wa zawjukal Jannata fakulaa min haisu shi’tumaa wa laa taqrabaa haazihish shajarata fatakoonaa minaz zaalimeen
20. فَوَسْوَسَ لَهُمَا الشَّيْطَانُ لِيُبْدِيَ لَهُمَا مَا وُورِيَ عَنْهُمَا مِنْ سَوْآتِهِمَا وَقَالَ مَا نَهَاكُمَا رَبُّكُمَا عَنْ هَٰذِهِ الشَّجَرَةِ إِلَّا أَنْ تَكُونَا مَلَكَيْنِ أَوْ تَكُونَا مِنَ الْخَالِدِينَ
Fawaswasa Lahumā Ash-Shayţānu Liyubdiya Lahumā Wūriya `Anhumā Min Saw’ātihimā Wa Qāla Nahākumā Rabbukumā `An Hadhihi Ash-Shajarati ‘IllāAn Takūnā Malakayni Aw Takūnā Mina Al-Khālidīna
7:20 Then the Satan whispered to them to expose to them what was hidden from both of them of their shame/ private parts. And he said, “Your Lord did not forbid you both from this tree except that you two become Angels or you two become of the immortals (i.e., live forever).”
20. Fawaswasa lahumash Shaitaanu liyubdiya lahumaa maa wooriya ‘anhumaa min saw aatihimaa wa qaala maa nahaakumaa Rabbukumaa ‘an haazihish shajarati illaaa an takoonaa malakaini aw takoonaa minal khaalideen
21. وَقَاسَمَهُمَا إِنِّي لَكُمَا لَمِنَ النَّاصِحِينَ
Wa Qāsamahumā  ‘Innī Lakumā Lamina An-Nāşiĥīna

7:21 And he swore to both of them, “Indeed, I am of the sincere advisors to both of you.”
21. Wa qaasamahumaaa innee lakumaa laminan naasiheen
22. فَدَلَّاهُمَا بِغُرُورٍ ۚ فَلَمَّا ذَاقَا الشَّجَرَةَ بَدَتْ لَهُمَا سَوْآتُهُمَا وَطَفِقَا يَخْصِفَانِ عَلَيْهِمَا مِنْ وَرَقِ الْجَنَّةِ ۖ وَنَادَاهُمَا رَبُّهُمَا أَلَمْ أَنْهَكُمَا عَنْ تِلْكُمَا الشَّجَرَةِ وَأَقُلْ لَكُمَا إِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ لَكُمَا عَدُوٌّ مُبِينٌ
Fadallāhumā Bighurūrin Falammā Dhāqā Ash-Shajarata Badat Lahumā Saw’ātuhumā Wa Ţafiqā Yakhşifāni `Alayhimā Min Waraqi Al-Jannati Wa Nādāhumā Rabbuhumā Alam Anhakumā `An Tilkumā Ash-Shajarati Wa ‘Aqul Lakumā Inna Ash-Shayţāna Lakumā `Adūwun Mubīnun
7:22 So he made both of them fall by deception. And when they both tasted of the tree, their shame/ private parts became apparent/ expose to both of them, and they began to fasten/ cover over themselves from the leaves of the Garden/ Paradise. And their Lord called out to them both, Did I not forbid you both from this/that tree and ˹did I not˺ say to both of you, that the Satan is an open enemy to both of you?”
22. Fadallaahumaa bighuroor; falammaa zaaqash shajarata badat lahumaa saw aatuhumaa wa tafiqaa yakhsifaani ‘alaihimaa minw waraqil jannati wa naadaahumaa Rabbuhumaaa alam anhakumaa ‘an tilkumash shajarati wa aqul lakumaaa innash Shaitaana lakumaa ‘aduwwum mubeen
23. قَالَا رَبَّنَا ظَلَمْنَا أَنْفُسَنَا وَإِنْ لَمْ تَغْفِرْ لَنَا وَتَرْحَمْنَا لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ
Qālā Rabbanā Žalamnā Anfusanā Wa ‘In Lam Taghfir Lanā Wa Tarĥamnā Lanakūnanna Mina Al-Khāsirīna
7:23 Both of them said,Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves, and if You do not forgive us and have mercy on us, we will surely be among the losers.

23. Qaalaa Rabbanaa zalamnaaa anfusanaa wa illam taghfir lanaa wa tarhamnaa lanakoonanna minal khaasireen
24. قَالَ اهْبِطُوا بَعْضُكُمْ لِبَعْضٍ عَدُوٌّ ۖ وَلَكُمْ فِي الْأَرْضِ مُسْتَقَرٌّ وَمَتَاعٌ إِلَىٰ حِينٍ
Qāla Ahbiţū Ba`đukum Liba`đin `Adūwun Wa Lakum Al-‘Arđi Mustaqarrun Wa Matā`unIlá Ĥīnin
7:24 ˹Allah˺ said, “Get down, some of you as enemies to others. And in/on the earth will be a dwelling place/ place of settlement/ a residence for you and livelihood for a time/ while/ period.
24. Qaalah bitoo ba’dukum liba’din aduwwunw wa lakum fil ardi mustaqarrunw wa mataa’un ilaaheen
25. قَالَ فِيهَا تَحْيَوْنَ وَفِيهَا تَمُوتُونَ وَمِنْهَا تُخْرَجُونَ
Qāla Fīhā Taĥyawna Wa Fīhā Tamūtūna Wa Minhā Tukhrajūna
7:25 He said,In it you will live and in it you will die and from it you will be brought forth/out.”
25. Qaala feehaa tahyawna wa feehaa tamootoona wa minhaa tukhrajoon (section 2)
26. يَا بَنِي آدَمَ قَدْ أَنْزَلْنَا عَلَيْكُمْ لِبَاسًا يُوَارِي سَوْآتِكُمْ وَرِيشًا ۖ وَلِبَاسُ التَّقْوَىٰ ذَٰلِكَ خَيْرٌ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ مِنْ آيَاتِ اللَّهِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَذَّكَّرُونَ
Yā BanīĀdama QadAnzalnā `Alaykum Libāsāan Yuwārī Saw”ātikum Wa Rīshāan Wa Libāsu At-Taqwá Dhālika Khayrun Dhālika Min ‘Āyā Ti Al-Lahi La`allahum Yadhdhakkarūna
7:26 O Children of Adam! Verily We have sent down to/for/upon you clothing to cover your shame/private parts/ nakedness and as an adornment. But the clothing of righteousnessthat is best. That is from the Signs/ Revelations of Allah so that they may remember.
26. Yaa Baneee Aadama qad anzalnaa ‘alaikum libaasany yuwaaree saw aatikum wa reeshanw wa libaasut taqwaa zaalika khair; zaalika min Aayaatil laahi la’allahum yaz zakkaroon
27. يَا بَنِي آدَمَ لَا يَفْتِنَنَّكُمُ الشَّيْطَانُ كَمَا أَخْرَجَ أَبَوَيْكُمْ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ يَنْزِعُ عَنْهُمَا لِبَاسَهُمَا لِيُرِيَهُمَا سَوْآتِهِمَا ۗ إِنَّهُ يَرَاكُمْ هُوَ وَقَبِيلُهُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَا تَرَوْنَهُمْ ۗ إِنَّا جَعَلْنَا الشَّيَاطِينَ أَوْلِيَاءَ لِلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ
Yā Banī Ādama Yaftinannakumu Ash-Shayţānu Kamā Akhraja Abawaykum Mina Al-Jannati Yanzi`u `Anhumā Libāsahumā Liyuriyahumā Saw”ātihimāInnahu Yarākum Huwa Wa Qabīluhu Min Ĥaythu Tarawnahum Innā Ja`alnā Ash-Shayā Ţīna Awliyā ‘A Lilladhīna Yu’uminūna
7:27 O Children of Adam! Do not let the Satan tempt/seduce you as he drove out your parents from Paradise, stripping/ removing their clothing from both of them to show/ expose both of them their shame. Indeed, he and his tribe sees you from where you can not see them. Indeed, We have made the devils allies of those who do not believe.
27. Yaa Banee Aadama laa yaftinannnakumush Shaitaanu kamaaa akhraja abawaikum minal Jannati yanzi’u ‘anhumaa libaasahumaa liyuriyahumaa saw aatihimaaa; innahoo yaraakum huwa wa qabeeluhoo min haisu laa tarawnahum; innaa ja’alnash Shayaateena awliyaaa’a lillazeena laa yu’minoon
28. وَإِذَا فَعَلُوا فَاحِشَةً قَالُوا وَجَدْنَا عَلَيْهَا آبَاءَنَا وَاللَّهُ أَمَرَنَا بِهَا ۗ قُلْ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَأْمُرُ بِالْفَحْشَاءِ ۖ أَتَقُولُونَ عَلَى اللَّهِ مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ
Wa ‘Idhā Fa`alū Fāĥishatan Qālū Wajadnā `Alayhā Ābā’anā Wa AllāhuAmaranā Bihā Qul Inna Al-Laha Ya’muru Bil-Faĥshā’i Ataqūlūna `Alá Al-Lahi Ta`lamūna
7:28 And when they commit immorality/ shameful deed, they say,we found our forefathers on it and Allah has ordered us of it. Say, “Indeed, Allah does not order immorality/ shameful deed. Do you say about Allah what you do not know?”
28. Wa izaa fa’aloo faahishatan qaaloo wajadnaa ‘alaihaaa aabaaa’ana wallaahu amaranaa bihaa; qul innal laaha laa ya’muru bilfahshaaa’i a-taqooloona ‘alal laahi maa laa ta’lamoon
29. قُلْ أَمَرَ رَبِّي بِالْقِسْطِ ۖ وَأَقِيمُوا وُجُوهَكُمْ عِنْدَ كُلِّ مَسْجِدٍ وَادْعُوهُ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ الدِّينَ ۚ كَمَا بَدَأَكُمْ تَعُودُونَ
Qul Amara Rabbī Bil-Qisţi Wa ‘Aqīmū Wujūhakum `Inda Kulli Masjidin Wa Ad`ūhu Mukhlişīna Lahu Ad-Dīna Kamā Bada’akum Ta`ūdūna
7:29 Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “My Lord has commanded justice and ˹that you˺ establish your faces at every place ˹or time˺ of worship and call on Him being sincere to Him in the religion. Just as He originated/ first created you, you will return/ come back ˹to life˺.”
29. Qul amara Rabbee bilqisti wa aqeemoo wujoohakum ‘inda kulli masjidin wad’oohu mukhliseena lahud deen; kamaa bada akum ta’oodoon
30. فَرِيقًا هَدَىٰ وَفَرِيقًا حَقَّ عَلَيْهِمُ الضَّلَالَةُ ۗ إِنَّهُمُ اتَّخَذُوا الشَّيَاطِينَ أَوْلِيَاءَ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ وَيَحْسَبُونَ أَنَّهُمْ مُهْتَدُونَ
Farīqāan Hadá Wa Farīqāan Ĥaqqa `Alayhimu Ađ-ĐalālatuInnahumu Attakhadhū Ash-Shayāţīna ‘Awliyā’a Min Dūni Al-Lahi Wa YaĥsabūnaAnnahum Muhtadūna
7:30 He guided a group and ˹another˺ group deserved the a/straying on/for them. Indeed, they take the devils as allies/guardians/ protective guardians/ proctectors/ masters from besides Allah and they think that they are the guided-ones/ ˹rightly˺ guided.
30. Fareeqan hadaa wa fareeqan haqqa ‘alaihimud dalaalah; innahumut takhazush Shayaateena awliyaaa’a min doonil laahi wa yahsaboona annahum muhtadoon
31. يَا بَنِي آدَمَ خُذُوا زِينَتَكُمْ عِنْدَ كُلِّ مَسْجِدٍ وَكُلُوا وَاشْرَبُوا وَلَا تُسْرِفُوا ۚ إِنَّهُ لَا يُحِبُّ الْمُسْرِفِينَ
Yā BanīĀdama Khudhū Zīnatakum `Inda Kulli Masjidin Wa Kulū Wa Ashrabū Wa Lā Tusrifū Innahu Yuĥibbu Al-Musrifīna
7:31 O Children of Adam! Take your adornment (i.e., clean and fine cloths) (i.e., dress well) at every place ˹or time˺ of worship, and eat and drink but do not be extravagant/ wasteful. Indeed, He does not love the extravagant ones/ wasteful.
31. Yaa Banneee Adama khuzoo zeenatakum ‘inda kulli masjidinw wa kuloo washraboo wa laa tusrifoo; innahoo laa yuhibbul musrifeen (section 3)
32. قُلْ مَنْ حَرَّمَ زِينَةَ اللَّهِ الَّتِي أَخْرَجَ لِعِبَادِهِ وَالطَّيِّبَاتِ مِنَ الرِّزْقِ ۚ قُلْ هِيَ لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا فِي الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا خَالِصَةً يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ۗ كَذَٰلِكَ نُفَصِّلُ الْآيَاتِ لِقَوْمٍ يَعْلَمُونَ
Qul Man Ĥarrama Zīnata Al-Lahi Allatī Akhraja Li`ibādihi Wa Aţ-Ţayyibāti Mina Ar-Rizqi Qul Hiya Lilladhīna Āmanū Al-Ĥayāati Ad-Dunyā Khālişatan Yawma Al-Qiyāmati Kadhālika Nufaşşilu Al-‘Āyāti Liqawmin Ya`lamūna

7:32 Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “Who has forbidden the adornment of Allah and the pure things of sustenance/ provision which He ˹Allah˺ has brought forth/out for His slaves/ servants?” Say, “They (i.e., adornment and pure things) are for those who believe during the life of the world, ˹but they will be˺ exclusively ˹theirs˺ (i.e., for believers) on the Day of Resurrection. Thus/ This/ is how We explain the Signs in detail for people who know/ who understand/ who have knowledge/ of knowledge.

33. قُلْ إِنَّمَا حَرَّمَ رَبِّيَ الْفَوَاحِشَ مَا ظَهَرَ مِنْهَا وَمَا بَطَنَ وَالْإِثْمَ وَالْبَغْيَ بِغَيْرِ الْحَقِّ وَأَنْ تُشْرِكُوا بِاللَّهِ مَا لَمْ يُنَزِّلْ بِهِ سُلْطَانًا وَأَنْ تَقُولُوا عَلَى اللَّهِ مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ
Qul Innamā Ĥarrama Rabbiya Al-Fawāĥisha Žahara Minhā Wa Mā Baţana Wa Al-‘Ithma Wa Al-Baghya Bighayri Al-Ĥaqqi Wa ‘An Tushrikū Bil-Lahi Lam Yunazzil Bihi Sulţānāan Wa ‘An Taqūlū `Alá Al-Lahi Ta`lamūna
7:33 Say, “my Lord has only forbidden the shameful deeds what is apparent/open of it and what is concealed/ hidden/ secret, and the sin, and the oppression without the ˹due˺ right/ the right ˹to do so˺, and that you associate ˹others˺ with Allah ˹in worship˺ that for which He ˹Allah˺ has/did not sent down any authority, and that you say about Allah what you do not know?”
33. Qul innamaa harrama Rabbiyal fawaahisha maa zahara minhaa wa maa batana wal isma walbaghya bighairil haqqi wa an tushrikoo billaahi maa lam yunazzil bihee sultaananw wa an taqooloo ‘alal laahi maa laa ta’lamoon
34. وَلِكُلِّ أُمَّةٍ أَجَلٌ ۖ فَإِذَا جَاءَ أَجَلُهُمْ لَا يَسْتَأْخِرُونَ سَاعَةً ۖ وَلَا يَسْتَقْدِمُونَ
Wa LikulliUmmatin Ajalun Fa’idhā Jā’a Ajaluhum Yasta’khirūna Sā`atan Wa Lā Yastaqdimūna
7:34 And for every nation ˹there is a fixed/ an appointed˺ term. So when their term comes, neither can they delay it an hour, and nor can they advance (i.e., rush) it ˹an hour˺.
34. Wa likulli ummatin ajalun fa izaa jaaa’a ajaluhum laa yasta’ khiroona saa’atanw wa laa yastaqdimoon
35. يَا بَنِي آدَمَ إِمَّا يَأْتِيَنَّكُمْ رُسُلٌ مِنْكُمْ يَقُصُّونَ عَلَيْكُمْ آيَاتِي ۙ فَمَنِ اتَّقَىٰ وَأَصْلَحَ فَلَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ
Yā Banī ‘Ādama ‘Immā Ya’tiyannakum Rusulun Minkum Yaquşşūna `Alaykum Āyā Tī Famani Attaqá Wa ‘Aşlaĥa Falā Khawfun `Alayhim Wa Lā Hum Yaĥzanūna
7:35 O Children of Adam! If Messengers from among you come to you relating/ reciting/ narrating to you My Verses, then whoever fears Allah, and reforms/ and correct themselves, then there will be no fear on them and nor will they grieve.
35. Yaa Banee Aadama immaa ya’tiyannakum Rusulum minkum yaqussoona ‘alaikum Aayaatee famanit taqaa wa aslaha falaa khawfun ‘alaihim wa laa hum yahzanoon
36. وَالَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا وَاسْتَكْبَرُوا عَنْهَا أُولَٰئِكَ أَصْحَابُ النَّارِ ۖ هُمْ فِيهَا خَالِدُونَ
Wa Al-Ladhīna Kadhdhabū Bi’āyātinā Wa Astakbarū `Anhā Ūlā’ikaAşĥābu An-Nāri Hum Fīhā Khālidūna
7:36 But those who deny/ reject Our Verses and are arrogant towards them, those are the companions of the Fire, they will stay/ remain in it forever.
36. Wallazeena kazzaboo bi Aayaatinaa wastakbaroo ‘an haaa ulaaa’ika Ashaabun naari hum feehaa khaalidoon
37. فَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّنِ افْتَرَىٰ عَلَى اللَّهِ كَذِبًا أَوْ كَذَّبَ بِآيَاتِهِ ۚ أُولَٰئِكَ يَنَالُهُمْ نَصِيبُهُمْ مِنَ الْكِتَابِ ۖ حَتَّىٰ إِذَا جَاءَتْهُمْ رُسُلُنَا يَتَوَفَّوْنَهُمْ قَالُوا أَيْنَ مَا كُنْتُمْ تَدْعُونَ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ ۖ قَالُوا ضَلُّوا عَنَّا وَشَهِدُوا عَلَىٰ أَنْفُسِهِمْ أَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا كَافِرِينَ
Faman Ažlamu Mimmani Aftará `Alá Al-Lahi Kadhibāan Aw Kadhdhaba Bi’āyātihi ‘Ūlā’ika Yanāluhum Naşībuhum Mina Al-Kitābi Ĥattá Idhā Jā’at/hum Rusulunā Yatawaffawnahum Qālū Ayna Kuntum Tad`ūna Min Dūni Al-Lahi Qālū Đallū `Annā Wa Shahidū `AláAnfusihim Annahum Kānū Kāfirīna
7:37 Then who is more unjust/ wrong than those/one who invent/ed/s a lie against Allah or denies His Verses? Those will reach them/ have/ obtain/ attain their share from the Book ˹of Decree˺ until when Our messengers ˹Angels˺ comes to them to take them in death, they ˹the Angels˺ will say,Where are those ˹whom˺ you used to invoke/call on from besides Allah?” They will say, They have strayed/departed from us,” and they will testify/ bear witness against themselves that they were disbelievers.
37. Faman azlamu mimmanif taraa ‘alal laahi kaziban aw kazzaba bi Aayaatih; ulaaa’ika yanaaluhum naseebuhum minal Kitaab; hatta izaa jaaa’at hum rusulunaa yatawaf fawnahum qaalooo aina maa kuntum tad’oonaa min doonil laahi qaaloo dalloo ‘annaa wa shahidoo ‘alaaa anfusihim annahum kaanoo kaafireen
38. قَالَ ادْخُلُوا فِي أُمَمٍ قَدْ خَلَتْ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ مِنَ الْجِنِّ وَالْإِنْسِ فِي النَّارِ ۖ كُلَّمَا دَخَلَتْ أُمَّةٌ لَعَنَتْ أُخْتَهَا ۖ حَتَّىٰ إِذَا ادَّارَكُوا فِيهَا جَمِيعًا قَالَتْ أُخْرَاهُمْ لِأُولَاهُمْ رَبَّنَا هَٰؤُلَاءِ أَضَلُّونَا فَآتِهِمْ عَذَابًا ضِعْفًا مِنَ النَّارِ ۖ قَالَ لِكُلٍّ ضِعْفٌ وَلَٰكِنْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَ
Qāla Adkhulū Umamin Qad Khalat Min Qablikum Mina Al-Jinni Wa Al-‘Insi An-Nāri Kullamā Dakhalat Ummatun La`anatUkhtahā Ĥattá ‘Idhā Addārakū Fīhā Jamī`āan QālatUkhrāhum Li’wlāhum Rabbanā Hā’uulā’Ađallūnā Fa’ātihim `Adhābāan Đi`fāan Mina An-Nāri Qāla Likullin Đi`fun Wa Lakin Ta`lamūna
7:38 He ˹Allah˺ will say, “Enter among/with the ˹evil˺ nations who/ which had/ that certainly passed away from before you of the jinn and the men in/ into the Fire. Every time a nation enters ˹the Fire˺ it will curse its sister ˹nation that went before˺ until when they have/are all gathered/ overtaken one another in it, the last of them (i.e., later generations/nations) will say about the first of them (i.e., earlier/former generations/nations), “Our Lord, these ˹are who˺ (i.e., former or earlier nations) had misled us, so give them double punishment of the Fire.” He will say, “For each there is a double ˹punishment˺ but you do not know.”

Enter in the Fire with the ˹evil˺ nations of the jinn and the men/humans/ human beings who/ which had/ that certainly passed on from before you.” *******Selected

7:38 He ˹Allah˺ will say,Enter among the nations (who) passed away from before you of the jinn and the men in the Fire. Every time entered a nation it cursed its sister (nation) until when they had overtaken one another in it all, (will) say (the) last of them about the first of them,Our Lord, these misled us so give them punishment double of the Fire.” He (will) say,For each (is) a double [and] but not you know.
38. Qaalad khuloo feee umamin qad khalat min qablikum minal jinni wal insi fin naari kullamaa dakhalat ummatul la’anat ukhtahaa hattaaa izad daarakoo feehaa jamee’an qaalat ukhraahum li oolaahum Rabbannaa haaa u’laaa’i adalloonaa fa aatihim ‘azaaban di’fam minan naari qaala likullin di’funw wa laakil laa ta’lamoon
39. وَقَالَتْ أُولَاهُمْ لِأُخْرَاهُمْ فَمَا كَانَ لَكُمْ عَلَيْنَا مِنْ فَضْلٍ فَذُوقُوا الْعَذَابَ بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَكْسِبُونَ
Wa QālatŪlāhum Li’khrāhum Famā Kāna Lakum `Alaynā Min Fađlin Fadhūqū Al-`Adhāba Bimā Kuntum Taksibūna
7:39 And the first of them will say to the last of them, “Then there is not any superiority for you upon us, so taste the punishment for what you used to earn.”
39. Wa qaalat oolaahum li ukhraahum famaa kaana lakum ‘alainaa min fadlin fazooqul azaaba bimaa kuntum taksiboon (section 4)
40. إِنَّ الَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا وَاسْتَكْبَرُوا عَنْهَا لَا تُفَتَّحُ لَهُمْ أَبْوَابُ السَّمَاءِ وَلَا يَدْخُلُونَ الْجَنَّةَ حَتَّىٰ يَلِجَ الْجَمَلُ فِي سَمِّ الْخِيَاطِ ۚ وَكَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُجْرِمِينَ
‘Inna Al-Ladhīna Kadhdhabū Bi’āyātinā Wa Astakbarū `Anhā Tufattaĥu Lahum Abwābu As-Samā’i Wa Lā Yadkhulūna Al-Jannata Ĥattá Yalija Al-Jamalu Sammi Al-Khiyāţi Wa Kadhalika Najzī Al-Mujrimīna
7:40 Indeed, those who denied Our Verses and ˹are/were/show˺ arrogant towards them, the doors of the heaven will not be opened for them, and they will not enter Paradise until the camel passes through the eye of the needle. And thus/ that/ this is how We recompense the criminals.
40. Innal lazeena kazzaboo bi Aayaatinaa wastakbaroo ‘anhaa laa tufattahu lahum abwaabus samaaa’i wa laa yadkhuloonal jannata hattaa yalijal jamalu fee sammil khiyaat; wa kazaalika najzil mujrimeen
41. لَهُمْ مِنْ جَهَنَّمَ مِهَادٌ وَمِنْ فَوْقِهِمْ غَوَاشٍ ۚ وَكَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِي الظَّالِمِينَ
Lahum Min Jahannama Mihādun Wa Min Fawqihim Ghawāshin Wa Kadhalika Najzī Až-Žālimīna
7:41 They will have from Hell a bed and from over them coverings ˹of it/ of Fire/ Hell˺. And thus/ that/ this is how We recompense the wrongdoers.

7:41 For them of (the) Hell (is) a bed and from over them coverings. And thus/ that/ this is how We recompense the wrongdoers.

7:41 For them there is/will be a bed of the Hell and coverings from above them. And thus/ that/ this is how We recompense the wrongdoers.
41. Lahum min jahannama mihaadunw wa min fawqihim ghawaash; wa kazaalika najziz zaalimeen
42. وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ لَا نُكَلِّفُ نَفْسًا إِلَّا وُسْعَهَا أُولَٰئِكَ أَصْحَابُ الْجَنَّةِ ۖ هُمْ فِيهَا خَالِدُونَ
Wa Al-LadhīnaĀmanū Wa `Amilū Aş-Şāliĥāti Nukallifu Nafsāan ‘Illā Wus`ahā ‘Ūlā’ika ‘Aşĥābu Al-Jannati Hum Fīhā Khālidūna
7:42 But those who believe and do the righteous deedsWe do not burden any soul except ˹to/beyond/within˺ its capacity. Those are the companions of Paradise, they will stay in it forever.
42. Wallazeena aamanoo wa ‘amilus saalihaati laa nukallifu nafsan illaa wus’ahaaa ulaaa’ika Ashaabul jannati hum feehaa khaalidoon
43. وَنَزَعْنَا مَا فِي صُدُورِهِمْ مِنْ غِلٍّ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهِمُ الْأَنْهَارُ ۖ وَقَالُوا الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي هَدَانَا لِهَٰذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لِنَهْتَدِيَ لَوْلَا أَنْ هَدَانَا اللَّهُ ۖ لَقَدْ جَاءَتْ رُسُلُ رَبِّنَا بِالْحَقِّ ۖ وَنُودُوا أَنْ تِلْكُمُ الْجَنَّةُ أُورِثْتُمُوهَا بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
Wa Naza`nā Şudūrihim Min Ghillin Tajrī Min Taĥtihimu Al-‘Anhāru Wa Qālū Al-Ĥamdu Lillahi Al-Ladhī Hadānā Lihadhā Wa Mā Kunnā Linahtadiya Lawlā ‘An Hadānā Al-Lahu Laqad Jā’at Rusulu Rabbinā Bil-Ĥaqqi Wa Nūdū ‘An Tilkumu Al-JannatuŪrithtumūhā Bimā Kuntum Ta`malūna
7:43 And We will remove whatever of malice/ bitterness/ ill feeling/  is in/ within their chests. The rivers will flow from underneath them. And they will say, “All the praise is for Allah, the One Who guided us to this, and not we were to receive guidance if not [that] (had) guided us Allah. Certainly, Messengers of our Lord came/ had come with the truth.And they will be addressed, that This is the Paradise, you have been made to inherit it/ you are made to inherit for what you used to do.

and we would have not received guidance if that Allah had not guided us! *******Selected

and we would have not received guidance that if Allah had not guided us.

and we would not to receive guidance if not [that] (had) guided us Allah.
43. Wa naza’naa maa fee sudoorihim min ghillin tajree min tahtihimul anhaaru wa qaalul hamdu lillaahil lazee hadaanaa lihaaza wa maa kunna linahtadiya law laaa ann hadaanal laahu laqad jaaa’at Rusulu Rabbinaa bilhaqq; wa noodoo an tilkumul jannnatu ooristumoohaa bimaa kuntum ta’maloon
44. وَنَادَىٰ أَصْحَابُ الْجَنَّةِ أَصْحَابَ النَّارِ أَنْ قَدْ وَجَدْنَا مَا وَعَدَنَا رَبُّنَا حَقًّا فَهَلْ وَجَدْتُمْ مَا وَعَدَ رَبُّكُمْ حَقًّا ۖ قَالُوا نَعَمْ ۚ فَأَذَّنَ مُؤَذِّنٌ بَيْنَهُمْ أَنْ لَعْنَةُ اللَّهِ عَلَى الظَّالِمِينَ
Wa NādáAşĥābu Al-Jannati Aşĥāba An-Nāri ‘An Qad Wajadnā Wa`adanā Rabbunā Ĥaqqāan Fahal Wajadtum Wa`ada Rabbukum Ĥaqqāan Qālū Na`am Fa’adhdhana Mu’uadhdhinun Baynahum An La`natu Al-Lahi `Alá Až-Žālimīna
7:44 And the companions of Paradise will call out to the companions of the Fire that, “Indeed, we found what our Lord had promised us to be true. So have you ˹too˺ found what your Lord promised to be true?” They will say,Yes.” Then an announcer/ a caller will announce between them, that “The curse of Allah is on the wrongdoers,
44. Wa naadaa Ashaabul jannati ashaaban Naari an qad wajadnaa maa wa’adannaa Rabbunaa haqqan fahal wajattum maa wa’ada Rabbukum haqqan qaaloo na’am; fa azzana mu’azzinum bainahum al la’natul laahi ‘alaz zaalimeen
45. الَّذِينَ يَصُدُّونَ عَنْ سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ وَيَبْغُونَهَا عِوَجًا وَهُمْ بِالْآخِرَةِ كَافِرُونَ
Al-Ladhīna Yaşuddūna `An Sabīli Al-Lahi Wa Yabghūnahā `Iwajāan Wa Hum Bil-‘Ākhirati Kāfirūna
7:45 Those who hinder/ turn away/ prevent/ obstruct from the way of Allah and seek to make it ˹appear˺ crooked while they are disbelievers concerning the Hereafter.”
45. Allazeena yasuddoona ‘an sabeelil laahi wa yabghoo nahaa ‘iwajanw wa hum bil Aakhirati kaafiroon
46. وَبَيْنَهُمَا حِجَابٌ ۚ وَعَلَى الْأَعْرَافِ رِجَالٌ يَعْرِفُونَ كُلًّا بِسِيمَاهُمْ ۚ وَنَادَوْا أَصْحَابَ الْجَنَّةِ أَنْ سَلَامٌ عَلَيْكُمْ ۚ لَمْ يَدْخُلُوهَا وَهُمْ يَطْمَعُونَ
Wa Baynahumā Ĥijābun Wa `Alá Al-‘A`rāfi Rijālun Ya`rifūna Kullāan Bisīmāhum Wa NādawAşĥāba Al-Jannati ‘An Salāmun `Alaykum Lam Yadkhulūhā Wa Hum Yaţma`ūna
7:46 And between them (i.e., companions of Paradise and Hell) will be a partition, and on the heights will be people recognizing all (companions of Paradise and Hell) by their marks. And they (i.e., people on heights) will call out to the companions of Paradise that Peace be upon you.” they (i.e., people on heights) have not entered it (i.e., Paradise) but they hope to.
46. Wa bainahumaa hijaab; wa ‘alal A’raafi rijaaluny ya’rifoona kullam biseemaahum; wa naadaw Ashaabal jannati an salaamun ‘alaikum; lam yadkhuloohaa wa hum yatma’oon
47. وَإِذَا صُرِفَتْ أَبْصَارُهُمْ تِلْقَاءَ أَصْحَابِ النَّارِ قَالُوا رَبَّنَا لَا تَجْعَلْنَا مَعَ الْقَوْمِ الظَّالِمِينَ
Wa ‘Idhā Şurifat Abşāruhum Tilqā’aAşĥābi An-Nāri Qālū Rabbanā Taj`alnā Ma`a Al-Qawmi Až-Žālimīna
7:47 And when their eyes are turned towards the companions of the Fire, they will say,Our Lord! Do not place us with the wrongdoing people.”
47. Wa izaa surifat absaaruhum tilqaaa’a Ashaabin Naari qaaloo Rabbanaa laa taj’alnaa ma’al qawmiz zaalimeen (section 5)
48. وَنَادَىٰ أَصْحَابُ الْأَعْرَافِ رِجَالًا يَعْرِفُونَهُمْ بِسِيمَاهُمْ قَالُوا مَا أَغْنَىٰ عَنْكُمْ جَمْعُكُمْ وَمَا كُنْتُمْ تَسْتَكْبِرُونَ
Wa NādáAşĥābu Al-‘A`rāfi Rijālāan Ya`rifūnahum Bisīmāhum Qālū Aghná `Ankum Jam`ukum Wa Mā Kuntum Tastakbirūna
7:48 And the companions of/on the heights will call out to men ˹in Hell˺ whom they recognize by their marks saying, “Not (has) availed [to] you your gathering and what you were arrogant (about).”

What benefit to you were/ was your gathering and what you were arrogant about/for.”

“Of no benefit to you were/ was your gathering and what you were arrogant about/for.”
48. Wa naadaaa Ashaabul a’raafi rijaalany ya’rifoonahum biseemaahum qaaloo maaa aghnaa ‘ankum jam’ukum wa maa kuntum tastakbiroon
49. أَهَٰؤُلَاءِ الَّذِينَ أَقْسَمْتُمْ لَا يَنَالُهُمُ اللَّهُ بِرَحْمَةٍ ۚ ادْخُلُوا الْجَنَّةَ لَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْكُمْ وَلَا أَنْتُمْ تَحْزَنُونَ
‘Ahā’uulāAl-LadhīnaAqsamtum Yanāluhumu Al-Lahu Biraĥmatin Adkhulū Al-Jannata Khawfun `Alaykum Wa Lā Antum Taĥzanūna
7:49 Are these the ones whom you had sworn that Allah will not grant them Mercy? “Enter Paradise. There will be no fear upon you and nor will you grieve.” 

Commentary Notes: “This verse is between Allah and People of Hell and people of Heights will be told to enter paradise”
49. A haaa’ulaaa’il lazeena aqsamtum laa yanaaluhumul laahu bi rahmah; udkhulul Jannata laa khawfun ‘alaikum wa laaa antum tahzanoon
50. وَنَادَىٰ أَصْحَابُ النَّارِ أَصْحَابَ الْجَنَّةِ أَنْ أَفِيضُوا عَلَيْنَا مِنَ الْمَاءِ أَوْ مِمَّا رَزَقَكُمُ اللَّهُ ۚ قَالُوا إِنَّ اللَّهَ حَرَّمَهُمَا عَلَى الْكَافِرِينَ
Wa Nādá Aşĥābu An-Nāri Aşĥāba Al-Jannati ‘An ‘Afīđū `Alaynā Mina Al-Mā’i ‘Aw Mimmā Razaqakumu Al-Lahu Qālū Inna Al-Laha Ĥarramahumā `Alá Al-Kāfirīna
7:50 And the companions of the Fire will call out to the companions of the Paradise that, “Pour upon us some of the water or of what Allah has provided you.They (i.e., companian of Paradise) will say,Indeed, Allah has forbidden both to the disbelievers,
50. Wa naadaaa Ashaabun Naari Ashaabal jannati an afeedoo ‘alainaa minal maaa’i aw mimma razaqakumul laah; qaaloo innal laaha harrama humaa ‘alal kaafireen

51-100

51. الَّذِينَ اتَّخَذُوا دِينَهُمْ لَهْوًا وَلَعِبًا وَغَرَّتْهُمُ الْحَيَاةُ الدُّنْيَا ۚ فَالْيَوْمَ نَنْسَاهُمْ كَمَا نَسُوا لِقَاءَ يَوْمِهِمْ هَٰذَا وَمَا كَانُوا بِآيَاتِنَا يَجْحَدُونَ
Al-Ladhīna Attakhadhū Dīnahum Lahwan Wa La`ibāan Wa Gharrat/humu Al-Ĥayāatu Ad-Dunyā Fālyawma Nansāhum Kamā Nasū Liqā’a Yawmihim Hādhā Wa Mā Kānū Bi’āyātinā Yajĥadūna
7:51 Those who took their religion as an amusement/ a pastime and play and the life of the world deluded/deceived them.So today will We forget/ignore them as they forgot/ignored the meeting/coming of this Day of theirs, and what as they used to reject Our Verses.

51. Allazeenat takhazoo deenahum lahwanw wa la’i-banw wa gharrat humul hayaatud dunyaa; fal Yawma nannsaahum kamaa nasoo liqaaa’a Yawmihim haazaa wa maa kaanoo bi aayaatinaa yajhadoon
52. وَلَقَدْ جِئْنَاهُمْ بِكِتَابٍ فَصَّلْنَاهُ عَلَىٰ عِلْمٍ هُدًى وَرَحْمَةً لِقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ
Wa Laqad Ji’nāhum Bikitābin Faşşalnāhu `Alá `Ilmin Hudáan Wa Raĥmatan Liqawmin Yu’uminūna
7:52 And We had certainly brought them a Book which We have explained with knowledge a guidance and mercy for a people who believe.
52. Wa laqad ji’naahum bi Kitaabin fassalnaahu ‘alaa ‘ilmin hudanw wa rahmatal liqawminy-yu’minoon
53. هَلْ يَنْظُرُونَ إِلَّا تَأْوِيلَهُ ۚ يَوْمَ يَأْتِي تَأْوِيلُهُ يَقُولُ الَّذِينَ نَسُوهُ مِنْ قَبْلُ قَدْ جَاءَتْ رُسُلُ رَبِّنَا بِالْحَقِّ فَهَلْ لَنَا مِنْ شُفَعَاءَ فَيَشْفَعُوا لَنَا أَوْ نُرَدُّ فَنَعْمَلَ غَيْرَ الَّذِي كُنَّا نَعْمَلُ ۚ قَدْ خَسِرُوا أَنْفُسَهُمْ وَضَلَّ عَنْهُمْ مَا كَانُوا يَفْتَرُونَ
Hal Yanžurūna ‘Illā Ta’wīlahu Yawma Ya’tī Ta’wīluhu Yaqūlu Al-Ladhīna Nasūhu Min Qablu Qad Jā’at Rusulu Rabbinā Bil-Ĥaqqi Fahal Lanā Min Shufa`ā’a Fayashfa`ū LanāAw Nuraddu Fana`mala Ghayra Al-Ladhī Kunnā Na`malu Qad Khasirū Anfusahum Wa Đalla `Anhum Kānū Yaftarūna
7:53 Do they wait except for its fulfillment? The Day its fulfillment will come, those who had forgotten it from before will say, “Verily the Messengers of our Lord had come with the truth, so are there any intercessors for us so that they might/may intercede for us or we are sent back so that we do ˹deeds˺ other than that which we used to do.” Verily, they will have lost themselves, and whatever they used to invent has/ will have strayed/ gone away/ vanished/ disappeared from them.
53. Hal yanzuroona illaa ta’weelah; yawma ya’tee ta’weeluhoo yaqoolul lazeena nasoohu min qablu qad jaaa’at Rusulu Rabbinaa bilhaqq; fahal lanaa min shufa’aaa’a fa yashfa’oo lanaaa aw nuraddu fana’mala ghairal lazee kunnaa na’mal; qad khasirooo anfusahum wa dalla ‘anhum maa kaanoo yaftaroon (section 6)
54. إِنَّ رَبَّكُمُ اللَّهُ الَّذِي خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ فِي سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٍ ثُمَّ اسْتَوَىٰ عَلَى الْعَرْشِ يُغْشِي اللَّيْلَ النَّهَارَ يَطْلُبُهُ حَثِيثًا وَالشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ وَالنُّجُومَ مُسَخَّرَاتٍ بِأَمْرِهِ ۗ أَلَا لَهُ الْخَلْقُ وَالْأَمْرُ ۗ تَبَارَكَ اللَّهُ رَبُّ الْعَالَمِينَ
Inna Rabbakumu Al-Lahu Al-Ladhī Khalaqa As-Samāwāti Wa Al-‘Arđa Sittati Ayyāmin Thumma Astawá `Alá Al-`Arshi Yughshī Al-Layla An-Nahāra Yaţlubuhu Ĥathīthāan Wa Ash-Shamsa Wa Al-Qamara Wa An-Nujūma Musakhkharātin Bi’amrihi ‘Alā Lahu Al-Khalqu Wa Al-‘Amru Tabāraka Al-Lahu Rabbu Al-`Ālamīna
7:54 Indeed, your Lord is Allah, the One Who created the heavens and the earth in six days, then He ascended/ established Himself on the Throne. He covers the night with the day, seeking/pursues it rapidly/swiftly, and the sun and the moon and the stars subjected by His command. Unquestionably for Him/ to Him belongs the creation and the command. Blessed/ Exalted is Allah, Lord of the worlds.
54. Inna Rabbakumul laahul lazee khalaqas samaawaati wal arda fee sittati ayyaamin summas tawaa ‘alal ‘arshi yughshil lailan nahaara yatlu buhoo haseesanw washshamsa walqamara wannujooma musakharaatim bi amrih; alaa lahul khalqu wal-amr; tabaarakal laahu Rabbul ‘aalameen
55. ادْعُوا رَبَّكُمْ تَضَرُّعًا وَخُفْيَةً ۚ إِنَّهُ لَا يُحِبُّ الْمُعْتَدِينَ
Ad`ū Rabbakum Tađarru`āan Wa Khufyatan Innahu Yuĥibbu Al-Mu`tadīna
7:55 Call upon your Lord humbly and privately. Indeed, He does not love the transgressors.
55. Ud’oo Rabbakum tadarru’anw wa khufyah; innahoo laa yuhibbul mu’tadeen
56. وَلَا تُفْسِدُوا فِي الْأَرْضِ بَعْدَ إِصْلَاحِهَا وَادْعُوهُ خَوْفًا وَطَمَعًا ۚ إِنَّ رَحْمَتَ اللَّهِ قَرِيبٌ مِنَ الْمُحْسِنِينَ
Wa Lā Tufsidū Al-‘Arđi Ba`da ‘Işlāĥihā Wa Ad`ūhu Khawfāan Wa Ţama`āan ‘Inna Raĥmata Al-Lahi Qarībun Mina Al-Muĥsinīna
7:56 And do not cause corruption in the earth after its reformation/ it has been set in order. And call Him in fear and hope. Indeed, the Mercy of Allah is near/ close* for the good-doers.
56. Wa laa tufsidoo fil ardi ba’da islaahihaa wad’oohu khawfanw wa tama’aa; inna rahmatal laahi qareebum minal muhsineen
57. وَهُوَ الَّذِي يُرْسِلُ الرِّيَاحَ بُشْرًا بَيْنَ يَدَيْ رَحْمَتِهِ ۖ حَتَّىٰ إِذَا أَقَلَّتْ سَحَابًا ثِقَالًا سُقْنَاهُ لِبَلَدٍ مَيِّتٍ فَأَنْزَلْنَا بِهِ الْمَاءَ فَأَخْرَجْنَا بِهِ مِنْ كُلِّ الثَّمَرَاتِ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ نُخْرِجُ الْمَوْتَىٰ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَذَكَّرُونَ
Wa Huwa Al-Ladhī Yursilu Ar-Riyāĥa Bushrāan Bayna Yaday Raĥmatihi Ĥattá Idhā Aqallat Saĥābāan Thiqālāan Suqnāhu Libaladin Mayyitin Fa’anzalnā Bihi Al-Mā’a Fa’akhrajnā Bihi Min Kulli Ath-Thamarāti Kadhālika Nukhriju Al-Mawtá La`allakum Tadhakkarūna
7:57 And He is the One Who sends the winds as good news between his mercy Mercy, until, when they have carried heavy clouds, We drive them to a dead land then/and We send down the water from it then We bring forth from it of all the fruits. Thus/ Similarly, We will bring forth/out the dead, so that you may take heed/ be reminded/ be mindful*.

57. Wa Huwal lazee yursilur riyaaha bushram baina yadai rahmatihee hattaaa izaaa aqallat sahaaban siqaalan suqnaahu libaladim maiyitin fa annzalnaa bihil maaa’a fa akhrajnaa bihee minn kullis samaraat; kazaalika nukhrijul mawtaa la’allakum tazakkaroon
58. وَالْبَلَدُ الطَّيِّبُ يَخْرُجُ نَبَاتُهُ بِإِذْنِ رَبِّهِ ۖ وَالَّذِي خَبُثَ لَا يَخْرُجُ إِلَّا نَكِدًا ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ نُصَرِّفُ الْآيَاتِ لِقَوْمٍ يَشْكُرُونَ
Wa Al-Baladu Aţ-Ţayyibu Yakhruju Nabātuhu Bi’idhni Rabbihi Wa Al-Ladhī Khabutha Yakhruju ‘Illā Nakidāan Kadhālika Nuşarrifu Al-‘Āyāti Liqawmin Yashkurūna
7:58 And the pure land, its vegetation comes out by the permission of its Lord, and that (land) which is badnothing come/s out except a little with difficulty/ a little/ of no benefit. Thus/ This is how We explain the Signs for a people who are grateful/ thankful.
58. Walbaladut taiyibu yakhruju nabaatuhoo bi-izni Rabbihee wallazee khabusa laa yakhruju illaa nakidaa; kazaalika nusarriful Aayaati liqawminy yashkuroon (section 7)
59. لَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحًا إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِ فَقَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مَا لَكُمْ مِنْ إِلَٰهٍ غَيْرُهُ إِنِّي أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ
Laqad Arsalnā Nūĥāan ‘Ilá Qawmihi Faqāla Yā Qawmi A`budū Al-Laha Lakum MinIlahin Ghayruhu Innī Akhāfu `Alaykum `Adhāba Yawmin `Ažīmin
7:59 Certainly, We sent Noah ˹Nuh˺ to his people and he (i.e., Noah) said, “O my people! Worship Allah, you have no god from other than Him. Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of the Great Day.”

not for you any god other than Him.
59. Laqad arsalnaa noohan ilaa qawmihee faqaala yaa qawmi’ budul laaha maa lakum min ilaahin ghairuhoo inneee akhaafu ‘alaikum ‘azaaba Yawmin ‘Azeem
60. قَالَ الْمَلَأُ مِنْ قَوْمِهِ إِنَّا لَنَرَاكَ فِي ضَلَالٍ مُبِينٍ
Qāla Al-Mala‘u Min Qawmihi ‘Innā Lanarāka Đalālin Mubīnin
7:60 the chiefs of his people said, “Indeed, we surely see you in clear error.”
60. Qaalal mala-u min qaw miheee innaa lanaraaka fee dalaalim mubeen
61. قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ لَيْسَ بِي ضَلَالَةٌ وَلَٰكِنِّي رَسُولٌ مِنْ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ
Qāla Yā Qawmi Laysa Đalālatun Wa Lakinnī Rasūlun Min Rabbi Al-`Ālamīna
7:61 He ˹Noah˺ said, “O my people! There is no error in me, but I am a Messenger from the Lord of the worlds.
61. Qaala yaa qawmi laisa bee dalaalatunw wa laakinnee Rasoolum mir Rabbil ‘aalameen
62. أُبَلِّغُكُمْ رِسَالَاتِ رَبِّي وَأَنْصَحُ لَكُمْ وَأَعْلَمُ مِنَ اللَّهِ مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ
Uballighukum Risālāti Rabbī Wa ‘Anşaĥu Lakum Wa ‘A`lamu Mina Al-Lahi Ta`lamūna
7:62 I convey to you the Messages of my Lord and I advise to you, and I know from Allah what you do not know.
62. Uballighukum Risaalaati Rabbee wa ansahu lakum wa a’lamu minal laahi maa laa ta’lamoon
63. أَوَعَجِبْتُمْ أَنْ جَاءَكُمْ ذِكْرٌ مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ عَلَىٰ رَجُلٍ مِنْكُمْ لِيُنْذِرَكُمْ وَلِتَتَّقُوا وَلَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ
‘Awa`ajibtum ‘An Jā’akum Dhikrun Min Rabbikum `Alá Rajulin Minkum Liyundhirakum Wa Litattaqū Wa La`allakum Turĥamūna
7:63 Do you wonder/ Do you find it strange that a reminder has come to you from your Lord on/through/to a man from among you, that he may warn you and that you may fear ˹Allah˺, and so that you may receive ˹His˺ mercy/ be shown mercy.”
63. Awa ‘ajibtum an jaaa’akum zikrum mir Rabbikum ‘alaa rajulim minkum liyunzirakum wa litattaqoo wa la’allakum turhamoon
64. فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَنْجَيْنَاهُ وَالَّذِينَ مَعَهُ فِي الْفُلْكِ وَأَغْرَقْنَا الَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا ۚ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا قَوْمًا عَمِينَ
Fakadhdhabūhu Fa’anjaynāhu Wa Al-Ladhīna Ma`ahu Al-Fulki Wa ‘Aghraqnā Al-Ladhīna Kadhdhabū Bi’āyātinā Innahum Kānū Qawmāan `Amīna
7:64 But they denied/ rejected him, so We saved him and those who were with him in the ship (i.e., ark). And We drowned those who denied/ rejected Our Verses. Indeed, they were blind people/ a blind people.
64. Fakazzaboohu fa anjai naahu wallazeena ma’ahoo fil fulki wa aghraqnal lazeena kazzaboo bi Aayaatinaa; innahum kaanoo qawman ‘ameen (section 8)
65. وَإِلَىٰ عَادٍ أَخَاهُمْ هُودًا ۗ قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مَا لَكُمْ مِنْ إِلَٰهٍ غَيْرُهُ ۚ أَفَلَا تَتَّقُونَ
Wa ‘Ilá `Ādin Akhāhum Hūdāan Qāla Yā Qawmi A`budū Al-Laha Lakum Min ‘Ilahin Ghayruhu Afalā Tattaqūna
7:65 And to ˹people of˺ ’Âd ˹We sent˺ their brother Hûd. He said, O my people! Worship Allah, you have no god from other than Him. Then will you not fear ˹Allah˺?”
65. Wa ilaa ‘aadin akhaahum Hoodaa; qaala yaa qawmi’ budul laaha maa lakum min ilaahin ghairuh; afalaa tattaqoon
66. قَالَ الْمَلَأُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِنْ قَوْمِهِ إِنَّا لَنَرَاكَ فِي سَفَاهَةٍ وَإِنَّا لَنَظُنُّكَ مِنَ الْكَاذِبِينَ
Qāla Al-Mala’u Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Min Qawmihi Innā lanarāka Safāhatin Wa ‘Innā Lanažunnuka Mina Al-Kādhibīna
7:66 the chiefs of those who disbelieved from his people said,Indeed, we surely see you in foolishness and indeed, we think you are of the liars.”
66. Qaalal mala ul lazeena kafaroo min qawmiheee innaa lanaraaka fee safaahatinw wa innaa la nazunnuka minal kaazibeen
67. قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ لَيْسَ بِي سَفَاهَةٌ وَلَٰكِنِّي رَسُولٌ مِنْ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ
Qāla Yā Qawmi Laysa Safāhatun Wa Lakinnī Rasūlun Min Rabbi Al-`Ālamīna
7:67 He ˹Hûd˺ said, “O my people! There is no foolishness in me, but I am a Messenger from the Lord of the worlds.
67. Qaala yaa qawmi laisa bee safaahatunw wa laakinnee Rasoolum mir Rabbil ‘aalameen
68. أُبَلِّغُكُمْ رِسَالَاتِ رَبِّي وَأَنَا لَكُمْ نَاصِحٌ أَمِينٌ
Uballighukum Risālāti Rabbī Wa ‘Anā Lakum Nāşiĥun Amīnun
7:68 I convey to you the Messages of my Lord and I am a trustworthy adviser to you.
68. Uballighukum Risaalaati Rabbee wa ana lakum naasihun ameen
69. أَوَعَجِبْتُمْ أَنْ جَاءَكُمْ ذِكْرٌ مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ عَلَىٰ رَجُلٍ مِنْكُمْ لِيُنْذِرَكُمْ ۚ وَاذْكُرُوا إِذْ جَعَلَكُمْ خُلَفَاءَ مِنْ بَعْدِ قَوْمِ نُوحٍ وَزَادَكُمْ فِي الْخَلْقِ بَسْطَةً ۖ فَاذْكُرُوا آلَاءَ اللَّهِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ
Awa`ajibtum An Jā’akum Dhikrun Min Rabbikum `Alá Rajulin Minkum Liyundhirakum Wa Adhkurū ‘Idh Ja`alakum Khulafā’a Min Ba`di Qawmi Nūĥin Wa Zādakum Al-Khalqi Basţatan Fādhkurū ‘Ālā’a Al-Lahi La`allakum Tufliĥūna
7:69 Do you wonder/ Do you find it strange that a reminder has come to you from your Lord on/to/through a man from among you, that he may warn you? And remember when He ˹Allah˺ made you successors from after the people of Noah ˹Nuh˺, and increased you extensively/ greatly in stature. So remember the Bounties of Allah, so that you may succeed.”
69. Awa ‘ajibtum an jaaa’akum zikrum mir Rabbikum ‘alaa rajulim minkum liyunzirakum; wazkurooo iz ja’alakum khulafaaa’a mim ba’di qawmi noohinw wa zaadakum filkhalqi bastatan fazkurooo aalaaa’al laahi la’allakum tuflihoon
70. قَالُوا أَجِئْتَنَا لِنَعْبُدَ اللَّهَ وَحْدَهُ وَنَذَرَ مَا كَانَ يَعْبُدُ آبَاؤُنَا ۖ فَأْتِنَا بِمَا تَعِدُنَا إِنْ كُنْتَ مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ
Qālū Aji’tanā Lina`buda Al-Laha Waĥdahu Wa Nadhara Kāna Ya`budu Ābā’uunā Fa’tinā Bimā Ta`idunā ‘In Kunta Mina Aş-Şādiqīna
7:70 They said, Have you come to us that we should worship Allah Alone and we forsake/ abandon/ leave what our forefathers used to worship? Then bring us of what/ that ˹punishment˺ which you promise us, if you are of the truthful.
70. Qaalooo aji’tanaa lina’budal laaha wahdahoo wa nazara maa kaana ya’budu aabaaa’unaa fa’tinaa bimaa ta’idunaaa in kunta minas saadiqeen
71. قَالَ قَدْ وَقَعَ عَلَيْكُمْ مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ رِجْسٌ وَغَضَبٌ ۖ أَتُجَادِلُونَنِي فِي أَسْمَاءٍ سَمَّيْتُمُوهَا أَنْتُمْ وَآبَاؤُكُمْ مَا نَزَّلَ اللَّهُ بِهَا مِنْ سُلْطَانٍ ۚ فَانْتَظِرُوا إِنِّي مَعَكُمْ مِنَ الْمُنْتَظِرِينَ
Qāla Qad Waqa`a `Alaykum Min Rabbikum Rijsun Wa GhađabunAtujādilūnanī ‘Asmā’in Sammaytumūhā Antum Wa ‘Ābā’uukum  Nazzala Al-Lahu Bihā Min Sulţānin Fāntažirū ‘Innī Ma`akum Mina Al-Muntažirīna

7:71 He ˹Hûd˺ said,Verily punishment and anger has already fallen upon you from your Lord. Do you dispute with me concerning names you have named themyou and your forefathers, for which Allah has not sent down any authority? Then wait, indeed, I am with you of/ among the ones who wait.
71. Qaala qad waqa’a alaikum mir Rabbikum rijsunw wa ghadab, atujaadiloonanee feee asmaaa’in sammaitumoohaaa antum wa aabaaa’ukum maa nazzalal laahu bihaa min sultaan; fantazirooo innee ma’akum minal muntazireen
72. فَأَنْجَيْنَاهُ وَالَّذِينَ مَعَهُ بِرَحْمَةٍ مِنَّا وَقَطَعْنَا دَابِرَ الَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا ۖ وَمَا كَانُوا مُؤْمِنِينَ
Fa’anjaynāhu Wa Al-Ladhīna Ma`ahu Biraĥmatin Minnā Wa Qaţa`nā Dābira Al-Ladhīna Kadhdhabū Bi’āyātinā Wa Mā Kānū Mu’uminīna
7:72 So We saved him and those with him by Mercy from Us. And We cut off the roots of those who denied/ rejected Our Signs, and they were not believers.
72. Fa anjainaahu wallazeena ma’ahoo birahmatim minnaa wa qata’naa daabiral lazeena kazzaboo bi Aayaatinaa wa maa kaanoo mu’mineen (section 9)
73. وَإِلَىٰ ثَمُودَ أَخَاهُمْ صَالِحًا ۗ قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مَا لَكُمْ مِنْ إِلَٰهٍ غَيْرُهُ ۖ قَدْ جَاءَتْكُمْ بَيِّنَةٌ مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ ۖ هَٰذِهِ نَاقَةُ اللَّهِ لَكُمْ آيَةً ۖ فَذَرُوهَا تَأْكُلْ فِي أَرْضِ اللَّهِ ۖ وَلَا تَمَسُّوهَا بِسُوءٍ فَيَأْخُذَكُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ
Wa ‘Ilá Thamūda Akhāhum Şāliĥāan Qāla Yā Qawmi A`budū Al-Laha Lakum Min Ilahin Ghayruhu Qad Jā’atkum Bayyinatun Min Rabbikum Hadhihi Nāqatu Al-Lahi Lakum Āyatan Fadharūhā Ta’kul Arđi Al-Lahi Wa Lā Tamassūhā Bisū’in Faya’khudhakum `Adhābun Alīmun
7:73 And to ˹the people of˺ Thamud We sent their brother Ṣâliḥ. He said,O my people! Worship Allah, you have no god from other than HimVerily a clear proof has come to you from your Lord, This is a she-camel of Allah a Sign for you. So you leave her to eat on the earth of Allah, and do not touch her with harm, lest seizes you/ or you will be struck/overcome by a painful punishment.”   / or a painful punishment will seize/ overcome you.
73. Wa ilaa Samooda akhaahum Saalihaa; qaala yaa qawmi’ budul laaha maa lakum min ilaahin ghairuhoo qad jaaa’atkum baiyinatum mir Rabbikum haazihee naaqatul laahi lakum Aayatan fazaroohaa ta’kul feee ardil laahi wa laa tamassoohaa bisooo’in fa ya’khuzakum ‘azaabun aleem
74. وَاذْكُرُوا إِذْ جَعَلَكُمْ خُلَفَاءَ مِنْ بَعْدِ عَادٍ وَبَوَّأَكُمْ فِي الْأَرْضِ تَتَّخِذُونَ مِنْ سُهُولِهَا قُصُورًا وَتَنْحِتُونَ الْجِبَالَ بُيُوتًا ۖ فَاذْكُرُوا آلَاءَ اللَّهِ وَلَا تَعْثَوْا فِي الْأَرْضِ مُفْسِدِينَ
Wa Adhkurū ‘Idh Ja`alakum Khulafā’a Min Ba`di `Ādin Wa Bawwa’akum Al-‘Arđi Tattakhidhūna Min Suhūlihā Quşūrāan Wa Tanĥitūna Al-Jibāla Buyūtāan Fādhkurū ‘Ālā’a Al-Lahi Wa Lā Ta`thaw Al-‘Arđi Mufsidīna
7:74 And remember when He ˹Allah˺ made you successors from after ’Âd, and settled you in the earth. You take/ built/ occupy palaces from its plains and you carve homes out of the mountains. So remember the Bounties/ Favours of Allah and do not act wickedly/ commit evil in the earth spreading corruption.
74. Wazkuroo iz ja’alakum khulafaaa’a mim ba’di ‘Aadinw wa bawwa akum fil ardi tattakhizoona min suhoolihaa qusooranw wa tanhitoonal jibaala buyootan fazkurooo aalaaa’al laahi wa laa ta’saw fil ardi mufsideen
75. قَالَ الْمَلَأُ الَّذِينَ اسْتَكْبَرُوا مِنْ قَوْمِهِ لِلَّذِينَ اسْتُضْعِفُوا لِمَنْ آمَنَ مِنْهُمْ أَتَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّ صَالِحًا مُرْسَلٌ مِنْ رَبِّهِ ۚ قَالُوا إِنَّا بِمَا أُرْسِلَ بِهِ مُؤْمِنُونَ
Qāla Al-Mala’u Al-Ladhīna Astakbarū Min Qawmihi Lilladhīna Astuđ`ifū Liman Āmana Minhum Ata`lamūnaAnna Şāliĥāan Mursalun Min Rabbihi Qālū Innā Bimā Ursila Bihi Mu’uminūna
7:75 the chiefs of those who were arrogant among his people said to those who were oppressedto those who believed among them, “Do you ˹really/ honestly˺ know that Ṣâliḥ is the one sent from his Lord?” They said,Indeed, we are believers in what he (i.e., Ṣâliḥ) has been sent with.”
75. Qaalal mala ul lazeenas takbaroo min qawmihee lillazeenas tud’ifoo liman aamana minhum ata’lamoona anna Saaliham mursalum mir Rabbih; qaalooo innaa bimaaa ursila bihee mu’minoon
76. قَالَ الَّذِينَ اسْتَكْبَرُوا إِنَّا بِالَّذِي آمَنْتُمْ بِهِ كَافِرُونَ
Qāla Al-Ladhīna Astakbarū ‘Innā Bial-LadhīĀmantum Bihi Kāfirūna
7:76 those who were arrogant said , “Indeed we are disbelievers in that which you believe in it .”
76. Qaalal lazeenas takbarooo innaa billazeee aamanntum bihee kaafiroon
77. فَعَقَرُوا النَّاقَةَ وَعَتَوْا عَنْ أَمْرِ رَبِّهِمْ وَقَالُوا يَا صَالِحُ ائْتِنَا بِمَا تَعِدُنَا إِنْ كُنْتَ مِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ
Fa`aqarū An-Nāqata Wa `Ataw `An Amri Rabbihim Wa Qālū Yā Şāliĥu A’tinā Bimā Ta`idunāIn Kunta Mina Al-Mursalīna
7:77 Then they hamstrung (i.e., slaughtered) the she-camel and were insolent/ rebellion/ defying towards the command of their Lord and they said, “O Ṣâliḥ! Bring us of what/ that ˹punishment˺ which you promise us, if you are of the Messengers.”
77. Fa’aqarun naaqata wa’ataw ‘an amri Rabbihim wa qaaloo yaa Saalihu’ tinaa bimaa ta’idunaaa in kunta minal mursaleen
78. فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ الرَّجْفَةُ فَأَصْبَحُوا فِي دَارِهِمْ جَاثِمِينَ
Fa’akhadhat/humu Ar-Rajfatu Fa’aşbaĥū Dārihim Jāthimīna
7:78 So the earthquake seized them, then they became in their homes fallen prone/ motions less/ lifeless bodies/  .

78. Fa akhazat humur rajfatu fa asbahoo fee daarihim jaasimeen
79. فَتَوَلَّىٰ عَنْهُمْ وَقَالَ يَا قَوْمِ لَقَدْ أَبْلَغْتُكُمْ رِسَالَةَ رَبِّي وَنَصَحْتُ لَكُمْ وَلَٰكِنْ لَا تُحِبُّونَ النَّاصِحِينَ
Fatawallá `Anhum Wa Qāla Yā Qawmi Laqad Ablaghtukum Risālata Rabbī Wa Naşaĥtu Lakum Wa Lakin Tuĥibbūna An-Nāşiĥīna
7:79 So he turned away from them and he said,O my people! Verily, I have conveyed to you the Message of my Lord and I advised to you but you do/did not like the advisers.
79. Fa tawalla ‘anhum wa qaala yaa qawmi laqad ablaghtukum Risaalata Rabbee wa nasahtu lakum wa laakil laa tuhibboonan naasiheen
80. وَلُوطًا إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِ أَتَأْتُونَ الْفَاحِشَةَ مَا سَبَقَكُمْ بِهَا مِنْ أَحَدٍ مِنَ الْعَالَمِينَ
Wa LūţāanIdh Qāla Liqawmihi Ata’tūna Al-Fāĥishata Sabaqakum Bihā Min Aĥadin Mina Al-`Ālamīna
7:80 And Lot, when he said to his people,Do you commit such immorality/ shameful deed* that none before you has ˹committed˺ in from anyone of/from the worlds.

7:80 And when Lot said to his people,Do you commit (such) immorality/ shameful deed* not has preceded you therein any one of the worlds?
80. Wa Lootan iz qaala liqawmiheee ata’toonal faahishata maa sabaqakum bihaa min ahadim minal ‘aalameen
81. إِنَّكُمْ لَتَأْتُونَ الرِّجَالَ شَهْوَةً مِنْ دُونِ النِّسَاءِ ۚ بَلْ أَنْتُمْ قَوْمٌ مُسْرِفُونَ
‘Innakum Lata’tūna Ar-Rijāla Shahwatan Min Dūni An-Nisā’ Bal Antum Qawmun Musrifūna
7:81 Indeed, you approach men lustfully/ with desire/ with lust from instead of women. Nay/But, you are a transgressing people.”
81. Innakum lata’toonar rijaala shahwatam min doonin nisaaa’; bal antumqawmum musrifoon
82. وَمَا كَانَ جَوَابَ قَوْمِهِ إِلَّا أَنْ قَالُوا أَخْرِجُوهُمْ مِنْ قَرْيَتِكُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ أُنَاسٌ يَتَطَهَّرُونَ
Wa Mā Kāna Jawāba Qawmihi ‘Illā An Qālū Akhrijūhum Min Qaryatikum Innahum Unāsun Yataţahharūn
7:82 And not was (the) answer (of) his people except that they said, “Drive them (i.e., Lot and his family) out of your town. Indeed, they are people who keep themselves pure/ who keep clean and pure.”

82. Wa maa kaana jawaaba qawmihee illaa an qaalooo akhrijoohum min qaryatikum innahum unaasuny yatatahharoon
83. فَأَنْجَيْنَاهُ وَأَهْلَهُ إِلَّا امْرَأَتَهُ كَانَتْ مِنَ الْغَابِرِينَ
Fa’anjaynāhu Wa ‘Ahlahu ‘Illā Amra’atahu Kānat Mina Al-Ghābirīna
7:83 So We saved him ˹Lot˺ and his family except his wife, she was of those who stayed behind.
83. Fa anjainaahu wa ahlahooo illam ra atahoo kaanat minal ghaabireen
84. وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ مَطَرًا ۖ فَانْظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الْمُجْرِمِينَ
Wa ‘Amţarnā `Alayhim Maţarāan Fānžur Kayfa Kāna `Āqibatu Al-Mujrimīna
7:84 And We showered a rain upon them. So see how was the end of the criminals.
84. Wa ‘amtarnaa ‘alaihim mataran fanzur kaifa kaana aaqibatul mujrimeen (section 10)
85. وَإِلَىٰ مَدْيَنَ أَخَاهُمْ شُعَيْبًا ۗ قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مَا لَكُمْ مِنْ إِلَٰهٍ غَيْرُهُ ۖ قَدْ جَاءَتْكُمْ بَيِّنَةٌ مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ ۖ فَأَوْفُوا الْكَيْلَ وَالْمِيزَانَ وَلَا تَبْخَسُوا النَّاسَ أَشْيَاءَهُمْ وَلَا تُفْسِدُوا فِي الْأَرْضِ بَعْدَ إِصْلَاحِهَا ۚ ذَٰلِكُمْ خَيْرٌ لَكُمْ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ مُؤْمِنِينَ
Wa ‘Ilá Madyana Akhāhum Shu`aybāan Qāla Yā Qawmi A`budū Al-Laha Lakum Min Ilahin Ghayruhu Qad Jā’atkum Bayyinatun Min Rabbikum Fa’awfū Al-Kayla Wa Al-Mīzāna Wa Lā Tabkhasū An-Nāsa Ashyā ‘Ahum Wa Lā Tufsidū Al-‘Arđi Ba`da ‘Işlāĥihā Dhālikum Khayrun Lakum ‘In Kuntum Mu’uminīna
7:85 And to ˹the people of˺ Madian, ˹We sent˺ his brother Shuaib. He said, “O my people! Worship Allah, you have no god from other than Him. Verily,a clear proof has came to you from your Lord. So give full/ So fulfill the measure and the weight and do not deprive/ defraud the people in their things and do not cause corruption in the earth after its reformation/ it has been set it order. That is better for you if you are believers.
85. Wa ilaa Madyana akhaahum Shu’aybaa; qaala yaa qawmi’ budul laaha maa lakum min ilaahin ghairuhoo qad jaaa’atkum baiyinatum mir Rabbikum fa awful kaila walmeezaana wa laa tabkhasun naasa ashyaa’ahum wa laa tufsidoo fil ardi ba’da islaahihaa; zaalikum khairul lakum in kuntum mu’mineen
86. وَلَا تَقْعُدُوا بِكُلِّ صِرَاطٍ تُوعِدُونَ وَتَصُدُّونَ عَنْ سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ مَنْ آمَنَ بِهِ وَتَبْغُونَهَا عِوَجًا ۚ وَاذْكُرُوا إِذْ كُنْتُمْ قَلِيلًا فَكَثَّرَكُمْ ۖ وَانْظُرُوا كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الْمُفْسِدِينَ
Wa Lā Taq`udū Bikulli Şirāţin Tū`idūna Wa Taşuddūna `An Sabīli Al-Lahi Man Āmana Bihi Wa Tabghūnahā `Iwajāan Wa AdhkurūIdh Kuntum Qalīlāan Fakaththarakum Wa Anžurū Kayfa Kāna `Āqibatu Al-Mufsidīna
7:86 And do not sit on every path threatening and hindering/ preventing/ turning away from the way of Allah those who believe in Him, and seeking ˹to make˺ it ˹appear˺ crooked. And remember when you were few, and He increased you. And see how was the end of the corrupters.
86. Wa laa taq’udoo bikulli siraatin too’idoona wa tasuddoona ‘an sabeelil laahi man aamana bihee wa tabghoonahaa ‘iwajaa; waz kurooo iz kuntum qaleelan fakassarakum wanzuroo kaifa kaana ‘aaqibatul mufsideen
87. وَإِنْ كَانَ طَائِفَةٌ مِنْكُمْ آمَنُوا بِالَّذِي أُرْسِلْتُ بِهِ وَطَائِفَةٌ لَمْ يُؤْمِنُوا فَاصْبِرُوا حَتَّىٰ يَحْكُمَ اللَّهُ بَيْنَنَا ۚ وَهُوَ خَيْرُ الْحَاكِمِينَ
Wa ‘In Kāna Ţā’ifatun Minkum Āmanū Bial-Ladhī Ursiltu Bihi Wa Ţā’ifatun Lam Yu’uminū Fāşbirū Ĥattá Yaĥkuma Al-Lahu Baynanā Wa Huwa Khayru Al-Ĥākimīna
7:87 And if there is a group among you who has believed/ who do believe in that with which I (i.e., Shuaib) have been sent, and a group who do not believe, then be patient until Allah judges between us. And He is the Best of the Judges.”
87. Wa In kaana taaa’ifatum minkum aamanoo billazeee ursiltu bihee wa taaa’ifatul lam yu’minoo fasbiroo hattaa yahkumal laahu bainanaa; wa Huwa khairul haakimeen (End Juz 8)
88. قَالَ الْمَلَأُ الَّذِينَ اسْتَكْبَرُوا مِنْ قَوْمِهِ لَنُخْرِجَنَّكَ يَا شُعَيْبُ وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مَعَكَ مِنْ قَرْيَتِنَا أَوْ لَتَعُودُنَّ فِي مِلَّتِنَا ۚ قَالَ أَوَلَوْ كُنَّا كَارِهِينَ
Qāla Al-Mala’u Al-Ladhīna Astakbarū Min Qawmihi Lanukhrijannaka Yā Shu`aybu Wa Al-LadhīnaĀmanū Ma`aka Min Qaryatinā Aw Lata`ūdunna Millatinā Qāla ‘Awalaw Kunnā Kārihīna
7:88 the chiefs of those who were arrogant among his people said,We will surely drive you out O Shuaib! And those who have believed with you from our city, or you must return to our religion.He ˹Shuaib˺ said,Even if we are the ones who hate it/ we hate it/ we were the ones who hate it/ we were unwilling?
88. Qaalal mala ul lazeenas takbaroo min qawmihee lanukhrijannaka yaa Shu’aibu wallazeena aamanoo ma’aka min qaryatinaaa aw lata’oo dunna fee millatinaa; qaala awa law kunnaa kaariheen
89. قَدِ افْتَرَيْنَا عَلَى اللَّهِ كَذِبًا إِنْ عُدْنَا فِي مِلَّتِكُمْ بَعْدَ إِذْ نَجَّانَا اللَّهُ مِنْهَا ۚ وَمَا يَكُونُ لَنَا أَنْ نَعُودَ فِيهَا إِلَّا أَنْ يَشَاءَ اللَّهُ رَبُّنَا ۚ وَسِعَ رَبُّنَا كُلَّ شَيْءٍ عِلْمًا ۚ عَلَى اللَّهِ تَوَكَّلْنَا ۚ رَبَّنَا افْتَحْ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَ قَوْمِنَا بِالْحَقِّ وَأَنْتَ خَيْرُ الْفَاتِحِينَ
Qadi Aftaraynā `Alá Al-Lahi Kadhibāan ‘In `Udnā Millatikum Ba`da ‘Idh Najjānā Al-Lahu Minhā Wa Mā Yakūnu Lanā ‘An Na`ūda Fīhā Illā An Yashā’a Al-Lahu Rabbunā Wasi`a Rabbunā Kulla Shay’in `Ilmāan `Alá Al-Lahi Tawakkalnā Rabbanā Aftaĥ Baynanā Wa Bayna Qawminā Bil-Ĥaqqi Wa ‘Anta Khayru Al-Fātiĥīna
7:89 Verily, we would have fabricated/ invented a lie against Allah if we returned in*/ to your religion after when Allah saved us from it. And it is not for us that we return in it except that Allah, our Lord wills. Our Lord encompasses every thing in knowledge. Upon Allah we put our trust. Our Lord! Decide between us and between our people in truth and You are the Best of those who Decide.”
89. Qadif tarainaa ‘alal laahi kaziban in ‘udnaa fee millatikum ba’da iz najjaanal laahu minhaa; wa maa yakoonu lanaaa an na’ooda feehaaa illaaa ai yashaaa’al laahu Rabbunaa; wasi’a Rabbunaa kulla shai’in ‘ilmaa; ‘alal laahi tawakkalnaa; Rabbanaf tah bainanaa wa baina qawminaa bilhaqqi wa Anta khairul faatiheen
90. وَقَالَ الْمَلَأُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِنْ قَوْمِهِ لَئِنِ اتَّبَعْتُمْ شُعَيْبًا إِنَّكُمْ إِذًا لَخَاسِرُونَ
Wa Qāla Al-Mala’u Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Min Qawmihi La’ini Attaba`tum Shu`aybāanInnakum Idhāan Lakhāsirūna
7:90 And the chiefs of those who disbelieved among his people said, “If you follow Shuaib, indeed, you will then surely be losers.
90. Wa qaalal mala ul lazeena kafaroo min qawmihee la’init taba’tum Shu’aiban innakum izal lakhaasiroon
91. فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ الرَّجْفَةُ فَأَصْبَحُوا فِي دَارِهِمْ جَاثِمِينَ
Fa’akhadhat/humu Ar-Rajfatu Fa’aşbaĥū Dārihim Jāthimīna
7:91 Then the earthquake seized them, then they became in their home(s) fallen prone.

92. الَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا شُعَيْبًا كَأَنْ لَمْ يَغْنَوْا فِيهَا ۚ الَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا شُعَيْبًا كَانُوا هُمُ الْخَاسِرِينَ
Al-Ladhīna Kadhdhabū Shu`aybāan Ka’an Lam Yaghnaw Fīhā Al-Ladhīna Kadhdhabū Shu`aybāan Kānū Humu Al-Khāsirīna
7:92 Those who denied Shuaib were (wiped out) as if they had not lived therein. Those who denied Shuaib, they were themselves the losers.
92. Allazeena kazzaboo Shu’aiban ka al lam yaghnaw feehaa; allazeena kazzaboo Shu’aiban kaanoo humul khaasireen
93. فَتَوَلَّىٰ عَنْهُمْ وَقَالَ يَا قَوْمِ لَقَدْ أَبْلَغْتُكُمْ رِسَالَاتِ رَبِّي وَنَصَحْتُ لَكُمْ ۖ فَكَيْفَ آسَىٰ عَلَىٰ قَوْمٍ كَافِرِينَ
Fatawallá `Anhum Wa Qāla Yā Qawmi Laqad Ablaghtukum Risālāti Rabbī Wa Naşaĥtu Lakum Fakayfa Āsá `Alá Qawmin Kāfirīna
7:93 So he turned away from them and said,O my people! Verily, I have conveyed/ delivered to you the Messages of my Lord and advised to you. So/ then how could/can I grieve for a people who are disbelievers/ a disbelieving people/ disbelieving people?”
93. Fatawalla ‘anhum wa qaala yaa qawmi laqad ablaghtukum Risaalaati Rabbee wa nasahtu lakum fakaifa aasaa’alaa qawmin kaafireen (section 11)
94. وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا فِي قَرْيَةٍ مِنْ نَبِيٍّ إِلَّا أَخَذْنَا أَهْلَهَا بِالْبَأْسَاءِ وَالضَّرَّاءِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَضَّرَّعُونَ
Wa MāArsalnā Qaryatin Min Nabīyin Illā Akhadhnā Ahlahā Bil-Ba’sā’i Wa Ađ-Đarrā’i La`allahum Yađđarra`ūna
7:94 And We have not sent from a Prophet in a city except/ but We seized its ˹disbelieving˺ people with adversity/ suffering/ poverty and hardship, so that they may become humble/ so that they may humble themselves ˹to Allah˺/ so that they might humble themselves ˹to Allah˺*.

94. Wa maaa arsalnaa fee qaryatim min Nabiyyin illaaa akhaznaaa ahlahaa bil ba’saaa’i waddarraaa’i la’allahum yaddarra’oon
95. ثُمَّ بَدَّلْنَا مَكَانَ السَّيِّئَةِ الْحَسَنَةَ حَتَّىٰ عَفَوْا وَقَالُوا قَدْ مَسَّ آبَاءَنَا الضَّرَّاءُ وَالسَّرَّاءُ فَأَخَذْنَاهُمْ بَغْتَةً وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ
Thumma Baddalnā Makāna As-Sayyi’ati Al-Ĥasanata Ĥattá `Afaw Wa Qālū Qad Massa ‘Ābā’anā Ađ-Đarrā’u Wa As-Sarrā’u Fa’akhadhnāhum Baghtatan Wa Hum Yash`urūna
7:95 Then We changed in place of the bad/evil, with the good, until they increased/ they grew in affluence and said ˹falsely˺,Verily, our forefathers were touched by the adversity and the ease.” So We seized them suddenly, while they did/were not perceive/aware/ realize/  .
95. Summa baddalnaa makaa nas saiyi’atil hasanata hattaa ‘afaw wa qaaloo qad massa aabaa’anad darraaa’u wassarraaa’u fa akhaznaahum baghtatanw wa hum laa yash’uroon
96. وَلَوْ أَنَّ أَهْلَ الْقُرَىٰ آمَنُوا وَاتَّقَوْا لَفَتَحْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ بَرَكَاتٍ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَلَٰكِنْ كَذَّبُوا فَأَخَذْنَاهُمْ بِمَا كَانُوا يَكْسِبُونَ
Wa Law Anna Ahla Al-QuráĀmanū Wa Attaqaw Lafataĥnā `Alayhim Barakātin Mina As-Samā’i Wa Al-‘Arđi Wa Lakin Kadhdhabū Fa’akhadhnāhum Bimā Kānū Yaksibūna
7:96 And if that people of the cities had believed and feared ˹Allah˺/ and been mindful ˹of Allah˺, surely, We would have opened upon them blessings from the heaven and the earth but they denied/ rejected. So We seized/ took them for what they used to earn.
96. Wa law anna ahlal quraaa aamanoo wattaqaw lafatahnaa ‘alaihim barakaatim minas samaaa’i wal ardi wa laakin kazzaboo fa akhaznaahum bimaa kaanoo yaksiboon
97. أَفَأَمِنَ أَهْلُ الْقُرَىٰ أَنْ يَأْتِيَهُمْ بَأْسُنَا بَيَاتًا وَهُمْ نَائِمُونَ
Afa’amina Ahlu Al-Qurá ‘An Ya’tiyahum Ba’sunā Bayātāan Wa Hum Nā’imūna
7:97 Then, did the people of the cities feel secure that Our punishment ˹will not˺ come to them/ come upon them at night while they were asleep?

97. Afa amina ahlul quraaa ai ya’tiyahum ba’sunaa bayaatanw wa hum naaa’imoon
98. أَوَأَمِنَ أَهْلُ الْقُرَىٰ أَنْ يَأْتِيَهُمْ بَأْسُنَا ضُحًى وَهُمْ يَلْعَبُونَ
‘Awa ‘AminaAhlu Al-QuráAn Ya’tiyahum Ba’sunā Đuĥáan Wa Hum Yal`abūna
7:98 Or the people of the cities felt secure that Our punishment ˹will not˺ come to them/ come upon them in daylight while they were playing?

98. Awa amina ahlul quraaa ai ya’tiyahum ba’sunaa duhanw wa hum yal’aboon
99. أَفَأَمِنُوا مَكْرَ اللَّهِ ۚ فَلَا يَأْمَنُ مَكْرَ اللَّهِ إِلَّا الْقَوْمُ الْخَاسِرُونَ
‘Afa’aminū Makra Al-Lahi Falā Ya’manu Makra Al-Lahi ‘Illā Al-Qawmu Al-Khāsirūna
7:99 Then did they feel secure ˹from/ against˺ the plan of Allah? But none feel secure ˹from/ against˺ the plan of Allah except the people who are the losers.
99. Afa aminoo makral laah; falaa ya’manu makral laahi illal qawmul khaasiroon (section 12)
100. أَوَلَمْ يَهْدِ لِلَّذِينَ يَرِثُونَ الْأَرْضَ مِنْ بَعْدِ أَهْلِهَا أَنْ لَوْ نَشَاءُ أَصَبْنَاهُمْ بِذُنُوبِهِمْ ۚ وَنَطْبَعُ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمْ فَهُمْ لَا يَسْمَعُونَ
Awalam Yahdi Lilladhīna Yarithūna Al-‘Arđa Min Ba`diAhlihā ‘An Law Nashā’u ‘Aşabnāhum Bidhunūbihim Wa Naţba`u `Alá Qulūbihim Fahum Yasma`ūna
7:100 Would it not/ Is it not a/ guide to/for those who inherit/ take over the land from after its ˹former˺ people that if We willed, We could afflict/ punish them (too) for their sins, and We put a seal over their hearts so they do not hear?
100. Awa lam yahdi lillazeena yarisoonal arda mim ba’di ahlihaaa al law nashaaa’u asabnaahum bizunoobihim; wa natba’u ‘alaa quloobihim fahum laa yasma’oon

101-150

101. تِلْكَ الْقُرَىٰ نَقُصُّ عَلَيْكَ مِنْ أَنْبَائِهَا ۚ وَلَقَدْ جَاءَتْهُمْ رُسُلُهُمْ بِالْبَيِّنَاتِ فَمَا كَانُوا لِيُؤْمِنُوا بِمَا كَذَّبُوا مِنْ قَبْلُ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ يَطْبَعُ اللَّهُ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِ الْكَافِرِينَ
Tilka Al-Qurá Naquşşu `Alayka Min Anbā’ihā Wa Laqad Jā’at/hum Rusuluhum Bil-Bayyināti Famā Kānū Liyu’uminū Bimā Kadhdhabū Min Qablu Kadhālika Yaţba`u Al-Lahu `Alá Qulūbi Al-Kāfirīna
7:101 These/ Those were the cities We relate/ narrate to you of their news. And certainly their Messengers came to them with clear proofs, but they were not to believe in what they had denied/ rejected from before. Thus Allah put a seal on the hearts of the disbelievers.
101. Tilkal quraa naqussu ‘alaika min ambaaa’ihaa; wa laqad jaaa’at hum Rusuluhum bilbaiyinaati famaa kaanoo liyu’minoo bimaa kazzaboo min qabl; kazaalika yatba’ul laahu ‘alaa quloobil kaafireen
102. وَمَا وَجَدْنَا لِأَكْثَرِهِمْ مِنْ عَهْدٍ ۖ وَإِنْ وَجَدْنَا أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَفَاسِقِينَ
Wa Mā Wajadnā Li’ktharihim Min `Ahdin Wa ‘In Wajadnā Aktharahum Lafāsiqīna

7:102 And We found/ find most of them not ˹fulfilling/ true˺ of their covenant. But/ Rather We found most of them certainly defiantly disobedient/ rebellious.

102. Wa maa wajadnaa li aksarihim min ‘ahd; wa inw wajadnaaa aksarahum lafaasiqeen
103. ثُمَّ بَعَثْنَا مِنْ بَعْدِهِمْ مُوسَىٰ بِآيَاتِنَا إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَئِهِ فَظَلَمُوا بِهَا ۖ فَانْظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الْمُفْسِدِينَ
Thumma Ba`athnā Min Ba`dihim Mūsá Bi’āyātinā ‘Ilá Fir`awna Wa Mala’ihi Fažalamū Bihā Fānžur Kayfa Kāna `Āqibatu Al-Mufsidīna
7:103 Then from after them We sent Moses ˹Musa˺ with Our Signs to pharaoh ˹firaun˺ and his chiefs, but they rejected them (i.e., signs)/ but they were unjust to them (i.e., signs). So see how was the end of the corrupters.
103. Summa ba’asnaa mim ba’dihim Moosaa bi Aayaatinaaa ilaa Fir’awana wa mala’ihee fazalamoo bihaa fanzur kaifa kaana ‘aaqibatul mufsideen
104. وَقَالَ مُوسَىٰ يَا فِرْعَوْنُ إِنِّي رَسُولٌ مِنْ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ
Wa Qāla Mūsá Yā Fir`awnu ‘Innī Rasūlun Min Rabbi Al-`Ālamīna
7:104 And Moses ˹Musa˺ said, “O pharaoh! ˹firaun˺ Indeed, I am a Messenger from the Lord of the worlds
104. Wa qaala Moosaa yaa Fir’awnu inneee Rasoolum mir Rabbil ‘aalameen
105. حَقِيقٌ عَلَىٰ أَنْ لَا أَقُولَ عَلَى اللَّهِ إِلَّا الْحَقَّ ۚ قَدْ جِئْتُكُمْ بِبَيِّنَةٍ مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ فَأَرْسِلْ مَعِيَ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ
Ĥaqīqun `Alá ‘An Aqūla `Alá Al-Lahi ‘Illā Al-Ĥaqqa Qad Ji’tukum Bibayyinatin Min Rabbikum Fa’arsil Ma`ī Banī ‘Isrā’īla
7:105 Obligated on that I say nothing about Allah except the truth. Verily, I have come to you with a clear Sign from your Lord, so send the Children of Israel go/ along with me.”
105. Haqeequn ‘alaaa al laaa aqoola ‘alal laahi illal haqq; qad ji’tukum bibaiyinatim mir Rabbikum fa arsil ma’iya Baneee Israaa’eel
106. قَالَ إِنْ كُنْتَ جِئْتَ بِآيَةٍ فَأْتِ بِهَا إِنْ كُنْتَ مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ
Qāla ‘In Kunta Ji’ta Bi’āyatin Fa’ti Bihā ‘In Kunta Mina Aş-Şādiqīna
7:106 he ˹pharaoh˺ said,If you have come with a Sign, then bring it if you are of the truthful.”
106. Qaala in kunnta ji’ta bi Aayatin fa’tibihaa in kunnta minas saadiqeen
107. فَأَلْقَىٰ عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِيَ ثُعْبَانٌ مُبِينٌ
Fa’alqá `Aşāhu Fa’idhā Hiya Thu`bānun Mubīnun
7:107 So he ˹Moses˺ threw his staff, and suddenly it became a snake, clearly/ it was a snake, clearly/ it manifest a snake/ it clearly became a snake.
107. Fa alqaa ‘asaahu fa izaa hiya su’baanum mubeen
108. وَنَزَعَ يَدَهُ فَإِذَا هِيَ بَيْضَاءُ لِلنَّاظِرِينَ
Wa Naza`a Yadahu Fa’idhā Hiya Bayđā’u Lilnnāžirīna
7:108 And he ˹Moses˺ drew out his hand and suddenly it was white ˹with radiance˺ for the observers.
108. Wa naza’a yadahoo fa izaa hiya baidaaa’u linnaazireen (section 13)
109. قَالَ الْمَلَأُ مِنْ قَوْمِ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَسَاحِرٌ عَلِيمٌ
Qāla Al-Mala’u Min Qawmi Fir`awnaInna Hādhā Lasāĥirun `Alīmun
7:109 the chiefs of the people of pharaoh said,Indeed, this is surely a learned magician,
109. Qaalal mala-u min qawmi Fir’awna inna haazaa lasaahirun ‘aleem
110. يُرِيدُ أَنْ يُخْرِجَكُمْ مِنْ أَرْضِكُمْ ۖ فَمَاذَا تَأْمُرُونَ
Yurīdu ‘An Yukhrijakum MinArđikum Famādhā Ta’murūna
7:110 He ˹Moses˺ wants to drive you out from your land, so what do you instruct?”
110. Yureedu ai yukhrijakum min ardikum famaazaa ta’muroon
111. قَالُوا أَرْجِهْ وَأَخَاهُ وَأَرْسِلْ فِي الْمَدَائِنِ حَاشِرِينَ
Qālū Arjihi Wa ‘Akhāhu Wa ‘Arsil Al-Madā’ini Ĥāshirīna
7:111 They said, Postpone ˹the matter of˺ him and his brother/ Let him and his brother wait ˹a while˺ / Delay him and his brother ˹for a while˺, and send gatherers in the cities.
111. Qaalooo arjih wa akhaahu wa arsil filmadaaa’ini haashireen
112. يَأْتُوكَ بِكُلِّ سَاحِرٍ عَلِيمٍ
Ya’tūka Bikulli Sāĥirin `Alīmin
7:112 They (i.e., gatherers) will bring to you every learned magician.” They (i.e., gatherers) will bring every learned magician to you.”

7:112 They (i.e., gatherers) will/may come to you with every learned magician.”
112. Ya’tooka bikulli saahirin ‘aleem
113. وَجَاءَ السَّحَرَةُ فِرْعَوْنَ قَالُوا إِنَّ لَنَا لَأَجْرًا إِنْ كُنَّا نَحْنُ الْغَالِبِينَ
Wa Jā’a As-Saĥaratu Fir`awna Qālū ‘Inna Lanā La’ajrāan In Kunnā Naĥnu Al-Ghālibīna
7:113 So the magicians came to pharaoh. They (i.e., magicians) said,Indeed, for us surely will be a reward if we, we are the victors.”

Indeed, for us will surely be a reward if we, we are the victors.”

Indeed, there is surely a reward for us if we, we are the victors.”

Indeed, for us surely is a reward if we, we are the victors.”
113. Wa jaaa’as saharatu Fir’awna qaaloo inna lanaa la ajjran in kunnaa nahnul ghaalibeen
114. قَالَ نَعَمْ وَإِنَّكُمْ لَمِنَ الْمُقَرَّبِينَ
Qāla Na`am Wa ‘Innakum Lamina Al-Muqarrabīna
7:114 he ˹pharaoh˺ said, “Yes, and indeed you surely will be of/ among the ones who are near/ those made near/ to me.”

7:114 he ˹pharaoh˺ said, “Yes, and indeed you will surely be of/ among the ones who are near/ those made near/ those who are near to me.”
114. Qaala na’am wa innakum laminal muqarrabeen
115. قَالُوا يَا مُوسَىٰ إِمَّا أَنْ تُلْقِيَ وَإِمَّا أَنْ نَكُونَ نَحْنُ الْمُلْقِينَ
Qālū Yā Mūsá Immā ‘An Tulqiya Wa ‘Immā ‘An Nakūna Naĥnu Al-Mulqīna
7:115 They ˹magicians˺ said,O Moses! either that you throw (first) or that we, we will be the ones to throw (first)?”
115. Qaaloo yaa Moosaaa immaaa an tulqiya wa immaaa an nakoona nahnul mulqeen
116. قَالَ أَلْقُوا ۖ فَلَمَّا أَلْقَوْا سَحَرُوا أَعْيُنَ النَّاسِ وَاسْتَرْهَبُوهُمْ وَجَاءُوا بِسِحْرٍ عَظِيمٍ
Qāla ‘Alqū Falammā Alqaw Saĥarū ‘A`yuna An-Nāsi Wa Astarhabūhum Wa Jā’ū Bisiĥrin `Ažīmin
7:116 He ˹Moses˺ said, “Throw.Then when they threw, they bewitched/ deceived the eyes of the people, and terrified them and they came up with a great magic.
116. Qaala alqoo falam maaa alqaw saharooo a’yunannaasi wastarhaboohum wa jaaa’oo bisihrin ‘azeem
117. وَأَوْحَيْنَا إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ أَنْ أَلْقِ عَصَاكَ ۖ فَإِذَا هِيَ تَلْقَفُ مَا يَأْفِكُونَ
Wa ‘Awĥaynā ‘Ilá Mūsá An ‘Alqi `Aşāka Fa’idhā Hiya Talqafu Ya’fikūna
7:117 And We inspired to Moses that,Throw your staff,” and suddenly it swallowed what they were falsifying.
117. Wa awhainaaa ilaa Moosaaa an alqi ‘asaaka fa izaa hiya talqafu maa ya’fikoon
118. فَوَقَعَ الْحَقُّ وَبَطَلَ مَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ
Fawaqa`a Al-Ĥaqqu Wa Baţala Kānū Ya`malūna
7:118 So the truth was established/ prevailed, and what they were doing became false./ and became false what they were doing.
118. Fawaqa’al haqqu wa batala maa kaanoo ya’maloon
119. فَغُلِبُوا هُنَالِكَ وَانْقَلَبُوا صَاغِرِينَ
Faghulibū Hunālika Wa Anqalabū Şāghirīna
7:119 So they were defeated there and returned humiliated.
119. Faghuliboo hunaalika wanqalaboo saaghireen
120. وَأُلْقِيَ السَّحَرَةُ سَاجِدِينَ
Wa ‘Ulqiya As-Saĥaratu Sājidīna
7:120 And the magicians fell down, prostrating.
120. Wa ulqiyas saharatu saajideen
121. قَالُوا آمَنَّا بِرَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ
Qālū Āmannā Birabbi Al-`Ālamīna
7:121 They said,We believe in the Lord of the worlds
121. Qaaloo aamannaa bi Rabbil ‘aalameen
122. رَبِّ مُوسَىٰ وَهَارُونَ
Rabbi Mūsá Wa Hārūna
7:122 Lord of Moses and Harun.
122. Rabbi Moosaa wa Haaroon
123. قَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ آمَنْتُمْ بِهِ قَبْلَ أَنْ آذَنَ لَكُمْ ۖ إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَمَكْرٌ مَكَرْتُمُوهُ فِي الْمَدِينَةِ لِتُخْرِجُوا مِنْهَا أَهْلَهَا ۖ فَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ
Qāla Fir`awnuĀmantum Bihi Qabla ‘An Ādhana Lakum Inna Hādhā Lamakrun Makartumūhu Al-Madīnati Litukhrijū Minhā Ahlahā Fasawfa Ta`lamūna
7:123 pharaoh said, “You believed in him before that I give permission to you. Indeed, this is surely a plot you have plotted in the city so that you may drive out its people from it. But soon you will know.
123. Qaala Fir’awnu aamantum bihee qabla an aazana lakum; inna haaza lamakrum makartumoohu filmadeenati litukhrijoo minhaaa ahlahaa fasawfa ta’lamoon
124. لَأُقَطِّعَنَّ أَيْدِيَكُمْ وَأَرْجُلَكُمْ مِنْ خِلَافٍ ثُمَّ لَأُصَلِّبَنَّكُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
La’uqaţţi`annaAydiyakum Wa ‘Arjulakum Min Khilāfin Thumma La’uşallibannakum Ajma`īna
7:124 I will surely cut off your hands and your feet of opposite ˹sides˺. Then I will surely crucify you all.
124. La uqatti’anna aidiyakum wa arjulakum min khilaafin summa la usallibannakum ajma’een
125. قَالُوا إِنَّا إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا مُنْقَلِبُونَ
Qālū ‘Innā ‘Ilá Rabbinā Munqalibūna
7:125 They said, “Indeed/Surely, to our Lord we will return.
125. Qaaloo innaaa ilaa Rabbinaa munqaliboon
126. وَمَا تَنْقِمُ مِنَّا إِلَّا أَنْ آمَنَّا بِآيَاتِ رَبِّنَا لَمَّا جَاءَتْنَا ۚ رَبَّنَا أَفْرِغْ عَلَيْنَا صَبْرًا وَتَوَفَّنَا مُسْلِمِينَ
Wa Mā Tanqimu MinnāIllā ‘AnĀmannā Bi’āyāti Rabbinā Lammā Jā’atnā RabbanāAfrigh `Alaynā Şabrāan Wa Tawaffanā Muslimīna
7:126 And you do not take revenge from us except that we believed in the Signs of our Lord when they came to us. Our Lord! Pour upon us patience and cause us to die as Muslims (i.e., in submission to You).”
126. Wa maa tanqimu minnaaa illaaa an aamannaa bi Aayaati Rabbinaa lammaa jaaa’atnaa; Rabbanaaa afrigh ‘alainaa sabranw wa tawaffanaa muslimeen (section 14)
127. وَقَالَ الْمَلَأُ مِنْ قَوْمِ فِرْعَوْنَ أَتَذَرُ مُوسَىٰ وَقَوْمَهُ لِيُفْسِدُوا فِي الْأَرْضِ وَيَذَرَكَ وَآلِهَتَكَ ۚ قَالَ سَنُقَتِّلُ أَبْنَاءَهُمْ وَنَسْتَحْيِي نِسَاءَهُمْ وَإِنَّا فَوْقَهُمْ قَاهِرُونَ
Wa Qāla Al-Mala’u Min Qawmi Fir`awnaAtadharu Mūsá Wa Qawmahu Liyufsidū Al-‘Arđi Wa Yadharaka Wa ‘Ālihataka Qāla Sanuqattilu ‘Abnā’ahum Wa Nastaĥyī Nisā’ahum Wa ‘Innā Fawqahum Qāhirūna
7:127 And the chiefs of the people of pharaoh said, “Will you leave Moses and his people so that they cause corruption in the earth and forsake/ abandon you and your gods?” he ˹pharaoh˺ said, “We will kill their sons and we will let their women live, and indeed, we have power over them.”
127. Wa qaalal mala-u min qawmi Fir’awna atazaru Moosaa wa qawmahoo liyufsidoo fil ardi wa yazaraka wa aalihatak; qaala sanuqattilu abnaaa ‘ahum wa nastahyee nisaaa’ahum wa innaa fawqahum qaahiroon
128. قَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِقَوْمِهِ اسْتَعِينُوا بِاللَّهِ وَاصْبِرُوا ۖ إِنَّ الْأَرْضَ لِلَّهِ يُورِثُهَا مَنْ يَشَاءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ ۖ وَالْعَاقِبَةُ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ
Qāla Mūsá Liqawmihi Asta`īnū Bil-Lahi Wa Aşbirū Inna Al-‘Arđa Lillahi Yūrithuhā Man Yashā’u Min `Ibādihi Wa Al-`Āqibatu Lilmuttaqīna
7:128 Moses said to his people, “Seek help from Allah and be patient. Indeed, the earth belongs to Allah. He causes to inherit it whom He wills of His servants. And the good/best end/ outcome is for the righteous.
128. Qaala Moosaa liqawmihis ta’eenoo billaahi wasbiroo innal arda lillaahi yoorisuhaa mai yashaaa’u min ‘ibaadihee wal ‘aaqibatu lilmuttaqeen
129. قَالُوا أُوذِينَا مِنْ قَبْلِ أَنْ تَأْتِيَنَا وَمِنْ بَعْدِ مَا جِئْتَنَا ۚ قَالَ عَسَىٰ رَبُّكُمْ أَنْ يُهْلِكَ عَدُوَّكُمْ وَيَسْتَخْلِفَكُمْ فِي الْأَرْضِ فَيَنْظُرَ كَيْفَ تَعْمَلُونَ
Qālū ‘Ūdhīnā Min Qabli ‘An Ta’tiyanā Wa Min Ba`di Ji’tanā Qāla `Asá Rabbukum ‘An Yuhlika `AdūwakumWa Yastakhlifakum Al-‘Arđi Fayanžura Kayfa Ta`malūna
7:129 They said,We have been harmedfrom before that you came to us, and from after what you have come to us.He ˹Moses˺ said,Perhaps/ It may be that your Lord will destroy your enemy and make you successors in the earth and see how you will do.”
129. Qaaloo oozeenaa min qabli an ta’tiyanaa wa mim ba’di maa ji’tanaa; qaala ‘asaa Rabbukum ai yuhlika ‘aduwwakum wa yastakhli fakum fil ardi fayanzura kaifa ta’maloon (section 15)
130. وَلَقَدْ أَخَذْنَا آلَ فِرْعَوْنَ بِالسِّنِينَ وَنَقْصٍ مِنَ الثَّمَرَاتِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَذَّكَّرُونَ
Wa LaqadAkhadhnā ‘Āla Fir`awna Bis-Sinīna Wa Naqşin Mina Ath-Thamarāti La`allahum Yadhdhakkarūna
7:130 And certainly, We seized/ grasped the people of paraoh with years of famine and a deficit/ reduction/ shortage/ loss of the fruits, so that they may remember / receive admonition.
130. Wa laqad akhaznaaa Aala Fir’awna bis sineena wa naqsim minas samaraati la’allahum yazzakkaroon
131. فَإِذَا جَاءَتْهُمُ الْحَسَنَةُ قَالُوا لَنَا هَٰذِهِ ۖ وَإِنْ تُصِبْهُمْ سَيِّئَةٌ يَطَّيَّرُوا بِمُوسَىٰ وَمَنْ مَعَهُ ۗ أَلَا إِنَّمَا طَائِرُهُمْ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
Fa’idhā Jā’at/humu Al-Ĥasanatu Qālū Lanā Hadhihi Wa ‘In Tuşibhum Sayyi’atun Yaţţayyarū Bimūsá Wa Man Ma`ahu ‘Alā Innamā Ţā’iruhum `Inda Al-Lahi Wa LakinnaAktharahum Ya`lamūna
7:131 Then when the good came to them they said,this is for us.And if bad strikes them, they ascribe/ attribute evil omens to Moses and who were with him. Behold! their evil omens are only with Allah but most of them do not know.
131. Fa izaa jaaa’at humul hasanatu qaaloo lanaa haazihee wa in tusibhum saiyi’atuny yattaiyaroo bi Moosaa wa mam ma’ah; alaaa innamaa taaa’iruhum ‘indal laahi wa laakinna aksarahum laa ya’lamoon
132. وَقَالُوا مَهْمَا تَأْتِنَا بِهِ مِنْ آيَةٍ لِتَسْحَرَنَا بِهَا فَمَا نَحْنُ لَكَ بِمُؤْمِنِينَ
Wa Qālū Mahmā Ta’tinā Bihi Min Āyatin Litasĥaranā Bihā Famā Naĥnu Laka Bimu’uminīna
7:132 And they said to Moses, “Whatever of/ from the sign you bring us therewith/ thereby, so that you deceive us with it, but we will not believe in you.”
132. Wa qaaloo mahmaa taatinaa bihee min Aayatil litas’haranaa bihaa famaa nahnu laka bimu’mineen
133. فَأَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمُ الطُّوفَانَ وَالْجَرَادَ وَالْقُمَّلَ وَالضَّفَادِعَ وَالدَّمَ آيَاتٍ مُفَصَّلَاتٍ فَاسْتَكْبَرُوا وَكَانُوا قَوْمًا مُجْرِمِينَ
Fa’arsalnā `Alayhimu Aţ-Ţūfāna Wa Al-Jarāda Wa Al-Qummala Wa Ađ-Đafādi`a Wa Ad-DamaĀyātin Mufaşşalātin Fāstakbarū Wa Kānū Qawmāan Mujrimīna
7:133 So We sent on them the flood, and the locusts, and the lice, and the frogs, and the blood as clear signs, but they showed arrogance and they were a criminal people.
133. Fa arsalnaa ‘alaihimut toofaana waljaraada walqum mala waddafaadi’a waddama Aayaatim mufassalaatin fastakbaroo wa kaanoo qawmam mujrimeen
134. وَلَمَّا وَقَعَ عَلَيْهِمُ الرِّجْزُ قَالُوا يَا مُوسَى ادْعُ لَنَا رَبَّكَ بِمَا عَهِدَ عِنْدَكَ ۖ لَئِنْ كَشَفْتَ عَنَّا الرِّجْزَ لَنُؤْمِنَنَّ لَكَ وَلَنُرْسِلَنَّ مَعَكَ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ
Wa Lammā Waqa`a `Alayhimu Ar-Rijzu Qālū Yā Mūsá Ad`u Lanā Rabbaka Bimā `Ahida `Indaka La’in Kashafta `Annā Ar-Rijza Lanu’uminanna Laka Wa Lanursilanna Ma`aka Banī ‘Isrā’īla
7:134 And when the punishment fell on them, they said, “O Moses! Call/ Pray to your Lord for us by/ of/  what He has promised to you. If you remove the punishment from us surely, we will believe [in] you and surely, we will send the Children of Israel with you.”
134. Wa lammaa waqa’a ‘alaihimur rijzu qaaloo ya Moosad-u lanaa rabbaka bimaa ‘ahida ‘indaka la’in kashafta ‘annar rijza lanu ‘minanna laka wa lanursilanna ma’aka Banee Israaa’eel
135. فَلَمَّا كَشَفْنَا عَنْهُمُ الرِّجْزَ إِلَىٰ أَجَلٍ هُمْ بَالِغُوهُ إِذَا هُمْ يَنْكُثُونَ
Falammā Kashafnā `Anhumu Ar-RijzaIlá Ajalin Hum Bālighūhu ‘Idhā Hum Yankuthūna
7:135 But when We removed the punishment from them till a term they were to reach, then, they broke ˹their promise˺.
135. Falammaa kashafnaa ‘anhumur rijza ilaaa ajalin hum baalighoohu izaa hum yankusoon
136. فَانْتَقَمْنَا مِنْهُمْ فَأَغْرَقْنَاهُمْ فِي الْيَمِّ بِأَنَّهُمْ كَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا وَكَانُوا عَنْهَا غَافِلِينَ
Fāntaqamnā Minhum Fa’aghraqnāhum Al-Yammi Bi’annahum Kadhdhabū Bi’āyātinā Wa Kānū `Anhā Ghāfilīna
7:136 So We took retribution/ inflicted punishment from/ on them and We drowned them in the sea because they denied/ rejected Our Signs, and they were heedless of them.
136. Fantaqamnaa minhum fa’aghraqnaahum Fil’yammi Bi Annahum kazzaboo bi Aayaatinaa wa kaanoo ‘anhaa ghaafileen
137. وَأَوْرَثْنَا الْقَوْمَ الَّذِينَ كَانُوا يُسْتَضْعَفُونَ مَشَارِقَ الْأَرْضِ وَمَغَارِبَهَا الَّتِي بَارَكْنَا فِيهَا ۖ وَتَمَّتْ كَلِمَتُ رَبِّكَ الْحُسْنَىٰ عَلَىٰ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ بِمَا صَبَرُوا ۖ وَدَمَّرْنَا مَا كَانَ يَصْنَعُ فِرْعَوْنُ وَقَوْمُهُ وَمَا كَانُوا يَعْرِشُونَ
Wa ‘Awrathnā Al-Qawma Al-Ladhīna Kānū Yustađ`afūna Mashāriqa Al-‘Arđi Wa Maghāribahā Allatī Bāraknā Fīhā Wa Tammat Kalimatu Rabbika Al-Ĥusná `Alá Banī Isrā’īla Bimā Şabarū Wa Dammarnā Kāna Yaşna`u Fir`awnu Wa Qawmuhu Wa Mā Kānū Ya`rishūna
7:137 And We made the people those who were considered weak/ oppressed, inheritors/ inherit/ successors to the eastern ˹parts/ regions˺ of the land and the western ˹regions˺ of it, which We blessed in it/ therein. And the best/ good/ beautiful word of your Lord was fulfilled for the Children of Israel because they were patient. And We destroyed what pharoah and his people used to make, and what they used to erect/ built.
137. Wa awrasnal qawmal lazeena kaanoo yustad’afoona mashaariqal ardi wa maghaari bahal latee baaraknaa feehaa wa tammat kalimatu Rabbikal husnaa ‘alaa Baneee Israaa’eela bimaa sabaroo wa dammarnaa maa kaana yasna’u Fir’awnu wa qawmuhoo wa maa kaanoo ya’rishoon
138. وَجَاوَزْنَا بِبَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ الْبَحْرَ فَأَتَوْا عَلَىٰ قَوْمٍ يَعْكُفُونَ عَلَىٰ أَصْنَامٍ لَهُمْ ۚ قَالُوا يَا مُوسَى اجْعَلْ لَنَا إِلَٰهًا كَمَا لَهُمْ آلِهَةٌ ۚ قَالَ إِنَّكُمْ قَوْمٌ تَجْهَلُونَ
Wa Jāwaznā Bibanī ‘Isrā’īla Al-Baĥra Fa’ataw `Alá Qawmin Ya`kufūna `Alá Aşnāmin Lahum Qālū Yā Mūsá Aj`al Lanā Ilahāan Kamā Lahum Ālihatun Qāla Innakum Qawmun Tajhalūna
7:138 And We took the Children of Israel across the sea. Then they came upon a people devoted to idols of theirs. They ˹Children of Israel˺ said,O Moses! Make for us a god like what/ as they have gods. He said,Indeed, you are a people ignorant/ without knowledge. / a people acting/ behaving ignorantly.
138. Wa jaawaznaa bi Banneee Israaa’eelal bahra fa ataw ‘alaa qawminy ya’kufoona ‘alaaa asnaamil lahum; qaaloo yaa Moosaj’al lanaa ilaahan kamaa lahum aalihah; qaala innakum qawmun tajhaloon
139. إِنَّ هَٰؤُلَاءِ مُتَبَّرٌ مَا هُمْ فِيهِ وَبَاطِلٌ مَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ
Inna Hā’uulāMutabbarun Hum Fīhi Wa Bāţilun Kānū Ya`malūna

7:139 Indeed these, ˹worshippers˺ will be destroyed for what they ˹are engaged˺ in it and vain/ worthless is what they used to/ were/ are do/ doing.”

7:139 Indeed these, ˹worshippers˺ destroyed (is) what they (are) in it and vain (is) what they used to do.”
139. Innaa haaa’ulaaa’i mutabbarum maa hum feehi wa baatilum maa kaanoo ya’maloon
140. قَالَ أَغَيْرَ اللَّهِ أَبْغِيكُمْ إِلَٰهًا وَهُوَ فَضَّلَكُمْ عَلَى الْعَالَمِينَ
QālaAghayra Al-Lahi Abghīkum Ilahāan Wa Huwa Fađđalakum `Alá Al-`Ālamīna
7:140 He ˹Moses˺ said,Should I seek for you a god other than Allah, while He has preferred you over the worlds?”
140. Qaala a-ghairal laahi abgheekum ilaahanw wa Huwa faddalakum ‘alal ‘aalameen
141. وَإِذْ أَنْجَيْنَاكُمْ مِنْ آلِ فِرْعَوْنَ يَسُومُونَكُمْ سُوءَ الْعَذَابِ ۖ يُقَتِّلُونَ أَبْنَاءَكُمْ وَيَسْتَحْيُونَ نِسَاءَكُمْ ۚ وَفِي ذَٰلِكُمْ بَلَاءٌ مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ عَظِيمٌ
Wa ‘Idh Anjaynākum Min Āli Fir`awna Yasūmūnakum Sū’a Al-`Adhābi Yuqattilūna Abnā’akum Wa Yastaĥyūna Nisā’akum Wa Fī Dhālikum Balā’un Min Rabbikum `Ažīmun
7:141 And ˹remember˺ when We saved you from the people of pharoah who were afflicting you with the worst punishment, they were killing your sons and letting/ keeping your women live/ alive. And in that was a great trial from your Lord.
141. Wa iz anjainaakum min Aali Fir’awna yasoomoo nakum sooo’al ‘azaab, yuqattiloona abnaaa’akum wa yastahyoona nisaaa’akum; wa fee zaalikum balaaa’um mir Rabbikum ‘azeem (section 16)
142. وَوَاعَدْنَا مُوسَىٰ ثَلَاثِينَ لَيْلَةً وَأَتْمَمْنَاهَا بِعَشْرٍ فَتَمَّ مِيقَاتُ رَبِّهِ أَرْبَعِينَ لَيْلَةً ۚ وَقَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِأَخِيهِ هَارُونَ اخْلُفْنِي فِي قَوْمِي وَأَصْلِحْ وَلَا تَتَّبِعْ سَبِيلَ الْمُفْسِدِينَ
Wa Wā`adnā Mūsá Thalāthīna Laylatan Wa ‘Atmamnāhā Bi`ashrin Fatamma Mīqātu Rabbihi ‘Arba`īna Laylatan Wa Qāla Mūsá Li’khīhi Hārūna Akhlufnī Qawmī Wa ‘Aşliĥ Wa Lā Tattabi` Sabīla Al-Mufsidīna
7:142 And We appointed for Moses thirty nights and We completed them with ten ˹more˺, so the set term of his Lord was completed in forty nights. And Moses said to his brother Aaron ˹Harun˺, “Take my place among my people, and do right and do not follow the way of the corrupters.”
142. Wa waa’adnaa Moosaa salaaseena lailatanw wa at mamnaahaa bi’ashrim fatamma meeqaatu Rabbihee arba’eena lailah; wa qaala Moosaa liakheehi Haaroonakh lufnee fee qawmee wa aslih wa laa tattabi’ sabeelal mufsideen
143. وَلَمَّا جَاءَ مُوسَىٰ لِمِيقَاتِنَا وَكَلَّمَهُ رَبُّهُ قَالَ رَبِّ أَرِنِي أَنْظُرْ إِلَيْكَ ۚ قَالَ لَنْ تَرَانِي وَلَٰكِنِ انْظُرْ إِلَى الْجَبَلِ فَإِنِ اسْتَقَرَّ مَكَانَهُ فَسَوْفَ تَرَانِي ۚ فَلَمَّا تَجَلَّىٰ رَبُّهُ لِلْجَبَلِ جَعَلَهُ دَكًّا وَخَرَّ مُوسَىٰ صَعِقًا ۚ فَلَمَّا أَفَاقَ قَالَ سُبْحَانَكَ تُبْتُ إِلَيْكَ وَأَنَا أَوَّلُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ
Wa Lammā Jā’a Mūsá Limīqātinā Wa Kallamahu Rabbuhu Qāla Rabbi Arinī Anžur Ilayka Qāla Lan Tarānī Wa Lakini Anžur ‘Ilá Al-Jabali Fa’ini Astaqarra Makānahu Fasawfa Tarānī Falammā Tajallá Rabbuhu Liljabali Ja`alahu Dakkāan Wa Kharra Mūsá Şa`iqāan Falammā Afāqa Qāla Subĥānaka Tubtu Ilayka Wa ‘Anā Awwalu Al-Mu’uminīna
7:143 And when Moses came to Our appointed place and his Lord spoke to him, he ˹Moses˺ said,O my Lord! Show me ˹Yourself˺ that I may look at You. He ˹Allah˺ said, “you can never/not see Me, but look at the mountain; then if it remains in its place then you will see Me. But when his Lord revealed His Glory to the mountain, He ˹Allah˺ made it crumbled/ collapse to dust and Moses fell down unconscious. And when he ˹Moses˺ recovered he said, Glory be to You! I turn in repentance to You, and I am the first of the believers.”

143. Wa lammaa jaaa’a Moosa limeeqaatinaa wa kallamahoo Rabbuhoo qaala Rabbi arineee anzur ilaik; qaala lan taraanee wa laakininzur ilal jabali fa inistaqarra makaanahoo fasawfa taraanee; falammaa tajallaa Rabbuhoo liljabali ja’alahoo dakkanw wa kharra Moosaa sa’iqaa; falammaaa afaaqa qaala Subhaanaka tubtu ilaika wa ana awwalul mu’mineen
144. قَالَ يَا مُوسَىٰ إِنِّي اصْطَفَيْتُكَ عَلَى النَّاسِ بِرِسَالَاتِي وَبِكَلَامِي فَخُذْ مَا آتَيْتُكَ وَكُنْ مِنَ الشَّاكِرِينَ
Qāla Yā MūsáInnī Aşţafaytuka `Alá An-Nāsi Birisālātī Wa Bikalāmī Fakhudh Ātaytuka Wa Kun Mina Ash-Shākirīna
7:144 He ˹Allah˺ said, “O Moses! Indeed, I have chosen you over the people with My Messages and with My words. So take what I have given you and be among the grateful.
144. Qaala yaa Moosaaa innis tafaituka ‘alan naasi bi Risaalaatee wa bi kalaamee fakhuz maaa aataituka wa kum minash shaakireen
145. وَكَتَبْنَا لَهُ فِي الْأَلْوَاحِ مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ مَوْعِظَةً وَتَفْصِيلًا لِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ فَخُذْهَا بِقُوَّةٍ وَأْمُرْ قَوْمَكَ يَأْخُذُوا بِأَحْسَنِهَا ۚ سَأُرِيكُمْ دَارَ الْفَاسِقِينَ
Wa Katabnā Lahu Al-‘Alwāĥi Min Kulli Shay’in Maw`ižatan Wa Tafşīlāan Likulli Shay’in Fakhudh/hā Biqūwatin Wa ‘Mur Qawmaka Ya’khudhū Bi’aĥsanihā Sa’urīkum Dāra Al-Fāsiqīna
7:145 And We wrote for him in the tablets ˹the fundamentals/ Guidance˺ of every thing; an instruction and explanation for every thing, “So take/ hold them with firmness and order/ command your people to take the best of it. I will soon show you the home of the defiantly disobedient/ rebellious/ transgressors.

7:145 And We wrote for him in the tablets an instruction of every thing; and explanation for every thing.

145. Wa katabnaa lahoo fil alwaahi minkulli shai’im maw’izaanw wa tafseelal likulli shai’in fakhuzhaa biquwwatinw wa’mur qawmaka ya’khuzoo bi ahsanihaa; sa’ooreekum daaral faasiqeen
146. سَأَصْرِفُ عَنْ آيَاتِيَ الَّذِينَ يَتَكَبَّرُونَ فِي الْأَرْضِ بِغَيْرِ الْحَقِّ وَإِنْ يَرَوْا كُلَّ آيَةٍ لَا يُؤْمِنُوا بِهَا وَإِنْ يَرَوْا سَبِيلَ الرُّشْدِ لَا يَتَّخِذُوهُ سَبِيلًا وَإِنْ يَرَوْا سَبِيلَ الْغَيِّ يَتَّخِذُوهُ سَبِيلًا ۚ ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ كَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا وَكَانُوا عَنْهَا غَافِلِينَ
Sa’aşrifu `AnĀyātiya Al-Ladhīna Yatakabbarūna Al-‘Arđi Bighayri Al-Ĥaqqi Wa ‘In Yaraw Kulla Āyatin Yu’uminū Bihā Wa ‘In Yaraw Sabīla Ar-Rushdi Yattakhidhūhu Sabīlāan Wa ‘In Yaraw Sabīla Al-Ghayyi Yattakhidhūhu Sabīlāan Dhālika Bi’annahum Kadhdhabū Bi’āyātinā Wa Kānū `Anhā Ghāfilīna
7:146 I will turn away from My Signs those who are arrogant in the earth without the right; and even if they see every sign, they will not believe in it. And if they see the way of the righteousness/ the right path, they will not take it as a way/ path, but if they see the way of the error/ wickedness / the error path/ the crooked/ path, they will take it as a way/ path. That is because they denied Our Signs and they were heedless of them.
146. Sa asrifu ‘an Aayaatiyal lazeena yatakabbaroona fil ardi bighairil haqq; wa iny-yaraw kulla Aayatil laa yu’minoo bihaa wa iny-yaraw sabeelar rushdi laa yattakhizoohu sabeelanw wa iny-yaraw sabeelal ghaiyi yattakhizoohu sabeelaa; zaalika bi annahum kazzaboo bi Aayaatinaa wa kaanoo ‘anhaa ghaafileen
147. وَالَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا وَلِقَاءِ الْآخِرَةِ حَبِطَتْ أَعْمَالُهُمْ ۚ هَلْ يُجْزَوْنَ إِلَّا مَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ
Wa Al-Ladhīna Kadhdhabū Bi’āyātinā Wa Liqā’i Al-‘Ākhirati Ĥabiţat A`māluhum Hal Yujzawna ‘Illā Kānū Ya`malūna
7:147 And those who denied/ deny Our Signs and the meeting of the Hereafter their deeds are/will be worthless/ fruitless/ in vain. Will they be recompensed/ rewarded except for what they used to/ they have do/ done?
147. Wallazeena kazzaboo bi Aayaatinaa wa liqaaa’il Aakhirati habitat ‘amaaluhum; hal yujzawna illaa maa kaanoo ya’maloon (section 17)
148. وَاتَّخَذَ قَوْمُ مُوسَىٰ مِنْ بَعْدِهِ مِنْ حُلِيِّهِمْ عِجْلًا جَسَدًا لَهُ خُوَارٌ ۚ أَلَمْ يَرَوْا أَنَّهُ لَا يُكَلِّمُهُمْ وَلَا يَهْدِيهِمْ سَبِيلًا ۘ اتَّخَذُوهُ وَكَانُوا ظَالِمِينَ
Wa Attakhadha Qawmu Mūsá Min Ba`dihi Min Ĥulīyihim `Ijlāan Jasadāan Lahu Khuwārun Alam Yaraw Annahu Yukallimuhum Wa Lā Yahdīhim Sabīlāan Attakhadhūhu Wa Kānū Žālimīna
7:148 And the people of Moses from after him took/ made a calf from their ornamentsan image of it had a lowing sound. Did they not see that it could not/ neither speak to them and nor guide them to a way? They took it ˹for worship˺ and they were wrongdoers.
148. Wattakhaza qawmu Moosaa mim ba’dihee min huliyyihim ‘ijlan jasadal lahoo khuwaar; alam yaraw annahoo laa yukallimuhum wa laa yahdeehim sabeelaa; ittakhazoohu wa kaanoo zaalimeen
149. وَلَمَّا سُقِطَ فِي أَيْدِيهِمْ وَرَأَوْا أَنَّهُمْ قَدْ ضَلُّوا قَالُوا لَئِنْ لَمْ يَرْحَمْنَا رَبُّنَا وَيَغْفِرْ لَنَا لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ
Wa Lammā Suqiţa Aydīhim Wa Ra’awAnnahum Qad Đallū Qālū La’in Lam Yarĥamnā Rabbunā Wa Yaghfir Lanā Lanakūnanna Mina Al-Khāsirīna
7:149 And when ˹it was made to˺ fall into their hands and they saw that they had indeed gone astray, they said, “If Our Lord does not have Mercy on us and forgive us, we will surely be among the losers.”
149. Wa lammaa suqita feee aideehim wa ra aw annahum qad dalloo qaaloo la’il lam yarhamnaa Rabbunaa wa yaghfir lanaa lanakoonanna minal khaasireen
150. وَلَمَّا رَجَعَ مُوسَىٰ إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِ غَضْبَانَ أَسِفًا قَالَ بِئْسَمَا خَلَفْتُمُونِي مِنْ بَعْدِي ۖ أَعَجِلْتُمْ أَمْرَ رَبِّكُمْ ۖ وَأَلْقَى الْأَلْوَاحَ وَأَخَذَ بِرَأْسِ أَخِيهِ يَجُرُّهُ إِلَيْهِ ۚ قَالَ ابْنَ أُمَّ إِنَّ الْقَوْمَ اسْتَضْعَفُونِي وَكَادُوا يَقْتُلُونَنِي فَلَا تُشْمِتْ بِيَ الْأَعْدَاءَ وَلَا تَجْعَلْنِي مَعَ الْقَوْمِ الظَّالِمِينَ
Wa Lammā Raja`a Mūsá Ilá Qawmihi Ghađbāna Asifāan Qāla Bi’samā Khalaftumūnī Min Ba`dī ‘A`ajiltumAmra Rabbikum Wa ‘Alqá Al-‘Alwāĥa Wa ‘Akhadha Bira’siAkhīhi Yajurruhu Ilayhi Qāla Abna Umma Inna Al-Qawma Astađ`afūnī Wa Kādū Yaqtulūnanī Falā Tushmit Biya Al-‘A`dā’a Wa Lā Taj`alnī Ma`a Al-Qawmi Až-Žālimīna
7:150 And when Moses returned to his peopleangry, and grieved, he ˹Moses˺ said,Evil is what you have done in my place from after me. Were you impatient over the matter of your Lord?” And he cast/ put/ threw down the tablets and seized/ grabbed his brother by head, dragging him to himself. He said, “O son of my mother! Indeed, the people considered me weak and were about to kill me. So do not let the enemies rejoice over me, and do not/ nor place me with/ among the wrongdoing people.”
150. Wa lammaa raja’a Moosaaa ilaa qawmihee ghadbaana asifan qaala bi’samaa khalaftumoonee min ba’dee ‘a-‘ajiltum amra Rabbikum wa alqal alwaaha wa akhaza bira’si akheehi yajurruhoo ilaiyh; qaalab na umma innal qawmas tad’afoonee wa kadoo yaqtu loonanee; falaa tushmit biyal a’daaa’a wa laa taj’alnee ma’al qawmiz zaalimeen

151 to End

151. قَالَ رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَلِأَخِي وَأَدْخِلْنَا فِي رَحْمَتِكَ ۖ وَأَنْتَ أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِينَ
Qāla Rabbi Aghfir Lī Wa Li’akhī Wa ‘Adkhilnā Raĥmatika Wa ‘AntaArĥamu Ar-Rāĥimīna
7:151 He ˹Moses˺ said, O my Lord! Forgive me and my brother and admit us into Your Mercy, for You are the Most Merciful of the merciful.
151. Qaala Rabbighfirlee wa li akhee wa adkhilnaa fee rahmatika wa Anta arhamur raahimeen (section 18)
152. إِنَّ الَّذِينَ اتَّخَذُوا الْعِجْلَ سَيَنَالُهُمْ غَضَبٌ مِنْ رَبِّهِمْ وَذِلَّةٌ فِي الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا ۚ وَكَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُفْتَرِينَ
Inna Al-Ladhīna Attakhadhū Al-`Ijla Sayanāluhum Ghađabun Min Rabbihim Wa Dhillatun Al-Ĥayāati Ad-Dunyā Wa Kadhalika Najzī Al-Muftarīna
7:152 Indeed, those who took the calf ˹for worship˺, anger from their Lord will reach them and humiliation in the life of the world. And thus We recompense/ reward/ compensate the ones who invent ˹falsehood/lies˺.
152. Innal lazeenat takhazul ‘ijla-sa yanaaluhum ghadabum mir Rabbihim wa zillatun fil hayaatid dunyaa; wa kazaalika najzil muftareen
153. وَالَّذِينَ عَمِلُوا السَّيِّئَاتِ ثُمَّ تَابُوا مِنْ بَعْدِهَا وَآمَنُوا إِنَّ رَبَّكَ مِنْ بَعْدِهَا لَغَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ
Wa Al-Ladhīna `Amilū As-Sayyi’āti Thumma Tābū Min Ba`dihā Wa ‘ĀmanūInna Rabbaka Min Ba`dihā Laghafūrun Raĥīmun
7:153 And those who do the evil deeds then repented from after that and believed, indeed, your Lord from after that is surely All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
153. Wallazeena ‘amilus saiyiaati summa taaboo min ba’dihaa wa aamanooo inna Rabbaka min ba’dihaa la Ghafoorur Raheem
154. وَلَمَّا سَكَتَ عَنْ مُوسَى الْغَضَبُ أَخَذَ الْأَلْوَاحَ ۖ وَفِي نُسْخَتِهَا هُدًى وَرَحْمَةٌ لِلَّذِينَ هُمْ لِرَبِّهِمْ يَرْهَبُونَ
Wa Lammā Sakata `An Mūsá Al-Ghađabu Akhadha Al-‘Alwāĥa Wa Fī Nuskhatihā Hudáan Wa Raĥmatun Lilladhīna Hum Lirabbihim Yarhabūna
7:154 And when the anger of Moses was calmed ˹down˺ he took ˹up˺ the tablets and in their inscription was guidance and mercy for those who they/ themselves/ were are fearful of their Lord.
154. Wa lammaa sakata ‘an Moosal ghadabu akhazal alwaaha wa fee nuskhatihaa hudanw wa rahmatul lil lazeena hum li Rabbihim yarhaboon
155. وَاخْتَارَ مُوسَىٰ قَوْمَهُ سَبْعِينَ رَجُلًا لِمِيقَاتِنَا ۖ فَلَمَّا أَخَذَتْهُمُ الرَّجْفَةُ قَالَ رَبِّ لَوْ شِئْتَ أَهْلَكْتَهُمْ مِنْ قَبْلُ وَإِيَّايَ ۖ أَتُهْلِكُنَا بِمَا فَعَلَ السُّفَهَاءُ مِنَّا ۖ إِنْ هِيَ إِلَّا فِتْنَتُكَ تُضِلُّ بِهَا مَنْ تَشَاءُ وَتَهْدِي مَنْ تَشَاءُ ۖ أَنْتَ وَلِيُّنَا فَاغْفِرْ لَنَا وَارْحَمْنَا ۖ وَأَنْتَ خَيْرُ الْغَافِرِينَ
Wa Akhtāra Mūsá Qawmahu Sab`īna Rajulāan Limīqātinā Falammā ‘Akhadhat/humu Ar-Rajfatu Qāla Rabbi Law Shi’ta Ahlaktahum Min Qablu Wa ‘Īyāya Atuhlikunā Bimā Fa`ala As-Sufahā’u Minnā ‘In Hiya Illā Fitnatuka Tuđillu Bihā Man Tashā’u Wa Tahdī Man Tashā’u Anta Walīyunā Fāghfir Lanā Wa Arĥamnā Wa ‘Anta Khayru Al-Ghāfirīna
7:155 And Moses chose seventy men from his people for Our appointment. Then when the earthquake seized them, he ˹Moses˺ said, “O my Lord! If you had willed, You could have destroyed them from before and me ˹as well˺. Would You destroy us for what the foolish among us did? It was nothing but Your trial, by it You let go astray whom You will and ˹by it˺ You guide whom You will. You are our Protector, so forgive us and have mercy upon us, and You are Best of the Forgivers/ Best Forgiver.
155. Wakhtaara Moosaa qawmahoo sab’eena rajulal li meeqaatinaa falammaa akhazat humur rajfatu qaala Rabbi law shi’ta ahlaktahum min qablu wa iyyaay; ‘a tuhlikuna bimaa fa’alas sufahaaa’u minaa in hiya illaa fitnatuka tudillu bihaa man tashaaa’u wa tahdee man tashaaa; Anta waliyyunaa faghfir lanaa warhamnaa wa Anta khairul ghaafireen
156. وَاكْتُبْ لَنَا فِي هَٰذِهِ الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ إِنَّا هُدْنَا إِلَيْكَ ۚ قَالَ عَذَابِي أُصِيبُ بِهِ مَنْ أَشَاءُ ۖ وَرَحْمَتِي وَسِعَتْ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ ۚ فَسَأَكْتُبُهَا لِلَّذِينَ يَتَّقُونَ وَيُؤْتُونَ الزَّكَاةَ وَالَّذِينَ هُمْ بِآيَاتِنَا يُؤْمِنُونَ
Wa Aktub Lanā Hadhihi Ad-Dunyā Ĥasanatan Wa Fī Al-‘ĀkhiratiInnā Hudnā Ilayka Qāla `Adhābī Uşību Bihi Man ‘Ashā’u Wa Raĥmatī Wasi`at Kulla Shay’in Fasa’aktubuhā Lilladhīna Yattaqūna Wa Yu’utūna Az-Zakāata Wa Al-Ladhīna Hum Bi’āyātinā Yu’uminūna
7:156 And ordain/ grant for us good in this world and in the Hereafter. Indeed we, we have turned to You.He ˹Allah˺ said,My punishment I afflict with it whom I will, but My Mercy encompasses every thing. So I will ordain/ grant/ write it for those who are righteous and give zakaat (i.e., alms taxes) and those who they/ themselves believe in Our Verses.
156. Waktub lanaa fee haazi hid dunyaa hasanatanw wa fil Aakhirati innaa hudnaaa ilaik; qaala ‘azaabee useebu bihee man ashaaa’u wa rahmatee wasi’at kulla shai’; fasa aktubuhaa lil lazeena yattaqoona wa yu’toonaz Zakaata wal lazeena hum bi Aayaatinaa yu’minoon
157. الَّذِينَ يَتَّبِعُونَ الرَّسُولَ النَّبِيَّ الْأُمِّيَّ الَّذِي يَجِدُونَهُ مَكْتُوبًا عِنْدَهُمْ فِي التَّوْرَاةِ وَالْإِنْجِيلِ يَأْمُرُهُمْ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَنْهَاهُمْ عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ وَيُحِلُّ لَهُمُ الطَّيِّبَاتِ وَيُحَرِّمُ عَلَيْهِمُ الْخَبَائِثَ وَيَضَعُ عَنْهُمْ إِصْرَهُمْ وَالْأَغْلَالَ الَّتِي كَانَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ ۚ فَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا بِهِ وَعَزَّرُوهُ وَنَصَرُوهُ وَاتَّبَعُوا النُّورَ الَّذِي أُنْزِلَ مَعَهُ ۙ أُولَٰئِكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُونَ
Al-Ladhīna Yattabi`ūna Ar-Rasūla An-Nabīya Al-‘Ummīya Al-Ladhī Yajidūnahu Maktūbāan `Indahum At-Tawrāati Wa Al-‘Injīli Ya’muruhum Bil-Ma`rūfi Wa Yanhāhum `Ani Al-Munkari Wa Yuĥillu Lahumu Aţ-Ţayyibāti Wa Yuĥarrimu `Alayhimu Al-Khabā’itha Wa Yađa`u `Anhum Işrahum Wa Al-‘Aghlāla Allatī Kānat `Alayhim Fa-Al-LadhīnaĀmanū Bihi Wa `Azzarūhu Wa Naşarūhu Wa Attaba`ū An-Nūra Al-LadhīUnzila Ma`ahuŪlā’ika Humu Al-Mufliĥūna
7:157 Those who follow the Messenger, the unlettered Prophet, the one who/ whom they find him written (i.e., described) with them in the Tourah and the Gospel. He commands them to the right and forbids them from the wrong, and he makes the pure/good things lawful for them and makes the impure/ bad/ wicked/ evil things unlawful for them and he relieves their burden from them and the shackels which were upon them. So those who believe in him and honor him, and help him and follow the light which has been sent down with him. Those, they are the successful ones.
157. Allazeena yattabi’oonar Rasoolan Nabiyyal ummiyyal lazee yajidoonahoo maktooban ‘indahum fit Tawraati wal Injeeli ya’ muruhum bilma’roofi wa yanhaahum ‘anil munkari wa yuhillu lahumul taiyibaati wa yuharrimu ‘alaihimul khabaaa’isa wa yada’u ‘anhum israhum wal aghlaalal latee kaanat ‘alaihim; fallazeena aamanoo bihee wa ‘azzaroohu wa nasaroohu wattaba’un nooral lazeee unzila ma’ahooo ulaaa’ika humul muflihoon (section 19)
158. قُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنِّي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ إِلَيْكُمْ جَمِيعًا الَّذِي لَهُ مُلْكُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۖ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ يُحْيِي وَيُمِيتُ ۖ فَآمِنُوا بِاللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ النَّبِيِّ الْأُمِّيِّ الَّذِي يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَكَلِمَاتِهِ وَاتَّبِعُوهُ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَهْتَدُونَ
Qul Yā ‘Ayyuhā An-NāsuInnī Rasūlu Al-Lahi Ilaykum Jamī`āan Al-Ladhī Lahu Mulku As-Samāwāti Wa Al-‘Arđi ‘IlāhaIllā Huwa Yuĥyī Wa Yumītu Fa’āminū Bil-Lahi Wa Rasūlihi An-Nabīyi Al-‘Ummīyi Al-Ladhī Yu’uminu Bil-Lahi Wa Kalimātihi Wa Attabi`ūhu La`allakum Tahtadūna
7:158 Say, ˹O Prophet,˺O mankind! Indeed I am to you all the Messenger of Allah, the One to Whom ˹belongs the˺ dominion/kingdom of the heavens and the earth. There is no god except Him, He gives life and causes death. So believe in Allah and His Messenger, the unlettered Prophet, the one who believes in Allah and His Words, and follow him so that you may be guided.
158. Qul yaaa aiyuhan naasu innee Rasoolul laahi ilaikum jamee’anil lazee lahoo mulkus samaawaati wal ardi laaa ilaaha illaa Huwa yuhyee wa yumeetu fa aaminoo billaahi wa Rasoolihin Nabiyyil ummiy yil lazee yu’minu billaahi wa Kalimaatihee wattabi’oohu la’allakum tahtadoon
159. وَمِنْ قَوْمِ مُوسَىٰ أُمَّةٌ يَهْدُونَ بِالْحَقِّ وَبِهِ يَعْدِلُونَ
Wa Min Qawmi Mūsá Ummatun Yahdūna Bil-Ĥaqqi Wa Bihi Ya`dilūna
7:159 And among the people of Moses there is a community/ group who guides with the truth and by it (i.e., the truth) establishes justice/ establishes justice by it (i.e., the truth).
159. Wa min qawmi Moosaaa ummatuny yahdoona bilhaqqi wa bihee ya’diloon
160. وَقَطَّعْنَاهُمُ اثْنَتَيْ عَشْرَةَ أَسْبَاطًا أُمَمًا ۚ وَأَوْحَيْنَا إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ إِذِ اسْتَسْقَاهُ قَوْمُهُ أَنِ اضْرِبْ بِعَصَاكَ الْحَجَرَ ۖ فَانْبَجَسَتْ مِنْهُ اثْنَتَا عَشْرَةَ عَيْنًا ۖ قَدْ عَلِمَ كُلُّ أُنَاسٍ مَشْرَبَهُمْ ۚ وَظَلَّلْنَا عَلَيْهِمُ الْغَمَامَ وَأَنْزَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمُ الْمَنَّ وَالسَّلْوَىٰ ۖ كُلُوا مِنْ طَيِّبَاتِ مَا رَزَقْنَاكُمْ ۚ وَمَا ظَلَمُونَا وَلَٰكِنْ كَانُوا أَنْفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُونَ
Wa Qaţţa`nāhumu Athnatay `Ashrata Asbāţāan Umamāan Wa ‘Awĥaynā ‘Ilá Mūsá ‘Idh Astasqāhu Qawmuhu Ani Ađrib Bi`aşāka Al-Ĥajara Fānbajasat Minhu Athnatā `Ashrata `Aynāan Qad `Alima Kullu Unāsin Mashrabahum Wa Žallalnā `Alayhimu Al-Ghamāma Wa ‘Anzalnā `Alayhimu Al-Manna Wa As-Salwá Kulū Min Ţayyibāti Razaqnākum Wa Mā Žalamūnā Wa Lakin Kānū Anfusahum Yažlimūna
7:160 And We divided them into two ten (i.e twelve) tribes ˹as distinct˺ communities. And We inspired to Moses, when his people asked him for water, thatStrike with your staff the stone.” Then two ten (i.e twelve) springs gushed forth/out from it. Certainly, each people knew their drinking place. And We shaded on/ over/ above/ upon them with the clouds and We sent down upon them the Manna and the quails. “Eat from the good things which We have provided you.” And they did not wronged/wrong Us, but they were doing wrong to themselves.
160. Wa qatta’ naahumus natai ‘ashrata asbaatan umamaa; wa awhainaa ilaa Moosaaa izis tasqaahu qawmuhooo anid rib bi’asaakal hajara fambajasat minhus nata ‘ashrata ‘ainan qad ‘alima kullu unaasim mashrabahum; wa zallalnaa ‘alaihimul ghamaama wa anzalnaa ‘alaihimul manna was Salwaa kuloo min taiyibaati maa razaqnaakum; wa maa zalamoonaa wa laakin kaanooo anfusahum yazlimoon
161. وَإِذْ قِيلَ لَهُمُ اسْكُنُوا هَٰذِهِ الْقَرْيَةَ وَكُلُوا مِنْهَا حَيْثُ شِئْتُمْ وَقُولُوا حِطَّةٌ وَادْخُلُوا الْبَابَ سُجَّدًا نَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ خَطِيئَاتِكُمْ ۚ سَنَزِيدُ الْمُحْسِنِينَ
Wa ‘Idh Qīla Lahumu Askunū Hadhihi Al-Qaryata Wa Kulū Minhā Ĥaythu Shi’tum Wa Qūlū Ĥiţţatun Wa Adkhulū Al-Bāba Sujjadāan Naghfir Lakum Khaţī’ātikum Sanazīdu Al-Muĥsinīna
7:161 And ˹remember˺ when it was said to them, “Live in this city and eat from it wherever you wish and Say,Repentance,” and enter the gate prostrating/ bowing humbly, We will forgive for you your sins. We will increase ˹the reward of˺ the good-doers.”
161. Wa iz qeela lahumuskunoo haazihil qaryata wa kuloo minhaa haisu shi’tum wa qooloo hittatunw wadkhulul baaba sujjadan naghfir lakum khateee’aatikum; sanazeedul muhsineen
162. فَبَدَّلَ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا مِنْهُمْ قَوْلًا غَيْرَ الَّذِي قِيلَ لَهُمْ فَأَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ رِجْزًا مِنَ السَّمَاءِ بِمَا كَانُوا يَظْلِمُونَ
Fabaddala Al-Ladhīna Žalamū Minhum Qawlāan Ghayra Al-Ladhī Qīla Lahum Fa’arsalnā `Alayhim Rijzāan Mina As-Samā’i Bimā Kānū Yažlimūna
7:162 But those who wronged among them changed the word other than that which was said to them. So We sent upon them punishment from the sky because they were doing wrong.
162. Fabaddalal lazeena zalamoo minhum qawlan ghairal lazee qeela lahum fa arsalnaa ‘alaihim rijzan minas samaaa’i bimaa kaanoo yazlimoon (section 20)
163. وَاسْأَلْهُمْ عَنِ الْقَرْيَةِ الَّتِي كَانَتْ حَاضِرَةَ الْبَحْرِ إِذْ يَعْدُونَ فِي السَّبْتِ إِذْ تَأْتِيهِمْ حِيتَانُهُمْ يَوْمَ سَبْتِهِمْ شُرَّعًا وَيَوْمَ لَا يَسْبِتُونَ ۙ لَا تَأْتِيهِمْ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ نَبْلُوهُمْ بِمَا كَانُوا يَفْسُقُونَ
Wa As’alhum `Ani Al-Qaryati Allatī Kānat Ĥāđirata Al-Baĥri ‘Idh Ya`dūna As-Sabti ‘Idh Ta’tīhim Ĥītānuhum Yawma Sabtihim Shurra`āan Wa Yawma Yasbitūna Ta’tīhim Kadhālika Nablūhum Bimā Kānū Yafsuqūna
7:163 And ask them ˹O Prophet˺ about the town which was situated by the sea, when they transgressed in the ˹matter of˺ Sabbath (i.e. Saturday), when their fish visibly/openly came to them on the day of their Sabbath and on the day they did not had Sabbath ˹the fish˺ did not come to them. Thus We test/ed them because they were defiantly disobeying/ rebellious.

and did not come to them on the day they had no Sabbath
163. Was’alhum ‘anil qaryatil latee kaanat haadiratal bahri iz ya’doona fis Sabti iz ta’teehim heetaanuhum yawma Sabtihim shurra’anw wa yawma laa yasbitoona laa ta’teehim; kazaalika nabloohum bimaa kaanoo yafsuqoon
164. وَإِذْ قَالَتْ أُمَّةٌ مِنْهُمْ لِمَ تَعِظُونَ قَوْمًا ۙ اللَّهُ مُهْلِكُهُمْ أَوْ مُعَذِّبُهُمْ عَذَابًا شَدِيدًا ۖ قَالُوا مَعْذِرَةً إِلَىٰ رَبِّكُمْ وَلَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَّقُونَ
Wa ‘Idh Qālat Ummatun Minhum Lima Ta`ižūna Qawmāan Al-Lahu Muhlikuhum Aw Mu`adhdhibuhum `Adhābāan Shadīdāan Qālū Ma`dhiratan ‘Ilá Rabbikum Wa La`allahum Yattaqūna
7:164 And when a community among them said (to those who tried to preach/warn the Sabbath-breakers), Why do you preach/warn a people (i.e., Sabbath-breakers), whom Allah is going to destroy them or punish them with a severe punishment?” They (i.e., preachers) said,To be absolved/ free from blame/guilt before your Lord and that they may become righteous.”
164. Wa iz qaalat ummatum minhum lima ta’izoona qaw manil laahu muhlikuhum aw mu’azzibuhum ‘azaaban shadeedan qaaloo ma’ziratan ilaa Rabbikum wa la’allahum yattaqoon
165. فَلَمَّا نَسُوا مَا ذُكِّرُوا بِهِ أَنْجَيْنَا الَّذِينَ يَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ السُّوءِ وَأَخَذْنَا الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا بِعَذَابٍ بَئِيسٍ بِمَا كَانُوا يَفْسُقُونَ
Falammā Nasū Dhukkirū Bihi Anjaynā Al-Ladhīna Yanhawna `Ani As-Sū’i Wa ‘Akhadhnā Al-Ladhīna Žalamū Bi`adhābin Ba’īsin Bimā Kānū Yafsuqūna
7:165 So when they forgot what they had been reminded of it, We saved those who forbade/ stopped/ prevented from the evil, and We seized those who wronged with a severe punishment, because they were defiantly disobeying/rebellious.
165. Falammaa nasoo maa zukkiroo bihee anjainal lazeena yanhawna ‘anis sooo’i wa akhaznal lazeena zalamoo bi’azaabim ba’eesim bimaa kaanoo yafsuqoon
166. فَلَمَّا عَتَوْا عَنْ مَا نُهُوا عَنْهُ قُلْنَا لَهُمْ كُونُوا قِرَدَةً خَاسِئِينَ
Falammā `Ataw `An Nuhū `Anhu Qulnā Lahum Kūnū Qiradatan Khāsi’īna
7:166 So when they exceeded all bounds about what they were forbidden from it, We said to them,Be disgraced apes.”
166. Falammaa ‘ataw ‘ammaa nuhoo ‘anhu qulna lahum koonoo qiradatan khaasi’een
167. وَإِذْ تَأَذَّنَ رَبُّكَ لَيَبْعَثَنَّ عَلَيْهِمْ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ مَنْ يَسُومُهُمْ سُوءَ الْعَذَابِ ۗ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَسَرِيعُ الْعِقَابِ ۖ وَإِنَّهُ لَغَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ
Wa ‘Idh Ta’adhdhana Rabbuka Layab`athanna `Alayhim ‘Ilá Yawmi Al-Qiyāmati Man Yasūmuhum Sū’a Al-`Adhābi Inna Rabbaka Lasarī`u Al-`Iqābi Wa ‘Innahu Laghafūrun Raĥīmun
7:167 And ˹remember, O Prophet,˺ when your Lord declared that He would surely send upon them till the Day of the Resurrection those who would afflict them with a grievous punishment. Indeed, your Lord is surely swift/quick in the retribution/penalty/punishment , but indeed, He is surely All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
167. Wa iz ta azzana Rabbuka la yab’asannna ‘alaihim ilaa Yawmil Qiyaamati mai yasoomuhum sooo’al ‘azaab; inna Rabbaka lasaree’ul ‘iqaabi wa innahoo la Ghafoorur Raheem
168. وَقَطَّعْنَاهُمْ فِي الْأَرْضِ أُمَمًا ۖ مِنْهُمُ الصَّالِحُونَ وَمِنْهُمْ دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ ۖ وَبَلَوْنَاهُمْ بِالْحَسَنَاتِ وَالسَّيِّئَاتِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ
Wa Qaţţa`nāhum Al-‘ArđiUmamāan Minhumu Aş-Şāliĥūna Wa Minhum Dūna Dhālika Wa Balawnāhum Bil-Ĥasanāti Wa As-Sayyi’āti La`allahum Yarji`ūna
7:168 And We divided them in the earth as nations. Among them are the righteous and among them are other than that. And We tested them with the good and the bad, so that they may return.
168. Wa qatta’naahum fil ardi umaman min humus saalihoona wa min hum doona zaalika wa balawnaahum bil hasanaati was saiyi’aati la’allahum yarji’oon
169. فَخَلَفَ مِنْ بَعْدِهِمْ خَلْفٌ وَرِثُوا الْكِتَابَ يَأْخُذُونَ عَرَضَ هَٰذَا الْأَدْنَىٰ وَيَقُولُونَ سَيُغْفَرُ لَنَا وَإِنْ يَأْتِهِمْ عَرَضٌ مِثْلُهُ يَأْخُذُوهُ ۚ أَلَمْ يُؤْخَذْ عَلَيْهِمْ مِيثَاقُ الْكِتَابِ أَنْ لَا يَقُولُوا عَلَى اللَّهِ إِلَّا الْحَقَّ وَدَرَسُوا مَا فِيهِ ۗ وَالدَّارُ الْآخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ لِلَّذِينَ يَتَّقُونَ ۗ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ
Fakhalafa Min Ba`dihim Khalfun Warithū Al-Kitāba Ya’khudhūna `Arađa Hādhā Al-‘Adná Wa Yaqūlūna Sayughfaru Lanā Wa ‘In Ya’tihim `Arađun Mithluhu Ya’khudhūhu Alam Yu’ukhadh `Alayhim Mīthāqu Al-KitābiAn Yaqūlū `Alá Al-Lahi ‘Illā Al-Ĥaqqa Wa Darasū Fīhi Wa Ad-Dāru Al-‘Ākhiratu Khayrun Lilladhīna Yattaqūna ‘Afalā Ta`qilūna
7:169 Then from after them succeeded successors who inherited the Book taking temporary gains of this lower life and they say, “It will be forgiven for us. And if temporary gains similar to/ like it comes to them, they will take it. Was the Covenant of the Book not taken from them that they will not say about Allah except the truth and they studied what is in it (i.e., Book)? And the home of the Hereafter is better for those who/ those fear Allah/mindful ˹of Allah˺. So will you not use intellect/ understand?
169. Fakhalafa min ba’dihim khalfunw warisul Kitaaba ya’khuzoona ‘arada haazal adnaa wa yaqooloona sayughfaru lanaa wa iny ya’tihim ‘aradun misluhoo ya’khuzooh; alam yu’khaz ‘alaihim meesaaqul Kitaabi an laa yaqooloo ‘alal laahi illal haqqa wa darasoo maa feeh; wad Daarul Aakhirtu khairul lil lazeena yattaqoon; afalaa ta’qiloon
170. وَالَّذِينَ يُمَسِّكُونَ بِالْكِتَابِ وَأَقَامُوا الصَّلَاةَ إِنَّا لَا نُضِيعُ أَجْرَ الْمُصْلِحِينَ
Wa Al-Ladhīna Yumassikūna Bil-Kitābi Wa ‘Aqāmū Aş-Şalāata ‘Innā Nuđī`u ‘Ajra Al-Muşliĥīna
7:170 And those who hold fast to the Book, and establish the prayer, indeed, We will not waste the reward of the reformers/righteous.
170. Wallazeena yumas sikoona bil Kitaabi wa aqaamus Salaata innaa laa nudeeu’ajral musliheen
171. وَإِذْ نَتَقْنَا الْجَبَلَ فَوْقَهُمْ كَأَنَّهُ ظُلَّةٌ وَظَنُّوا أَنَّهُ وَاقِعٌ بِهِمْ خُذُوا مَا آتَيْنَاكُمْ بِقُوَّةٍ وَاذْكُرُوا مَا فِيهِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ
Wa ‘Idh Nataqnā Al-Jabala Fawqahum Ka’annahu Žullatun Wa ŽannūAnnahu Wāqi`un Bihim Khudhū Ātaynākum Biqūwatin Wa Adhkurū Fīhi La`allakum Tattaqūna
7:171 And ˹remember˺ when We raised the mountain above them as if it was a canopy/covering/ shadow and they thought that it would fall on them, ˹We said,˺ “Take what We have given you with strength and remember what is in it so that you may/become fear Allah/ mindful ˹of Allah˺.”
171. Wa iz nataqnal jabala fawqahum ka annahoo zullatunw wa zannooo annahoo waaqi’un bihim khuzoo maaa aatainaakum biquwwatinw wazkuroo maa feehi la’allakum tattaqoon (section 21)
172. وَإِذْ أَخَذَ رَبُّكَ مِنْ بَنِي آدَمَ مِنْ ظُهُورِهِمْ ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ وَأَشْهَدَهُمْ عَلَىٰ أَنْفُسِهِمْ أَلَسْتُ بِرَبِّكُمْ ۖ قَالُوا بَلَىٰ ۛ شَهِدْنَا ۛ أَنْ تَقُولُوا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ إِنَّا كُنَّا عَنْ هَٰذَا غَافِلِينَ
Wa ‘Idh Akhadha Rabbuka Min Banī Ādama Min Žuhūrihim Dhurrīyatahum Wa ‘Ash/hadahum `Alá Anfusihim Alastu Birabbikum Qālū Balá Shahidnā An Taqūlū Yawma Al-QiyāmatiInnā Kunnā `An Hādhā Ghāfilīna

7:172 And when your Lord took from the Children of Adam from their loins/backbone their descendants (i.e., human race/every soul) and made them testify/ bear witness over/ against themselves, ˹Allah asked,˺ “Am I not your Lord?” They said, “Yes we testify/ bear witness.” ˹He cautioned So you can/do not say on the Day of the Judgement/ Resurrection, “Indeed, we were unaware about this.”

7:172 And when took your Lord from (the) Children (of) Adam from their loinstheir descendants and made them testify over themselves, “Am I not your Lord?” They said, “Yes we have testified.Lest you say (on the) Day (of) the Resurrection, “Indeed, we were about this unaware.”
172. Wa iz akhaza Rabbuka min Baneee Aadama min zuhoorihim zurriyyatahum wa ashhadahum ‘alaa anfusihim alastu bi Rabbikum qaaloo balaa shahidnaaa; an taqooloo Yawmal Qiyaamati innaa kunnaa ‘an haazaa ghaafileen
173. أَوْ تَقُولُوا إِنَّمَا أَشْرَكَ آبَاؤُنَا مِنْ قَبْلُ وَكُنَّا ذُرِّيَّةً مِنْ بَعْدِهِمْ ۖ أَفَتُهْلِكُنَا بِمَا فَعَلَ الْمُبْطِلُونَ
Aw Taqūlū Innamā Ashraka Ābā’uunā Min Qablu Wa Kunnā Dhurrīyatan Min Ba`dihimAfatuhlikunā Bimā Fa`ala Al-Mubţilūna
7:173 Or you say, “it was only our forefathers from before us, that associated partners ˹with Allah in worship˺ and we are descendants from after them. So will You destroy us for what the falsifiers did/have done?”
173. Aw taqoolooo innamaaa ashraka aabaaa ‘unaa min qablu wa kunnaa zurriyyatan min ba’dihim ‘a fa tuhlikunaa bi maa fa’alal mubtiloon
174. وَكَذَٰلِكَ نُفَصِّلُ الْآيَاتِ وَلَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ
Wa Kadhalika Nufaşşilu Al-‘Āyāti Wa La`allahum Yarji`ūna
7:174 And thus We explain the Verses so that they may return ˹to the Truth/Right Path˺. 
174. Wa kazaalika nufassilul Aayaati wa la’allahum yarji’oon
175. وَاتْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ نَبَأَ الَّذِي آتَيْنَاهُ آيَاتِنَا فَانْسَلَخَ مِنْهَا فَأَتْبَعَهُ الشَّيْطَانُ فَكَانَ مِنَ الْغَاوِينَ
Wa Atlu `Alayhim Naba’a Al-LadhīĀtaynāhu Āyātinā Fānsalakha Minhā Fa’atba`ahu Ash-Shayţānu Fakāna Mina Al-Ghāwīna
7:175 And recite to them ˹O Prophet˺ the story of the one whom We gave him Our Verses/Signs, but he detached/ slipped off from them/it, so the Satan followed him and he became of those gone astray.
175. Watlu ‘alaihim naba allazeee aatainaahu Aayaatinaa fansalakha minhaa fa atba’a hush Shaytaanoo fakaana minal ghaaween
176. وَلَوْ شِئْنَا لَرَفَعْنَاهُ بِهَا وَلَٰكِنَّهُ أَخْلَدَ إِلَى الْأَرْضِ وَاتَّبَعَ هَوَاهُ ۚ فَمَثَلُهُ كَمَثَلِ الْكَلْبِ إِنْ تَحْمِلْ عَلَيْهِ يَلْهَثْ أَوْ تَتْرُكْهُ يَلْهَثْ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ مَثَلُ الْقَوْمِ الَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا ۚ فَاقْصُصِ الْقَصَصَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ
Wa Law Shi’nā Larafa`nāhu Bihā Wa LakinnahuAkhlada Ilá Al-‘Arđi Wa Attaba`a Hawāhu Famathaluhu Kamathali Al-KalbiIn Taĥmil `Alayhi Yalhath Aw Tatruk/hu Yalhath Dhālika Mathalu Al-Qawmi Al-Ladhīna Kadhdhabū Bi’āyātinā Fāqşuşi Al-Qaşaşa La`allahum Yatafakkarūna
7:176 And if We had willed, surely We could have raised/elevated him with it (i.e., Signs), but he adhered/inclined to the earth and followed his desires. So his example is like the example of the dog, if you attack at it/him, he lolls out his tongue/he pants/ it pants or if you leave him, he lolls out his tongue/he pants/ it pants. That is the example of the people who denied/deny in/with Our Signs. So relate/ narrate ˹to them˺ the story ˹of the past˺ so that they may reflect (i.e., think carefully).
176. Wa law shi’naa larafa’naahu bihaa wa laakin nahooo akhlada ilal ardi wattaba’a hawaah; famasaluhoo kamasalil kalbi in tahmil ‘alaihi yalhas aw tatruk hu yalhas; zaalika masalul qawmil lazeena kazzaboo bi Aayaatinaa; faqsusil qasasa la’allahum yatafakkaroon
177. سَاءَ مَثَلًا الْقَوْمُ الَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا وَأَنْفُسَهُمْ كَانُوا يَظْلِمُونَ
Sā’a Mathalāan Al-Qawmu Al-Ladhīna Kadhdhabū Bi’āyātinā Wa ‘Anfusahum Kānū Yažlimūna
7:177 Evil as an example are the people those who denied Our Signs and they used to wrong themselves/ their souls.
177. Saaa’a masalanil qawmul lazeena kazzaboo bi Aayaatinaa wa anfusahum kaanoo yazlimoon
178. مَنْ يَهْدِ اللَّهُ فَهُوَ الْمُهْتَدِي ۖ وَمَنْ يُضْلِلْ فَأُولَٰئِكَ هُمُ الْخَاسِرُونَ
Man Yahdi Al-Lahu Fahuwa Al-Muhtadī Wa Man Yuđlil Fa’ūlā’ika Humu Al-Khāsirūna
7:178 Whoever Allah guides, then he is the guided one, and whoever He lets go astray, then those, they are the losers.
178. Mai yahdil laahu fa huwal muhtadee wa mai yudlil fa ulaaa’ika humul khaasiroon
179. وَلَقَدْ ذَرَأْنَا لِجَهَنَّمَ كَثِيرًا مِنَ الْجِنِّ وَالْإِنْسِ ۖ لَهُمْ قُلُوبٌ لَا يَفْقَهُونَ بِهَا وَلَهُمْ أَعْيُنٌ لَا يُبْصِرُونَ بِهَا وَلَهُمْ آذَانٌ لَا يَسْمَعُونَ بِهَا ۚ أُولَٰئِكَ كَالْأَنْعَامِ بَلْ هُمْ أَضَلُّ ۚ أُولَٰئِكَ هُمُ الْغَافِلُونَ
Wa Laqad Dhara’nā Lijahannama Kathīrāan Mina Al-Jinni Wa Al-‘Insi Lahum Qulūbun Yafqahūna Bihā Wa Lahum ‘A`yunun Yubşirūna Bihā Wa LahumĀdhānun Yasma`ūna Bihā Ūlā’ika Kāl’an`āmi Bal Hum Ađallu ‘Ūlā’ika Humu Al-Ghāfilūna
7:179 And certainly We have created many of the jinn and men/humankind for Hell. They have hearts they do not understand with them, and they have eyes they do not see with them, and they have ears they do not hear with them. Those are like cattle, but/ rather they are more astray. Those they are the heedless/ neglectful/ neglecting/ unaware.
179. Wa laqad zara’naa li jahannama kaseeran minal jinni wal insi lahum quloobul laa yafqahoona bihaa wa lahum a’yunul laa yubisiroona bihaa wa lahum aazaanul laa yasma’oona bihaa; ulaaa’ika kal an’aami bal hum adall; ulaaa’ika humul ghaafiloon
180. وَلِلَّهِ الْأَسْمَاءُ الْحُسْنَىٰ فَادْعُوهُ بِهَا ۖ وَذَرُوا الَّذِينَ يُلْحِدُونَ فِي أَسْمَائِهِ ۚ سَيُجْزَوْنَ مَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ
Wa Lillahi Al-‘Asmā’u Al-Ĥusná Fād`ūhu Bihā Wa Dharū Al-Ladhīna Yulĥidūna ‘Asmā’ihi Sayujzawna Kānū Ya`malūna
7:180 And for/to Allah belongs the most beautiful names, so invoke/call upon (i.e., supplicate) Him by them (i.e., the most beautiful names). And leave those who deviate/distort concerning His names. They will be recompensed/ compensated/ punished (i.e., punished) for what they used to do.
180. Wa lillaahil Asmaaa ‘ul Husnaa fad’oohu bihaa wa zarul lazeena yulhidoona feee Asmaaa’ih; sa yujzawna maa kaanoo ya’maloon
181. وَمِمَّنْ خَلَقْنَا أُمَّةٌ يَهْدُونَ بِالْحَقِّ وَبِهِ يَعْدِلُونَ
Wa Mimman Khalaqnā Ummatun Yahdūna Bil-Ĥaqqi Wa Bihi Ya`dilūna

7:181 And among those whom We have created is a nation, who guides (others in accordance) with the truth and they establish justice thereby/ with it.

182. وَالَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا سَنَسْتَدْرِجُهُمْ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
Wa Al-Ladhīna Kadhdhabū Bi’āyātinā Sanastadrijuhum Min Ĥaythu Ya`lamūna
7:182 But those who deny/reject Our Signs, We will gradually lead them ˹to destruction˺ from where they do/will not know.

183. وَأُمْلِي لَهُمْ ۚ إِنَّ كَيْدِي مَتِينٌ
Wa ‘Umlī Lahum Inna Kaydī Matīnun

7:183 And I will give time (i.e., delay for a while/ sufficient time) to them. Indeed, My plan is firm/ strong.

183. Wa umlee lahum; inna kaidee mateen
184. أَوَلَمْ يَتَفَكَّرُوا ۗ مَا بِصَاحِبِهِمْ مِنْ جِنَّةٍ ۚ إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا نَذِيرٌ مُبِينٌ
Awalam Yatafakkarū Bişāĥibihim Min Jinnatin In Huwa Illā Nadhīrun Mubīnun
7:184 Have they not given it a thought? There is not/ nothing of any madness/ the hidden ones in/about/ with their companion. he is not/only, but a clear warner.

185. أَوَلَمْ يَنْظُرُوا فِي مَلَكُوتِ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا خَلَقَ اللَّهُ مِنْ شَيْءٍ وَأَنْ عَسَىٰ أَنْ يَكُونَ قَدِ اقْتَرَبَ أَجَلُهُمْ ۖ فَبِأَيِّ حَدِيثٍ بَعْدَهُ يُؤْمِنُونَ
Awalam Yanžurū Malakūti As-Samāwāti Wa Al-‘Arđi Wa Mā Khalaqa Al-Lahu Min Shay’in Wa ‘An `Asá An Yakūna Qadi Aqtaraba Ajaluhum Fabi’ayyi Ĥadīthin Ba`dahu Yu’uminūna
7:185 Do they not look in the dominion/kingdom of the heavens and the earth and what/ whatever Allah has created of every thing and that perhaps/ it maybe that their term/time has/is verily/certainly come near/ approaching/ near? So/Then in what statement/revelation/message after this ˹Quran˺ will they believe?

185. Awalam yanzuroo fee malakootis samaawaati wal ardi wa maa khalaqal laahu min shai’inw wa an ‘asaaa ai yakoona qadiqtaraba ajaluhum fa bi ayyi hadeesin ba’dahoo yu’minoon
186. مَنْ يُضْلِلِ اللَّهُ فَلَا هَادِيَ لَهُ ۚ وَيَذَرُهُمْ فِي طُغْيَانِهِمْ يَعْمَهُونَ
Man Yuđlili Al-Lahu Falā Hādiya Lahu Wa Yadharuhum Ţughyānihim Ya`mahūna
7:186 Whoever/ Whomsoever Allah lets go astray, then there is no guide for him. And He leaves them in their transgression/ exceeding limits, wandering/roaming/ journeying blindly.

187. يَسْأَلُونَكَ عَنِ السَّاعَةِ أَيَّانَ مُرْسَاهَا ۖ قُلْ إِنَّمَا عِلْمُهَا عِنْدَ رَبِّي ۖ لَا يُجَلِّيهَا لِوَقْتِهَا إِلَّا هُوَ ۚ ثَقُلَتْ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۚ لَا تَأْتِيكُمْ إِلَّا بَغْتَةً ۗ يَسْأَلُونَكَ كَأَنَّكَ حَفِيٌّ عَنْهَا ۖ قُلْ إِنَّمَا عِلْمُهَا عِنْدَ اللَّهِ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
Yas’alūnaka `Ani As-Sā`ati Ayyāna Mursāhā Qul Innamā `Ilmuhā `Inda Rabbī Yujallīhā Liwaqtihā Illā Huwa Thaqulat As-Samāwāti Wa Al-‘Arđi Ta’tīkumIllā Baghtatan Yas’alūnaka Ka’annaka Ĥafīyun `Anhā Qul Innamā `Ilmuhā `Inda Al-Lahi Wa LakinnaAkthara An-Nāsi Ya`lamūna
7:187 They ask you ˹O Prophet˺ about the Hour, when will be its appointed time/ when is its arrival? Say, “Its knowledge is only with my Lord, none can reveal it at/on/in/to its time except Him. It lays/loaded heavily in the heavens and the earth. It will not come to/upon you except suddenly/unexpectedly/ by surprise.” They ask you as if you were well informed about it. Say, “Its knowledge is only with Allah, but most of the people do not know.”
187. Yas’aloonaka ‘anis Saa’ati aiyaana mursaahaa qul innamaa ‘ilmuhaa ‘inda Rabbee laa yujalleehaa liwaqtihaaa illaa Hoo; saqulat fis samaawaati wal ard; laa ta’teekum illaa baghtah; yas’aloonaka ka annaka hafiyyun ‘anhaa qul innamaa ‘ilmuhaa ‘indal laahi wa laakinna aksaran naasi laa ya’lamoon
188. قُلْ لَا أَمْلِكُ لِنَفْسِي نَفْعًا وَلَا ضَرًّا إِلَّا مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ ۚ وَلَوْ كُنْتُ أَعْلَمُ الْغَيْبَ لَاسْتَكْثَرْتُ مِنَ الْخَيْرِ وَمَا مَسَّنِيَ السُّوءُ ۚ إِنْ أَنَا إِلَّا نَذِيرٌ وَبَشِيرٌ لِقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ
Qul Amliku Linafsī Naf`āan Wa Lā Đarrāan Illā Shā’a Al-Lahu Wa Law Kuntu A`lamu Al-Ghayba Lāstakthartu Mina Al-Khayri Wa Mā Massaniya As-Sū’u In Anā Illā Nadhīrun Wa Bashīrun Liqawmin Yu’uminūna

7:188 Say, “I have no power for myself to benefit and no power to harm/ nor to harm, except what Allah Wills. And if I would know the unseen, surely I would have multiplied/ acquired much/ accumulated a lot/ increased/ abundance of the good and the evil would not have touched me. I am not except a warner and a bearer/deliverer of good news to a people who believe.”

7:188 Say, “I have no power for myself to benefit and no power to harm/ nor to harm, except what Allah Wills. And if I would know the unseen, surely I would have multiplied/ acquired much/ accumulated a lot/ increased/ abundance of the good and no evil would have touched me. 7:188 Say, “I have no power to benefit and no power to harm for myself, except what Allah Wills. And if I would know the unseen, I would have increased of/from the good and the evil would not have touched me. I am not except a warner and a bearer/deliverer of good tidings/news to a people who believe.”

188. Qul laaa amliku linafsee naf’anw wa laa darran illaa maa shaaa’al laah; wa law kuntu a’lamul ghaiba lastaksartu minal khairi wa maa massaniyas soo’; in ana illaa nazeerunw wa basheerul liqawminy yu’minoon (section 23)
189. هُوَ الَّذِي خَلَقَكُمْ مِنْ نَفْسٍ وَاحِدَةٍ وَجَعَلَ مِنْهَا زَوْجَهَا لِيَسْكُنَ إِلَيْهَا ۖ فَلَمَّا تَغَشَّاهَا حَمَلَتْ حَمْلًا خَفِيفًا فَمَرَّتْ بِهِ ۖ فَلَمَّا أَثْقَلَتْ دَعَوَا اللَّهَ رَبَّهُمَا لَئِنْ آتَيْتَنَا صَالِحًا لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الشَّاكِرِينَ
Huwa Al-Ladhī Khalaqakum Min Nafsin Wāĥidatin Wa Ja`ala Minhā Zawjahā Liyaskuna Ilayhā Falammā Taghashshāhā Ĥamalat Ĥamlāan Khafīfāan Famarrat Bihi Falammā Athqalat Da`awā Al-Laha Rabbahumā La’in Ātaytanā Şāliĥāan Lanakūnanna Mina Ash-Shākirīna
7:189 He ˹Allah˺ is the One Who created you from a single soul, and made from it, its mate/spouse, that he might live with her. And when he covers her (i.e.,  becomes intimate), she carries a light burden and continues with it. But when she grows heavy, they both invoke/call upon/prayed to Allah, their Lord,If You give us a righteous ˹child˺, surely we will be among the thankful/grateful.”
189. Huwal lazee khalaqakum min nafsinw waahidatinw wa ja’ala minhaa zawjahaa liyas kuna ilaihaa falammaa taghash shaahaa hamalat hamlan khafeefan famarrat bihee falammaaa asqalad da’a wallaaha Rabbahumaa la’in aataitana saalihal lanakoonanna minash shaakireen
190. فَلَمَّا آتَاهُمَا صَالِحًا جَعَلَا لَهُ شُرَكَاءَ فِيمَا آتَاهُمَا ۚ فَتَعَالَى اللَّهُ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ
Falammā Ātāhumā Şāliĥāan Ja`alā Lahu Shurakā’a Fīmā Ātāhumā Fata`ālá Al-Lahu `Ammā Yushrikūna
7:190 But when He ˹Allah˺ gives them a good ˹child˺, they make/set/made partners for/with Him ˹Allah˺ in what He ˹Allah˺ has given them. But Allah is High above what they associate ˹with Him˺.
190. Falammaaa aataahumaa saalihan ja’alaa lahoo shurakaaa’a feemaaa aataahumaa; fata’aalal laahu ‘ammaa yushrikoon
191. أَيُشْرِكُونَ مَا لَا يَخْلُقُ شَيْئًا وَهُمْ يُخْلَقُونَ
Ayushrikūna Yakhluqu Shay’āan Wa Hum Yukhlaqūna
7:191 Do they associate ˹with Allah˺ those ˹partners˺ which can not create anything, and they ˹themselves˺ are created/ and they are ˹themselves˺ created;
191. A yushrikoona maa laa yakhluqu shai’anw wa hum yukhlaqoon
192. وَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ لَهُمْ نَصْرًا وَلَا أَنْفُسَهُمْ يَنْصُرُونَ
Wa Lā Yastaţī`ūna Lahum Naşrāan Wa LāAnfusahum Yanşurūna
7:192 and they (i.e., partners) are not able to ˹give˺ them any help, and nor can they help themselves.
192. Wa laa yastatee’oona lahum nasranw wa laaa anfusahum yansuroon
193. وَإِنْ تَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَى الْهُدَىٰ لَا يَتَّبِعُوكُمْ ۚ سَوَاءٌ عَلَيْكُمْ أَدَعَوْتُمُوهُمْ أَمْ أَنْتُمْ صَامِتُونَ
Wa ‘In Tad`ūhum ‘Ilá Al-Hudá Yattabi`ūkum Sawā’un `Alaykum Ada`awtumūhumAm Antum Şāmitūna
7:193 And if you call them to/for the guidance, they will not follow you. It is same for you whether you call them or you remain silent.
193. Wa in tad’oohum ilalhudaa laa yattabi’ookum; sawaaa’un ‘alaikum a-da’awtumoohum ‘am antum saamitoon
194. إِنَّ الَّذِينَ تَدْعُونَ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ عِبَادٌ أَمْثَالُكُمْ ۖ فَادْعُوهُمْ فَلْيَسْتَجِيبُوا لَكُمْ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ صَادِقِينَ
‘Inna Al-Ladhīna Tad`ūna Min Dūni Al-Lahi `Ibādun Amthālukum Fād`ūhum Falyastajībū Lakum ‘In Kuntum Şādiqīna
7:194 Indeed, those ˹partners˺ whom you call from besides Allah are slaves/servants like you. So invoke/call upon them and let them respond to you, if you are truthful.
194. Innal lazeena tad’oona min doonil laahi ‘ibaadun amsaalukum fad’oohum fal yastajeeboo lakum in kuntum saadiqeen
195. أَلَهُمْ أَرْجُلٌ يَمْشُونَ بِهَا ۖ أَمْ لَهُمْ أَيْدٍ يَبْطِشُونَ بِهَا ۖ أَمْ لَهُمْ أَعْيُنٌ يُبْصِرُونَ بِهَا ۖ أَمْ لَهُمْ آذَانٌ يَسْمَعُونَ بِهَا ۗ قُلِ ادْعُوا شُرَكَاءَكُمْ ثُمَّ كِيدُونِ فَلَا تُنْظِرُونِ
Alahum Arjulun Yamshūna Bihā Am Lahum Aydin Yabţishūna Bihā ‘Am Lahum ‘A`yunun Yubşirūna Bihā Am Lahum Ādhānun Yasma`ūna Bihā Quli Ad`ū Shurakā’akum Thumma Kīdūni Falā Tunžirūni
7:195 Do they have feet to walk with it, or they have hands to hold with it, or they have eyes to see with it, or they have ears to hear with it? Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “Call your partners (i.e., false deities/gods), then scheme/conspire against me and do not give me respite/delay/wait for me (i.e., postponement).”
195. ‘A lahum arjuluny yamshoona bihaa ‘am lahum ‘aidiny yabtishoona bihaaa ‘am lahum a’yunuy yubsiroona bihaaa ‘am lahum aazaanuny yasma’oona bihaa; qulid’oo shurakaaa’akum thumma keedooni falaa tunziroon
196. إِنَّ وَلِيِّيَ اللَّهُ الَّذِي نَزَّلَ الْكِتَابَ ۖ وَهُوَ يَتَوَلَّى الصَّالِحِينَ
‘Inna Walīyiya Al-Lahu Al-Ladhī Nazzala Al-Kitāba Wa Huwa Yatawallá Aş-Şāliĥīna
7:196 Indeed, my protector is Allah, the One Who has revealed/sent down the Book. And He protects the righteous.
196. Inna waliyyial laahul lazee nazzalal Kitaaba wa Huwa yatawallas saaliheen
197. وَالَّذِينَ تَدْعُونَ مِنْ دُونِهِ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ نَصْرَكُمْ وَلَا أَنْفُسَهُمْ يَنْصُرُونَ
Wa Al-Ladhīna Tad`ūna Min Dūnihi Yastaţī`ūna Naşrakum Wa LāAnfusahum Yanşurūna
7:197 And those (i.e., false deities/gods) whom you invoke/call upon from besides Him˹Allah˺, they are not able to help you and nor can they help themselves.
197. Wallazeena tad’oona min doonihee laa yastatee’oona nasrakum wa laaa anfusahum yansuroon
198. وَإِنْ تَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَى الْهُدَىٰ لَا يَسْمَعُوا ۖ وَتَرَاهُمْ يَنْظُرُونَ إِلَيْكَ وَهُمْ لَا يُبْصِرُونَ
Wa ‘In Tad`ūhum ‘Ilá Al-Hudá Yasma`ū Wa Tarāhum Yanžurūna Ilayka Wa Hum Yubşirūna
7:198 And if you call them for/to the guidance they do not hear. And you see them looking at you but they do not see.
198. Wa in tad’oohum ilal hudaa laa yasma’oo wa taraahum yanzuroona ilaika wa hum laa yubsiroon
199. خُذِ الْعَفْوَ وَأْمُرْ بِالْعُرْفِ وَأَعْرِضْ عَنِ الْجَاهِلِينَ
Khudhi Al-`Afwa Wa ‘Mur Bil-`Urfi Wa ‘A`riđ `Ani Al-Jāhilīna
7:199 Hold to forgiveness and enjoin/command the good/right, and turn away from the ignorant.

199. Khuzil ‘afwa wa mur bil’urfi wa A’rid ‘anil jaahileen
200. وَإِمَّا يَنْزَغَنَّكَ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ نَزْغٌ فَاسْتَعِذْ بِاللَّهِ ۚ إِنَّهُ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ
Wa ‘Immā Yanzaghannaka Mina Ash-Shayţāni Nazghun Fāsta`idh Bil-LahiInnahu Samī`un `Alīmun
7:200 And if an evil suggestion/ a whisper comes to you/ an evil whisper comes to you from the Satan as an evil suggestion, then seek refuge (i.e., protection) in Allah. Indeed, He is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.
200. Wa immaa yanzaghannaka minash Shaitaani nazghun fasta’iz billaah; innahoo Samee’un Aleem
201. إِنَّ الَّذِينَ اتَّقَوْا إِذَا مَسَّهُمْ طَائِفٌ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ تَذَكَّرُوا فَإِذَا هُمْ مُبْصِرُونَ
‘Inna Al-Ladhīna Attaqaw ‘Idhā Massahum Ţā’ifun Mina Ash-Shayţāni Tadhakkarū Fa’idhā Hum Mubşirūna
7:201 Indeed, those who are mindful ˹of Allah˺, when an evil thought touches them/comes to them from the Satan, they remember ˹Allah˺ and then they are those who see ˹things clearly˺.
201. Innal lazeenat taqaw izaa massahum taaa’ifun minash Shaitaani tazakkaroo fa izaa hum mubsiroon
202. وَإِخْوَانُهُمْ يَمُدُّونَهُمْ فِي الْغَيِّ ثُمَّ لَا يُقْصِرُونَ
Wa ‘Ikhwānuhum Yamuddūnahum Al-Ghayyi Thumma Yuqşirūna
7:202 But their brothers, they draw them in the error, then they do not cease/stop  .
202. Wa ikhwaanuhum yamuddoonahum fil ghayyi thumma laa yuqsiroon
203. وَإِذَا لَمْ تَأْتِهِمْ بِآيَةٍ قَالُوا لَوْلَا اجْتَبَيْتَهَا ۚ قُلْ إِنَّمَا أَتَّبِعُ مَا يُوحَىٰ إِلَيَّ مِنْ رَبِّي ۚ هَٰذَا بَصَائِرُ مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ وَهُدًى وَرَحْمَةٌ لِقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ
Wa ‘Idhā Lam Ta’tihim Bi’āyatin Qālū Lawlā Ajtabaytahā Qul Innamā ‘Attabi`u Yūĥá Ilayya Min Rabbī Hādhā Başā’iru Min Rabbikum Wa Hudáan Wa Raĥmatun Liqawmin Yu’uminūna
7:203 And when you ˹O Prophet˺ do not bring them a Sign ˹which they demanded˺, they say,Why do/have you not devised/make/brought/chosen (i.e., invented) it?” Say,I only follow what is revealed to me from my Lord. This ˹Quran˺ is an enlightenment/insight from your Lord and guidance and mercy for a people who believe.
203. Wa izaa lam ta’tihim bi aayatin qaaloo law lajtabai tahaa; qul innamaaa attabi’u maa yoohaaa ilaiya mir Rabbee; haazaa basaaa’iru mir Rabbikum wa hudanw wa rahmatul liqawminy yu’minoon
204. وَإِذَا قُرِئَ الْقُرْآنُ فَاسْتَمِعُوا لَهُ وَأَنْصِتُوا لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ
Wa ‘Idhā Quri’a Al-Qur’ānu Fāstami`ū Lahu Wa ‘Anşitū La`allakum Turĥamūna
7:204 And when the Quran is recited, then listen to it attentively and be silent so that you may receive/ be shown mercy.
204. Wa izaa quri’al Quraanu fastami’oo lahoo wa ansitoo la ‘allakum turhamoon
205. وَاذْكُرْ رَبَّكَ فِي نَفْسِكَ تَضَرُّعًا وَخِيفَةً وَدُونَ الْجَهْرِ مِنَ الْقَوْلِ بِالْغُدُوِّ وَالْآصَالِ وَلَا تَكُنْ مِنَ الْغَافِلِينَ
Wa Adhkur Rabbaka Nafsika Tađarru`āan Wa Khīfatan Wa Dūna Al-Jahri Mina Al-Qawli Bil-Ghudūwi Wa Al-‘Āşāli Wa Lā Takun Mina Al-Ghāfilīna
7:205 And remember your Lord in yourself humbly/humility and in fear and without the loudness of the words (i.e, moderate tone of voice), in the morning/s and in the evenings. And do not be among the heedless.

205. Wazkur Rabbaka fee nafsika tadarru’anw wa kheefatanw wa doonal jahri minal qawli bilghuduwwi wal aasali wa laa takum minal ghaafileen
206. إِنَّ الَّذِينَ عِنْدَ رَبِّكَ لَا يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ عَنْ عِبَادَتِهِ وَيُسَبِّحُونَهُ وَلَهُ يَسْجُدُونَ ۩
‘Inna Al-Ladhīna `Inda Rabbika Yastakbirūna `An `Ibādatihi Wa Yusabbiĥūnahu Wa Lahu Yasjudūna
7:206 Indeed, those who are near your Lord, they do not turn away in pride from His worship. And they glorify Him and they prostrate to Him.
206. Innal lazeena ‘inda Rabbika laa yastakbiroona ‘an ‘ibaadatihee wa yusabbihoonahoo wa lahoo yasjudoon (section 24) (make sajda)
