8. Surah Al-Anfal

1. يَسْأَلُونَكَ عَنِ الْأَنْفَالِ ۖ قُلِ الْأَنْفَالُ لِلَّهِ وَالرَّسُولِ ۖ فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَصْلِحُوا ذَاتَ بَيْنِكُمْ ۖ وَأَطِيعُوا اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ مُؤْمِنِينَ
Yas’alūnaka `Ani Al-‘Anfāl Quli Al-‘Anfāli Lillahi Wa Ar-Rasūli Fa Attaqū Al-Laha Wa ‘Aşliĥū Dhāta Baynikum Wa ‘Aţī`ū Al-Laha Wa Rasūlahu ‘In Kuntum Mu’uminīna
8:1  They ask you ˹O Prophet˺ about the spoils of war. Say, “The spoils of war are for Allah and the Messenger. So fear Allah and set/make things right that which is between you and obey Allah and His Messenger, if you are believers.”
1. Yas’aloonaka ‘anil anfaali qulil anfaalu lillaahi war Rasooli fattaqul laaha wa aslihoo zaata bainikum wa atee’ul laaha wa Rasoolahooo in kuntum mu’mineen
2. إِنَّمَا الْمُؤْمِنُونَ الَّذِينَ إِذَا ذُكِرَ اللَّهُ وَجِلَتْ قُلُوبُهُمْ وَإِذَا تُلِيَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ آيَاتُهُ زَادَتْهُمْ إِيمَانًا وَعَلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ يَتَوَكَّلُونَ
Innamā Al-Mu’uminūna Al-LadhīnaIdhā Dhukira Al-Lahu Wajilat Qulūbuhum Wa ‘Idhā Tuliyat `Alayhim Āyātuhu Zādat/humĪmānāan Wa `Alá Rabbihim Yatawakkalūna
8:2 The believers are only those who, when Allah is mentioned, their hearts feel fear/trembles, and when His Verses are recited to them, they increase them in faith, and upon their Lord they put their trust/and they put their trust upon their Lord.
2. Innamal mu’minoonal lazeena izaa zukiral laahu wajilat quloobuhum wa izaa tuliyat ‘alaihim Aayaatuhoo zaadat hum eemaananw wa ‘alaa Rabbihim yatawakkaloon
3. الَّذِينَ يُقِيمُونَ الصَّلَاةَ وَمِمَّا رَزَقْنَاهُمْ يُنْفِقُونَ
Al-Ladhīna Yuqīmūna Aş-Şalāata Wa Mimmā Razaqnāhum Yunfiqūna
8:3  Those who establish the prayer and they spend from what/out of what We have provided them.
3. Allazeena yuqeemoonas Salaata wa mimmaa razaqnaahum yunfiqoon
4. أُولَٰئِكَ هُمُ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ حَقًّا ۚ لَهُمْ دَرَجَاتٌ عِنْدَ رَبِّهِمْ وَمَغْفِرَةٌ وَرِزْقٌ كَرِيمٌ
Ūlā’ika Humu Al-Mu’uminūna Ĥaqqāan Lahum Darajātun `Inda Rabbihim Wa Maghfiratun Wa Rizqun Karīmun
8:4  Those they are the true believers. For them are ranks with their Lord and forgiveness and a noble provision.
4. Ulaaa’ika humul mu’minoona haqqaa; lahum darajaatun ‘inda Rabbihim wa magh firatunw wa rizqun kareem
5. كَمَا أَخْرَجَكَ رَبُّكَ مِنْ بَيْتِكَ بِالْحَقِّ وَإِنَّ فَرِيقًا مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ لَكَارِهُونَ
Kamā Akhrajaka Rabbuka Min Baytika Bil-Ĥaqqi Wa ‘Inna Farīqāan Mina Al-Mu’uminīna Lakārihūna
8:5 Just As/ your Lord brought you ˹O Prophet˺ out from your home [for the battle of Badr] in truth, while indeed, a party among the believers certainly disliked it.
5. Kaamaaa akhrajaka Rabbuka mim baitika bilhaqq; wa inna fareeqam minal mu’mineena lakaarihoon
6. يُجَادِلُونَكَ فِي الْحَقِّ بَعْدَمَا تَبَيَّنَ كَأَنَّمَا يُسَاقُونَ إِلَى الْمَوْتِ وَهُمْ يَنْظُرُونَ
Yujādilūnaka Al-Ĥaqqi Ba`damā Tabayyana Ka’annamā Yusāqūna ‘Ilá Al-Mawti Wa Hum Yanžurūna
8:6  They dispute with you concerning the truth after what/it was/had been made clear, as if they were being driven to/towards death while they were looking ˹at it˺.
6. Yujaadiloonaka fil haqqi ba’da maa tabaiyana ka’annamaa yasaaqoona ilal mawti wa hum yanzuroon
7. وَإِذْ يَعِدُكُمُ اللَّهُ إِحْدَى الطَّائِفَتَيْنِ أَنَّهَا لَكُمْ وَتَوَدُّونَ أَنَّ غَيْرَ ذَاتِ الشَّوْكَةِ تَكُونُ لَكُمْ وَيُرِيدُ اللَّهُ أَنْ يُحِقَّ الْحَقَّ بِكَلِمَاتِهِ وَيَقْطَعَ دَابِرَ الْكَافِرِينَ
Wa ‘Idh Ya`idukumu Al-Lahu Iĥdá Aţ-Ţā’ifatayniAnnahā Lakum Wa TawaddūnaAnna Ghayra Dhāti Ash-Shawkati Takūnu Lakum Wa Yurīdu Al-Lahu ‘An Yuĥiqqa Al-Ĥaqqa Bikalimātihi Wa Yaqţa`a Dābira Al-Kāfirīna
8:7 And ˹Remember, O believers,˺ when Allah promised you one of the two ˹enemy˺ groupsthat it ˹should/would be˺ for youand you wished that ˹the one˺ other than that of the armed should/would be for you. But Allah Intended/Willed to justify/establish the truth by His Words, and cut off the roots of the disbelievers
7. Wa iz ya’idukumul laahu ihdat taaa’ifataini annahaa lakum wa tawaddoona anna ghaira zaatish shawkati takoonu lakum wa yureedul laahu ai yuhiqqal haqqa bikalimaatihee wa yaqta’a daabiral kaafireen

8. لِيُحِقَّ الْحَقَّ وَيُبْطِلَ الْبَاطِلَ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ الْمُجْرِمُونَ
Liyuĥiqqa Al-Ĥaqqa Wa Yubţila Al-Bāţila Wa Law Kariha Al-Mujrimūna
8:8 That He ˹Allah˺ might/may justify/establish the truth and prove the falsehood to be false, even if the criminals disliked it.
8. Liyuhiqqal haqqa wa yubtilal baatila wa law karihal mujrimoon
9. إِذْ تَسْتَغِيثُونَ رَبَّكُمْ فَاسْتَجَابَ لَكُمْ أَنِّي مُمِدُّكُمْ بِأَلْفٍ مِنَ الْمَلَائِكَةِ مُرْدِفِينَ
Idh Tastaghīthūna Rabbakum Fāstajāba Lakum Annī Mumiddukum Bi’alfin Mina Al-Malā’ikati Murdifīna
8:9 ˹Remember˺ when you were seeking help of your Lord and He answered to you,Indeed, I am going to reinforce/ help you with a thousand of the Angels one after another.”

8:9 ˹Remember˺ when you asked help of your Lord and He answered you ˹saying˺ “Indeed, I am going to reinforce/ help/ provide you with a thousand of the Angels one after another/following one another.”

9. Iz tastagheesoona Rabbakum fastajaaba lakum annee mumiddukum bi alfim minal malaaa’ikati murdifeen
10. وَمَا جَعَلَهُ اللَّهُ إِلَّا بُشْرَىٰ وَلِتَطْمَئِنَّ بِهِ قُلُوبُكُمْ ۚ وَمَا النَّصْرُ إِلَّا مِنْ عِنْدِ اللَّهِ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٌ
Wa Mā Ja`alahu Al-LahuIllā Bushrá Wa Litaţma’inna Bihi Qulūbukum Wa Mā An-NaşruIllā Min `Indi Al-Lahi Inna Al-Laha `Azīzun Ĥakīmun

8:10  And Allah made it only but good news, and to reassure your hearts with it. And the Help does not come from anywhere/anyone/any except from Allah. Indeed, Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise.

8:10  And Allah made it only but good news, and so that with it your hearts might be at rest. And the Help is not except/but is from/ is from Allah. Indeed, Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise.

And the Help does not come except/but is from/ is from Allah.

8:10  And Allah made it only but good news, and so that might be at rest/ to reassure your hearts with it. And there is no the victory except from (of) Allah. Indeed, Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise.

10. Wa maa ja’alahul laahu illaa bushraa wa litatma’inna bihee quloobukum; wa man nasru illaa min ‘indil laah; innal laaha Azeezun Hakeem (section 1)
11. إِذْ يُغَشِّيكُمُ النُّعَاسَ أَمَنَةً مِنْهُ وَيُنَزِّلُ عَلَيْكُمْ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ مَاءً لِيُطَهِّرَكُمْ بِهِ وَيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمْ رِجْزَ الشَّيْطَانِ وَلِيَرْبِطَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِكُمْ وَيُثَبِّتَ بِهِ الْأَقْدَامَ
‘Idh Yughashshīkumu An-Nu`āsaAmanatan Minhu Wa Yunazzilu `Alaykum Mina As-Samā’i Mā’an Liyuţahhirakum Bihi Wa Yudh/hiba `Ankum Rijza Ash-Shayţāni Wa Liyarbiţa `Alá Qulūbikum Wa Yuthabbita Bihi Al-‘Aqdāma
8:11 ˹Remember˺ when He ˹Allah˺ covered you witha/the drowsiness, as a security from Him, and sent down water upon you from the sky, so that He may purify you with it, and to remove the pollution/evil (i.e., evil suggestions) of the Satan from you. And to strengthen upon/over/on your hearts and make your feet firm with it.

8:11  When He covered you with [the] slumber, a security from Him, and sent down upon you from the sky water, so that He may purify you with it, and take away from you evil (suggestions) (of) the Shaitaan. And to strengthen [on] your hearts and make firm with it your feet.
11. Iz yughashsheekumun nu’assa amanatam minhu wa yunazzilu ‘alaikum minas samaaa’i maaa’al liyutah hirakum bihee wa yuzhiba ‘ankum rijzash Shaitaani wa liyarbita ‘ala quloobikum wa yusabbita bihil aqdaam
12. إِذْ يُوحِي رَبُّكَ إِلَى الْمَلَائِكَةِ أَنِّي مَعَكُمْ فَثَبِّتُوا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا ۚ سَأُلْقِي فِي قُلُوبِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا الرُّعْبَ فَاضْرِبُوا فَوْقَ الْأَعْنَاقِ وَاضْرِبُوا مِنْهُمْ كُلَّ بَنَانٍ
‘Idh Yūĥī Rabbuka Ilá Al-Malā’ikati Annī Ma`akum Fathabbitū Al-LadhīnaĀmanū Sa’ulqī Qulūbi Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Ar-Ru`ba Fāđribū Fawqa Al-‘A`nāqi Wa Ađribū Minhum Kulla Banānin
8:12 ˹Remember, O Prophet,˺ When your Lord ˹Allah˺ revealed to the Angels, I am with you, so strengthen those who believe/d. I will cast/put terror/fear in the hearts of those who disbelieve/d, so strike ˹them˺ above the necks and strike all of their fingertips.”

8:12 ˹Remember, O Prophet,˺ When your Lord ˹Allah˺ revealed to the Angels, I am with you, so strengthen those who believe/d. I will cast terror/fear in the hearts of those who disbelieve/d, so strike ˹them˺ above the necks and strike all fingertips from them/ of theirs.”

8:12 ˹Remember, O Prophet,˺ When your Lord inspired to the Angels, “I am with you, so strengthen those who believed. I will cast in (the) hearts (of) those who disbelieved the terror, so strike above the necks and strike from them every fingertip[s].”

12. Iz yoohee Rabbuka ilal malaaa’ikati annee ma’akum fasabbitul lazeena aamanoo; sa ulqee fee quloobil lazeena kafarur ru’ba fadriboo fawqal a’naaqi wadriboo minhum kulla banaan
13. ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ شَاقُّوا اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ ۚ وَمَنْ يُشَاقِقِ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ شَدِيدُ الْعِقَابِ
Dhālika Bi’annahum Shāqqū Al-Laha Wa Rasūlahu Wa Man Yushāqiqi Al-Laha Wa Rasūlahu Fa’inna Al-Laha Shadīdu Al-`Iqābi
8:13 That is because they opposed Allah and His Messenger. And whoever opposes Allah and His Messenger, then indeed, Allah is severe in penalty.
13. Zaalika bi annahum shaaaqqul laaha wa Rasoolah; wa mai yushaqiqil laaha wa Rasoolahoo fa innal laaha shadeedul ‘iqaab
14. ذَٰلِكُمْ فَذُوقُوهُ وَأَنَّ لِلْكَافِرِينَ عَذَابَ النَّارِ
Dhālikum Fadhūqūhu Wa ‘Anna Lilkāfirīna `Adhāba An-Nāri
8:14  That ˹is your punishment˺– “So taste it.” And indeed/that for the disbelievers is the punishment of the Fire.
14. Zaalikum fazooqoohu wa anna lilkaafireena ‘azaaban Naar
15. يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِذَا لَقِيتُمُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا زَحْفًا فَلَا تُوَلُّوهُمُ الْأَدْبَارَ
Yā ‘Ayyuhā Al-Ladhīna Āmanū Idhā Laqītumu Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Zaĥfāan Falā Tuwallūhumu Al-‘Adbāra
8:15  O you who believe! When you meet those who disbelieve, advancing ˹for/in battle˺, then do not turn your backs to them.
15. Yaaa aiyuhal lazeena aamanoo izaa laqeetumul lazeena kafaroo zahfan falaa tuwalloohumul adbaar
16. وَمَنْ يُوَلِّهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ دُبُرَهُ إِلَّا مُتَحَرِّفًا لِقِتَالٍ أَوْ مُتَحَيِّزًا إِلَىٰ فِئَةٍ فَقَدْ بَاءَ بِغَضَبٍ مِنَ اللَّهِ وَمَأْوَاهُ جَهَنَّمُ ۖ وَبِئْسَ الْمَصِيرُ
Wa Man Yuwallihim Yawma’idhin Duburahu Illā Mutaĥarrifāan Liqitālin Aw Mutaĥayyizāan Ilá Fi’atin Faqad Bā’a Bighađabin Mina Al-Lahi Wa Ma’wāhu Jahannamu Wa Bi’sa Al-Maşīru

8:16  And whoever turns his back to them that day except as a strategy of war or to join to a group ˹of his own˺, certainly draws the wrath/Anger/ displeasure of Allah, and his abode/home is Hell, a wretched/ an evil/ a worst destination.

8:16  And whoever turns to them that day his back except (as) a strategy of war or (to) join to a group, certainly (he has) incurred wrath of Allah and his abode (is) Hell, a wretched destination.
16. Wa mai yuwallihim yawma’izin duburahooo illaa mutaharrifal liqitaalin aw mutahaiyizan ilaa fi’atin faqad baaa’a bighadabim minal laahi wa ma’waahu Jahannamu wa bi’sal maseer

17. فَلَمْ تَقْتُلُوهُمْ وَلَٰكِنَّ اللَّهَ قَتَلَهُمْ ۚ وَمَا رَمَيْتَ إِذْ رَمَيْتَ وَلَٰكِنَّ اللَّهَ رَمَىٰ ۚ وَلِيُبْلِيَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ مِنْهُ بَلَاءً حَسَنًا ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ
Falam Taqtulūhum Wa Lakinna Al-Laha Qatalahum Wa Mā Ramayta ‘Idh Ramayta Wa Lakinna Al-Laha Ramá Wa Liyubliya Al-Mu’uminīna Minhu Balā’an Ĥasanāan ‘Inna Al-Laha Samī`un `Alīmun
8:17 And you ˹believers˺ did not kill them, but Allah killed them. And you did not threw when you threw, but Allah threw and/so that He may test the believers with a good/fair trial from Him. Indeed, Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.
17. Falam taqtuloohum wa laakinnal laaha qatalahum; wa maa ramaita iz ramaita wa laakinnal laaha ramaa; wa liyubliyal mu’mineena minhu balaaa’an hasanaa; innal laaha Samee’un Aleem
18. ذَٰلِكُمْ وَأَنَّ اللَّهَ مُوهِنُ كَيْدِ الْكَافِرِينَ
Dhālikum Wa ‘Anna Al-Laha Mūhinu Kaydi Al-Kāfirīna

8:18  That ˹is so˺ and that/indeed, Allah weakens the disbelievers plan.

18. Zaalikum wa annal laaha moohinu kaidil kaafireen
19. إِنْ تَسْتَفْتِحُوا فَقَدْ جَاءَكُمُ الْفَتْحُ ۖ وَإِنْ تَنْتَهُوا فَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَكُمْ ۖ وَإِنْ تَعُودُوا نَعُدْ وَلَنْ تُغْنِيَ عَنْكُمْ فِئَتُكُمْ شَيْئًا وَلَوْ كَثُرَتْ وَأَنَّ اللَّهَ مَعَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ
‘In Tastaftiĥū Faqad Jā’akumu Al-Fatĥu Wa ‘In Tantahū Fahuwa Khayrun Lakum Wa ‘In Ta`ūdū Na`ud Wa Lan Tughniya `Ankum Fi’atukum Shay’āan Wa Law Kathurat Wa ‘Anna Al-Laha Ma`a Al-Mu’uminīna
8:19  If you (i.e., O disbelievers) ask for victory/decision/ judgement, then certainly the victory/decision/ judgement has come to you. And if you desist/ cease, then it is/ will be good for you, but if you return, We will return. And your forces will never/not benefit you anything, even if they are numerous. And that/indeed Allah is with the believers.
19. In tastaftihoo faqad jaaa’akumul fathu wa in tantahoo fahuwa khairul lakum wa in ta’oodoo na’ud wa lan tughniya ‘ankum fi’atukum shai’anw wa law kasurat wa annal laaha ma’al mu’mineen (section 2)
20. يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَطِيعُوا اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَلَا تَوَلَّوْا عَنْهُ وَأَنْتُمْ تَسْمَعُونَ
Yā ‘Ayyuhā Al-LadhīnaĀmanū Aţī`ū Al-Laha Wa Rasūlahu Wa Lā Tawallaw `Anhu Wa ‘Antum Tasma`ūna
8:20  O you who believe! Obey Allah and His Messenger. And do not turn away from him while you hear.
20. Yaaa aiyuhal lazeena aamanoo atee’ul laaha wa Rasoolahoo wa laa tawallaw ‘anhu wa antum tasma’oon
21. وَلَا تَكُونُوا كَالَّذِينَ قَالُوا سَمِعْنَا وَهُمْ لَا يَسْمَعُونَ
Wa Lā Takūnū Kālladhīna Qālū Sami`nā Wa Hum Yasma`ūna
8:21  And do not be like those who say,We hear/d,while they are/do not hearing/listening/ hear.

8:21  And do not be like those who say,We heard,while they do not hear.
21. Wa laa takoonoo kallazeena qaaloo sami’naa wa hum laa yasma’oon
22. إِنَّ شَرَّ الدَّوَابِّ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ الصُّمُّ الْبُكْمُ الَّذِينَ لَا يَعْقِلُونَ
Inna Sharra Ad-Dawābbi `Inda Al-Lahi Aş-Şummu Al-Bukmu Al-Ladhīna Ya`qilūna
8:22  Indeed, the worst living creatures near (i.e., in the sight of) Allah are the deaf, the dumbthose who do not understand / use their intellect/ reason.
22. Inna sharrad dawaaabbi ‘indal laahis summul bukmul lazeena laa ya’qiloon

23. وَلَوْ عَلِمَ اللَّهُ فِيهِمْ خَيْرًا لَأَسْمَعَهُمْ ۖ وَلَوْ أَسْمَعَهُمْ لَتَوَلَّوْا وَهُمْ مُعْرِضُونَ
Wa Law `Alima Al-Lahu Fīhim Khayrāan La’asma`ahum Wa Law ‘Asma`ahum Latawallaw Wa Hum Mu`riđūna
8:23  And if Allah had known any good in them, surely, He would have made them hear. And if He had made them hear, surely they would have turned away, while they were refusing ˹the truth˺. 

while they are the ones who turn away.
23. Wa law ‘alimal laahu feehim khairal la asma’ahum; wa law asma’ahum latawallaw wa hum mu’ridoon

24. يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اسْتَجِيبُوا لِلَّهِ وَلِلرَّسُولِ إِذَا دَعَاكُمْ لِمَا يُحْيِيكُمْ ۖ وَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّ اللَّهَ يَحُولُ بَيْنَ الْمَرْءِ وَقَلْبِهِ وَأَنَّهُ إِلَيْهِ تُحْشَرُونَ
Yā ‘Ayyuhā Al-Ladhīna Āmanū Astajībū Lillahi Wa LilrrasūliIdhā Da`ākum Limā Yuĥyīkum Wa A`lamū ‘Anna Al-Laha Yaĥūlu Bayna Al-Mar’i Wa Qalbihi Wa ‘AnnahuIlayhi Tuĥsharūna
8:24  O you who believe! Respond to Allah and His Messenger when he calls you to what/ to that which gives you life. And know that Allah comes between a man and his heart, and that you will be gathered to Him.
24. Yaaa aiyuhal lazeena aamanus tajeeboo lillaahi wa lir Rasooli izaa da’aakum limaa yuhyeekum wa’lamooo annal laaha yahoolu bainal mar’i wa qalbihee wa anahooo ilaihi tuhsharoon


25. وَاتَّقُوا فِتْنَةً لَا تُصِيبَنَّ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا مِنْكُمْ خَاصَّةً ۖ وَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّ اللَّهَ شَدِيدُ الْعِقَابِ
Wa Attaqū Fitnatan Tuşībanna Al-Ladhīna Žalamū Minkum Khāşşatan Wa A`lamūAnna Al-Laha Shadīdu Al-`Iqābi
8:25  And fear a trial which will not affect/harm exclusively/specially/ particularly  those who do wrong among you. And know that Allah is severe in the penalty.

25. Wattaqoo fitnatal laa tuseebannal lazeena zalamoo minkum khaaaassatanw wa’lamooo annal laaha shadeedul ‘iqaab


26. وَاذْكُرُوا إِذْ أَنْتُمْ قَلِيلٌ مُسْتَضْعَفُونَ فِي الْأَرْضِ تَخَافُونَ أَنْ يَتَخَطَّفَكُمُ النَّاسُ فَآوَاكُمْ وَأَيَّدَكُمْ بِنَصْرِهِ وَرَزَقَكُمْ مِنَ الطَّيِّبَاتِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ
Wa Adhkurū ‘Idh Antum Qalīlun Mustađ`afūna Al-‘Arđi Takhāfūna ‘An Yatakhaţţafakumu An-Nāsu Fa’āwākum Wa ‘Ayyadakum Binaşrihi Wa Razaqakum Mina Aţ-Ţayyibāti La`allakum Tashkurūna
8:26  And remember when you were few and deemed weak/ oppressed/ weakened/ considered weak/ weak/ helpless/  in the land, fearing that the men/ people might harm you/ might do away with you/ might snatch you away/ might kidnap you, then He sheltered you, and strengthened you with His help, and provided you of the good things so that you may be thankful.

8:26  And remember when you (were) few (and) deemed weak in the earth fearing that might do away with you the men, then He sheltered you, and strengthened you with His help, and provided you of the good things so that you may (be) thankful.
26. Wazkurooo iz antum qaleelum mustad ‘afoona filardi takhaafoona ai yatakhat tafakumun naasu fa aawaakum wa aiyadakum binasrihee wa razaqakum minat taiyibaati la’allakum tashkuroon
27. يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَا تَخُونُوا اللَّهَ وَالرَّسُولَ وَتَخُونُوا أَمَانَاتِكُمْ وَأَنْتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ
Yā ‘Ayyuhā Al-Ladhīna ‘Āmanū Takhūnū Al-Laha Wa Ar-Rasūla Wa Takhūnū Amānātikum Wa ‘Antum Ta`lamūna
8:27  O you who believe! Do not betray Allah and the Messenger, or betray your trusts while you know.
27. Yaaa aiyuhal lazeena aamanoo laa takhoonal laaha war Rasoola wa takhoonooo amaanaatikum wa antum ta’lamoon
28. وَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّمَا أَمْوَالُكُمْ وَأَوْلَادُكُمْ فِتْنَةٌ وَأَنَّ اللَّهَ عِنْدَهُ أَجْرٌ عَظِيمٌ
Wa A`lamūAnnamā Amwālukum Wa ‘Awlādukum Fitnatun Wa ‘Anna Al-Laha `Indahu Ajrun `Ažīmun
8:28  And know that your wealth and your children are a trial/test. And that Allah has/holds/ possesses with Him a great reward.
28. Wa’lamooo annamaaa amwaalukum wa awlaadukum fitnatunw wa annal laaha ‘indahooo ajrun azeem (section 3)
29. يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِنْ تَتَّقُوا اللَّهَ يَجْعَلْ لَكُمْ فُرْقَانًا وَيُكَفِّرْ عَنْكُمْ سَيِّئَاتِكُمْ وَيَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ ۗ وَاللَّهُ ذُو الْفَضْلِ الْعَظِيمِ
Yā ‘Ayyuhā Al-Ladhīna ‘Āmanū ‘In Tattaqū Al-Laha Yaj`al Lakum Furqānāan Wa Yukaffir `Ankum Sayyi’ātikum Wa Yaghfir Lakum Wa Allāhu Dhū Al-Fađli Al-`Ažīmi
8:29  O you who believe! If you fear Allah, He will grant you a criterion ˹to distinguish between right and wrong˺ and will remove from you your evil deeds and forgive you. And Allah is Possessor of the Great Bounty.

And Allah is Possessor of the Great Bounty.

And Allah is the Possessor of Great Bounty.

And Allah Possessor the Bounty, the Great.
29. Yaaa aiyuhal lazeena aamanooo in tattaqul laaha yaj’al lakum furqaananw wa yukaffir ‘ankum saiyi aatikum wa yaghfir lakum; wallaahu zul fadlil ‘azeem
30. وَإِذْ يَمْكُرُ بِكَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لِيُثْبِتُوكَ أَوْ يَقْتُلُوكَ أَوْ يُخْرِجُوكَ ۚ وَيَمْكُرُونَ وَيَمْكُرُ اللَّهُ ۖ وَاللَّهُ خَيْرُ الْمَاكِرِينَ
Wa ‘Idh Yamkuru Bika Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Liyuthbitūka Aw Yaqtulūka ‘Aw Yukhrijūka Wa Yamkurūna Wa Yamkuru Al-Lahu Wa Allāhu Khayru Al-Mākirīna
8:30  And ˹remember, O Prophet,˺ when those who disbelieved plotted against you that they restrain you/ to restrain you/ to capture you,  or kill you or drive you out. And they were planning/plotting and Allah was also planning. And Allah is the Best of Planners.

Yamkuru: plotted

Wa Yamkurūna: and they plotted

Wa Yamkuru:- and Allah also planned
30. Wa iz yamkuru bikal lazeena kafaroo liyusbitooka aw yaqtulooka aw yukhrijook; wa yamkuroona wa yamkurul laahu wallaahu khairul maakireen
31. وَإِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِمْ آيَاتُنَا قَالُوا قَدْ سَمِعْنَا لَوْ نَشَاءُ لَقُلْنَا مِثْلَ هَٰذَا ۙ إِنْ هَٰذَا إِلَّا أَسَاطِيرُ الْأَوَّلِينَ
Wa ‘Idhā Tutlá `Alayhim Āyātunā Qālū Qad Sami`nā Law Nashā’u Laqulnā Mithla Hādhā In Hādhā ‘IllāAsāţīru Al-‘Awwalīna
8:31  And when Our Verses  (i.e., of the Quran) are recited to them, they say, Verily we have heard. if we wish surely, we could say ˹something˺ like this. This is nothing but tales of the former people.”

8:31  And when are recited to them Our Verses they say, Verily we have heard. if we wish surely, we could say like this. Not is this but tales (of) the former (people).”
31. Wa izaa tutlaa ‘alaihim Aayaatunaa qaaloo qad sami’naa law nashaaa’u laqulnaa misla haazaaa in haazaaa illaaa asaateerul awwaleen
32. وَإِذْ قَالُوا اللَّهُمَّ إِنْ كَانَ هَٰذَا هُوَ الْحَقَّ مِنْ عِنْدِكَ فَأَمْطِرْ عَلَيْنَا حِجَارَةً مِنَ السَّمَاءِ أَوِ ائْتِنَا بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ
Wa ‘Idh Qālū Al-Lahumma ‘In Kāna Hādhā Huwa Al-Ĥaqqa Min `Indika Fa’amţir `Alaynā Ĥijāratan Mina As-Samā’i Aw A’tinā Bi`adhābinAlīmin

8:32 And ˹remember˺ when they said, “O Allah! If this is/was it ˹indeed˺, the truth from You, then rain down stones upon us from the sky or bring on us a painful punishment.”

If this is it ˹indeed˺, the truth from You

8:32 And ˹remember˺ when they (i.e., disbelievers) said, “O Allah! If was this it the truth from You, then rain upon us stones from the sky or bring upon/on us a painful punishment.”

32. Wa iz qaalul laahumma in kaana haazaa huwal haqqa min ‘indika fa amtir ‘alainaa hijaaratam minas samaaa’i awi’tinaa bi ‘azaabin aleem
33. وَمَا كَانَ اللَّهُ لِيُعَذِّبَهُمْ وَأَنْتَ فِيهِمْ ۚ وَمَا كَانَ اللَّهُ مُعَذِّبَهُمْ وَهُمْ يَسْتَغْفِرُونَ
Wa Mā Kāna Al-Lahu Liyu`adhdhibahum Wa ‘Anta Fīhim Wa Mā Kāna Al-Lahu Mu`adhdhibahum Wa Hum Yastaghfirūna

8:33  But Allah would never punish them (i.e., disbelievers) while you ˹O Prophet˺ were among them, and nor would Allah punish them while they seek/ask/prayed for forgiveness.

8:33  But Allah was not (for) that He punishes them while you ˹O Prophet˺ were among them, and not/nor is Allah the One Who punishes them while they seek forgiveness.
33. Wa maa kaanal laahu liyu’az zibahum wa anta feehim; wa maa kaanal laahu mu’az zibahum wa hum yastaghfiroon

34. وَمَا لَهُمْ أَلَّا يُعَذِّبَهُمُ اللَّهُ وَهُمْ يَصُدُّونَ عَنِ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ وَمَا كَانُوا أَوْلِيَاءَهُ ۚ إِنْ أَوْلِيَاؤُهُ إِلَّا الْمُتَّقُونَ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
Wa Mā Lahum Allā Yu`adhdhibahumu Al-Lahu Wa Hum Yaşuddūna `Ani Al-Masjidi Al-Ĥarāmi Wa Mā Kānū Awliyā’ahu ‘In ‘Awliyā’uuhu ‘Illā Al-Muttaqūna Wa LakinnaAktharahum Ya`lamūna

8:34  But what ˹reason do˺ they (i.e., disbelievers) have that Allah should not punish them while they hinder/stop/ keep out/prevent/obstruct  (people/men/piligrims/worshipers) from Al-Masjid Al-Haraam (i.e., Sacred Mosque), while/and they are not its guardians? None can be/ No one is its guardians except the ones who fear Allah, but most of them do not know.

But what ˹reason do˺ they (i.e., disbelievers) have that Allah should not punish them

But why ˹it is˺ for them (i.e., disbelievers) that Allah should not punish them

Its guardians can not be except the ones who fear Allah, but most of them do not know.

8:34  But what (is) for them that not (should) punish them Allah while they hinder (people) from Al-Masjid Al-Haraam, while not they are its guardians? Not (can be) its guardians except the ones who fear Allah, but most of them (do) not know.
34. Wa maa lahum allaa yu’az zibahumul laahu wa hum yasuddoona ‘anil Masjidil-Haraami wa maa kaanooo awliyaaa’ah; in awliyaaa’ uhooo illal muttaqoona wa laakinna aksarahum laa ya’lamoon

35. وَمَا كَانَ صَلَاتُهُمْ عِنْدَ الْبَيْتِ إِلَّا مُكَاءً وَتَصْدِيَةً ۚ فَذُوقُوا الْعَذَابَ بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَكْفُرُونَ
Wa Mā Kāna Şalātuhum `Inda Al-Bayti ‘Illā Mukā’an Wa Taşdiyatan Fadhūqū Al-`Adhāba Bimā Kuntum Takfurūna
8:35 And their prayer at the ˹Sacred˺ House was nothing except whistling and clapping. So taste the punishment because/for what you used to disbelieve.
35. Wa maa kaana Salaatuhum ‘indal Baiti illa mukaaa anw-wa tasdiyah; fazooqul ‘azaaba bimaa kuntum takfuroon

36. إِنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا يُنْفِقُونَ أَمْوَالَهُمْ لِيَصُدُّوا عَنْ سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ۚ فَسَيُنْفِقُونَهَا ثُمَّ تَكُونُ عَلَيْهِمْ حَسْرَةً ثُمَّ يُغْلَبُونَ ۗ وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا إِلَىٰ جَهَنَّمَ يُحْشَرُونَ
‘Inna Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Yunfiqūna Amwālahum Liyaşuddū `An Sabīli Al-Lahi Fasayunfiqūnahā Thumma Takūnu `Alayhim Ĥasratan Thumma Yughlabūna Wa Al-Ladhīna Kafarū ‘Ilá Jahannama Yuĥsharūna
8:36  Indeed, those who disbelieve, they spend their wealth to hinder/obstruct ˹others˺ from the way of Allah. So they will spend it, then it will be a ˹source of˺ regret for them, then they will be overcome. And those who disbelieve, they will be gathered to/into/ in Hell.

to Hell they will be gathered.


36. Innal lazeena kafaroo yunfiqoona amwaalahum liyasuddoo ‘an sabeelil laah; fasayunfiqoonahaa summa takoonu ‘alaihim hasratan summa yughlaboon; wal lazeena kafarooo ilaa Jahannnama yuhsharoona
37. لِيَمِيزَ اللَّهُ الْخَبِيثَ مِنَ الطَّيِّبِ وَيَجْعَلَ الْخَبِيثَ بَعْضَهُ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ فَيَرْكُمَهُ جَمِيعًا فَيَجْعَلَهُ فِي جَهَنَّمَ ۚ أُولَٰئِكَ هُمُ الْخَاسِرُونَ
Liyamīza Al-Lahu Al-Khabītha Mina Aţ-Ţayyibi Wa Yaj`ala Al-Khabītha Ba`đahu `Alá Ba`đin Fayarkumahu Jamī`āan Fayaj`alahu Jahannama ‘Ūlā’ika Humu Al-Khāsirūna
8:37  So that Allah may separate the evil from the good, and place the wicked some of them upon others and pile them all together, and put them into Hell. Those are they the losers.

8:37  That may distinguish Allah the wicked/evil from the good, and place the wicked some of them on others and heap them all together, and put them in/ into Hell. Those they (are) the losers.
37. Liyameezal laahul khabeesa minat taiyibi wa yaj’alal khabeesa ba’dahoo ‘ala ba’din fayarkumahoo jamee’an fayaj’alahoo fee Jahannnam; ulaaa’ika humul khaasiroon (section 4)
38. قُلْ لِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا إِنْ يَنْتَهُوا يُغْفَرْ لَهُمْ مَا قَدْ سَلَفَ وَإِنْ يَعُودُوا فَقَدْ مَضَتْ سُنَّتُ الْأَوَّلِينَ
Qul Lilladhīna Kafarū In Yantahū Yughfar Lahum Qad Salafa Wa ‘In Ya`ūdū Faqad Mađat Sunnatu Al-‘Awwalīna
8:38  Say to those who disbelieve, if they desist, what has verily/already past will be forgiven for them. But if they return then verily the practice/example of the former people/ earlier ones have preceded/ already passed.

8:38  Say to those who disbelieve if they cease, what verily/already has past will be forgiven for them. But if they return then verily preceded (the) practice (of) the former (people).
38. Qul lillazeena kafarooo iny yantahoo yughfar lahum maa qad salafa wa iny ya’oodoo faqad madat sunnatul awwaleen
39. وَقَاتِلُوهُمْ حَتَّىٰ لَا تَكُونَ فِتْنَةٌ وَيَكُونَ الدِّينُ كُلُّهُ لِلَّهِ ۚ فَإِنِ انْتَهَوْا فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ بِمَا يَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرٌ
Wa Qātilūhum Ĥattá Takūna Fitnatun Wa Yakūna Ad-Dīnu Kulluhu Lillahi Fa’ini Antahaw Fa’inna Al-Laha Bimā Ya`malūna Başīrun
8:39  And fight them until there is no oppression/persecution and the religion, all of it, is for Allah. But if they desist, then indeed, Allah is All-Seer of what they do.
39. Wa qaatiloohum hattaa laa takoona fitnatunw wa yakoonaddeenu kulluhoo lillaah; fainin tahaw fa innallaaha bimaa ya’maloona Baseer

PART 2 40 TO 75

40. وَإِنْ تَوَلَّوْا فَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّ اللَّهَ مَوْلَاكُمْ ۚ نِعْمَ الْمَوْلَىٰ وَنِعْمَ النَّصِيرُ
Wa ‘In Tawallaw Fā`lamūAnna Al-Laha Mawlākum Ni`ma Al-Mawlá Wa Ni`ma An-Naşīru
8:40  And if they turn away, then know that Allah is your Protector, Excellent is the Protector, and Excellent is the Helper.
40. Wa in tawallaw fa’lamooo annal laaha mawlaakum; ni’mal mawlaa wa ni’man naseer (End Juz 9)
41. وَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّمَا غَنِمْتُمْ مِنْ شَيْءٍ فَأَنَّ لِلَّهِ خُمُسَهُ وَلِلرَّسُولِ وَلِذِي الْقُرْبَىٰ وَالْيَتَامَىٰ وَالْمَسَاكِينِ وَابْنِ السَّبِيلِ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ آمَنْتُمْ بِاللَّهِ وَمَا أَنْزَلْنَا عَلَىٰ عَبْدِنَا يَوْمَ الْفُرْقَانِ يَوْمَ الْتَقَى الْجَمْعَانِ ۗ وَاللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
Wa A`lamūAnnamā Ghanimtum Min Shay’in Fa’anna Lillahi Khumusahu Wa Lilrrasūli Wa Lidhī Al-Qurbá Wa Al-Yatāmá Wa Al-Masākīni Wa Abni As-Sabīli In Kuntum Āmantum Bil-Lahi Wa MāAnzalnā `Alá `Abdinā Yawma Al-Furqāni Yawma At-Taqá Al-Jam`āni Wa Allāhu `Alá Kulli Shay’in Qadīrun
8:41  And know that whatever you obtain/take of anything as spoils of war (i.e., battle gains), then that one fifth of it is for Allah and for the Messenger and for the near relatives, and the orphans and the needy and the traveler, if you believe in Allah, and in what We sent down to Our slave/servant on the day of the criterion/decision ˹between right and wrong˺, the day when the two forces met ˹at Badr˺. And Allah is All-Powerful on every thing.
41. Wa’lamooo annamaa ghanimtum min sha’in fa anna lillaahi khumusahoo wa lir Rasooli wa lizil qurba walyataamaa walmasaakeeni wabnis sabeeli in kuntum aamantum billaahi wa maaa anzalnaa ‘ala ‘abdinaa yawmal Furqaani yawmaltaqal jam’aan; wal laahu ‘alaa kulli shai’in Qadeer
42. إِذْ أَنْتُمْ بِالْعُدْوَةِ الدُّنْيَا وَهُمْ بِالْعُدْوَةِ الْقُصْوَىٰ وَالرَّكْبُ أَسْفَلَ مِنْكُمْ ۚ وَلَوْ تَوَاعَدْتُمْ لَاخْتَلَفْتُمْ فِي الْمِيعَادِ ۙ وَلَٰكِنْ لِيَقْضِيَ اللَّهُ أَمْرًا كَانَ مَفْعُولًا لِيَهْلِكَ مَنْ هَلَكَ عَنْ بَيِّنَةٍ وَيَحْيَىٰ مَنْ حَيَّ عَنْ بَيِّنَةٍ ۗ وَإِنَّ اللَّهَ لَسَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ
‘IdhAntum Bil-`Udwati Ad-Dunyā Wa Hum Bil-`Udwati Al-Quşwá Wa Ar-RakbuAsfala Minkum Wa Law Tawā`adttum Lākhtalaftum Al-Mī`ādi Wa Lakin Liyaqđiya Al-Lahu Amrāan Kāna Maf`ūlāan Liyahlika Man Halaka `An Bayyinatin Wa Yaĥyá Man Ĥayya `An Bayyinatin Wa ‘Inna Al-Laha Lasamī`un `Alīmun
8:42 ˹Remember˺ when you were on the near side of the world/valley (i.e., valley of badr), and they (i.e., your enemy) were on the far side, and the caravan was below you. Even if you had made an appointment ˹to meet˺ you would have certainly failed/differed in the appointment. But ˹it took place˺ so that Allah might accomplish/establish/bring about a matter that was ˹already˺ destined (i.e., decided), so that (might be) destroyed (those) who (were to be) destroyed on a clear evidence and (might) live (those) who (were to) live on a clear evidence. And indeed, Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.

so that those who were to be destroyed might be destroyed after the clear evidence and those who were to live might live after the clear evidence.

so that those who were to be destroyed might be destroyed after seeing a clear evidence and those who were to live might live after seeing a clear evidence.

8:42  When you (were) on the nearer side (of) the world (valley) and they (were) on the side, the farther and the caravan (was) lower than you. And if you (had) made an appointment certainly you would have failed in the appointment. But that might accomplish Allah a matter (that) was destined, that (might be) destroyed (those) who (were to be) destroyed on a clear evidence and (might) live (those) who (were to) live on a clear evidence. And indeed, Allah (is) All-Hearing, All-Knowing.
42. Iz antum bil’udwatid dunyaa wa hum bil’udwatil quswaa warrakbu asfala minkum; wa law tawaa’attum lakhtalaftum fil mee’aadi wa laakil liyaqdiyal laahu amran kaana maf’oolal liyahlika man halaka ‘am baiyinatinw wa yahyaa man haiya ‘am baiyinah; wa innal laaha la Samee’un ‘Aleem
43. إِذْ يُرِيكَهُمُ اللَّهُ فِي مَنَامِكَ قَلِيلًا ۖ وَلَوْ أَرَاكَهُمْ كَثِيرًا لَفَشِلْتُمْ وَلَتَنَازَعْتُمْ فِي الْأَمْرِ وَلَٰكِنَّ اللَّهَ سَلَّمَ ۗ إِنَّهُ عَلِيمٌ بِذَاتِ الصُّدُورِ
‘Idh Yurīkahumu Al-Lahu Manāmika Qalīlāan Wa Law Arākahum Kathīrāan Lafashiltum Wa Latanāza`tum Al-‘Amri Wa Lakinna Al-Laha Sallama Innahu `Alīmun Bidhāti Aş-Şudūri
8:43 ˹Remember, O Prophet,˺  When Allah showed them to you in your dream as few ˹in number˺, and if He had shown them to you as many, you ˹believers˺ would have surely lost courage and you would have surely disputed in the matter/decision (i.e., of whether to fight), but Allah saved you. Indeed, He is All-Knower of what is in the chests.
43. Iz yureekahumul laahu fee manaamika qaleela; wa law araakahum kaseeral lafashiltum wa latanaaza’tum fil amri wa laakinnal laaha sallam; innahoo ‘aleemum bizaatis sudoor
44. وَإِذْ يُرِيكُمُوهُمْ إِذِ الْتَقَيْتُمْ فِي أَعْيُنِكُمْ قَلِيلًا وَيُقَلِّلُكُمْ فِي أَعْيُنِهِمْ لِيَقْضِيَ اللَّهُ أَمْرًا كَانَ مَفْعُولًا ۗ وَإِلَى اللَّهِ تُرْجَعُ الْأُمُورُ
Wa ‘Idh Yurīkumūhum Idhi At-Taqaytum A`yunikum Qalīlāan Wa Yuqallilukum ‘A`yunihim Liyaqđiya Al-LahuAmrāan Kāna Maf`ūlāan Wa ‘Ilá Al-Lahi Turja`u Al-‘Umūru
8:44 And when He ˹Allah˺ showed them to you, when you met ˹them˺, as few in your eyes, and He made you ˹appear˺ as few in their eyes, so that Allah might accomplish/ establish/ bring about a matter that was already destined. And to Allah ˹all˺ the matters/affairs are/will be returned ˹for judgment/decision˺.

And to Allah ˹are all˺ the matters/affairs returned ˹for judgment/decision˺.

And to Allah ˹are all˺ the matters/affairs returned.

8:44 And when He ˹Allah˺ showed them to you, when you met in your eyes (as) few and He made you (appear) as few in their eyes that might accomplish Allah a matter (that) was (already) destined. And to Allah return (all) the matters.

44. Wa iz yureekumoohum izil taqaitum feee a’yunikum qaleelanw wa yuqallilukum feee a’yunihim liyaqdiyal laahu amran kaana maf’oolaa; wa ilal laahi turja’ul umoor (section 5)
45. يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِذَا لَقِيتُمْ فِئَةً فَاثْبُتُوا وَاذْكُرُوا اللَّهَ كَثِيرًا لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ
Yā ‘Ayyuhā Al-LadhīnaĀmanū Idhā Laqītum Fi’atan Fāthbutū Wa Adhkurū Al-Laha Kathīrāan La`allakum Tufliĥūna
8:45  O you who believe! When you meet a force (i.e., an enemy force), then be firm and remember Allah much/often, so that you may be successful.

45. Yaaa aiyuhal lazeena aamanooo izaa laqeetum fi’atan fasbutoo wazkurul laaha kaseeral la’allakum tuflihoon
46. وَأَطِيعُوا اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَلَا تَنَازَعُوا فَتَفْشَلُوا وَتَذْهَبَ رِيحُكُمْ ۖ وَاصْبِرُوا ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ مَعَ الصَّابِرِينَ
Wa ‘Aţī`ū Al-Laha Wa Rasūlahu Wa Lā Tanāza`ū Fatafshalū Wa Tadhhaba Rīĥukum Wa AşbirūInna Al-Laha Ma`a Aş-Şābirīna
8:46  And obey Allah and His Messenger, and do not dispute ˹with one another˺ or you ˹may/would˺ lose courage and your strength ˹may/would˺ depart. And be patient. Indeed, Allah is with the patient ones.
46. Wa atee’ul laaha wa Rasoolahoo wa laa tanaaza’oo fatafshaloo wa tazhaba reehukum wasbiroo; innal laaha ma’as saabireen
47. وَلَا تَكُونُوا كَالَّذِينَ خَرَجُوا مِنْ دِيَارِهِمْ بَطَرًا وَرِئَاءَ النَّاسِ وَيَصُدُّونَ عَنْ سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ۚ وَاللَّهُ بِمَا يَعْمَلُونَ مُحِيطٌ
Wa Lā Takūnū Kālladhīna Kharajū Min Diyārihim Baţarāan Wa Ri’ā’a An-Nāsi Wa Yaşuddūna `An Sabīli Al-Lahi Wa Allāhu Bimā Ya`malūna Muĥīţun
8:47  And do not be like those ˹pagans˺ who came forth/left/ came out from/of their homes boastfully/arrogantly and showing off to the people, and to hinder ˹others˺ from the way/path of Allah. And Allah is All-Encompassing of what they do.

47. Wa laa takoonoo kallazeena kharajoo min diyaarihim bataranw wa ri’aaa’an naasi wa yasuddoona ‘an sabeelil laah; wallaahu bimaa ya’maloona muheet
48. وَإِذْ زَيَّنَ لَهُمُ الشَّيْطَانُ أَعْمَالَهُمْ وَقَالَ لَا غَالِبَ لَكُمُ الْيَوْمَ مِنَ النَّاسِ وَإِنِّي جَارٌ لَكُمْ ۖ فَلَمَّا تَرَاءَتِ الْفِئَتَانِ نَكَصَ عَلَىٰ عَقِبَيْهِ وَقَالَ إِنِّي بَرِيءٌ مِنْكُمْ إِنِّي أَرَىٰ مَا لَا تَرَوْنَ إِنِّي أَخَافُ اللَّهَ ۚ وَاللَّهُ شَدِيدُ الْعِقَابِ
Wa ‘Idh Zayyana Lahumu Ash-Shayţānu ‘A`mālahum Wa Qāla Ghāliba Lakumu Al-Yawma Mina An-Nāsi Wa ‘Innī Jārun Lakum Falammā Tarā’ati Al-Fi’atāni Nakaşa `Alá `Aqibayhi Wa Qāla Innī Barī’un Minkum ‘Innī ‘Ará Tarawna Inniyi Akhāfu Al-Laha Wa Allāhu Shadīdu Al-`Iqābi
8:48  And ˹remember˺ when the satan made their ˹evil˺ deeds appealing to them, and said,No one from the people can overcome to you today and I am indeed/surely/certainly a neighbor/supporter for you. But when the two forces came in sight/ saw each other, he (i.e., satan) turned on his heels and said,Indeed, I am free/disassociated of/from you. Indeed, I see what you do not see, indeed, I fear Allah. And Allah is severe in the penalty/punishment.”

8:48  And when made fair-seeming to them the Shaitaan their deeds and he said,No (one) (can) overcome [to] you today from the people and indeed, I am a neighbor for you. But when came in sight the two forces he turned away on his heels and said,Indeed, I am free of you. Indeed, I see what not (do) you see, indeed, I [I] fear Allah. And Allah is severe in the penalty.”
48. Wa iz zaiyana lahumush shaitaanu a’maalahum wa qaala laa ghaaliba lakumul yawma minan naasi wa innee jaarul lakum falammaa taraaa’atil fi’ataani nakasa ‘alaa aqibaihi wa qaala innee bareee’um minkum innee araa maa laa tarawna inneee akhaaful laah; wallaahu shadeedul ‘iqaab (section 6)
49. إِذْ يَقُولُ الْمُنَافِقُونَ وَالَّذِينَ فِي قُلُوبِهِمْ مَرَضٌ غَرَّ هَٰؤُلَاءِ دِينُهُمْ ۗ وَمَنْ يَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى اللَّهِ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٌ
‘Idh Yaqūlu Al-Munāfiqūna Wa Al-Ladhīna Qulūbihim Marađun Gharra Hā’uulāDīnuhum Wa Man Yatawakkal `Alá Al-Lahi Fa’inna Al-Laha `Azīzun Ĥakīmun
8:49 ˹Remember˺  When the hypocrites and those who have a sickness in their hearts said,these ˹believers˺ are deluded by their religion.” But whoever puts ˹their˺ trust in Allah then indeed, Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise.
49. Iz yaqoolul munaafiqoona wallazeena fee quloobihim maradun gharra haaa’ulaaa’i deenuhum; wa mai yatawakkal ‘alal laahi fa innal laaha ‘azee zun Hakeem
50. وَلَوْ تَرَىٰ إِذْ يَتَوَفَّى الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا ۙ الْمَلَائِكَةُ يَضْرِبُونَ وُجُوهَهُمْ وَأَدْبَارَهُمْ وَذُوقُوا عَذَابَ الْحَرِيقِ
Wa Law Tará ‘Idh Yatawaffá Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Al-Malā’ikatu Yađribūna Wujūhahum Wa ‘Adbārahum Wa Dhūqū `Adhāba Al-Ĥarīqi
8:50  And if you ˹could only˺ see when the Angels take away the souls of those who disbelieved, beating their faces and their backs ˹saying,˺ “Taste the punishment of the Burning.

50. Wa law taraaa iz yatawaf fal lazeena kafarul malaaa’ikatu yadriboona wujoohahum wa adbaarahum wa zooqoo ‘azaabal hareeq
51. ذَٰلِكَ بِمَا قَدَّمَتْ أَيْدِيكُمْ وَأَنَّ اللَّهَ لَيْسَ بِظَلَّامٍ لِلْعَبِيدِ
Dhālika Bimā Qaddamat Aydīkum Wa ‘Anna Al-Laha Laysa Bižallāmin Lil`abīdi
8:51  That is for what your hands have sent forth/put forward/sent ahead. And indeed, Allah is not unjust to His slaves.
51. Zaalika bimaa qaddamat aideekum wa anal laaha laisa bizallaamil lil ‘abeed
52. كَدَأْبِ آلِ فِرْعَوْنَ ۙ وَالَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ ۚ كَفَرُوا بِآيَاتِ اللَّهِ فَأَخَذَهُمُ اللَّهُ بِذُنُوبِهِمْ ۗ إِنَّ اللَّهَ قَوِيٌّ شَدِيدُ الْعِقَابِ
Kada’bi ‘Āli Fir`awna Wa Al-Ladhīna Min Qablihim Kafarū Bi’āyāti Al-Lahi Fa’akhadhahumu Al-Lahu Bidhunūbihim Inna Al-Laha Qawīyun Shadīdu Al-`Iqābi

8:52 They are like the people of pharoah and those who were from before them. They disbelieved in the Signs of Allah, so Allah seized them for their sins. Indeed, Allah is All-Strong, severe in the penalty/punishment.

53. ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّ اللَّهَ لَمْ يَكُ مُغَيِّرًا نِعْمَةً أَنْعَمَهَا عَلَىٰ قَوْمٍ حَتَّىٰ يُغَيِّرُوا مَا بِأَنْفُسِهِمْ ۙ وَأَنَّ اللَّهَ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ
Dhālika Bi’anna Al-Laha Lam Yaku Mughayyirāan Ni`matanAn`amahā `Alá Qawmin Ĥattá Yughayyirū Bi’anfusihim Wa ‘Anna Al-Laha Samī`un `Alīmun
8:53  That is because Allah would not is/be One Who changes a favor which He had bestowed on a people until they change what is in themselves. And indeed, Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.
53. Zaalika bi annal laaha lam yakumu ghaiyiran ni’matan an’amahaa ‘alaa qawmin hattaa yughaiyiroo maa bianfusihim wa annallaaha samee’un ‘Aleem
54. كَدَأْبِ آلِ فِرْعَوْنَ ۙ وَالَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ ۚ كَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِ رَبِّهِمْ فَأَهْلَكْنَاهُمْ بِذُنُوبِهِمْ وَأَغْرَقْنَا آلَ فِرْعَوْنَ ۚ وَكُلٌّ كَانُوا ظَالِمِينَ
Kada’bi ‘Āli Fir`awna Wa Al-Ladhīna Min Qablihim Kadhdhabū Bi’āyāti Rabbihim Fa’ahlaknāhum Bidhunūbihim Wa ‘Aghraqnā ‘Āla Fir`awna Wa Kullun Kānū Žālimīna
8:54 They are like the people of pharoah and those who were from before them. They denied the Signs of their Lord, so We destroyed them for their sins and We drowned the people of pharaoh and they all were wrongdoers.
54. Kadaabi Aali Fir’awna wallazeena min qablihim; kazzaboo bi Aayaati Rabbihim faahlaknaahum bizunoobihim wa aghraqnaa Aala Fir’awn; wa kullun kaanoo zaalimeen
55. إِنَّ شَرَّ الدَّوَابِّ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا فَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ
‘Inna Sharra Ad-Dawābbi `Inda Al-Lahi Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Fahum Yu’uminūna
8:55  Indeed, the worst of the living creatures near Allah are those who disbelieve, and they will not believe.
55. Inna sharrad dawaaabbi ‘indal laahil lazeena kafaroo fahum laa yu’minoon
56. الَّذِينَ عَاهَدْتَ مِنْهُمْ ثُمَّ يَنْقُضُونَ عَهْدَهُمْ فِي كُلِّ مَرَّةٍ وَهُمْ لَا يَتَّقُونَ
Al-Ladhīna `Āhadta Minhum Thumma Yanquđūna `Ahdahum Kulli Marratin Wa Hum Yattaqūna
8:56  Those with whom you ˹O Prophet˺ made a covenant/treaty/pledge, then they break/violate their covenant/treaty/pledge in/on every time/occasion, and they do not fear ˹Allah˺.

56. Allazeena’aahatta min hum summa yanqudoona ‘ahdahum fee kulli marratinw wa hum laa yattaqoon
57. فَإِمَّا تَثْقَفَنَّهُمْ فِي الْحَرْبِ فَشَرِّدْ بِهِمْ مَنْ خَلْفَهُمْ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَذَّكَّرُونَ
Fa’immā Tathqafannahum Al-Ĥarbi Fasharrid Bihim Man Khalfahum La`allahum Yadhdhakkarūna

8:57  So if you find/meet/overtake them in the war, deal with them in order to disperse those who are behind them so that they may take heed/ learn a lesson/ remember.

58. وَإِمَّا تَخَافَنَّ مِنْ قَوْمٍ خِيَانَةً فَانْبِذْ إِلَيْهِمْ عَلَىٰ سَوَاءٍ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ الْخَائِنِينَ
Wa ‘Immā Takhāfanna Min Qawmin Khiyānatan Fānbidh Ilayhim `Alá Sawā’in ‘Inna Al-Laha Yuĥibbu Al-Khā’inīna
8:58  And if you ˹O Prophet˺ fear betrayal from a people, throw back ˹their treaty˺ to them on equal terms. Indeed, Allah does not love the traitors/ betrayers.
58. Wa immaa takhaafana min qawmin khiyaanatan fambiz ilaihim ‘alaa sawaaa’; innal laaha laayuhibbul khaaa’ineen (section 7)
59. وَلَا يَحْسَبَنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا سَبَقُوا ۚ إِنَّهُمْ لَا يُعْجِزُونَ
Wa Lā Yaĥsabanna Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Sabaqū Innahum Yu`jizūna
8:59  And do not let those who disbelieve think they can outstrip/escape. Indeed, they can not escape.
59. Wa laa yahsabannal lazeena kafaroo sabaqooo; innahum laa yu’jizoon
60. وَأَعِدُّوا لَهُمْ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ مِنْ قُوَّةٍ وَمِنْ رِبَاطِ الْخَيْلِ تُرْهِبُونَ بِهِ عَدُوَّ اللَّهِ وَعَدُوَّكُمْ وَآخَرِينَ مِنْ دُونِهِمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَهُمُ اللَّهُ يَعْلَمُهُمْ ۚ وَمَا تُنْفِقُوا مِنْ شَيْءٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ يُوَفَّ إِلَيْكُمْ وَأَنْتُمْ لَا تُظْلَمُونَ
Wa ‘A`iddū Lahum Astaţa`tum Min Qūwatin Wa Min Ribāţi Al-Khayli Turhibūna Bihi `Adūwa Al-Lahi Wa `Adūwakum Wa ‘Ākharīna Min Dūnihim Ta`lamūnahumu Al-Lahu Ya`lamuhum Wa Mā Tunfiqū Min Shay’in Sabīli Al-Lahi Yuwaffa Ilaykum Wa ‘Antum Tužlamūna
8:60  And prepare for them whatever you ˹believers˺ able/can of force and of tethered/tied horses to terrify/frighten with it the enemy of Allah, and your enemy and others from besides them, you do not know them but Allah knows them. And whatever you spend from anything in the way of Allah it will be fully repaid to you, and you will not be wronged.
60. Wa a’iddoo lahum mastata’tum min quwwatinw wa mirribaatil khaili turhiboona bihee ‘aduwwal laahi wa ‘aduwwakum wa aakhareena min doonihim laa ta’lamoo nahum Allaahu ya’lamuhum; wa maa tunfiqoo min shai’in fee sabeelil laahi yuwaffa ilaikum wa antum laa tuzlamoon
61. وَإِنْ جَنَحُوا لِلسَّلْمِ فَاجْنَحْ لَهَا وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى اللَّهِ ۚ إِنَّهُ هُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ
Wa ‘In Janaĥū Lilssalmi Fājnaĥ Lahā Wa Tawakkal `Alá Al-LahiInnahu Huwa As-Samī`u Al-`Alīmu
8:61  And if they (i.e., enemy) incline to peace, then you ˹also˺ incline to it, and ˹put your˺ trust in Allah. Indeed, He is All-Hearer, All-Knower.
61. Wa in janahoo lissalmi fajnah lahaa wa tawakkal ‘alal laah; innahoo Huwas Samee’ul ‘Aleem
62. وَإِنْ يُرِيدُوا أَنْ يَخْدَعُوكَ فَإِنَّ حَسْبَكَ اللَّهُ ۚ هُوَ الَّذِي أَيَّدَكَ بِنَصْرِهِ وَبِالْمُؤْمِنِينَ
Wa ‘In Yurīdū ‘An Yakhda`ūka Fa’inna Ĥasbaka Al-Lahu Huwa Al-LadhīAyyadaka Binaşrihi Wa Bil-Mu’uminīna
8:62  But if they intend to deceive you, then indeed, Allah is sufficient for you. He is the One Who supported you with His help and with the believers
62. Wa  iny yureedooo any-yakhda’ooka fainna hasbakal laah; Huwal lazeee aiyadaka binasrihee wa bilmu’mineen
63. وَأَلَّفَ بَيْنَ قُلُوبِهِمْ ۚ لَوْ أَنْفَقْتَ مَا فِي الْأَرْضِ جَمِيعًا مَا أَلَّفْتَ بَيْنَ قُلُوبِهِمْ وَلَٰكِنَّ اللَّهَ أَلَّفَ بَيْنَهُمْ ۚ إِنَّهُ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٌ
Wa ‘Allafa Bayna Qulūbihim Law Anfaqta Al-‘Arđi Jamī`āan Allafta Bayna Qulūbihim Wa Lakinna Al-Laha Allafa Baynahum Innahu `Azīzun Ĥakīmun
8:63  And He has put affection between/among their (i.e., believers) hearts. If you had spent all whatever/that is in the earth, you could not have put affection between/among their hearts, but Allah has put affection between/among them. Indeed, He is All-Mighty, All-Wise.

63. Wa allafa baina quloobihim; law anfaqta maa fil ardi jamee’am maaa allafta baina quloobihim wa laakinnallaaha allafa bainahum; innaahoo ‘Azeezun Hakeem
64. يَا أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ حَسْبُكَ اللَّهُ وَمَنِ اتَّبَعَكَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ
Yā ‘Ayyuhā An-Nabīyu Ĥasbuka Al-Lahu Wa Mani Attaba`aka Mina Al-Mu’uminīna

8:64  O Prophet! Allah is sufficient for you and for the believers who follows you.

64. Yaaa aiyuhan Nabiyyu hasbukal laahu wa manittaba ‘aka minal mu’mineen (section 8)
65. يَا أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ حَرِّضِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ عَلَى الْقِتَالِ ۚ إِنْ يَكُنْ مِنْكُمْ عِشْرُونَ صَابِرُونَ يَغْلِبُوا مِائَتَيْنِ ۚ وَإِنْ يَكُنْ مِنْكُمْ مِائَةٌ يَغْلِبُوا أَلْفًا مِنَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا بِأَنَّهُمْ قَوْمٌ لَا يَفْقَهُونَ
Yā ‘Ayyuhā An-Nabīyu Ĥarriđi Al-Mu’uminīna `Alá Al-Qitāli ‘In Yakun Minkum `Ishrūna Şābirūna Yaghlibū Miā’atayni Wa ‘In Yakun Minkum Miā’atun Yaghlibū Alfāan Mina Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Bi’annahum Qawmun Yafqahūna
8:65  O Prophet! Urge/Motivate/Encourage the believers to the fight. If there are twenty steadfast (i.e., patient ones) among you, they will overcome two hundred. And if there are a hundred among you, they will overcome a thousand of those who disbelieve, because they (i.e., disbelievers) are a people ˹who do˺ not understand.
65. Yaaa aiyuhan Nabiyyu harridil mu’mineena ‘alal qitaal; iny-yakum minkum ‘ishroona saabiroona yaghliboo mi’atayn; wa iny-yakum minkum mi’atuny yaghlibooo alfam minal lazeena kafaroo bi anahum qawmul laa yafqahoon
66. الْآنَ خَفَّفَ اللَّهُ عَنْكُمْ وَعَلِمَ أَنَّ فِيكُمْ ضَعْفًا ۚ فَإِنْ يَكُنْ مِنْكُمْ مِائَةٌ صَابِرَةٌ يَغْلِبُوا مِائَتَيْنِ ۚ وَإِنْ يَكُنْ مِنْكُمْ أَلْفٌ يَغْلِبُوا أَلْفَيْنِ بِإِذْنِ اللَّهِ ۗ وَاللَّهُ مَعَ الصَّابِرِينَ
Al-‘Āna Khaffafa Al-Lahu `Ankum Wa `Alima ‘Anna Fīkum Đa`fāan Fa’in Yakun Minkum Miā’atun Şābiratun Yaghlibū Miā’atayni Wa ‘In Yakun Minkum Alfun Yaghlibū Alfayni Bi’idhni Al-Lahi Wa Allāhu Ma`a Aş-Şābirīna
8:66  Now, Allah has lightened ˹the hardship/burden˺ for you, and He knows that in you there is weakness, so if there are a hundred steadfast among you, they will overcome two hundred. And if there are a thousand among you, they will overcome two thousand with permission of Allah. And Allah is with the steadfast (i.e., the patient ones).
66. Al’aana khaffafal laahu ‘ankum wa ‘alima anna feekum da’faa; fa-iny yakum minkum mi’atun saabiratuny yaghliboo mi’atayn; wa iny-yakum minkum alfuny yaghlibooo alfaini bi iznil laah; wallaahu ma’as saabireen
67. مَا كَانَ لِنَبِيٍّ أَنْ يَكُونَ لَهُ أَسْرَىٰ حَتَّىٰ يُثْخِنَ فِي الْأَرْضِ ۚ تُرِيدُونَ عَرَضَ الدُّنْيَا وَاللَّهُ يُرِيدُ الْآخِرَةَ ۗ وَاللَّهُ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٌ
Kāna Linabīyin ‘An Yakūna Lahu Asrá Ĥattá Yuthkhina Al-‘Arđi Turīdūna `Arađa Ad-Dunyā Wa Allāhu Yurīdu Al-‘Ākhirata Wa Allāhu `Azīzun Ĥakīmun
8:67 It is not ˹fit/right˺ for a Prophet that there should be prisoners of war for him until he has battled strenuously in the land. You ˹believers˺ desire the commodities/goods/temporary gains of the world, but Allah desires/intends the Hereafter ˹for you˺. And Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise.

It is not ˹fit/right˺ for a Prophet that he should take prisoners of war…

67. Maa kaana li Nabiyyin ai yakoona lahooo asraa hatta yuskhina fil ard; tureedoona aradad dunyaa wallaahu yureedul Aakhirah; wallaahu ‘Azeezun Hakeem
68. لَوْلَا كِتَابٌ مِنَ اللَّهِ سَبَقَ لَمَسَّكُمْ فِيمَا أَخَذْتُمْ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ
Lawlā Kitābun Mina Al-Lahi Sabaqa Lamassakum Fīmā Akhadhtum `Adhābun `Ažīmun
8:68  Had it not been for a prior/previous decree/prescription/revelation ˹revealed˺ from Allah, surely a great punishment would have touched you for what you took.

68. Law laa Kitaabum minal laahi sabaqa lamassakum fee maaa akhaztum ‘azaabun ‘azeem
69. فَكُلُوا مِمَّا غَنِمْتُمْ حَلَالًا طَيِّبًا ۚ وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ
Fakulū Mimmā Ghanimtum Ĥalālāan Ţayyibāan Wa Attaqū Al-Laha ‘Inna Al-Laha Ghafūrun Raĥīmun
8:69  So eat/enjoy/consume from what you got/have taken as war booty/ spoils of war (i.e., battle gains)˹for it is˺ lawful and good, and fear Allah. Indeed, Allah is All -Forgiving, Most Merciful.
69. Fakuloo mimmaa ghanimtum halaalan taiyibaa; watta qullaah; innal laaha Ghafoorur Raheem (section 9)
70. يَا أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ قُلْ لِمَنْ فِي أَيْدِيكُمْ مِنَ الْأَسْرَىٰ إِنْ يَعْلَمِ اللَّهُ فِي قُلُوبِكُمْ خَيْرًا يُؤْتِكُمْ خَيْرًا مِمَّا أُخِذَ مِنْكُمْ وَيَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ ۗ وَاللَّهُ غَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ
Yā ‘Ayyuhā An-Nabīyu Qul Liman Aydīkum Mina Al-‘Asrá ‘In Ya`lami Al-Lahu Qulūbikum Khayrāan Yu’utikum Khayrāan Mimmā Ukhidha Minkum Wa Yaghfir Lakum Wa Allāhu Ghafūrun Raĥīmun
8:70  O Prophet! Say to whoever is in your hands of/from the captives,If Allah knows/finds any good in your hearts, He will give you better than what was taken from you, and He will forgive you. And Allah is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.”
70. Yaaa aiyuhan Nabiyyu qul liman feee aideekum minal asraaa iny-ya’lamillahu fee quloobikum khairany yu’tikum khayram mimmaaa ukhiza minkum wa yaghfir lakum; wallaahu Ghafoorur Raheem
71. وَإِنْ يُرِيدُوا خِيَانَتَكَ فَقَدْ خَانُوا اللَّهَ مِنْ قَبْلُ فَأَمْكَنَ مِنْهُمْ ۗ وَاللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٌ
Wa ‘In Yurīdū Khiyānataka Faqad Khānū Al-Laha Min Qablu Fa’amkana Minhum Wa Allāhu `Alīmun Ĥakīmun
8:71  But if they intend to betray you ˹O Prophet, know that˺ certainly they have betrayed Allah from before. So/But He gave you power over them. And Allah is All-Knower/Knowing, All-Wise.
71. Wa iny-yureedoo khiyaa nataka faqad khaanullaaha min qablu fa amkana minhum; wallaahu ‘Aleemun Hakeem
72. إِنَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَهَاجَرُوا وَجَاهَدُوا بِأَمْوَالِهِمْ وَأَنْفُسِهِمْ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ وَالَّذِينَ آوَوْا وَنَصَرُوا أُولَٰئِكَ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلِيَاءُ بَعْضٍ ۚ وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَلَمْ يُهَاجِرُوا مَا لَكُمْ مِنْ وَلَايَتِهِمْ مِنْ شَيْءٍ حَتَّىٰ يُهَاجِرُوا ۚ وَإِنِ اسْتَنْصَرُوكُمْ فِي الدِّينِ فَعَلَيْكُمُ النَّصْرُ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ قَوْمٍ بَيْنَكُمْ وَبَيْنَهُمْ مِيثَاقٌ ۗ وَاللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرٌ
Inna Al-Ladhīna Āmanū Wa Hājarū Wa Jāhadū Bi’amwālihim Wa ‘Anfusihim Sabīli Al-Lahi Wa Al-Ladhīna ‘Āwaw Wa Naşarū ‘Ūlā’ika Ba`đuhum ‘Awliyā’u Ba`đin Wa Al-LadhīnaĀmanū Wa Lam Yuhājarū Lakum Min Walāyatihim Min Shay’in Ĥattá Yuhājirū Wa ‘Ini Astanşarūkum Ad-Dīni Fa`alaykumu An-Naşru ‘Illā `Alá Qawmin Baynakum Wa Baynahum Mīthāqun Wa Allāhu Bimā Ta`malūna Başīrun
8:72  Indeed, those who believed and emigrated and strove hard/strived/struggled with their wealth and their lives in the way of Allah, and those who gave shelter and helped ˹them˺, those, some of them are allies/guardians of/to one another. But/And those who believed and did not emigrate, (it is) not for you for their protection from anything, until they emigrate. And if they seek your help in the religion, then ˹it is a duty/ obligatory˺ upon you to help them, except against a people between you and between them is a treaty. And Allah is All-Seer/Seeing of what you do.

for you is not ˹the duty/responsibility˺ for their protection

it is not ˹a duty/responsibility˺ for you of their protection

you are not ˹responsible˺ for their protection

except against a people with a treaty (i.e., of mutual alliance) between you and between them.


72. Innal lazeena aamanoo wa haajaroo wa jaahadoo bi amwaalihim wa anfusihim fee sabeelil laahi wallazeena aawaw wa nasarooo ulaaa’ika ba’duhum awliyaaa’u ba’d; wallazeena aamanoo wa lam yuhaajiroo maa lakum minw walaayatihim min shai’in hatta yuhaajiroo; wa inistan sarookum fid deeni fa’alaiku munnasru illaa ‘alaa qawmin bainakum wa bainahum meesaaq; wallaahu bimaa ta’maloona Baseer
73. وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلِيَاءُ بَعْضٍ ۚ إِلَّا تَفْعَلُوهُ تَكُنْ فِتْنَةٌ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَفَسَادٌ كَبِيرٌ
Wa Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Ba`đuhumAwliyā’u Ba`đin ‘Illā Taf`alūhu Takun Fitnatun Al-‘Arđi Wa Fasādun Kabīrun
8:73  And those who disbelieve, some of them are allies/guardians of one another. If you ˹believers˺, do not do it/this (i.e., protect each other), there will be oppression in the earth and great corruption.
73. Wallazeena kafaroo ba’duhum awliyaaa’u ba’d; illaa taf’aloohu takun fitnatun fil ardi wa fasaadun kabeer
74. وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَهَاجَرُوا وَجَاهَدُوا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ وَالَّذِينَ آوَوْا وَنَصَرُوا أُولَٰئِكَ هُمُ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ حَقًّا ۚ لَهُمْ مَغْفِرَةٌ وَرِزْقٌ كَرِيمٌ
Wa Al-LadhīnaĀmanū Wa Hājarū Wa Jāhadū Sabīli Al-Lahi Wa Al-Ladhīna Āwaw Wa Naşarū ‘Ūlā’ika Humu Al-Mu’uminūna Ĥaqqāan Lahum Maghfiratun Wa Rizqun Karīmun
8:74  And those who believed and emigrated and strove hard/struggled in the way of Allah and those who gave shelter and helped ˹them˺, those are they, the true believers. For them is forgiveness and a noble/ honourable provision.
74. Wallazeena aamanoo wa haajaroo wa jaahadoo fee sabeelil laahi wallazeena aawaw wa nasarooo ulaaa’ika humul mu’minoona haqqaa; lahum maghfiratunw wa rizqun kareem
75. وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مِنْ بَعْدُ وَهَاجَرُوا وَجَاهَدُوا مَعَكُمْ فَأُولَٰئِكَ مِنْكُمْ ۚ وَأُولُو الْأَرْحَامِ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلَىٰ بِبَعْضٍ فِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ ۗ إِنَّ اللَّهَ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيمٌ
Wa Al-LadhīnaĀmanū Min Ba`du Wa Hājarū Wa Jāhadū Ma`akum Fa’ūlā’ika Minkum Wa ‘Ūlū Al-‘Arĥāmi Ba`đuhumAwlá Biba`đin Kitābi Al-Lahi Inna Al-Laha Bikulli Shay’in `Alīmun
8:75  And those who believed from afterwards (i.e., later), and emigrated and strove hard/struggled with you, then those are of/from among you. But those of the ˹blood˺ relationship/s,/relatives, some of them (i.e., blood relations) are nearer/closer to ˹one˺ another ˹regarding inheritance˺ in the Book of Allah. Indeed, Allah is All-Knower of every thing.
75. Wallazeena aamanoo min ba’du wa haajaroo wa jaahadoo ma’akum fa Ulaaa’ika minkum; wa ulul arhaami baduhum awlaa biba’din fee Kitaabil laah; innal laaha bikulli shai’in ‘Aleem (section 10)
