Steps to Memorize The Holy Quran Ayah by Ayah:
Step 1: Play Each Ayah Step 2: Repeat After or With It Step 3: Memorize Each Ayah Step 4: Then Proceed with Next Ayah & Repeat Step 1 to 3 For All Ayahs.
Play Each Ayah & Repeat (as many times as needed) After or With it in a similar tone (qiraat) and pronunciation (tajweed) until you have Memorized the Ayah, after you have memorized the Ayah, play and repeat the Next Ayah, do this until you have In Sha Allah memorized all the Ayahs (i.e., verses) in the entire Surah. Make sure to also Read, Understand and Learn the Translation of the Surah inorder to get a better understanding of the Surah you are Memorizing or Reading.

Bismillaahir Rahmaanir Raheem
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
سَبِّحِ ٱسْمَ رَبِّكَ ٱلْأَعْلَى
Ayah/Verse 1: sabbiḥi is’ma rabbika l-aʿlā
Meaning: Glorify the Name of your Lord ˹Allah˺, the Most High
[Sabbihisma Rabbikal A’laa]
ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ فَسَوَّىٰ
Ayah/Verse 2: alladhī khalaqa fasawwā
Meaning: ˹Allah˺ The One Who created and fashioned (i.e., proportioned everything)
[Allazee khalaqa fasawwaa]
وَٱلَّذِى قَدَّرَ فَهَدَىٰ
Ayah/Verse 3: wa-alladhī qaddara fahadā
Meaning: and ˹Allah˺ The One Who destined (i.e., set destiny) and guided
[Wallazee qaddara fahadaa]
وَٱلَّذِىٓ أَخْرَجَ ٱلْمَرْعَىٰ
Ayah/Verse 4: wa-alladhī akhraja l-marʿā
Meaning: and ˹Allah˺ The One Who brings forth the ˹green˺ pasture
[Wallazeee akhrajal mar’aa]
فَجَعَلَهُۥ غُثَآءً أَحْوَىٰ
Ayah/Verse 5: fajaʿalahu ghuthāan aḥwā
Meaning: then makes it dark-colored stubble (i.e., pasture into dried and lifeless hay)
[Faja’alahoo ghusaaa’an ahwaa]
سَنُقْرِئُكَ فَلَا تَنسَىٰٓ
Ayah/Verse 6: sanuq’ri-uka falā tansā
Meaning: We will make you recite ˹the Quran˺ so you ˹O Prophet˺ will not forget ˹it at all˺
[Sanuqri’uka falaa tansaaa]
إِلَّا مَا شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ يَعْلَمُ ٱلْجَهْرَ وَمَا يَخْفَىٰ
Ayah/Verse 7: illā mā shāa l-lahu innahu yaʿlamu l-jahra wamā yakhfā
Meaning: except what Allah wills. Indeed, He ˹Allah˺ knows what is declared and what is hidden
[Illaa maa shaaa’al laah; innahoo ya’lamul jahra wa maa yakhfaa]
وَنُيَسِّرُكَ لِلْيُسْرَىٰ
Ayah/Verse 8: wanuyassiruka lil’yus’rā
Meaning: And We will ease you ˹O Prophet˺ towards the ease
[Wa nu-yassiruka lilyusraa]
فَذَكِّرْ إِن نَّفَعَتِ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ
Ayah/Verse 9: fadhakkir in nafaʿati l-dhik’rā
Meaning: So remind, if the reminding benefits ˹the listener˺
[Fazakkir in nafa’atizzikraa]
سَيَذَّكَّرُ مَن يَخْشَىٰ
Ayah/Verse 10: sayadhakkaru man yakhshā
Meaning: he ˹the listener˺ will accept the reminding who fears ˹Allah˺
[Sa yazzakkaru maiyakhshaa]
وَيَتَجَنَّبُهَا ٱلْأَشْقَى
Ayah/Verse 11: wayatajannabuhā l-ashqā
Meaning: and it (i.e., reminding) will be avoided by the most unfortunate one
[Wa yatajannabuhal ashqaa]
ٱلَّذِى يَصْلَى ٱلنَّارَ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ
Ayah/Verse 12: alladhī yaṣlā l-nāra l-kub’rā
Meaning: the one who ˹is unfortunate˺ will burn in the Great Fire
[Allazee yaslan Naaral kubraa]
ثُمَّ لَا يَمُوتُ فِيهَا وَلَا يَحْيَىٰ
Ayah/Verse 13: thumma lā yamūtu fīhā walā yaḥyā
Meaning: then neither will he (i.e., unfortunate one) die therein (i.e., in the Great Fire) and nor will he live
[Summa laa yamootu feehaa wa laa yahyaa]
قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَن تَزَكَّىٰ
Ayah/Verse 14: qad aflaḥa man tazakkā
Meaning: Indeed, successful is ˹the one˺ who purifies ˹oneself˺
[Qad aflaha man tazakkaa]
وَذَكَرَ ٱسْمَ رَبِّهِۦ فَصَلَّىٰ
Ayah/Verse 15: wadhakara is’ma rabbihi faṣallā
Meaning: and remembered the Name of his Lord ˹Allah˺, and prayed
[Wa zakaras ma Rabbihee fasallaa]
بَلْ تُؤْثِرُونَ ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا
Ayah/Verse 16: bal tu’thirūna l-ḥayata l-dun’yā
Meaning: But you (i.e., human being) prefer the life of the world
[Bal tu’siroonal hayaatad dunyaa]
وَٱلْـَٔاخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ وَأَبْقَىٰٓ
Ayah/Verse 17: wal-ākhiratu khayrun wa-abqā
Meaning: while the Hereafter is far Better and Everlasting (i.e., permanent)
[Wal Aakhiratu khairunw wa abqaa]
إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَفِى ٱلصُّحُفِ ٱلْأُولَىٰ
Ayah/Verse 18: inna hādhā lafī l-ṣuḥufi l-ūlā
Meaning: Indeed, this surely is ˹mentioned˺ in the Scriptures of the earlier
[Inna haazaa lafis suhu fil oolaa]
صُحُفِ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَمُوسَىٰ
Ayah/Verse 19: ṣuḥufi ib’rāhīma wamūsā
Meaning: the Scriptures of Abraham (Prophet Ibrahim) and Moses (Prophet Musa)
[Suhufi Ibraaheema wa Moosaa]
The Surah takes its name from the word al-A`la in the very first verse.

Period of Revelation
The subject matter shows that this too is one of the earliest Surahs to be revealed, and the words: “We shall enable you to recite, then you shall never forget” of verse 6 also indicate that it was sent down in the period when the Holy Messenger (upon whom he Allah’s peace) was not yet fully accustomed to receive Revelation and at the time Revelation came down he feared lest he should forget its words. If this verse is read along with verse 114 of Surah Ta Ha and verses 16-19 of Al-Qiyamah and the three verses are also considered with regard to their styles and contexts, the sequence of events seems to be that first in this Surah the Holy Prophet (upon whom be peace) was reassured to the effect: “Do not at all worry: We shall enable you to recite this Word, then you shall not forget it.” Then after a lapse of time, on another occasion, when the Surah Al-Qiyamah was being revealed, the Holy Prophet involuntarily began to rehearse the words of the Revelation. Thereupon it was said: “O Prophet do not move your tongue to remember this Revelation hastily. It is for Us to have it remembered and read. Therefore when We are reciting it, listen to its recital carefully. Again, it is for Us to explain its meaning.”Last of all, on the occasion of the revelation of Surah Ta Ha, the Holy Prophet on account of human weakness, again became afraid lest his memory should fail to preserve some portion of the 113 verses which were continuously revealed at that time, and therefore, he began to memorize them. Thereupon, it was said: “And see that you do not hasten to recite the Quran before its revelation is completed to you.”After this, it never so happened that he felt any such danger, for apart form these three places, there is no other place in the Quran where there might be a reference to this matter.
Theme and Subject Matter
This short surah contains three themes: Tauhid, instructions to the Holy Prophet (upon whom be peace) and the Hereafter.
In the first verse, the doctrine of Tauhid has been compressed into a single sentence, saying that Allah’s name should be glorified and exalted, i. e. He should not be remembered by any name which mighty reflect a deficiency, fault, weakness, or an aspect of likeness, with created beings, for the root of all false creeds in the world are wrong concepts about Allah, which assumed the form of an erroneous name for His glorious and exalted Being. Therefore, for the correction of the creed, the primary thing is that Allah Almighty should be remembered only by the beautiful names which suit and befit Him.
In the next three verses, it has been said: “Your Lord, glorification of Whose name is being enjoined, is He Who created everything in the Universe, proportioned it, set it a destiny, taught it to perform the function for which it is created, and you witness this manifestation of His power day and night that He creates vegetation on the earth as well as reduces it to mere rubbish. No other being has the power to bring about spring nor the power to prevent autumn.”
Then, in the following two verses, the Holy Prophet (upon whom be peace) his been consoled, as if to say: “Do not worry as to how you will remember word for word the Qur’an that is being revealed to you. It is for Us to preserve it in your memory, and its preservation is not in any way the result of any excellence in you but the result of Our bounty and favor, otherwise if We so will, We can cause you to forget it.”
Then, the Holy Prophet (upon whom be peace) has been told: “You have not been made responsible to bring everyone on to the right path; your only duty is to convey the truth, and the simplest way of conveying the truth is that admonition be given to him who is inclined to listen to the admonition and accept it, and the one who is not inclined to it, should not be pursued. The one who fears the evil consequences of deviation and falsehood, will listen to the truth and accept it, and the wretched one who avoids listening to and accepting it, will himself see his evil end.”‘
The discourse has been summed up, saying: “Success is only for those who adopt purity of belief, morals and deed, and remember the name of their Lord and perform the Prayer. But, on the contrary, the people are wholly lost in seeking the ease, benefits and pleasures of the world, whereas they should actually endeavor for their well being in the Hereafter, for the world is transitory and the Hereafter everlasting and the blessings of the Hereafter are far better than the blessings of the world. This truth has not been expressed only in the Qur’an but in the books of the Prophets Abraham and Moses too, it had been brought to the notice of man.

HOLY QURAN: REVELATION PERIOD
The Holy Quran was revealed to Prophet Muhammed (May Peace and Blessings be Upon Him) over the span of 23 years. The revelation of the Quran Started in the Holy Month of Ramadan. The period of revelation of The Holy Quran can be categorized into 2 main parts, that’s is the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)’s life in Makkah that is 13 years and after His (PBUH) migration to Madinah that is 10 years. Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) received the first revelation in Cave of Hira.

HOLY QURAN: PRESERVATION
To ease the recitation and memorization of The Quran, it has been divided in to 30 equal parts/portions called the “Juz” or “Siparah”. The Chapters/Surahs of The Holy Quran were arranged in the present order by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) himself though there was no compiled copy of Quran during Prophet’s life and Sahaba (companions of the prophets) memorized the verses of Quran by heart or scribed the verses on stones, animal skin or palm tree.
WHAT IS THE MEANING BETWEEN TRANSLATION OF THE QURAN AND THE QURAN IN ARABIC LANGUAGE?
The translations of Quran were written to explain the meaning of the Quran in Non-Arabic languages so that the reader can understand the meaning of the Quran in their respective languages.
However, translations are written by various individuals, authors, or translators. One must understand that Quran translations are written by different people and different people have different selection of words to explain the terminologies from Arabic to their respective language. Therefore, translations are a mere effort to explain the meaning of the Holy Quran. On final notes, a translation must only be read for understanding purposes as the true word of Allah is The Holy Quran in Arabic Language Only.
WHAT IS A TAFSEER OF THE HOLY QURAN?
The word ‘tafsir’ stems from the root word ‘fassara’, which means to explain. Therefore, Tafsir of Quran means the explanation or interpretations of the verses of Quran. The Tafsir of Quran is done by people after obtaining in-depth extensive knowledge about Islam and reading the history of Islam in detail. The objective of a Tafsir is to find out the true meanings of the verses of Quran, so that the reader can benefit from it and know the right and true message of The Holy Quran.
WHY TAFSIR:
It tries to explain Quran so that the understanding of the reader about Quran and its message increases. Where the Translation only provides a word to word meaning of the Holy Quran, TAFSIR on the other end explains a more detailed meaning of the verses and words in the Quran with context and references, it also explains of the revelation period thereby increasing the understanding of the Quran in a greater detail.
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TRANSLATION VS TAFSIR
TRANSLATION: is a word-to-word explanation of the Quran from Arabic Language (i.e., the original languages it was revealed) to other non-Arabic languages to simplify the understanding of the Holy Quran for the reader.
TAFSIR: is a detailed explanation of the verses of the Quran with context, explanation, reference to get a deeper understanding of the Holy Quran.
On a final note, the beginner should start reading the translation first and then if there is a particular chapter/surah or verse/ayah or word that you do not understand in the translation, then you must refer to the TAFSIR for further explanation.
